We absolutely love Sans Restaurant, Dennis and Emily go out of their way to give you a warm and friendly welcome and create a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience like dining with friends really. The food is exceptional our favorites are the Dim Sum, Beef in black bean sauce and King prawns in sweet and sour sauce, but it's all amazing. Would highly recommend and we will be back again and again takeaways are also fabulous

As a weekly visitor to Sans either for a takeaway or dine in guest it never disappoints. A small family run business who are always so welcoming and the food is always exceptional

We expected a better class of restaraunt for Henley in Arden especially for the way overpriced menu which was a lot more than on thier own out of date webpage, probably 40% more expensive. The waiting staff seemed untrained in serving and organisation, even although there were 4 of us the rice and 1st meal came out and the remaining 3 had to wait 5 minutes before the rest came out, we came to eat together. We had to ask for cutlery twice. The food was bland although asking for it extra hot. I certainly would not reccommend the Sans, None of us be returning.

Really disappointed with our meal tonight. The chips had little garlic/salt and tasted plain, the egg fried rice had little taste compared to the boiled and was the same colour, chow mein had little taste. Was a bit of a wait in the restaurant for our takeaway and feels like that side of the business is an afterthought compared to restaurant.

As the restaurant looked busy we thought let’s give it a try. Wish we hadn’t. Everything looked promising, clean, modern looking, friendly staff who seated us quickly. 5 complimentary prawn crackers were placed on the table, my husband asked if there was any dipping sauce…. Apparently not in a Chinese restaurant. We waited 10 minutes for menus as they were busy, finally ordered and then waited then waited some more… Lots of takeaway orders were being collected and we could see the waiters were rushed off their feet so we sat patiently. Starters came: chicken satay skewers and mini spring veggie rolls. The chicken was overly cooked, dry and the satay sauce inedible so when the waitress came to take the plates away we told her, she shrugged and said ‘ok’. Main arrived after 30 minutes: Pork in a brown gloopy sauce, no vegetables, just brown paste. My lightly battered fried tofu in sweet and sour sauce was bizarre. I’ve eaten lots of tofu, battered or fried or marinated, this one was weird. It was watery in the middle not at all crispy on the outside. Did they use silken instead of firm? Who knows! It was not good. A few people who’d collected takeaways came back with their orders as items had been forgotten, so it was a busy night, but it was a Saturday so should have been expected. So in summation, pleasant staff, nice ambiance, overly priced food for what it was. If you’re fancying a Chinese dish take my advice and go buy a £15 meal deal from a supermarket and you’ll still have £50 in your pocket (and no bad taste in your mouth)

Lovely food, awful service. If you’re a regular you are treated like gold, if you’re not then expect to be bottom of the list. So many better places to eat Henley. Overpriced, give it a miss.

We have been getting takeaway from here for the past few months and kept going back because although a bit pricey, it was tasty and very authentic. However, this week we were very disappointed; all the dishes were only ok, instead of delicious, except the vegetables in oyster sauce, which were bland and overcooked. Don’t know if there’s a new chef but we won’t be in a hurry to go back. It’s a shame as Stratford is generally bad at ethnic food and this was an exception.

We live in Stratford Upon Avon, this was our first time at Sans. From the moment we walked in, the experience was wonderful. Attentive service, superb food/drink. All top notch. Lucas was the star of our evening. We highly recommend.

The quality never drops, I live locally and have had countless takeaways and meals in the restaurant, and I’ve never had anything other than a fantastic experience. The freshness of the food and the customer service is the best in the area. Highly recommend. Tris

The Chinese that time forgot (except the prices) Service is great and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. Food is very bland and I presume tailored for wealthy Midlands village tastes. For someone who normally eats in more urban areas you might be disappointed with the flavours which are not really there in any of the dishes I tried. It's like what Chinese tasted like in 90s in London suburbs and not That being said there was a decent amount of fresh veg and the meat was proper stuff and not the squishy frozen stuff that some restaurants have nowadays. There was not much oil on the dishes and it is probably one of the more healthy Chinese meals I've tried Prices are quite extreme for this type of restaurant and portion size but I guess again that comes with the area and clientele. 3 small satay sticks were over a tenner and a meal was near 40 pound a person for 2 courses with 1 drink The beer was well kept and tasty though and reasonable price at under a fiver a pint Nice little blast from the past type place but I hope they modernise the recipes in next years even if the menu stays the same, it's got great staff and is a nice environment

Best Chinese food I’ve experienced in the Uk. Everything is cooked crisp and light and delicious. Worth travelling to.

We have eaten at Sans on several occasions and also had takeaways. The menu is extensive and the food has always been excellent. They have always been happy to cook food to suit individual tastes. The spicy pork ribs are delicious. The garlic and chilli king prawns are a must! The service has been friendly and efficient and we will definitely eat here again.

You can always guarantee excellent food, a lovely warm welcome and superb service, there’s a reason Sans has been around as long as it has 👍🏼😁Thanks Rachel & Martin

On my own for dinner whilst visiting people, so went to Sans. Wasn’t disappointed, the starter was amazing, so fresh. The main I had was fresh, well presented and felt authentic East Asian cooking.

Must have the aromatic duck and the yuk sung. Honestly some of the BEST Chinese food I've had while being in the UK. The atmosphere is very intimate. The seafood is also exceptional. I got the crab claws and the lemon King prawns. You get your starters in less than 10 minutes and the meals come immediately after. Customer service is a 10/10 they make you feel like family. If you're ever close by this is a definite must have. Hats off to the team

We are visiting the area and followed the reviews to find somewhere to eat. I'm certainly glad we did. I've now found my favourite Chinese restaurant. Shame its over 100 miles from home. A warm welcome as soon as we entered. Lovely restaurant in a lovely town. My Wife asked for Vegetarian hot and sour soup. It wasn't on the menu but was made for her anyway. The food came out really quickly and was exceedingly good ( probably the best ribs I've ever had). The service was excellent. If your in the area and fancy Chinese food, I don't think you could get any better. You certainly wouldn't be disappointed.

We enjoyed a very pleasant meal at Sans. The service was excellent and the young people working on the evening we visited should be congratulated. We all enjoyed our main courses, indeed they were excellent. I was somewhat disappointed with the side dish of egg fried rice which I thought was rather dry and bland . The cost was very reasonable. I would certainly pay a return visit. The restaurant does not have a car park but after 6 pm street parking is usually available. Otherwise Henley in Arden does have a number of car parks and these are not too distant from Sans

We were on holiday in the area and went to Sans for a meal. The food was absolutely excellent, very tasty and plenty of, the service was also excellent and they were accommodating with special food requirements. Thank you so much, I would love to return if I'm in the area again in the future

After booking for my birthday with friends I was booked in on the telephone with a very friendly man that gave me a great deal of hope and looking forward to my evening. On arrival we were greeted by the two staff on that night neither said hello or smiled or warm welcome he just grabbed menus and took us to the table assuming that it was my booking. After very close to 15 minutes no one has been up and asked us if we would like a drink. When the drink order had been taken a bottle of white wine, there was no thank you very much be back in a moment or a smile he just walked away not a word spoken. When we were ready to order we waited another 10 minutes and we had to call one of them over. Again the order was taken no thank you no smile and just walked away. At this point I was embarrassed with my friends that I'd gone to somewhere where we didn't seem to be appreciated or welcomed. The starters were lovely we all enjoyed those very much. The main courses came a bit after the bowls which were stone cold, and asked the lsd if we could have hot bowls he just sniggered and walked away.. When the food arrived it was all in cold dishes with no heaters on the table and so after about a quarter of the food was eaten it was cold and I do not like cold food that is supposed to be hot. Neither staff asked if everything was alright. I think this sort of service is totally unacceptable. We asked for the bill and that came and when we made payment, again there was not a thank you there was not a murmur of a word or smile from either of them or goodnight where left. This what's the first experience for all of us to Sans and to be honest I could not recommend it to anybody with the service we had and unfriendly staff that aren't bothered if you there.

We have used this restaurant to eat in and out over the last two years, we live hear . We stopped eating in because the portion size were not value for money . We have just started to try the takeaway dishes after about 8 months. Last week we never got the lettuce for our starter and the vegetable portion in the veg curry was just about acceptable. The curry sauce wasn't a good consistency. We tried again this Saturday it was 100% worse I'm sorry to say. The food was just warm ,the lettuce was on the turn of going brown and the smallest leaves I have ever seen. The vegi curry there were hardly any vegetables in it,less than 30% I would estimate. The curry sauce was like water! I appreciate that the price of food has gone up, but you should not let the quality down! I'm sorry but the price you charge the quality should be good. Unless you landlord is ripping you off . No excuse for warm food either, we had to wait for the food so it should have been hot. We live 2mins away! And please I am a chef locally also. We went to Devon two weeks ago had a takeaway, the food was reasonable price and excellent quality and portions. I'm not saying your portion should be massive by the way but the quality should be. Your competitor down the road I would never have food from them again . I hope you listen,I will try you again in a few months so I hope I have a better experience. Andrew

After explaining that we were prepared to spend over £90 for a meal, we didn’t even think that such a minor change would be such a big problem. It really put a dampener on the mood and we were baffled why such a small request could not be accommodated. After being forced to order separately from the menu, two of the dishes were nice, however the remaining ones were underwhelming. We’d saved up to have a special meal out and were left feeling upset and disappointed. Such a small request could’ve dramatically changed the course of the evening. It’s a shame the management couldn’t see this. Many other restaurants would go above and beyond to help and appreciate their diners. Please respect your customers wishes - remember it could be a special occasion for them.

Fantastic first visit to Sans. The restaurant was buzzing with happy diners. Alfie served us beautifully. Dennis is a consummate host. The food was delicious. I tried a new noodle dish to me. ‘YoungChow’ noodles. Pork, beef and shrimp noodles with lots of veg. Not greasy at all. My husband chose his usual, ‘beef with ginger and spring onion’ and rice. He declared it to be, ‘absolutely lovely’. Well done Sans 😁

Fantastic Cantonese food. The service was brilliant (Alfie our waiter) was amazing. Dennis the owner is super nice, really courteous and attentive. Top place, top food definitely will be back. Go there and enjoy wonderful Cantonese cuisine 5*s all day long.

This is the third time we have eaten at Sans restaurant, and each time the food has been faultless. The best lemon chicken I've ever tasted on our first visit , and tonight was the sweet and sour pork, which was lovely . The service is always good, and welcoming. My only small criticism is the restaurant is a bit cold, but would still definitely recommend.

A lovely lunch, you could tell everything was fresh and each dish tasty. The service by Dennis was exemplary! Will definitely return and very happy to find a local Chinese restaurant that's open to eat in at lunchtime.

This was beautiful. There were a lot of bones that look like they didn’t belong to people, and some even looked blue, so that was weird. The atmosphere of the place was beautiful and there was a similar shop outside and when I asked what it was they said it was an ‘AU’. Anyway, the food was weird because I got served a ‘Gaster blaster’ and a ‘blue attack’ and a ‘bad time special.’ The service was spectacular, some skeleton guy came over and told a bunch of puns and served these ‘special attacks’. His brother, ‘Papyrus’ was the chef, the food was kind of burnt. However, overall, I would say 4/5. Thank you. Would come again and this time I’ll bring a friend.

The cost of the evening was just far too expensive and having used the restaurant before we have decided this will be our last visit. We were 4 adults and 3 kids under 11 The costs can be summed as follows: 4 pints of singha lager £19.80 1 glass of house white £7 3.5 pints of blackcurrant cordial £21 We paid £48 for one round of drinks Each bowl of prawn crackers containing approx 20 crackers were £3.80. That is ridiculous The meals were just too small simply as We ordered no starters, 6 mains ( the two youngest kids shared a meal) we had 2 bowls of rice costing £22 with the meals and no sweets We were there just over one hour Total cost £170 It was good basic food but just not good value at all The drinks costs are outrageous

1st time here & thou food was nice we were disappointed with the mixed skewers starter,very small & not worth the £13.80,also the chicken chow mein was lacking in chicken so wouldn't return...spent £72 inc bottle of sparkling water for 2 of us but left still peckish,beef was best dish very tasty!

We enjoyed an excellent meal and were very well looked after. I am gluten free and I was very impressed by the choices that I had. A highlight for me was the fact that I could have a gluten free pineapple fritter! Would definitely recommend Sans Restaurant. Thank you

Portions way too small and food way over priced. Quality of food is excellent (I’d say five star) but you are forced to too many dishes due to portion size and each dish costs loads!

We used to dine in Sans but now just have a takeaway. (In recent years we have felt it lacks some atmosphere).We would certainly recommend the food and have never had any complaints. We noticed though when we went to collect the takeaway that the Restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Indeed one of the diners walked out having waited too long to be served at the table. They also appeared to struggle with number of takeaway orders. We hope that Sans can resolve the staffing issue and move forward, but we will continue to view it as our favourite Chinese takeaway.

This is based on a take away which was served within 5 minutes of ordering. That tells me that the meal is not freshly prepared. The quality was ok but nothing special.

We’ve loved Sans for years, Dennis and his family are always most accommodating. Food is perfect, best Chinese in the Stratford area 100%. When we eat in, great atmosphere and friendly service; takeaway is always correct, fresh, hot, & speedy! Can’t ask for more!

Consistently great food at the best Chinese in the West Midlands!

Just to say a big thank you to all at Sans in Henley-in-Arden for a beautiful evening, staff were very professional and the hospitality excellent. We had various starters and mains that were all served in good time and were hot, a special shout out for the Thai chicken in honey and soya sauce compliments to the chef. Even though the restaurant was packed the staff had time for everyone. We look forward to going back again.

Decided to give them a second chance as a takeaway after a disappointing meal. However, it was disappointing bland generic food served at best warm with no identification on the foil containers. also did not like being charged on a big order an extra £3 for five extra pancakes in a sealed bag that probably cost them 30p

What a fantastic restaurant, the food are so freshly cooked, service was out standing, the girls were smiling all the time. Happy place to visit with fantastic food. The bill is on the higher end but you get what you pay for, we will be back and happily recommend to anyone who enjoy quality of dining out.

We booked Sans last minute over the bank holiday weekend - we’ve had good takeaway experiences in the past so did not think to check tripadvisor. What I will say is that the food was really nice. However, I was a little shocked by prices...

Sadly Sans is nothing like it used to be. Portions were very small and overpriced. Drinks choice poor and service lacking - we had to ask for more drinks and were not even offered dessert or coffee. We won’t be going back.

Worst Chinese ever, way overpriced, tiny portions served in a small plate and the food does not taste fresh, absolutely horrible, years ago this Chinese had gorgeous food, we definitely won't be going back here again.

This restaurant used to be such a happy place the food service and food standards were amazing, we haven't had a takeaway in a while from sans, so we decided to treat ourselves, lets just say the standards have dropped completely!! The portion sizes were so small and not worth the money! The rice tasted uncooked or not cooked properly it was hard!!!! Dennis i am really sorry but you can’t let this business’ standards drop anymore!! Please sort this out.
