The best restaurants in South West

This is fairly local to us and we decided to have an early evening birthday dinner. Even at 6 on a Monday it was pleasantly busy creating a nice atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly and there was a good range of real ales on offer including 3 kegs of guest beers. Food choice was exceptional to the point of making it hard to decide which of several options to choose. When it arrived the food was extremely good and well presented. All in all a very good experience.

We only had dinner here - not staying though. Friendly, good service, delicious food and great atmosphere . We felt completely at home and definitely recommend !!

Ordered a takeaway from here this evening the food was cold by the time it was delivered. Chips were hard and dry and the lamb was tough. First and last time ordering from here.

We went on a random Tuesday and the restaurant was fairly busy. We ordered a range of starters and mains and all of them were fantastic. Lovely staff and the food was brought out quickly. Would 100% recommend

My first visit was very good but I thought there was a lack of choice with the vegetarian options. I looked at the online sample menus recently and there was only 1 veggie starter and main offered. The Boar didn't respond to any of my emails asking if there were more choices as the sample menus may have been out of date. If they can't be bothered to respond then that's really disappointing for someone who would quite happily have booked regularly.

Making you wait 15 minutes to then be turned down because they don’t have a table, even though they just gave a table to another group who turned up after us. Extremely disappointed .

I used to love this place but I think it’s lost a bit of the charm it used to have. Food is great (new menu is super fresh and interesting) and the staff are nice - but it does just feel like another cafe. A place to eat and go, rather than to stay and enjoy.

What a delicious well priced meal. We had Teriyake and a curry, really delicious, fresh and vibrant. Great friendly service. Well recommended.

Excellent pub. Fantastic service and made to feel welcome. Beer was on great form (tavistock brewery) and the food was brilliant. Simply a 5 star pub, highly recommended.

We had a fantastic pizza and chips tonight, washed down with a couple of cold beers. Would definitely recommend.

Our a la carte lunch at 27 Kingsbridge was a truly wonderful experience. We were greeted by Julia who was warm, friendly, and authentic. The restaurant is elegant and comfortable . The description of the 4 starters made it difficult to choose between so three of us started by sharing four exquisite starters. The Crab Mille Feuille, Haddock Ravioli, Isle of Wight Tomato Tart and Duck Terrine. The presentation was exquisite, attention to detail superb and tastes phenomenal. For mains, we had Lamb and Beef dishes. Both were perfectly cooked—the lamb tender and flavorful, the beef rich and succulent, showcasing the chef's precise execution. For dessert we had the strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Delice. And again we were wowed by them both. 27 Kingsbridge is exceptional. A must-visit for those who appreciate fine dining at its best. If you're looking for a memorable experience then you will not be disappointed.

Amazing food, staff were very friendly and professional, nothing was too much hassle. Would recommend things on the menu to something you would normally have else where. Excellent service all round.
