Highly recommend. My favorite Thai restaurant. I've been a patron for years and will continue to return for many more. An excellent restaurant, with friendly staff, and good food.

We had the good luck to find an open table at Sukothai Thai restaurant on Sunday evening on the recommendation of a local at a pub. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious. Two of us picked up a couple of bottles of wine for the table at the nearby Tesco Express while the other two placed orders for our party; keen eyes in the kitchen ensured food arrived shortly after our wine was uncorked by the server. While the well-lit store-front restaurant is cozy, the tables are spaced far enough apart that we could enjoy our conversation (and not that of our neighbors). A great find and one of the best dinners we had on our trip.

Very nice food, it's quite a small place, but we enjoyed the food overall. Inexpensive too. It's not a seafront location, best accessed via Queen Street

Restaurant only has about 20 covers, so must book. Cosy and clean surroundings and superb food, with plenty of choices on the menu. Parking is not easy in the narrow streets in the area.

Wow. What a night. It was a cold and windy cornish evening, I needed refuge. "Ahhhh" i thought. There sukothai stood, lustily whispering my name. I was greeted by a young boy with lovely blue eyes at the door. He gave me the cheekiest of winks and asked me whgat i wanted. I ordered, and the rest is history.

We chose the set menu which was excellent and good value. The service was very good and the food was hot and tasty. Portion sizes were certainly not small. Thanks to the young man who was efficient and polite. Don’t forget for a small charge to bring your own wine or beer as they are unlicensed. We will certainly be back.

When its nice you do it TWICE!I really enjoyed the food at Sukothai in Penzance. I found this place through a simple Google search, i.e., Thai restaurants near me and used Google to give directions. I wanted Pad Thai with medium heat and both the chicken pad thai and beef pad thai didn't disappoint. As an appetizer I had roasted ribs where the meat was ready to fall off the bones. If you like pad thai, or thai food on general I would recommend giving Sukothai a try!

What a lovely little restaurant! 🥰 How have I never been here before now and I've lived within a few minutes of it all my life! We had one of the set menus, which was a blessing as I didn't need to decide what to have as it all sounded soooo good! Got to say though, the Thai Red Curry that came out was THE BEST one I've ever had! 🫶 Oh and CHICKEN TOAST! What is this creation? Best thing ever! Service was wonderful, staff were so friendly, happy and helpful! I will definitely be returning 🤟

A charming pub in a side street. Atmospheric and small. Friendly service, a young guy who was busy. The starters arrived in the blink of an eye. Main courses, each of us ate something different, but everyone was delighted. It doesn't matter whether you eat red curry or noodles with shrimp, it's delicious. The cook came to the table, wished us bon appetit and offered us a jug of water. Delicious food for good money. If you're in Penzance you have to go to Sukothai because it's worth it. I recommend it with a clear conscience.

My husband booked us a table for my birthday as we had not been before and we love Thai food. The restaurant had beautiful decor and carved menu covers that gave a real feel of authenticity. The food was very good and one of the best Thai meals we have had, it was fresh and served quickly. My only criticism is that we felt rushed! My husband eats a lot faster than me, so when he finished his meal and I was having a drink the waitress came over collect the plates and asked if I wanted my left overs in a box, and I had to explain I wasn’t finished. The restaurant was small and people were queuing inside for their table bookings, even though every table was occupied which felt like they hadn’t allowed much time per table. The staff were very friendly and welcoming but it was very busy and not the most relaxed eating experiences, however the food makes it worth while and will return maybe not on a Saturday though.

Got a take away red fish curry which i collected. Excellent as usual. Prices have gone up but portion enough for two meals.

This is my favourite restaurant in Penzance. I have eaten at Sukothai for years and the food is amazing and so tasty. I love tge Thai carvings on the wall. The staff are so so friendly. I would highly recommend a visit to the restaurant

Delicious green curry, pad Thai, chicken toast and spring rolls. Speedy and attentive service. Lovely atmosphere. No alcohol served but you can bring a bottle in for a small corkage charge. We will go here again.

Lovley food, brilliant service, wonderful atmosphere

Really amazing food. The massaman curry was perfect. Had the coconut steamed rice to add to the flavour. With fish cake to start. A perfect meal.

This place had an amazing cover to their menus and bill, the whole restaurant had an incredible design PLUS the food was really tasty. As someone who loves spice it was a tad bit disappointing but other than that it was delicious! The service was really nice, the lady servicing us was checking up on us and gave my younger siblings a bowl of jellybeans! Some meals I'd recommend are definitely the red curry!! If you are a kid or someone who isn't really into thai there are prawn options which were inducible, I did not get them on camera.

Been visiting for years and it's still very good food. Sadly they no longer serve Thai prawn crackers, and have switched to Chinese ones. Takes a while for a takeaway, but tasty food! Massaman and the dish formally known as Khao Phat are my favourites.

Beautiful food but the service was poor. There were 3 young inexperienced boys waiting on table, who appeared to be aged between 12 & 15 and were dressed in old jeans, T-shirts and dirty trainers. They spent most of the night huddled together chatting at the takeaway counter. When we asked to take home the food we hadn’t been able to eat, 2 takeaway containers were dumped unceremoniously on our table for us to decant ourselves! It’s such a shame, as the food really was very good.

Found this by chance after searching around for dinner for a hungry family. Lucked out as food amazing and as good a Thai meal as I have had in the UK. Starters excellent especially a peanut fritter thingy we hadn’t tried before. Then went for curries and all top notch. BYOB always a bargain and a tescos metro over the road. Nice people and a great meal.

Delicious meal with the family here in August 2023. We had the Pad Thai and Massaman and red Thai curries. The king prawns were amazing, very succulent and so tasty. Great atmosphere too.

This was a cracking find in Penzance. It’s a bit tucked away but worth the search. My partner had a red Thai chicken curry with rice and I had the chicken massaman with rice. Both were exceptional and they must have been because by the time I’d thought of taking a picture the food was gone and the plates clean! There was a richness to the red Thai that I’ve not tasted in other curries I’ve sampled and the creaminess of the massaman was out there. Plenty of veg in both meals and good portions for the prices too. Only downside and something worth knowing before you go is that it’s a BYOB so we were on the water. The menu selection is fantastic and if we are back down that way we will certainly be tapping this spot up again!

We booked a table for our family for a special occasion. The restaurant was uncomfortably busy with people standing in between the tables whilst waiting for a seat or takeaway food. Food was nice but everything very very sweet (avoid if you like savoury food!). Apparently they have two sittings, so they tried to clear our plates whilst we were still eating so they could get the next diners in. The family behind us looked bewildered when they were asked to leave so the next booking could sit down. Everything felt too fast, too busy, and very impersonal. Alright for fast food but not for a special occasion. I could be wrong but it felt like waiters were deliberately hovering’ next to the table so that we ate faster…A shame as we ate here last year and it was wonderful. Would not eat here again for a special occasion but ok for fast food. Go when it’s quiet or put up with being treated like cattle. Good luck!

Best Thai restaurant. Very authentic food super helpful and super fast service. We have arrived without booking but they made place for us two nights in a row. Food is fresh and super tasty. I could advise anyone to try. 5 star

Grabbed a cheeky takeaway from here, absolutely lovely Massaman curry with tofu! Lots more vegan options available that just that too! They took note of my egg allergy in the kitchen which is much appreciated. I walked in to order, was told it would be ten minutes. So I took a little walk to the seafront and back and it was there waiting for me. Ideal!

Restaurant staff were kind enough to let us eat in even though we had arrived just before closing. Food was hot, delicious and served quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

I used Tripadvisor to find this place, which I don't usually do as I like to follow my nose. I have been let down a few times in towns like this as the locals can be biased. Well not this time. Very authentic, simple menu which I like as you know it's going to be good as they are not over complicating the various options. The flavours where amazing, I had fish red curry which I have to say was one of the best I have ever tasted. You only have to check my contributions to see I am well fed 😉. The portions were very generous, in fact my main would have fed two. If your reading this to try and find good food look no further. I shall be back.

The best restaurant in Penzance by a country mile. Beautiful family run Thai restaurant where food quality is paramount. Pat Po Tek is my wife's favourite dish although there are lots of other amazing choices. On (the owner) cares deeply about the ingredients to ensure consistency and added to the friendly service and atmosphere it is the perfect way to spend an evening. We love this place and will always come back, time and time again.

Absolutely super food, restaurant felt a little like a works canteen but the food served was delicious. Was very surprised to find the restaurant was unlicenced and surprised to be charged £3.00 corkage as I opened the bottle, I poured the wine and spent over £40.00 on food.

Wonderful meal. I highly recommend the Massaman Curry and coconut rice if you like something mild and creamy. The service is super friendly and the restaurant has a lovely family-run atmosphere. The only potential downside is that the tables are packed in quite close together, due to the restaurant being fairly small. But I certainly wouldnt let that put me off going again!

The menu says ‘food freshly cooked’. I’m not convinced that the food is made on site from fresh ingredients - the chicken in the sate and main meals did not have the appearance, texture and taste of freshly prepared (& not previously frozen) chicken. If I’d cooked the red curry from a spice tailor or similar kit I’d have been disappointed… but we were expecting authentic Thai food. Vegan options for friends were very limited (no tofu today).

We had a take out from here last night. Called up. They said 20 mins. It was 20 mins. I got there and it was ready. Food was absolutely delicious. The whole family enjoyed what they ordered. Very reasonably priced. They are doing bits! Thank you very much Ben

If you like Thai food made with a sledgehammer with none of the lovely subtleties, mix of fragrances and flavours this type of cuisine involves, then this restaurant is for you. Could not finish my mediocre red curry, asked for a takeaway out of politeness, was given two trays (no takeaway bag - had to ask for that) and left to sort it out myself. I was the sole diner in the restaurant at the time, and the staff seemed to have plenty of time to talk, but not enough time to provide any kind of hospitality. My politeness ended at the next public waste bin, as frankly the food was too awful to eat and I binned the remainder. The Thai Moon in Penzance is infinitely superior in every way - authenticity, service, ambience and value. I will never be making a return visit to Sukothai. And I LOVE good Thai food. What a shame....

We are in penzance for a weeks break and booked to come here before we left our own town. Amazing food that tastes fantastic! The service is Brilliant & atmosphere is really nice. I would recommend Sukothai over anywhere else to eat in penzance, I would recommend booking as it get bust because the food is so good.

We couldn't eat here, as there was a dog (not an assistance dog) in the restaurant. My husband is asthmatic, and we can't be indoors with dogs. Dogs aren't allowed in restaurant kitchens for hygiene reasons, so why are they allowed where people are eating indoors? Why do people now expect to be able to take their dogs into busy pubs and restaurants? They don't expect to take them into supermarkets, hospitals etc. That dog didn't pay for any food or drink. But it's owners cost the restaurant £60+ in lost custom, just from us alone. Obviously, both the dog and restaurant owners are happy with that. Disgusting.

Delicious food, cooked with fresh quality ingredients to perfection. Some of the best Thai cooking I’ve eaten this side of Bangkok. Truly authentic, hot, spicy, juicy fresh shrimp and squid. So good we went back again, and so good we went back yet again! Being a BYO means the coop round the corner provides the beer just ask for ice to super chill.

Popped in when passing, no table Ava but took our number and rang us within 10 mins when 1 came free. We had a set menu which was served very efficiently and obviously freshly cooked, more than enough and they did offer to pack up...

Didn’t feel very welcome. The prawn crackers were not Thai prawn crackers. It was all a bit sweet for our liking and didn’t have the freshness that I’ve experienced in other Thai restaurants.

The food was good and the starter was served quickly. The mains arrived together and were very tasty and interesting. The portions were a bit too much for us but we chose the set menu as we are not that familiar with Thai. Excellent service .

Fantastic food, had the beef masman curry and it was beautiful. Very authentic tasting and reminded me of my time in Thailand. Service was excellent and it was very well priced. Would definitely recommend it.

Ordered 3 main meals got very quick service, picked the food up within 20 minutes. Very organised and clean restaurant and the waiters seemed nice. Food was delicious, we ordered one dish to be spicy and they actually listened and made it very spicy which was very satisfactory since most restaurants don’t! Will be coming back soon.

Small restaurant. Food we had was outstanding. Shared starter, 2 mains and 2 sides were ample. What really impressed us was that this was like the food we've eaten in various parts of Thailand. Fragrant and tangy. Will come back here.

Worst service the chef was so rude 2 me! I told her I suffered with anxiety & she said "I don't care" I've never been treated like that in my life!! The curry was like water!! Very disappointed & was refused a refund! Basically told me to get out!!
