We had a fantastic pizza and chips tonight, washed down with a couple of cold beers. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely atmosphere and kind people. We enjoyed the evening there.

What a wonderful local pub. Ended a day of work with a pint of scrumpy and scampi and chips in a basket, all delicious and not silly prices. Lovely atmosphere, family friendly. Unspoilt 15th Century Inn.

Great pub and highly recommended for food and drink

I’m not just saying this, but quite frankly the best country pub we have EVER been too! Not just country pub, but pub in general! The staff who work here are lovely, made us feel so so so welcomed, they were so polite and talkative so a massive thanks for that. It is a dog friendly pub which is a win win, they gave our little doggo treats too which she was very happy about. I ordered the Carps loaded burger and my partner ordered the chicken fillet burger, we haven’t stopped speaking about it since we had it; it was possibly the BEST burger we have ever tried and the portions are massive for such a great price!!!! Unfortunately we don’t live near by we are just visiting for a week but we will be back for sure. Thank you once again for being so lovely to us and the great food! Also a mini gift shop inside which sells really lovely things and even doggo ice cream 🥰 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We were staying for a week in the area. The pub is 20 min walk from the cottage we stayed in. It was recommended my the Landlady and it was a first choice in visitors book recommendation. We walked there on Wednesday evening 7ish for some food and drink but was told kitchen not open mid week. We had a drink and was told they are closing at 8pm and we were asked to leave. We did look on Facebook before we went there but there was no information to say that they don’t serve food midweek or closing early that day which would save our time going there. It was quite a lot of effort to get there so we were very disappointed.

Spot on service by very pleasant and helpful staff. The menu was preselected before we arrive so dinner arrived promptly. Three children ate everything which is unusual! Four adults thoroughly enjoyed their meals which were reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

The owner - Midge - was wonderfull talking to us about the local area and what it's like to live and work in Metherell - even giving us a small guided tour! We would definitly reccomend visiting here - especially as they host so much live music in the evenings!

I’m not sure where to start….. I wanted to write a review because I feel this place deserves to have some recognition. In a nutshell….. Food…affordable prices, great portions, well presented and tastes as good as it looks. Drinks….affordable prices with a great selection. Staff….Absolutely Amazing to be honest. Me, my sister and my 2 young daughters had one of the best times visiting on a Sunday afternoon. They play live music Sunday afternoons and the band even let my 6 year old get up and sing. From start to finish the place was A+. I’d recommend to anyone.

Amazing, lovely food in a beautiful old country pub setting. Home cooked, plentiful portions. Chunky chips and lasagne were the best ive had in a long time.

The food was great and (for Cornwall) was exceptional value, really well presented and there was a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit

A wonderful country pub set in the heart of this lovely village. Having played here with our band the previous weekend and been warmly welcomed by everyone, we returned to sample the delights of their menu. And what a treat! We had the tiger prawns with crusty bread, chicken goujons with a lime, ginger and soy salad, and the seafood selection & chips basket meal. All 3 meals and 2 drinks came to a total of about £27 - tremendous value for what were very generous platefuls, and all of first class quality. I would highly recommend eating, drinking and enjoying a live music event here. Thankyou Midge and your fantastic team - we will definitely be back.

My partner and I dined here tonight after we booked a table in advance. I am so happy we came across this pub on Trip Advisor as it is off the beaten track but what a hidden gem it truly is. As soon as we stepped in the door we received a warm welcome with a menu already placed on the table for us. We both had steak and each one was cooked to perfection, the cheesy garlic bread was amazing also and pudding was just as good and there was a nice selection of cakes on the counter too. The landlady was lovely and checked in with us regularly and the chef / cook even came out to make sure all was okay with our meals which we couldn’t fault. This is a locals pub but tourists like us were made very welcome too.

Visited for a late lunch one January afternoon when struggling to find anywhere open for food at that time of year! It’s right in the middle of the village and clearly an old pub. Warmly welcomed. We went in to the conservatory side of the pub which whilst nice I felt the traditional bar would be cosier and it was!! Clearly a locals pub with some enjoying a drink at the bar but making us feel at home too. Menu is standard fare and we chose steak and chilli main dishes. Both came out as generous portions - the steak was well cooked with a nice blue cheese sauce. The chips and onion rings were also good. Chilli was a good size portion too. I’d asked for a mix of the nacho or rice option which was accommodated. I had asked if any guacamole or salsa was possible but there wasn’t. I thought there might be as they also have fajitas on the menu “with all the trimmings”. Not to worry. It was a nice enough chilli. The food was hot and filling and drinks were nice too. It’s a nice old pub and we enjoyed a game of darts after we’d eaten - something we haven’t done for years!!! I wouldn’t rave about the food. It was nice enough and well cooked. Home cooking style I’d say. Would eat here again if passing but I wouldnt go out of my way for the food. We had an enjoyable visit though.

Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of great live music and events for all with a lovely local atmosphere. Excellent food, especially the Sunday roast ( I have this almost every week!). Love love love my local the Carpenters Arms and cannot recommend highly enough x

We loved our visit to Carpenters Arms! It’s a gorgeous traditional English pub set in a Cornish village. We had a Sunday Roast which was delicious. Pudding was good too as were the drinks and atmosphere! The service was fantastic and the prices very reasonable. Would highly recommend it and will definitely return if we come back to this area again.

Although the pub was very busy we were made to feel very welcome by the new owners, staff and regulars. The restaurant was fully booked but still managed to fit us in for a meal which came out in very good time and was very well cooked too. Hope it works out well for the new owner, you can see the effort being put in to make the pub the centre of a lovely little villiage again.

Lovely meal here tonight, very reasonably priced. Happened upon steak night unintentionally. Our dog was welcomed with biscuits and I asked for a bowl of water for her which wasn't a problem. Ordered a sausage for the dog, also not an issue. Despite living locally we have given it a wide berth for years due to disappointing food. So glad the new owner is bringing the standards up to speed. We will definitely visit more regularly now.

My wife and I called in as it was 5mins from the cottage we were staying in. I had the rib eye steak and my wife a Thai curry. Clean plates all round and a bit of entertainment thrown in by a couple of locals (although not sure some of the language was necessary)

We went here for our wedding anniversary. The pub is set in a beautiful location worthy of the driver alone. Parking can be a challenge but we did have two large cars. And that's our problem. One your inside this gorgeous old pub you can't help but feel relaxed. It has a lovely atmosphere with very friendly staff. Then we come to the food. And I'm pleased to say that it was all very good indeed. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever with this fantastic pub. Very highly recommended 👌

Just visited today having been desparate to find a decent pub for lunch. What a little gem this place is! We arrived at 230, wondering if we might have missed the lunchtime deadline. Not at all. A really decent lunch at a very reasonable cost. Very nice staff who were very helpful. Highly recommend this place and would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

I was down in Harrowbarrow visiting my family and I popped along with my Mum, nephew and niece. The lady serving us was superb, entertained the kids and provided us a colouring book to keep them entertained. The drinks and food arrived promptly, all of the food was good but I went for fillet medallions off the specials board and it was absolutely superb, way above what I would class as 'pub food'. Full credit to the chef, the lady serving and the land lady who was around helping too. I had heard it was nice in there from my brother-in-law (I have only been in for a few beers previously over the years) but it was way above what I was expecting. Cheers

Called in today as it is close by to where we are staying at the Honicombe manor park. The landlady was amazing , she accommodated everything we needed . Staff were super friendly, and the food delicious and piping hot . Would definitely recommend anyone staying close by to give this place a visit. You won’t be disappointed . Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Excellent service and very warm and welcoming to. Even the customers engage in conversation and make this a very friendly pub indeed. A huge change since our last visit when the landlords seemed to be moving out. The new manageress along with Sam and the rest of the team are clearly making a well needed change. It’s far better than it’s counterpart the Archers arms in Lewannick.

It was absolutely amazing! Me and my partner loved the food and the atmosphere. The landlady was so welcoming and easy to talk too. Such a lovely pub. We stopped in for dinner on a day I felt less than perfect. The landlady served us and was super friendly, then insisted she discount our bill as she had been unhappy with the lasagne I ordered (I was very happy with it). The portions are so generous, I couldn't finish my plate. If you're looking for a warm welcoming pub this is the one.

Wonderful little place, visited just before Halloween all dressed spookily but very welcoming. The children loved it! The food was outstanding and the staff so courteous and welcoming. Only negative was the parking but worth the shuffling around of cars, really is well worth a visit
