Henlys in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Had a lovely evening out with friends this week at Henlys Wine bar. We recommend the green Thai curry, and the cocktails! Great atmosphere and good fun was had by all. It’s really nice to see Henlys open again in town. Also amazing service!! Can’t wait to visit again soon.

Visited for birthday gathered meal/ drinks. Great to see bar looking the part. Staff attentive and pleasant. Menu not that big of choice for evenings. No steaks and only 2 fish pies when another in party requested one. No grilled/ pot cooked meat dishes at all. The premises / bar were aware of party visit booking some 3 weeks previously so disappointed that nothing was done to ensure any menu choices were there to present to visitors. Little more attention to detail re menu choices required.

No atmosphere at all, food was terrible to say we were the only 2 people in there at 4:30, after a 45minute wait the food arrived, i had a fish pie with hardly any fish in it, 1 overcooked prawn and chewy calamari, my partner had the bacon and cheese burger, the bun was stale and the chips were raw, we complained to be told the chef had only cooked the chips once (they were meant to be twice cooked) so we waited for the chips to be re cooked- they came out again after another 10 minute wait.. low and behold still raw! Goes without saying we paid and couldnt get out of there quick enough, just seemed no care or attention, sorry guys avoid

Had an amazing brunch yesterday, the Avocado and herb dressing was delicious, best breakfast I’ve had! The new owners were extremely welcoming and had Excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back again and try the sharing platters! 🥰

Lovely wine bar which has just opened in Helston! We loved it so much we went two nights in a row on our weekend visit. We had the charcuterie board the first night which was amazing and huge! Then just went in for a few drinks the second night. Lovely venue, friendly staff and nice atmosphere!

Wonderful ambience. Great place for food and drinks. Food available in bar and upstairs restaurant both. You can pick based on your mood and company. Food had great taste and balanced spice. We were there to visit Mount and stayed overnight in Premier Inn which was not far from this place. Highly recommend it! 👌

Booked into Henley’s last minute, and what a pleasure it was. Service was brilliant and our host, Emma (I think), was fantastic. The food was perfect and our steak was probably one the best we’ve had. Cooked to perfection (it’s amazing how many get a simple steak cooked right so so wrong) but not here, absolute perfection. Best meal we have had all week in Cornwall! We will be back next year

Abbiamo preso delle portate fuori menù: una fonduta di camembert accompagnata da olive concie e da una insalatina; piatto equilibrato e direi anche elegante e poi dei petti di pollo ripieno, su un letto di verza e con dei pomodorini confit fatti davvero bene. C’è la possibilità di farsi portare dei vini al calice ad un prezzo ragionevole, mentre l’acqua gasata, portata a bicchiere, costa quasi come il vino. Un po’ meno bene il nostro dolce perché il gelato dichiarato vincitore di premi, non si è dimostrato all’altezza della sua fama. Si spendono dalle 25 alle 30 sterline a testa se non si esagera con i vini. Il posto può essere una piacevole variante alla pesante cucina locale.

We had just arrived on holiday and called in to Henlys for a quick drink before a meal elsewhere. We were greeted by a very friendly barmaid, who served us straight away. They have Cornish beers and cider on tap, which is what we want to see while on holiday in Cornwall. The deco was nice and the bar has a very relaxed and comfy atmosphere. While there we noticed that they have a 2 basket meals for £12 offer on a Tuesday and a 2 steaks and a bottle of house wine offer on a Wednesday. We decided to book in for both nights. We certainly weren't disappointed with either nights. On Tuesday we ate in the bar area, I had the BBQ chicken wings, while my wife had the chicken strips. Our son chose the baked cod off the specials menu. All our meals were very nice and me and my some chose to have a desert. My son had the chocolate fondant and I had the lemon tart, which I can highly recommend. On the Wednesday we ate in the restaurant, me and my wife had the 2 x steak offer while my son chose the Plaice off the main menu, which he enjoyed very much. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the wine was very nice. Once again all the staff were very friendly and, like the bar downstairs, the restaurant has a nice relaxed atmosphere. All in all we have had 3 very good experiences at Henlys and will certainly be visiting again when we are next on holiday in the area.

We visited Henlys while on holiday in Cornwall. We went on a Tuesday evening and they had a special offer on 2 basket meals for 12 quid. It was quiet in the bar area and we were made to feel very welcome by the owner. They offer a choice of Cornish beers and cider, I had a pint of Korev and my wife chose a large glass of white wine. For our meal I had the chicken wings and my wife had the chicken strips, both of these were basket meals. Our son chose baked cod off the specials menu. All 3 meals were very tasty. Me and my son had deserts, he had a chocolate fondant, which he enjoyed very much, and I had the lemon tart, which was excellent. We all enjoyed our experience that much we booked for the following evening for the 2 x steaks for £50. (I'll review that later).

We popped in on Monday night for a quick tea, it was pretty quiet but 2 really helpful and friendly staff members made us feel welcome. They made a fuss of our 2 dogs too and brought them water. The food was excellent! Very fresh and so tasty. I had a burger which was amazing, was stuffed after. My partner had the steak which again was cooked just right. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Not great in afraid . Steak was wet like it had been boiled . Peas very over cooked, best part was the chips and mushroom . Also water on the table was warm . Disappointing.

Change of owner warning. So what shown on the Google reviews cannot tell what the restaurant is these days. The service in the restaurant was okay but food was really not. We ordered one chill sweet chicken linguine and a burger with fried fish (can’t remember the exact name). We can’t reckon the noodles served can be considered as linguine in any ways, and the “linguine” was overly sweet. We even thought of asking for a bowl of water to put the noodle in so that it can downplay the taste. Meanwhile, the chicken was overcooked and hard to chew unfortunately. The burger was somewhat mediocre, the only merit of the dish was that the fries were relatively okay.

My husband and I were trying to find somewhere really nice to have our dinner. We choose a good one here. We had fish goujons and chips and the prawn curry. Totally delicious! I’m still thinking about our meal the day after! Well done chef! We were made to feel really welcome and the staff were helpful and friendly. The drinks were good, my husband had a cider and o had a delicious strawberry daquiri. So impressed we hope to return again this week for another meal.

We went out on the bank holiday expecting to eat fast food, but we found this lovely restaurant with excellent food and service. We got the very nice ribeye steak, lovely prawn curry and very good stack burger. Recommend if you are in the Helston area.

It was not easy to find a restaurant open in Helston early in the week. Henly's was excellent for both fish and meat main dishes and I thoroughly recommend it.

Delicious roast with great presentation with a delicious pudding to follow up. Will definitely be coming back.

Over the Christmas period of 2022 we had a staff lunch at Henlys and then also had a birthday meal for my sister between Christmas and New Year. The whole experience was brilliant with great service and great food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff on both occasions, even making sure my 1 yea old son was catered for appropriately. With the food being so good and value for money we will definitely be using them a lot more often.

Booked the festive menu for my son’s 30th birthday on the 23rd. The food was delicious and the staff were amazing. We had a great evening, thank you!!!

Amy and the team did everything they could to make us feel welcome as always. Food was fantastic, wines were great, service was outstanding and the whole experience was just out of this world. The first timers amongst us haven't stopped talking about how they were treated and there never eaten that well in such relaxed surroundings. I fear the reservation system may now be going into overload. Thanks again Henlys, you guys just knock it out the park every single time

This is the 2nd time I’ve visited this bar & restaurant & both experiences have been 10/10. It’s on the side street in Helston & I had been recommended dining here from friends as they all had a great experience here. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with friendly staff who make you feel so welcome. We dined here on a Wednesday evening & ordered the steak night offer…both went for fillet & a bottle of wine then added a few sides. The steak was cooked perfectly & the presentation & quality of ingredients on the plate was evident. This has to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere is relaxed & the blonde lady serving us was brilliant…service here is really good. Looking forward to returning again soon.

This place is MINT! I was craving an old fashioned and wasn't sure if it was on the menu but Amy was more than happy to make one for me. The food was fantastic as always and the friendly team made sure we were well looked after. We're lucky enough to try and get down here twice a year from Bristol. If you're local or just visiting I would recommend this place as Helstons BEST bar and restaurant. (PS it's very dog friendly!)

When we lived in Helston henlys became our local because of the staff, the variety, the atmosphere and of course the fact it's dog friendly! From an afternoon lunch and a pint to a few cocktails on a weekend; it's stayed consistently incredible for years. We no longer live in Cornwall but if we so much as get near Bodmin for a stay... we will absolutely drive the extra distance and make time for a few hours here. If you like a cocktail, peruse the incredible menu and the team will prepare you something amazing. Guaranteed!! Thanks again to Amy, Sean and the team for a wonderful visit.

Booked here last minute and what a find really enjoyed everything about this place, we was sitted in the bar area, the vibe of the restaurant was really enjoyable, staff were great really helpful and friendly and the food was very yummy I had a medium rare steak and it was seasoned to perfection I was still thinking how good this steak was 5 days later. Can't wait to go back.

When we got married in August we were in a great atmosphere, all the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and quite unusual which is great at a wedding buffet. There were plenty of staff on hand and I thought it was a really good place to have our reception of forty people.

Last week 12 of us had three course meals on the Friday night steak offer. We were all pleased with our meals which arrived at the same time. All the steaks (10 had steaks) were cooked just as requested. Thank you from us all for a very enjoyable meal.

Last minute decision to go out for a meal and found Henleys Bar & Restaurant. Made a reservation just to be sure if a table and off we went. As we had our dog with us we had to eat downstairs, not a problem and we were shown to our table and water was supplied for us and the dog. The meal was absolutely beautiful. Perfectly cooked and served with a smile. Granted, this is not the cheapest place to eat but the food was worth the price. Fresh, clean flavours that you could taste, perfectly spiced and seasoned. The chef should be very proud of his abilities. Highly recommended. Hope to come again when we are passing this way in the future. Thank you.
