MORE AT Google

We visited here for a lunch stop today on our way back home with our two young children. We went inside to order and found there was little inside seating - just some high stools at the windows which the children wouldn't have been able to sit at very easily. This wasn't a problem at all - we decided to sit in one of the 3 little beach huts outside which the children liked the look of. The lady who took our order was polite and friendly, and asked where we would be sitting. We told her in one of the huts and she said this was fine. We went out to the huts and as it had been raining, the seats and table were wet - again, not a problem, we quickly dried them off with some tissue. Our food was brought out quickly by the nice lady who took the order and was nice. It then got windy and started raining again, so we started getting wet as the doors to the hut were open. The nice lady came out and was apologetic that we were getting wet, gave us some tissue and tried to close the doors. We told her it was fine, not to worry, we didn't mind a bit of wind and rain. She closed the doors and left, but they blew open in the wind minutes later. My husband closed them again, but as there is no way to secure them from the inside, they blew open in the wind again. A blonde woman came out and was very arsey with us, saying 'you need to keep these doors closed! It's damaging the building!' I told her it was not deliberate, we were trying to keep them closed but they were blowing open in the wind. She replied 'well it's too windy to be out here! It's damaging the building!' I didn't appreciate being spoken to like that when it wasn't our fault the doors kept blowing open. It was not that windy or rainy when we arrived. Why not close the huts on wet days or tell customers that they cannot sit there? Why not provide some kind of catch for closing the doors on the inside for instances when the weather becomes bad and the doors need to be closed but customers are already inside? Why not come out and politely ask us to relocate inside due to the turn in the weather? At this point we left - one of the children hadn't finished eating but we got the remainder of her panini put in a bag to take out. Overall - nice location, lots of (pay and display) parking, nice food, just a shame about the one rude member of staff (again, the lady who took our order was welcoming and friendly).

What's the difference to a customer wanting a coffee and a customer wanting to hire two kayak's ? Well to Talland cafe its a lot. Made a special journey to Tallnd Bay with my daughter to hire two kayaks, was abruptly told by the lady serving that they were too busy to hire out Kayaks !! They need to change their website to Kayak's for hire ( but only when it suits ). Went to Looe Sea Safari instead. Just a side note, if your going to Talland Bay, take a picnic, you'll save an absolute fortune.

We walk Looe to Polperro most years when in Cornwall. However this was our first visit to Talland Bay Cafe as the other cafe was closed. We took tea, cake and cold drinks towards the end of the day and everything was perfectly good. Cake sizes were great, the price was if not cheap, no more than you'd expect and certainly not OTT. If I could be picky I'd say the Tea wasn't prepared with the same love as coffee and it perhaps felt a bit canteeny at the counter. The man behind the counter and clearing tables in particular was great. The tables in huts are as welcome in the high sun as they are on the blustery days. Toilets are portaloos funded by the cafe, albeit perhaps spoiled by some grumpy notices about the council not refurbishing the public loos. Presumably so the cafe can get free loos.

Didn't even get drinks as I couldn't afford to. They also charged me an extra 50p for red onion for some reason because I swapped my chutney from apple cider to red onion....wasn't aware there was a charge I just expressed I was not keen on apple and they said they had red onion chutney instead.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I recently visited Talland Bay Cafe and wanted to share my experience. Unfortunately, my visit took an unexpected turn due to a safety issue with the outdoor seating, which resulted in a significant injury and subsequent health complications. While sitting on the benches outside the cafe, I encountered an alarming problem. The benches were untreated and lacked any protective paint, which led to a regrettable incident. As I sat down, I unintentionally cut my leg on a jagged piece of wood, resulting in a deep wound. To my dismay, a half-inch splinter became lodged in my leg, and despite my attempts, I was unable to remove it. The severity of the situation escalated when the wound became infected, necessitating immediate medical attention. I had to endure a lengthy five-hour wait at Liskeard Community Hospital, where healthcare professionals provided the necessary treatment and prescribed a course of penicillin to combat the infection. This unfortunate turn of events has significantly impacted my holiday, as I now must adhere to specific meal times in order to coordinate my penicillin intake. In light of this distressing experience, I implore Talland Bay Cafe to urgently address the safety of their seating arrangements. It is imperative that the management thoroughly inspects the benches, removes any jagged wood or potential hazards, and takes appropriate measures to ensure the safety of their patrons. A thorough sanding down of the benches would greatly reduce the risk of injuries like the one I sustained. While I acknowledge that accidents can happen, the repercussions of this incident have been far-reaching and have marred what should have been an enjoyable visit to your cafe. I believe it is of utmost importance that Talland Bay Cafe takes immediate action to rectify the safety issue and prevent any future occurrences. It is my hope that by sharing my unfortunate experience, the management of Talland Bay Cafe will take this matter seriously and prioritize the safety and well-being of their customers. It is crucial that measures are implemented to prevent similar incidents from happening to others in the future. Please be aware that this review reflects my personal experience and the negative impact it had on my holiday. I encourage potential visitors to exercise caution when using the outdoor seating at Talland Bay Cafe until the necessary safety measures have been implemented. Disclaimer: Please note that this review is based on my personal experience and should not be considered as a definitive representation of all experiences at Talland Bay Cafe. Others may have had different encounters, and I encourage readers to consider multiple perspectives before forming an opinion about the establishment.
