The Shack in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We had the seafood platter for two and certainly was worth the price. The waitress was insanely friendly and was quick to assist when we asked how to open the crab and what parts we could eat and couldn’t (we had never had crab before). The garlic prawns were incredible, highly recommend.

Good fish restaurant close to the center of Falmouth. You Need to book in advance for an inside table.

My husband and I had lunch there in September 2023. Hubby had a crab sandwich, I had mussels. They were both very good. My mussels were lovely, tasty and large. My husband mopped up the white wine sauce and declared it the best he had ever had.

Absolutely delicious food with really lovely efficient waiting staff. Nothing was too much trouble & there was no rush for us to leave the table. I would award them more than 5 stars if I could. 😁😁😁

We had a family meal - late lunch - here, a couple of days ago. It was lovely! The other people in the restaurant were equally happy, there was a young italian family too. There is a good children’s menu. The oysters are excellent but tend to sell out. I had fish and chips; they were so well made the food did not feel heavy on the stomach. Check opening times and book in advance, if you want to eat here, as it gets busy. We did not book but luckily it was 45 mins to closing so we got a table. I can’t remember if there was baby change facilities here, but the very good maritime museum, 1 minute walk away, has some there. Staff were very nice. Chefs very professional. I would recommend this restaurant very highly… good for families were young children too.

Dined here last night with our guest from USA. 3 of us shared a delicious Shack Stack Seafood Platter which was amazing and one had Fish & Chips which was also top class fresh fish.. Excellent service reasonable price and lovely relaxed ambient atmosphere. Highly recommend. We will be back. Thank you Shack Team

What a lovely evening ! We ordered the seafood sharing platter, 2 lobsters, and the mussels, which just about all fitted onto our table (pictures provided). We really enjoyed everything (particularly the lobsters !). It was a nice and relaxed setting with great fresh seafood, and good unobtrusive service. We though it represented good value, and would definitely return when next in Falmouth. You may need to order Lobsters in advance (so check when booking to avoid disappointment !)

Visited on Sunday 27 August with family(4 of us) This must be the best place to eat in Falmouth, the food and service was second to none. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, superb, definitely a place we will visit again.

Wow!! If you like seafood this is the place to go. We had mussels, clam chowder and fish and chips... All the best I've ever had. Real depth of flavour for the clam chowder, massive delicious grit free mussels and beautiful fresh fish and chips. Service was fantastic. Really knowledgeable and attentive, friendly service.

Our first meal in Cornwall and certainly one of the most memorable, service was amazing and the staff were so accommodating, we sat outside since it was a full house inside but asked to move tables closer to the entrance of the restaurant where it was a bit warmer and they gave us blankets too. We ordered the seafood platter for 3 and an extra side of calamari and was concerned it wasn’t going to be enough but we were oh so wrong - this magnificent spread of seafood could feed 4 easily as we couldn’t even finish it and had to take some home. Everything was just so delicious, especially the scallops and mussels in white wine sauce and the huge crab which was briny and meaty. You definitely get your moneys worth coming here, and will leave happily stuffed! We will visit again when we come back to Cornwall!

There’s a relaxed vibe with funky decor. The staff are friendly and relaxed. The food itself is to die for. Lots of choice and variety - all good.

We booked a table for 12.15 for lunch and were about the 3rd table taken in the restaurant The service was poor and the food mundane. I had to ask 3 staff talking amongst them selves to take our order . The food orders arrived very slowly through the restauarant but most tables were getting their food and ours did not arrive When I asked what had happened to our order after discussion in the kitchen I was told that our order was “ more complicated “ hence the delay MORE COMPLICATED! A child’s fish and chips, 2 lots of mussels and a butterflied mackerel and salad ! No real apology really We used to love this restaurant but the menu is really basic and dull and service laughable

Really nice restaurant, busy and relaxed. The staff were very welcoming and the food for both adults and the children was excellent but the calamari was the best I have EVER tasted - so fresh!

You know you’re in the right place for seafood when you’re standing in the doorway - just breathe in! Clean place/staff/tables. Friendly staff. I must confess the only thing I’ve eaten there is the seafood platter. Twice. Not the same night. Just fantastic.

Absolutely no faults with this place. I went here with my girlfriend for an evening out two days ago since we are on holiday. It was completely full at 8:15pm when we arrived, and stayed that way even over an hour later when we left. That’s how you know the food’s gonna be good. The staff are friendly and professional, and did a great job providing an excellent service even though they were understaffed on the day we ate. We had the seafood platter for two with the dressed crab (the normal whole crab was sold out, I imagine because it’s delicious). Everything on the plate was amazingly tasty, beautifully cooked and had a perfect texture. The crevettes (prawns) especially blew my mind - the shells came off so easily and they were absolutely stunning in flavour and texture. The price was higher than average I’d say, but incredibly reasonable for a meal out. I hope I can eat here again one day. Highly recommended.

Acceptable lunch. Good dressed crab. Decent but small mussels. Disappointing vegetarian option. All dishes too salty for our taste, especially the veggie plate.

Enjoyed a great evening meal here having tried earlier in the week for a walk-in to be told they were fully booked. Recommend booking if eating around the earlier family meal times from 6pm. Staff were a highlight, really attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the fish platter which was nicely presented and well cooked.

Out with our family of four, my wife and I shared the seafood platter with a dressed crab - it was simply flawless and more than we could finish. The kids enjoyed some scampi and chips and wolfed the lot. We couldn't stay for dessert but thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The service was excellent as ever and the atmosphere relaxed.

You always need to book the Shack. The seafood is v well prepared. there is a good variety & the staff are excellent. The fish & chips were well worth the journey. the wine liust is interesting too.

The waiter that greeted us was obnoxious and rude. He clearly has a problem with babies as he said he couldn't seat us as we had a pram. Bearing in mind only 1 table was occupied. He told us babies had to sit outside, it was so windy their sign blew over.

This is quite a local specialist restaurant offering a great range of fish and crab - but you do need to pre-order lobster, if required. We shared a huge platter featuring a whole crab (which we should have ordered "dressed"), mussels, king prawns, squid, chips and bread! We couldn't finish it all, despite our best efforts and warn you that you need to bring your full appetite!

Such a great little place! They very graciously fit me in as a walk-in and I’m over the moon they did! Really delicious, not too complicated, very fresh seafood/fish dishes. I had oysters, the scallops with a seaweed butter and their amazing smoked haddock and bacon chowder. The picpoul was gorgeous! But putting the beautiful food aside the service was above and beyond. Super friendly, casual in the best way, enthusiastic, efficient and more. And to literally top it all off, I had left my novel there and one of the servers had listened to where I worked and phoned to tell my staff that I had left the book. Who does that!! How thoughtful and kind to take the time. I cannot recommend this place enough, thank you so much for having me!☺️🙏

We just went to the Shack last night for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were overwhelmed by the exceptional service the gentleman provided. They made our 10th anniversary especially memorable. We tried to say thanks again before we left but the gentleman was too busy back by the kitchen and we were rushing for a movie. My husband's steak was cooked to perfection. The amount of my seafood starter and main were so generous! I was so full. I loved their homemade seafood dip which was so tasty. I personally would love more flavour with the mussels and the whole crab. But they were still very nice. I'll definitely try the seafood platter for 2/3 to share when we bring our girls next time because my husband doesn't eat seafood! Anyway, thanks so much for being a highlight of our 10th anniversary! 💕

We stumbled upon The Shack last night, our first night in Falmouth. Omg…what a treat. The seafood platter and the lemon tart… both the best we’ve ever had.

The scallops were delicious, served with samphire. We had the best fish and chips we've had in a long time. The service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Service was exceptional and the food was even better, delicious fresh seafood. Would recommend the prawns and chowder or the seafood platter if you have more money to spend. We have chosen to come here a few times due to the amazing food and staff.

Great great little place. Food was all very good and the service was even better! Highly recommend, the Singapore chilli crab is amazing and has so so much flavour. The chowder was a runny soup, not what I expected but flavour was great. Prawns were very good too. Kudos to the guy working there at lunch. Very friendly service and attentive throughout.

On our way back from our long weekend on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall, we stopped for lunch in Falmouth. I came across The Shack by chance , I ordered a crab roll and it was done to perfection. Fresh and delicious. Even the salad was done properly ( not just some salad leaves)As a seafood chef myself, every little details counts - the correct mixture samphire in the salad- The clever use of the brown cram meat as a dressing on top of the white meat and not mixed together. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who love seafood. The front of the house staff was very polite and welcoming. Well done to the chef. Jalall 🦀🦐🦑
