The Barrington Boar in South Somerset

We've eaten with you a few times now and always really enjoyed it, but the new taster menu on Saturday evening was exceptional! The best meal we've had for a long time! See you again soon!

Lovely restaurant. Staff were so helpful and friendly. All three courses were delicious. The aged sirloin was simply the best we have ever had. Other dishes were complex and modern and beautifully presented. Well done.

A warm welcome from Bar staff on arrival. Very busy, but staff coped well , we didn't have a wait for service. Good selection of drinks which were well priced. Food was top notch for all of us , couldn't fault it , the flavours were superb and were complimented the presentation . We all commented how good it was. Well looked after by the staff. Thank you for a lovely evening. Would recommend a visit.

Loved the interesting ingredients and, thus, the interesting food.

Stumbled across this gem, warm welcome upon entry, lovely clean venue, well lit with a comfortable feel. We were acknowledged immediately and sat at our table. Menu was not to big and seemed reasonably priced. Our starters came out promptly, presented well, hot and on heated plates ( seems ridiculous but now we are a bit longer in the tooth its the little things that matter to us) food was tasty and cooked just right. Main courses were delivered not long after. My hake was cooked perfectly with a sauce that was to die for. I didnt try the rest of our tables food but the empty plates and big smiles told the story, so much better than what we experienced just the day before nearer to home. You folks are a credit to the area and we will be back when we find ourselves down that way in the future. Marvellous!

The Boar is a favourite of ours and took our friends, having raved over it...sadly the atmosphere was not good and we were sadly disappointed. Food excellent as always - feeling sad and let down.

Food,place, staff fantastic. We even bought a bottle of the hand soap as it smelt so nice. Will definitely visit again.

By far and away, the loveliest restaurant in our neck of the woods. The service is immaculate, the food delicious and the plates of food generous. And ... the rhubarb Baked Alaska was to die for. We cannot fault our lunch at the Barrington Boar - a resounding 10/10. We were not the only ones to think so, the restaurant was full! Thank you, and well done

This pub is NOT wheelchair accessible. When booking several weeks in advance I specified I needed wheelchair access. Only ON THE DAY I reserved for was I informed there is no wheelchair access toilet. This is shockingly poor, not least as the manager claims she does not claim that her pub is wheelchair accessible when the listing on TripAdvisor clearly states it is. The manager seems to thinks her establishment is rather too good to be accessible to all. But it clearly isn't as upmarket as she would like to think. Avoid, if only for the attitude of the manager.

Extremely good service and food. Just a little expensive for regular visits. Possibly return on a special occasion.

Really very special cooking. This was my second visit and I was even more impressed with the food. The friendly professional service in this comfortable relaxed countryside pub restaurant is really worth a visit. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. Looking forward to returning again and enjoying the surrounding countryside.

On first visit for me to Barrington I was happy it lived up to its reputation.

Modernised traditional Somerset pub in attractive village. Open and light bar area with wide choice of gin and a varied and well chosen wine list including by the glass. Odd there is no draught cider. Excellent service and superb food. Really liked the smoked fish roe sharer starter with sour dough crackers. Rooms at the back were warm and snug with neutral decor. Good bed. Powerful shower and local shower wash. Coffee pod machine and tea/ coffee available .

Had a nice meal here a few weeks ago - I doubled up with duck liver parfait to start and the duck main. Both were very tasty and I didn't have room for dessert which is a good sign, given that food this fancy usually skimps on quantity. Service was friendly and overall enjoyed the meal. The pub has a car park at the back.

Exceeded our expectation. The food is outstanding! The staff was warm and even provided my sister with some food for breakfast as the place they were staying only left them a chocolate cake for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable and the price seemed too good to be true. We live in California and were there for a special event. So won't be back, unfortunately, but we highly recommend!

How lovely to dine somewhere which feels so comfortable, the service is lovely, and the food really terrific. All helped by a log fire to give that sense of cosiness on a dark winter’s evenings. Marvellous place in a peaceful Somerset village.

Nice venue. I was looking into booking a room with breakfast, for one night but they don't allow it? It has to be two nights, and with evening meal. I would have thought they would let guests book one night? It was pricey also.

Had an enjoyable lunch and will return for dinner soon. The Barrington Boar is the sort of pub that you wish you could find in more places round the country - a relaxed, warm atmosphere, very good food, and a friendly welcome. We had an exceptional meal.
