Been here for Sunday lunch a few times and has always been good. Unfortunately not the case today, tough inedible beef, sliced too think, hard broccoli, cauliflower cheese with no cheese and a strange tangy white sauce. When asked if everything was ok, did point out the issues to the young waitress. I don’t usually complain but felt they should know the issues as their food normally very good. No acknowledgement or apology was received. Shame because if it had been I probably wouldn’t have left a review.

Lovely stop for lunch. Very friendly, relaxed country pub on a farm in a small village. Great pub food for very reasonable price.

We waited an hour for our starter, a starter of garlic mushrooms and pate all was pretty average, a quick sorry for the delay from what we think was the manager! The mains then took another forty five minutes, all the steaks were very overcooked we asked for med rare the two ribeyes were cooked med well and definately not worth the £25.95 and certainly were not special as advertised. The watress did ask about the food and she did offer to change my steak, I know it should take around eight minutes plus resting for a med rare steak of that size, I just couldnt take the chance of it taking another forty five minutes, so declined. Non of our party finished any of our meals! No explanation as to why it took so long! No apology from the manager! It appeared they served known customers first! All in all a very unhappy experiance ! They did take the price of one steak off the bill. We will not be returning that is for sure.

Best pub around, amazing pub food and friendly staff & Sara’s brownies are the best ever!

Unfortunately the smallest roast we have ever had. Never left a pub after eating one still feeling hungry, only 3 roast potatoes and a small amount of veg 😣

Four of us went to Sonny’s last night. It was Fish night, although other things were available. I had Scallops with chorizo and home made bread. Angela had garlic mushrooms which were excellent. For mains, I had a large Sea bass which was simply grilled and perfectly cooked with sauté potatoes and samphire. Delicious. Others had Confit Duck, Sole and Beef and Ale Pie. All good. Two had desserts, Chocolate Brownie and Crème Brûlée. Both excellent. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. Good beer and excellent choice of wines and spirits. Reasonable prices. Very friendly atmosphere and they have a good mix between the restaurant and a locals pub. Will always go again. Thank you all.

Wonderful Sunday lunch here on Mothering Sunday! Fantastic home cooked food! All the favourites available! Nothing cooked chilled about this place! Thank goodness that real authentic places like this still exist! Fabulous staff! Love Martha most! Such good value 3 courses for my son & I and £60 with drinks! Compared to the pub in the village I live in Mudford who serve an extensive menu but all cooked chill & charge double the price if you can even eat it! Please support this family run business that has been running as long as I can remember! Anyway thank you for another wonderful lunch !❤️❤️🚩

Worth the time finding this place, went with friends for a seafood night, each course was delicious, well presented and cooked to perfection, oyster. Crab, mackerel, monkfish, black bream cooked different ways but all so tasty. It really was a great night with friends, the fires were lit making the place very cosy and the staff delivered first class service. I just wish this was my local.

Fantastic Xmas meal here! Catered easily for a large party and met all our dietary requirements. Food amazing, and came out piping hot. Staff work so hard and very accommodating. Very cosy and warm. Highly recommended for couples/families.

Some very unsavoury types allowed in on Boxing Day - no control over their dogs.

Four of us had Christmas dinner tonight, the meal was excellent, wonderful fresh vegetables, and Christmas pudding was delicious. Great staff, and value for money, highly recommend.

Had a great evening with my work collegues celebrating our fantastic ofsted. 21 covers, all delicious, hot and served in good time. Staff friendly and helpful. We are returning customers which speaks volumes as finding a place that 21 people all love to eat at can be tricky! Thank you Royal Oak!

We came here for Sunday lunch and it was very good. Very good value for money. Reasonably priced and very friendly staff. A decent amount to choose from on the menu for a Sunday we would definitely come again.

Popped in for a light lunch after a walk today, absolutely delicious ciabatta and chips, large portions, at a very reasonable price. Staff are so friendly,and helpful, a perfect country pub.

The best pub in Somerset for a quaint experience! The staff are super helpful and the food all home made is excellent! Produce is local and menu changes regularly with lots of themed nights! Last week our roast lunch was outstanding! A must if you have not been before!

Well cooked, well presented, quality food. Pub favourites and great fish specials. Puddings also really good with a great selection and good portions. As for the drinks, the most popular lager and beer prices are kept low, as are soft drinks (so you don't feel ripped off as the driver). Also the option of premium brands.

Can’t fault it. Wonderful quaint village pub with great selection of drinks at sensible prices and food to die for. Simple starter selection, but the prawns and whitebait were very good. The mains however, are their specialty. Wonderful looking mains selection, but my fiancé and I both had specials, and that’s what they were, special. Delicious pork belly with mash and tender stem broccoli, and a fantastically tender lamb. Excellent.

Great Pub. Just moved into Village and need a meal. GF menu was good. Service was friendly and efficient. All in all a lovely evening. Plus they serve our favourite Harry's Cider. So pleased to have this in the village we will be back!!

Visited last Saturday Night. The whole meal was exceptional the fish was beautifully cooked tasty and well presented. The steak very tasty and generous helping. Cannot fault any of the meal great value for money welcoming staff and a very nice glass of pinot grigio!

We love going to differant pubs close to home and at the Royal oak was a wood burner I sat next to enjoying the wonderful warmth it radiated we had our one drink each and before finishing more and more people arrived giving off a lovely buzz of friendship and chat Seemed a place people enjoy going to eat drink and socialise in

Fantastic Sunday roast mmm, everything cooked to perfection and loads of lovely fresh seasonal veg, delicious desserts (I was too full but partner & son enjoyed!) and friendly fuss-free service, a very lovely afternoon thank you to all.

Just been for a family meal at the Royal Oak, the 6 course taster menu. Excellent food, superb value for money, friendly service and great atmosphere. They even catered for my fussy teenager with alternative dishes. Will definitely return

Visited here for Sunday roast. Very welcoming and dog friendly. Very tasty food would definitely recommend. We booked on the day and they accommodated a table for 6 with 4 dogs which was fantastic

Cannot understand how this place gets 4.7*. Very very average at best. Luckily prices were cheap. There was sick in the 'garden' and dog poo on the grass. Food was .... fine. Service was friendly and all credit to the staff for being welcoming to somewhere that completely lacked atmosphere and character.

Still as good as ever despite the storms and power cuts we had this weekend. So now 13th July 2022. Still as good as ever. I feel lucky to be a part of this.

They were nothing but accomodating when we wished to alter our plans & have a much more low key reception, including a whole new menu despite having only three months notice. The staff were absolutely incredibly, very friendly & nothing but polite. Including one going off shift who wished us congratulations etc. The food was absolutely delicious, the portion sizes were good & everyone said how fab the food was. We were also all absolutely stuffed. Overall, we had a brilliant day & nothing was too much trouble, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, the staff were top notch & amazing food. We will definitely be back again!

Lovely food (went for Sunday lunch)and friendly staff but rather noisy, maybe need some soft furnishings to soak up some of the noise

Went there for lunch with the wife. Starters and mains were both lovely. Shame we wasn’t offered the specials menu, we found out after ordering we could of ordered from it. Was actually the main reason we went there after seeing the specials on Facebook. Unfortunately there seemed to be an abundance of flies in the restaurant otherwise we may for stay for some pudding. Over all, the staff and food was great.

Great menu, proper home cooked food. Thoughtful choices of fish, meat and vegetarian. We called in for lunch and were so impressed. A lovely welcome, very relaxing. Covid sensible. Great value. Would highly recommend. We'll definitely be back,

This pub is by far the best in Somerset. Set in the countryside it offers great charm & excellent service great food and a great choice of drinks. Well worth any journey to get there. You won’t regret it!
