Brilliant customer service and food are as fresh as you can get it as done to order. It has a nice decent size of light buttered and crisp fish and chips as always been a regular customer on fortnight visits.

Been coming here since it opened, was absolutely fantastic Fish n Chips at a reasonable price. Was very impressed. Yesterday, ah, totally different Fish was very very thin no meat what so ever with a thick batter, the chips. were awful like lunchtime rewarms hard and flavourless a waste of twenty four pounds for two very disappointed

This is how all restaurants should be. We were greeted and seated efficiently and the service throughout was second to none. The menu is fundamentally British seafood, has a wide selection but it also has dishes for all tastes. Four of us had had a varied selection from what was on offer and unanimously found the food superbly cooked and presented. It is reasonably priced too and comes out of the kitchen quickly. I can't fault them. This is one of the best restaurants I have been in for some time. It is welcoming, cosy and the staff are superb! I can't recommend it enough. A couple of tips, first book ahead. It is a small restaurant, popular and has limited seating. Second, bring your own alcoholic drinks as it is not licensed. They will charge a corking fee for wine but it is minimal and they will provide ice wraps and glasses.

Whilst staying nearby we decided to go here on our last evening. We had an excellent seafood (mussels, crab, crevettes, etc) meal in the restaurant, the staff were very busy but found time to make us welcome, most of the other diners seemed to be regulars. If you want the seafood platter that has lobster etc. It needs to be ordered in advance. Will certainly go again when in the area.

Such a shame, it isn't as good as it use to be , the last 4 times we have been for takeaway not good at all fish is much smaller now and not so good. Last time we will be going there.

Good fish & chips and lots of gluten free options

Absolutely excellent fish & chips restaurant & takeaway, with the restaurant also offering other dishes on specials for anyone who might want something different. The restaurant is very cosy and well decorated with limited seating, so highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. The staff are really friendly and welcoming, and the food is made fresh, very well presented and takes the amount of time you'd expect from ordering to being received at the table. Can't imagine having fish & chips anywhere else now!

Had the Monk Fish Goujons off the Special’s Board and they were absolutely delicious. 😋 Best goujons I’ve ever eaten! Highly recommend.

We have just visited for dinner. The food was really delicious. We are Vegan The Banana Blossom and never ending chips were terrific. The staff were lovely. The ambience was very cosy. We will definitely visit again .

What a fantastic gluten free meal. Thank you to the young waiter who was so attentive and to Martyn the chef who came to chat. Fantastic service, will definitely be back.

Superb evening, I can't fault it. Friendly, willing staff obviously motivated by customer comfort. This is a walk-in chippy with a restaurant upstairs, where you will find a menu that is definitely not restricted by a traditional view of all things seaborne.

Amazing food and gluten free options! I would go as far as to say these are the best fish and chips I've ever had. The chips were particularly nice and not greasy like I'm used to at a chippy. I would definitely recommend coming here! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the gluten free battered mars bar and I loved the pea fritter. We will definitely be back.

Excellent food for all four of us. I am a ceoliac, and my husband and I both have other severe allergies. We were so well looked after . It was an absolute joy to eat without any worry and relax. A rare treat.

So much more than a great fish & chip shop! We ate in the restaurant last night & it was terrific. On arrival upstairs, you immeadiatly notice the light, bright room set with Linen tablecloths & napkins, spotlessly clean glasses & such a warm, friendly welcome. Yes, the menu was mainly fish & chips, but what a variety... From curried Monkfish to an appealing,  but understandably expensive Seafood platter. A very wide range of starters, it was difficult to choose & several favourite starters were offered as generious main courses, which was an excellent idea. Such as Mussels cooked in local Cider, garlic & cream. I opted for an Italian speciality, where there were a few pieces of everything: Scampi, Squid, Gunard, Cod & huge Whitebait. Such good value & sadly too much to finish, but so tasty & very well presented & cooked. The wine list was a suitable size with a good selection on offer at mainly reasonable prices. For me, one of the most delightful things to learn was that is truly a family affair, with three generations working happily together to create this hidden gem of a restaurant. Thank you.

We chose Something Else as a midpoint for friends to meet, reviews suggested it would be good but lunch exceeded expectations. We both had haddock, chips and mushy peas. Wonderfully light batter on fresh haddock, brilliant chips and excellent home steeped mushy peas. Our waitress Tory was charming and efficient, the upstairs restaurant is very welcoming and a really nice place to be. If only we lived closer.

Delicious fish only the chips are not my taste. I like the Dutch with crispy baked.

Fish was good, scampi was poor, chips were awful

Wonderful starter from the specials board. Unfortunately the plaice in crumbs was overcooked. The crumb being very dark in colour and brittle.

Repeat visit to the takeaway at Something Else Fishy. Great fresh fish and chips cooked to perfection with the option of a dine in restaurant too.

This is our favourite place for fish and chips, quite THE best in the area, and such friendly staff, highly recommend.

Asked a friend to get me a large cod, they got a regular. I have had bigger bits of scampi! Not great tbh, where cod was so small and thin had over cooked, chips were ok standard chipshop chips.

We had a 2 family takeaway orders placed minutes apart well 15mins apart due to app fault part of my family recieved there's, 51 minutes before mine just 2 roads away and hot/warm me I recieved mine stating to the driver how I was looking forward to award winning fish and chips, to be handed a barely warm nearer to cold order, having contacted the chippy to find out where the order was they said any problems ring them back, so I did, they apologised, explained about the 5 orders they recieved between my families 2 orders which I understand, agreed to refund in 2 days time, I admit I tried to eat it but goodness me No...they did also offer to replace it which I said yes to but there was a long delivery attempt before they'd return and then the driver would be off duty, so the meal its been binned, definately not award winning in my eyes. And it's a sad day to post negatively against a business that obviously is normally pretty good if not great in service and take away. What a shame.

Fish and chips have now become our weekly treat! Service is fast and efficient and food is freshly prepared and piping hot.

Superb fish and chips , but a varied menu available too, catering for people with specific dietary requirements . Friendly welcoming staff and loved the decor , many artistic touches. I absolutely adore this place! Have been numerous times for take out and to eat in and the food is always delicious and the service is absolutely brilliant. Lovely selections of dishes and there are always some enticing specials. The whole team are so friendly and knowledgeable. Couldn't recommend Something Else Fishy enough - it's obvious why they have won so many awards!

All the staff were very friendly and efficient and made some good recommendations from their menu. Great selection of seafood which they cook very well. There prices were also very reasonable.

I often choose fish and chips when dining in a pub, so delighted to find this place providing such good take away fish and chips. Good quality chips, and lovely fish with out too much excess batter. Whenever I go, it always seems to be freshly cooked to order. Staff are all really helpful. Best in the area!

Moved to the area in last 6mths and only just started using Something Else Fishy. We have done 2 takeaway orders using food hub so far and system works as it should. Food has been ready about 20 minutes from ordering and has been of great quality both times. Large cod lovely and large chips is well worth the money. Staff friendly and polite. Great service and fully recommended. Many thanks and long may it continue.

Downstairs a typical fish & chip shop BUT upstairs they have a restaurant that seats about 30 people. This is well worth a visit everything is fresh the staff are very helpful and a good menu.

We visited for a family lunch over Easter and had a lovely meal. Generous portions, tasty range of dishes and they even made garlic bread specially for my son. They gave us a lovely welcome and we really enjoyed our meal.

Best fish and chips in the area

Avoid using this place for delivery. The menu options on Foodhub don't match what they offer. If you ask salad and sauce on your burger you won't get it despite it being an option on Foodhub. Anything written in the notes will be ignored to. If you ask for salt and vinegar in the notes they'll ignore that. My burger was like a piece of boot leather. Barely edible. Spoke with owner after most recent order and she failed to take responsibility for the issues I raised. Blaming everything on Foodhub. I don't want to hear moaning about a delivery provider. Take ownership of issues raised and offer remedy. Had to end call before I lost my temper at the brazen disregard for customer service.

Tried this one for a change from our normal one as had heard good reports but was very disappointed Chips Were bland & the fish was very small hence won’t hurry back again Overall very disappointed after hearing good reports, perhaps we just hit it on a bad night !

Excellent but not overly complex menu. Respectably sized portions. Friendly and attentive service. Very reasonably priced too. Also very good selection on drinks menu. Every dish we were served was cooked to perfection.

The food is excellent and wonderful value for money. The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is cheerful and relaxed. We are lucky to have a restaurant like this tucked away in a rural area. It is one of our favourites.

This is our local & we come every week. I love the friendly staff, not to mention the super fish suppers ! Their restaurant menu is so varied & interesting; nothing is too much trouble. Martin & Nicky have done a brilliant job all through the Covid time & catered so well. We are lucky to have them here !

☹️☹️ WORST Fish & Chips!!! Our family had Cod, chips & mushy peas. We all were DISCUSTED!! The Fish thin & cleverly covered in thick wet fatty batter to make it look big. Fish had no taste. Chips dry dry dry again no taste. Mushy peas with mint, the only item that had taste but you can't get much wrong with peas!! Made for an unhappy meal out together & a waste of money.💩Gave a couple of our family members bad tummy ache & frequent toilet trips to say the least . What should have been a treat for all, turnt out to be a huge disappointment. Doesn't get our vote for being one of best around!!!

Visited 3 weeks ago with friends who have become "regulars", and now understand why. Lovely restaurant, safe environment, great menu with daily specials - and of course, great service - all at a reasonable price. Happy to recommend.

Had supper here tonight. excellent fish and chips. However I was somewhat disturbed that the young lady server was not observing covid protocol. She was taking food orders and serving food when not wearing any oral nasal face covering.

It's so strange but they really do have a good thing going here, but jesus the portion of chips is small. Book a table and you can eat all the chips you want. Get take away and and you get "two and half" scoops of chips. For £2.20 that's some very expensive potatoes!Whatever you do though, DON'T ask for a couple more chips. I just had the "two and a half" scoop lecture lol. Cracking customer SERVICE! Chips tasted half decent at least........

Arrived just as opening really fancied a burger so ordered one it was like cardboard not nice nice bun though! Couldn't have small portion of chips and cheese so wasted most of them overall I think I made a bad choice

First and last time I shall visit this establishment!Turned up as no online orders and ordered my food, came back to collect to find a later order of a large amount had usurped my order so they got their order first and I still had to wait for mine! Appalling customer care or service especially during Covid.Dry chips of small quantity and fish mediocre. Very disappointed and shall not recommend to any one.Looks like villagers ok and anyone else takes pot luck.Do not deserve to do well unlike others who care about their customers and provide excellent service.Abbey F&C are far superior!

First and last time visiting this takeaway. No phone orders unless gluten free issues. Ordered food to come back within 15 minutes to find I still had to wait for my uncooked food as they had taken a subsequent order which took precedence over my earlier order. Seriously appalling customer service!! I would have thought during Covid that customer care mattered but obviously not. One order get usurped by a later order of larger quantity. Umph !!! Small portion of not v hot dried out chips and mediocre chips. Not value for money or good quality. Not recommended!!

The restaurant is over the fish shop and you can, if you wish, eat from the takeaway menu (with unlimited chips). But that misses the point of this place, which is to serve beautifully fresh seafood. The prawn cocktail starter with fresh crab was first class, and the mussels for main quite the best we have eaten. If you still have room finish off with one of Nikki's tasty homemade desserts. Limited wine list or BYO for a small (£2) corkage charge. Friendly service and full Covid precautions in place.

We are here with 2 friends for the first time. We have always had take away before. Even better eating in.There are 2 sittings at 5.30 and 7.30 to allow for cleaning between sittings. There are clear guidelines in place around covid and plenty of hand sanitiser stations.The staff are friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. This is no normal fish and chips restaurant- there is lovely linen table clothes and napkins, lovely cutlery and glasses too. The restaurant is nicely decorated too. The food is amazing, we were tempted to have a starter as they sounded great but we went straight for mains. The main courses were fantastic, they were tasty and good sizes. The fish and chips were great so fresh and not greasy. The best we have ever had! The mushy peas are full of flavour and the curry sauce is great. There is a nice choice on the menu including the usual fish and chips, pies and sausages as well as Thai curry, special of the day. There is a lovely choice of main dishes. We had puddings and they were all lovely and homemade. We will definitely visit again as it was very enjoyable, the food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Great fish and chips. Restaurant is excellent, fun and casual.

Our first visit, post lockdown, and they have certainly thought it through, with increased table spacing and two sittings per evening. A great ambience, fantastic food and excellent table service in this bright and airy little restaurant on the first floor above the fish and chip shop. The great thing about the menu is that you can simply enjoy perfectly cooked fish & chips brought straight up from the fryer, or you can go off piste a bit and try one of Martyn's amazing specials - this week it was a Thai green fish curry, made with fresh gurnard and scallops - I can honestly say it was the best Thai curry I have ever had. My mother has a small appetite so she was very happy with her child's portion of cod & chips while the other member of our party worked his way through a generous serving of haddock, chips and mushy peas. Sadly we didn't have room for one of Nicki's delicious gluten free home-made desserts... maybe next time.

As always a lovely fish restaurant, tables are only available for two sittings to allow time for cleaning between guests, but this means the atmosphere remains good while the place is very safe and clean. Wonderful to be able to visit again.

Our visit to Else's was our first indoor eating since the relaxing of lockdown. We found that Martin and Niki along with her Mum have put in place excellent preventative measures and so we felt at ease the moment we entered building. With a reduced number of tables the atmosphere of the restaurant was much more relaxing to eat in, as we had found that pre-lockdown there had been an element of stress shown by the staff and for us this had reflected in the meal and service.The fish and chips along with service with back to its par excellent standard. Went here tonight 18th July amazing fish and chips and fish cake and chips for my wife .just right amount and cooked lovely will def drive there again even thought it’s 35 min drove was worth it .😃👍

Food they offer is very nice and always hot, good price and a tidy menu with a little of everything plus a short wait time too.

Arrived at 4:45pm and there were already a couple of people waiting.10 more people arrived before 5 which was impressive. I got 2 large and two regular and the portion sizes of the fish were good but chips small and all boxed together. It took me 15 minutes to get home but the food was cold but fish very very greasy, swimming in oil in the boxes. The fish did not taste fresh and for that very overpriced. First take away in 4 months and very disappointed, maybe better eating in when we are eventually able too.
