After looking forward to afternoon tea at this hotel I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience. Although in a beautiful setting the afternoon tea was disappointing, Luke warm tea, poor sandwich’s and no staff around. We spent half an hour waiting for staff to attend once we were seated then waited again for the tea etc. Not something I expected from this hotel. Staff service was extremely poor and the whole occasion lacked atmosphere. I would not recommend this experience for the price it cost.

‘We are open. a car drove into our window. please keep buying from us so we can get a new window’. I would have loved to. I tried to buy a coffee at about 14.20. No can do. ‘We aren’t serving.’ ‘I only want coffee not food.’ ‘No I’m washing the floor’ ‘Oh I’m sorry I didn’t know you were closed as the door was open’ ‘We aren’t closed.’ ‘Just not selling anything then? Good luck getting the money for the window’

Always a pleasure to eat here & Sunday lunch is second to none. I had the trio of meats & it did not disappoint- tender & full flavoured Gloucester old spot pork, slow cooked beef & a very nice portion of chicken. As always- Luke and Toni the stars of the show. Great food, great drink & Great service!

Food is ok but please don't make plans to visit unless you are staying. This is now a B&B and you cannot eat here if you are not staying. Please note it is no longer a pub or Restaurant

Staff are unfriendly - the one in Camborne is better. Parking is v limited. But their pastys are my favourite.

Rude, arrogant and insulting to the extreme. Very poor service and felt very intimidating. The others in the town are far superior

Visited whilst in Padstow on a lovely Summer’s day and stopped by for an ice cream. Chose Harbour Ices as there was no queue compared to all the other ice cream shops which had long queues. The service was poor and abrupt., genuinely unfriendly. Having been served with one ice cream and whilst choosing a second asked for a sample of one of the two I was choosing between but met with a resounding. “Absolutely not”. So different to all the other ice cream shops we visited during our stay in Cornwall who couldn’t have been happier or more friendly. As it was both ice creams chosen were distinctly average / poor. Shame, but would never return or recommend to others based on the service and quality of their products. Suggest others visit Rick Stein’s shop for lovely ice creams and great service if in Padstow. Exactly the same price at £3.50. Alternative if travelling to Fowey, I’d highly recommend Game of Cones (close to the ferry and car parks) instead who offer more flavours, brilliant service and cheaper prices too!

My wife and I eat in Palmers fish restaurant (the lager one) yesterday evening. The chips were best ever, the way I like them: quite crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The batter on the cod wa just right. Not to thick, not too thin; nice and crisp. I also had a very generous portion of mushy peas. The service was prompt and the several waiters and waitresses very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was light and airy and meticulously clean. We had such a pleasant evening I felt I had to comment. Due to the pandemic we have not ventured out much in the last three years so it was a pleasant surprise. (On other occasions we have eaten at Palmers smaller restaurant in Yeovil where we had an excellent meal too.)

Very welcoming and helpful staff, the guys behind the bar couldn’t have been more professional and helpful. Very clean facilities, as a visiting sailor you couldn’t ask for more, we’ll definitely be back. Thanks guys, until next time….

The sirloin beef was excellent, and the vegetable cook produced perfect freshly cooked vegetables to go with the meal (no English mustard?). The restaurant was clean and the view is amazing. Nonetheless, the best meals are served by good waiters. I felt sorry for our waitress who had so obviously received totally inadequate training; we had to ask for a drinks menu. It was about twenty minutes before the wine I ordered arrived at our table. After our meal had been served, no one came to ask if everything was OK, (and it wasn't a busy day). we had to wait ages for our plates to be cleared and again when we wished to order our desert (As, I noted, did our neighbouring table). The pleasant atmosphere was somewhat spoiled by rather loud Musac. This was a rather harsh noise coming from the speaker above our head, completely tuneless and utterly pointless. If you feel the need to put a noise through the speakers, please make it relaxing. And tuneful would be nice!
