Disappointing Service Despite Great Food
We visited The Bath Arms on Sunday, 2nd March, arriving at 2:30 pm for a pre-booked table. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by extremely slow service.
We ordered two Diet Cokes, which took 20 minutes to arrive and only came after we prompted the staff. For food, we ordered bread, Welsh rarebit, a meat roast, and a vegetarian mushroom Wellington—the latter being the main reason we booked. After waiting over an hour, we were then informed that the vegetarian mushroom Wellington was out of stock, despite the pub only being open for 2.5 hours. I was offered cabbage as a replacement, which felt like an afterthought rather than a proper alternative.
When the bread finally arrived, it was lovely, and the rarebit, which came quite a while later, was also good. I opted for just the roast sides instead of a full vegetarian meal, and they were excellent. My partner enjoyed the meat roast. We shared a dessert, which was also great.
While the food itself was fantastic, the overall experience was frustrating due to long waits and the lack of available vegetarian options. Given the prices, we expected better service, though we appreciated that one of the roasts and the rarebit were comped as an apology.
Sadly, despite the quality of the food, the poor service means we’re unlikely to return.
Absolutely incredible Sunday lunch warm cosy friendly pub decorated really tastefully - delicious food and drink - everything is made from scratch even the gravy is amazing! Highly recommend
A fantastic find after a couple of hours out riding green lanes and byways with my friend John. Lovely friendly staff and one of the best breakfasts ever, can happily recommend this pace and will be back again soon. Freshly cooked, piping hot and very tasty fresh ingredients, the sausages especially!!
We tried the restaurant for lunch and were not disappointed. The food was good and the staff was very nice and friendly. Great coffee and free limoncello.
Bottomless Brunch was amazing. The Charcuterie board was a fabulous idea. Plenty to eat and the cocktails just kept coming.
The hosts were so hospitable and nothing was too much trouble.
I would highly recommend this place for something different to do.
Will be booking again very soon as it's very popular.
Long overdue visit to the Malet for Saturday night dinner with our daughter and son in law! The food was delicious; the service very good and the overall atmosphere friendly and welcoming! Such a great pub serving tasty food in a real ‘homely’ pub surroundings! We cannot recommend it enough!
Best chicken jalfrezi. Absolutely top marks and the naan bread is sitting up top as well.
Well done guys, looking forward to restaurant opening again one day.
We have visited Salisbury several times but only found this place as we needed it to be dog friendly
We were not disappointed the food was superb
We all had mains and puddings and they were extremely tasty
The staff were so friendly and we would definitely return and fully recommend
As often found before, understaffed when visited late afternoon on a weekday, though friendly when at last served. Large sausage rolls good, better than expected even having been behind counter probably most of day? Drink in tea served in thick coffee-size cups, so goes cold too fast with small volume and large amount of ceramic, very irritating. No cash a problem, hesitant to return. Door not self closing; sitting at table at window beside it required us to get up and partially close it often to avoid cold draught. Tables need clearing and cleaning more often. Choice of food wide enough.
Delicious and wonderfully balanced food, excellent selection of beers, and a really warm ambiance. Graham and his team are kind, welcoming, and clearly very passionate. A special mention goes to the salsa verde served with my steak which complimented it excellently. Would highly recommend “The Stars” for a drink, date night, or family meal.
We had a daily special of mushrooms in a scrumptious creamy sauce on sourdough toast, followed by a vegetarian pizza with pine kernels which was also delicious.
Although there was a large table of 10 on the weekday evening, we were served efficiently & thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We were there on holiday but if we lived nearby, we would definitely visit regularly.
Popped in as we were driving past with friends. Had a lovely lunch with some fantastic home made quiches and lovely variety of fresh salads and roasted vegetables. Service was excellent and prompt.
The farm shop attached had a wonderful selection of cakes, meats and cheeses. We just had to buy!
