Delicious and wonderfully balanced food, excellent selection of beers, and a really warm ambiance. Graham and his team are kind, welcoming, and clearly very passionate. A special mention goes to the salsa verde served with my steak which complimented it excellently. Would highly recommend “The Stars” for a drink, date night, or family meal.

We have been coming to the Seven Stars for a number of years now. No matter the season the local walks are fabulous and redolent of ancient history and stunning scenery. Afterwards we make our way back to the Inn which never disappoints. Tasty food with plenty of choice. Huge variety of excellent wines. And at close of the evening, comfortable beds in quiet rooms. Already looking forward to our next visit!

I can't fault the pub itself. It has a nice relaxed welcoming atmosphere, its in a lovely spot and its nice and clean. The locals are friendly . The food however was very disappointing. We had the chicken Cesar burger and the Moving Mountain Burger. The Chicken was very dry and the Moving Mountain Burger was cold in the middle. The fries were obviously frozen. I think we could have got a better meal at the local takeaway for a fraction of the price. Shame because its a nice pub which used to have excellent food under the previous managers but I don't think we will be returning for a meal.

Very disappointing. Based on the reviews that guided us to this establishment we didn’t expect burnt focaccia to start! The main was passable. The dessert was very strange with both brownie and sticky toffee almost ‘watery’ nearly £90.00 for two burgers, and desserts..you’d expect better to be honest.

Fabulous meal this evening. Tim is a very relaxed, knowledgeable guy who made us feel extremely welcome. He knows his wines and beers inside out, supporting local brewers and producers wherever he can. His team were friendly and efficient. Our compliments to the Chef and helpers. The quintessential English pub, in the middle of nowhere but with world class food and wine. It's exactly what you fantasised about when you watched four weddings. In the middle of one of the most picturesque corners of the English countryside as well.

I have read all the reviews and was expecting a slightly better than average pub. I was wrong.. It exceeded my expectations. The dinner for myself and daughter was of a very good standard. The attention to detail was well thought out. My room was spacious and comfortable. Will we go back? We will of course. Value for money. ? I was surprised at the final bill. Great value.

We preordered at the request of the Seven Stars because we were a party of 7! We arrived bang on time and the food came out immediately! Even before our drinks order! Chips burned to a crisp, fish we think had been double fried. So no fillings remained. Some of us received the wrong sides. Korean chicken also ruined and dry. Cottage pie full of salt. Basically an expensive and disappointing meal. One course one drink and they charged us £207 in total. They didn’t seem bothered when we complained. A disaster all round! Plus: How can you justify £11 for one glass of rose wine.

The man in the Kitchen makes this place worth a visit. Never has roast beef been cooked to this level of perfection it was excellent. Even the Yorkshire pudding is worth a mention, fluffy and light a masterpiece. Roast potatoes amazing. Go there stay there. Also an imaginative wine list, certainly not the usual more The unusual and very good. Draft beer like nectar. Service was good. Landlord friendly. Who could ask for anything more.

Visited here whilst staying in Marlborough for a post-Xmas break. In four days of eating out, this was definitely the best place we came to. Great service, lovely intimate surroundings, and excellent food. Three of our party are vegetarian and the options were great - which, sadly, is still more of an exception than a rule. The meat and fish dishes were also apparently excellent. A good choice of local beers as well. Highly recommended.

We were let down by our first choice of venue, so phoned on Saturday to book an evening meal. We were asked to pre-order our food so did. Luckily we ate early before the kitchen got busy. Our food arrived 10 minutes after we arrived. My vegan burger, brown toast, salad and sweet potato fries were excellent. My husband's cheeseburger was good but not great. We asked the barman if they stocked Appletisers. He said they did, but we were served Bottle Green apple pressee which we didn't like.

Spent the night at the Seven Stars and thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the owner and staff are friendly and very professional - the wine and gin list extensive and the real ale absolutely superb ! The dinner menu was very interesting and the quality of the freshly prepared food first class - we had a thoroughly enjoyable, and a great leisurely supper - our bedroom was spotlessly clean and had everything one needed for a comfortable stay - the breakfast was also very good indeed. If I were to nick-pick, the only negative comment I can make is that the outside public areas need a good tidy up, but I believe they had just held a busy beer festival there -the gardens certainly need the services of a gardener as they are extensive and a bit unkempt.

Extremely poor service, failed to advise they had a festival that day and night, we could live that as we were advised when we arrived that the festival would end by 11pm. Upon return we found the loud music eventually ended at 1am! Nonetheless we persevered in the hope that breakfast would reinstate the 5* however breakfast was nonexistent as we attempted to locate the restaurant area for breakfast (we were advised breakfast is served from 8am, we attempted to get downstairs at 8.30am, knowing we had a 6 hour journey ahead of us!) and nobody was there! Doors were locked so we had to exit via the kitchen round the back! Nonetheless we paid 50% the value of the room thanks to my kind hearted husband as frankly I wouldn't have left a penny! Not worth the trip, I'd much rather stay in a travelodge! 0 stars

Had a lovely weekend staying at a friends place in Bottlesford two weeks ago and whilst I enjoy cooking, I was only too happy to sit back and relax and let others do the work. So, on the Saturday, I phoned the local pub to book a table. Graham the landlord took my booking, and was extremely generous to fit our party of 3 in even though the place was fully booked. The pub is set in a beautiful country lane and after a casual ten minute stroll we arrived all rather hungry. On initially entering we were greeted by the very friendly staff, as though like a regular. I was recommended a regional beer and my partner took advise on a rather delightful gin from the extensive collection. We were shown to our table and provided with our menus. I had reviewed it before leaving the house, so had a good idea of what i wanted, but needed some confirmation of what i could expect. Again the young lady who served us was very knowledgeable and happily provided the information i needed. So orders were made and before too long the food (mains) arrived. It was to die for. I had the Bavette steak, my partner belly pork and my daughter the seven stars burger with bacon and cheese. For pudding the chocolate torte won the day. Pub grub this was not. Fine dining at it's best! And at a very reasonable price. I was making a spaghetti Bolognese the next day, but was short of a couple of ingredients and Graham very kindly let me have what i needed. Excellent food and exceptional service and all in a lovely setting. Can't recommend it enough

Our visit was linked to our White Horse Gypsy Caravans experience. The field next to the pub being our home for the night. We both had good meals (ribeye steak for me, fish pie for my wife) and drinks. The only gripe being the prices. My steak was £25 and a comparable meal in a comparable pub would be under £20 . So all in all very good, nice pub, friendly staff, good food but just a bit overpriced.

Well, where to start......on first impressions all looked lovely but little did we know!! We had arrived at 1.50 for a 2pm reservation. We ordered a drink at the bar, my husband had a bitter which he said was great. We did get a hint that things were not going too well when a diner came up to the bar to ask how long their order would be and the response was that that kitchen 'was flooded' meaning with orders, not water....we saw other diners waiting and a few comments were made so we gathered the afternoon was not going to plan.

We had our wedding lunch at the pub. It was perfect in every way. We had 30guests and everyone loved the whole day, but raved about Grahams food. We had a mezza starter with homemade bread. Main course was slices of rare sirloin beef, with greens, potatoes and homemade hollandaise. Guests were saying it was the best beef they had eaten, many of whom have been lucky enough to eat in world famous restaurants. Pud was a trio which included passion fruit posset, lemon cheesecake. But, my favorite was the choc salted caramel tart - oh my heaven. All paired with wines that we previously tasted yet guided by Graham. His staff were awesome too, incredibly helpful and it made our day. A wonderful day so a huge thank you. Oh yes the next morning we had a fantastic breakfast outside in the sun which included (on request) his famous scotch eggs!

After nearly having a heart attack looking at the prices on the menu and the lack of menu (barmaid said we have to charge these prices because we are in the middle of nowhere and need to get noney somehow) decided to go for starters soup scotch eggs and chips. The £8 scotch egg was actually ok and the frozen £4.50 chips were ok ( expected hand mate for that price). But it was the £6.50 soup that was disgraceful, my wife ordered the bacon an lentil soup and no lie it looked and tasted like dish water, it was basically hot water with bacon fat and a few lentils chucked in no stock no salt and pepper just bland and yiu could build a house with the bread how an earth can any kind of chef let that go to ok for human consumption. When spoke to the barmaid who was very nice she said that she tried it and it was ok but I'm sorry there is no way she tried that soup . When told the young waitress she was great and was so apologetic. If your going to do very expensive poncy food get the basics wright and maybe try it before it goes out th the paying public

I would have loved to give this Inn a 5* rating but I didn't feel entirely comfortable. Four of us went in and the other three looked for a nice table - which they found. I went to the bar to get the first round in. The landlord seemed to find a whole lot of other things to do rather than serve me, which I'm afraid, I found somewhat annoying - maybe it was me!? I paid for the drinks - they came to more than I had expected and found my friends sitting at a lovely table. The menu was probably the most expensive I have seen in a pub but offered a good and varied selection. Two went for a starter as a main, I had a burger. I have to say the meals were extremely good and surprisingly large. There are extensive grounds so plenty of room for kids to play outside and to eat Al Fresco. I would go again if in the area.

The same beautiful and timeless countryside around evoking feelings of peace and tranquility, and those same energies are felt in the stones of the Seven Stars whose history dates back to 1746.The friendliness of Graham, the owner, and the lovely young staff, the varied menu, the generous helpings of food, sparkling glasses of very reasonably priced, very good wines, all make for a happy experience. Good cooking and hospitality at its best.We loved our room as it was big and airy on one of the hottest nights of the year. The calming pale mint colours of the decor, comfortable beds, good bed linen and quality pillows and towels helped us to further relax into the comfortable ambiance created here.Good hospitality tray, nespresso machine, fridge, beautiful big bathroom containing a deep bath and separate shower cabinet and generous toiletries, and outside on the landing, a filled bookcase. This place is a wonderful base for when walking any of the ancient tracks locally such as the Great Stones walk, cycling the area, exploring ancient burial sites, or simply just taking a break from an often frantic pace and relaxing in a historical pub with the best of food, wines, convivial landlord, friendly young staff who can't do enough for you before waking up next morning to only the sound of birdsong, the occasional horse rider passing by and all at very reasonable prices. Or just dropping in for a delicious lunch or dinner.Places like this wonderful establishment are increasingly hard to find and deserve not just to survive, but to thrive. In the words of Joni Mitchell ' Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone'

Located in a quiet country lane so off the beaten track I have to use satnav to jog my memory every time I head down here, this ancient pub dates from the mid 18th century. Located in one of the most beautiful corners of England, near the Pewsey Downs and the Kennett and Avon canal, this is also crop circle ground zero, with both Stonehenge and Avebury, as well as the attractive market town of Marlborough all a short drive away. If you're feeling particularly fit, the Great Stones Way, a linear walk to Stonehenge, passes this pub, and will amply reward anyone who makes the journey; the scenery takes in the ramparts of Salisbury Plain, picturesque villages with thatched cottages and at the end, a grand and spectacular walk down The Avenue, the neolithic pathway to the famous monument. But it's the Seven Stars itself that makes the journey so enjoyable. Start with the bar itself, with an intelligent wine list that is far more adventurous than most. A top shelf with a wide selection of gin but also some good rums, whiskeys and even an excellent cachaca - along with premium mixers (fevertree) and lots of ice. The food is also excellent and the accommodation is comfortable and (in the case of the family room) almost like having your own private suite, as the room and separate bathroom have a door closing them off from the corridor.I have had the pleasure of staying here several times and I feel it is time I wrote a review to express just how special I feel this place is. If you'd enjoy a tranquil break with great food and drink, right in the spiritual heart of Wiltshire, this is the place to come.

Nos amis anglais nous ont invité à découvrir ce restaurant et nous n'avons rien à regretter. Accueil chaleureux par un patron aimant la plaisanterie. Décor très anglais version pub. Bière de qualité et "fish and chips" remarquable.

We have dined here for eighteen years. Many years ago we enjoyed the delights of Philippe Cheminade's cooking. However we spent £85 on a below standard lunch for three. The owner well I assume he was made me feel embarrassed because I asked for vinegar for my oven chips.Sorry can't help it I am from North Yorkshre. This was meant to be a happy family lunch but sadly it was not.

I booked an evening table for 2 for my birthday having been told how good it was here, we just didn't realise how good it was going to be! The menu is small but very varied and prices that are expected for a pub. The bar man/ owner had an extensive understanding of wines so interesting and informative and gave us the chance to try until we found a bottle we liked, but the price of the bottle was less than £15!! Next on to our table, I always worry asking for a table for 2( as usually you have a tiny table shoved in a corner) but we were met with a large table set out beautiful in a really nice size area. We chose starters and Mains. Now at this point, seeing the style of menu. Wine chosen table lay out. I was expecting Al a Carte tiny plates. Splashes of jus. A dusting of fragrant air etc... Well how wrong was I!! Big plates, real food, great tastes and lots of it!!! Proper pub food done with taste and a very high standard! We shared a pudding as we were stuffed! We had a fantastic chat with the owner about the food and it was clear he had a big input into the menus. We can't recommend this place enough! Just hope others go there as places like this can end up having to close as they are so rural and can find it hard to make the business work.

What a little find this place was! Amazing selection of over 40 gins on offer! Landlord very cheerful and attentive. We sat outside for lunch which turned out to be a culinary treat. Carpaccio starter was delicious. Dog friendly too and enjoyed a pretty walk suggested to us by the bar staff after lunch.

Reserved a table of 8 for a Sunday lunch with family. Lovely staff, perfectly cooked home made food and brilliant selection of gin and ice cream! Plenty of parking right outside. Only thing we struggled with was getting my grandmother up and down steps. Staff including the chef offered to help and showed us around the back way for an easier way in. Fantastic service and homely atmosphere. Recommended!

I know the Seven Stars well but I had not stayed there before. I own a house in the village which we rent out. Due to tenants moving out I had to stay at the pub whilst co-ordinating things, I stayed for two nights. The room was excellent. We had an excellent full sized bathroom and shower room. The bedroom was a good size with Beds with firm mattresses and very nice oak furniture, a nespresso machine and pods as well as several types of tea.The food at the pub is not cheap but it is very good. The menu changes with some permanent items but some daily variation too. There is an excellent range of ales, wines and liquors. The staff work hard and are attentive.Breakfast was a superb full English. Graham, the landlord is a really strong front of house person and again, is super attentive and knows how to run an excellent establishment!

We had supper and stayed the night. This is a proper English Pub with proper differing ales both local and wider a field. An amazing wine list with different wines from all over the world at reasonable prices. The food well its what I love, food you know with a twist and the scotch eggs have found themselves No1 I have ever had. Graham knows his stuff and the staff were friendly taking time to talk to us. The room had a huge bed and beautifully done up. Nothing fancy but tasteful and has everything you need. Breakfast - homemade bread with proper sausages, bacon the list goes on. This is a great place to eat, drink and relax and view Wiltshire from.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.
