Popped in as we were driving past with friends. Had a lovely lunch with some fantastic home made quiches and lovely variety of fresh salads and roasted vegetables. Service was excellent and prompt. The farm shop attached had a wonderful selection of cakes, meats and cheeses. We just had to buy!

Nice place with friendly staff. Food and coffee was good, service was little slow other than that it's a nice little place to stop for lunch or coffee & cakes.

I visited today and wow was it expensive. £28 for a kilo of cheese that would cost between £8- 15 in waitrose. There was nothing much on the shelves of interest for my family who are vegans and veggies. The tea was like dishwater and the coffee undrinkable. The staff were just useless. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing. We ordered tea and cakes. We had finished out drinks and had to asks for the cakes which we took with us, I wouldn't visit again.

We arrived exhausted after being on the road, stuck in traffic for 6 hours, with another 3 hours to go....just as they were closing. These lovely people stayed open, served us with a cheerful smile , and even offered treats for my dog. The place was spotlessly clean, inside and out. Everything was thought of for a truly restful break before getting on the road again. Wonderful people and place. Cannot fault at all...or praise highly enough.

Been past here loads of times but stopped off today as early for Southampton cruise. Absolutely cracking place. Best coffee in ages , strong but not bitter, and a real depth of flavour. Bacon sarnie to die for, grilled and crispy and not the cheap salty stuff. Excellent staff and service, if you are down this way call in

We found this delightful place by accident after taking a wrong turn at a nearby roundabout. Deciding to pull in for a quick coffee and comfort break we were tempted by a bacon sandwich. This taste of heaven arrived in a timely manner and the bacon was super crispy, just the way I like it, the bread was delicious and I can't wait to visit again.

Myself and my friend Karl eat here often after i beat him at golf…the food is top quality, prepared freshly and always has something new on the menu. The range of food and drink is extensive, some which is local or made in the west country if not on site. Wonderful staff, Mary is a plough-mans expert and Mellisa is also very knowledgable in the chutney section and sausage roll department. I look forward to the next time I eat there. Laurie Peters x.

We called in here for lunch and were lucky enough to get a table without booking. Very pleasant staff. Prettily decorated courtyard. Nice lunch menu with plenty of choice. I had the roasted veg and goats cheese quiche which was really creamy and jam packed with veg. Served with a selection of salads - beetroot, mixed beans, salad leaves and coleslaw. Hubby had the pulled beef croquettes and thoroughly enjoyed them. My local Dorset cider was a real treat. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

We came across this cafe/ deli on our way to Hampshire. Lovely outside seating area. Small selection of sandwich specials but I’m sure other options would be available from the deli. Quiche looked lovely to. Sandwiches served on good bakery bread with good amount of filling. Pleasant service.

Having frequently stopped at this lovely Deli to buy their gorgeous cheeses, pickles and amazing Chilli Jam I decided to stop for a light lunch, and what a treat it was too! The salads are absolutely delicious, and the portions are more than generous. The staff were kind and attentive without being overbearing and I felt completely at home in this lovely and warm setting, surrounded by fabulous home-made goodies! The coffee was also worth noting, I am so pleased as I can now stop by on my way to Salisbury for 'the perfect cup of coffee' and can’t wait to try one of their very tempting looking cakes on my next visit… tomorrow too soon?

I have been visiting Bird and Carter regularly for several years now and it never disappoints. The staff have become friends as they are always so welcoming and friendly. Food and service is always of a high standard and the coffee is the best in the area. The biggest thing that sets Bird and Carter apart from other cafes and deli’s is how welcome I am always made to feel with my three young children. Highly recommend, you must visit it.

My family and I have been visiting this lovely family-run deli for around eight years now and it has been an absolute joy to watch the business go from strength to strength. Lots of delicious locally-sourced produce, well-presented fresh dishes, interesting pickles and sauces and hearty meals cooked fresh on-site in the kitchen. The restaurant is open plan and very child friendly while the shop and deli offer a really interesting variety of predominantly local products. The staff are unwaveringly polite while the owners Annie and Jof are often to be seen leading the team with a smile at the front of house or in the kitchen. Last summer we asked Bird and Carter to cater for my wife and my 10th wedding anniversary. We could not have been happier with the all-round service Annie and her team provided. Make no mistake, this is an absolutely first-class business run by a first-class team. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bird & Carter. (p.s and the coffee's pretty good as well!)

Visited on Saturday with my mum for breakfast, to begin with e service was exceptional. Until the food arrived the young lady who served my breakfast bassically threw the breakfast on the table, with half the breakfast hanging of the plate. No apology given, we then ordered anohter coffee and it arrived cold, wasnt very pretty either. All i could taste was burnt milk. Further to this when i asked for a new coffee or a refund i was refused and she came across as patronising, rude and the cstomer service was shocking.

....as we stood there like lemons ignored by at least 5 members of staff one of whom was more interested in her cup of coffee. Started to pick up items to buy but left. There was no queue. Not one person asked if we needed help or even a “just bear with us”. Does not bode well for their new venture in Fonthill when had come specifically to see what they were like given the buzz about it. The competition near there is good so they’ll need to up their game considerably in terms welcoming customer service. Food looks nice if someone could be bothered to sell it.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Unfortunately unable to review accomodation, food or service as we were double booked. Apparently landlords wife responsible for this so she was summoned. Landlord then completely ignored us and didnt even offer us a seat let alone an apology, this was left to his wife. She didnt seem well and was apparently in hospital at the time of our booking. She went away, 20 mins later produced £140 to cover the cost at premier inn who had ample availability and she had phoned them. Premier Inn denied any phone calls from Helen. They had one room which went whilst we were trying to book it. Plenty of certificates of awards, shame they are so old and tatty like the pub. I hate being lied to but rudeness, lies and facing a night in the car... Dont book here, disgraceful performance. Tired and niaive, should have insisted they booked it in front of us! Took the edge off Bath Christmas market tbh!
