Amazing food, amazing hospitality! Warm and cozy inside, in a nice placement of Trowbridge. Staff where happy to have a laugh!

Been coming here more since Emma and Ash have taken over, lovely and friendly, all the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, foods good x

Went out with a few friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Amazing Value value on the food being Wednesday was burger night!! Hi Dave, full size burger with salad and chips for £5. Also with the Greene King season ticket app, there is 20% of drinks also. This with a friendly atmosphere made for a great evening

So we had visited the black horse on the 06-11-24 .the food was great value for money also the customer service was great ,Emma is the strength in the pub since she has returned things are looking really good . If you are passing pop in Very family oriented premises also dog friendly

Nice food at a reasonable price. There is a small car park at the rear by the garden. The bar can get noisy if a sports event on the TVs.

We had a gathering of 25 people, all sitting for food. The guys were so well organised and we all appreciated your effort to accommodate us. Sorry guys, you did give me your names, but I’ve lost the piece of paper, but everyone was amazing. The food was perfectly cooked, steaks, burgers etc were wonderful, the service was excellent and we will certainly return again. 10/10 to the staff for their efforts.

I visited recently to attend the wake of your very own and very loved chef Steve. It was a wonderful spread you provided and the staff were lovely and attentive. The pub looked as lovely as it always does he would of been very proud of everyone. Staff who weren’t working still cleared tables and ex staff attended everyone in pub is a big family. The garden is also big and well looked after. There is a huge amount of drinks and it’s very good value. I highly recommend this lovely pub.

haven’t been here in about a year and the food is even better than I remember. Me and my friend got a mac n cheese & a fish n chips and was lovely. All the staff are lovely too

Best pub in Trowbridge. Staff are always great and go above and beyond cannot thank and praise them enough for what they do for anyone and everyone. Prices are very good and the atmosphere is great too.

I visit here Twice a week for Dinner , excellent food and service . Really good value for money . Staff are very friendly and hard working. My only concern is a Kevin Dell attends this pub regularly and he has been charged with sexual assault against very young girls and women and is on bail waiting trial ,he has previous history of indecent exposure against women and children and been sentenced for this . He is usually standing at the bar , is bald with glasses , wears jeans and polo shirt and medium/large build . But that’s not down to this family friendly pub and staff they are fantastic . I Would 100% recommend this place .

The chef Steve cooks lovely food. Me and my partner both had steak. It was cooked to perfection! Chips, onion rings and peppercorn sauce were delicious too. Would definitely recommend and amazing value for money too

I booked a surprise 60th birthday meal for my husband and invited all the family, 16 people in total. We were all seated with plenty of space for a wheelchair. Food was served quickly and was really enjoyable. A special mention to Cinda, who looked after us and ended up being a new member of the family. She was lovely and really friendly. Thanks for making a memorable evening.

Had a surprise 60th birthday party arranged by my wife, 16 of us total food was superb 16 people and the staff were brilliant especially Cinda Glass who got everyone fed so quickly and everything was really well cooked and hot and tasty. Can't fault any part of the evening 5* Staff and food Would recommend a visit 👌

I’ve not been to the Blackhorse for many years but last night I went for a family meal and had a brilliant evening. The food was fantastic and the staff were helpful, friendly and so welcoming. Special thanks to Cinda who went above & beyond, she’s an absolute credit to the pub! Highly recommend! 🖤

We struggled to find a venue to accomodate 16 people for a 60th birthday with disabled access, but this venue was happy to have us. The service and friendliness of our server Cinda was great from the get go. She really was a great hostess; offering to take pictures of the group and prompting the cheers when the birthday cake arrived. The food was good and prompt. The price even better! Thanks for a great night!

Wonderful menu. Lovely staff. Good value for money. I was, however very shocked to see the state of the toilets. The smell was unpleasant and the decoration was very poor. They looked unclean and dated. No hot water either. Not good for a popular pub.

Absolute disgrace, In 2022 the manager of the business served a friend who was underage without checking 25 and when she asked for ID and nothing was shown she immediately came to me and another friend and said we were barred for 3 months, after the 3 months was over I returned and was then told I was barred until new years eve, I was then told I was barred until my 19th birthday and then told again that my bar wasn’t up for another 6 months. Despite being in there for 3-4 hours on boxing day, being served twice and acknowledged by the owner she approached me rudely and told me I still wasn’t welcome and I apparently was not in there boxing day even though she came to the table I was on and smiled directly at me

Amazing pub. This is my local and there is not a fault that comes to my head. The drinks are served quickly and always to a top standard. The food is amazing and always served with a smile. Would always recommend this family friendly pub.

We were pleasantly surprised on our visit, many years ago it was known as a drinkers pub. All changed now staff were very friendly and helpful considering we did realise that you had to book your table. Good choices on the menu, chose the over 60's 2 for £5.99,fish chips and peas followed by jam sponge with custard. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The food here is generally excellent and very good value, BUT and it's a big but, the service is lacking due to a very poor performing App. When you go here for a meal you are encouraged to use the App to order your food and drink. We have tried this twice now (at least a month apart) and had the same poor experience. Basically, we ordered 2 meals and 2 pints and then sat there and waited and waited. We were in sight of the bar, they weren't what I would call busy and no one thought to ask why we were sat there with no food or drink in front of us. Eventually, I went up to the bar to ask where our drinks were, only to be told by the lady serving that the App doesn't work! But that is not strictly true because it seemed very efficient at taking my money. I then mentioned that it wasn't working over a month ago either, and asked if anyone had bothered to report it to Greene King. I just got a shrug of the shoulders. The fact that the staff know it's not working and there is no sign anywhere to say so, just shows an uncaring attitude. It is possible for them to make items unavailable (as this evening you couldn't order chicken burger and it was 'greyed out') so if the problem is with ordering drinks, then the simplest solution would be to grey out all drinks, while Greene King sort the problem out. It shouldn't be necessary for me to leave a negative review to get things like this fixed. I will be emailing Greene King separately tomorrow to find out when they knew about this problem at the Black Horse and to request they withdraw the app until it is sorted out.

Nice pub showing sport. Couple of pool tables and dart boards. Didn't eat but food looked good. Would visit again if in the area

Due to it being impossible for the family to get together at Christmas I booked the Festive Fayre menu for an early Christmas get together. We were warmly welcomed and treated to a faultless experience for our meal. Congratulations to all the staff who helped us thoroughly enjoy our important substitute family Christmas . Adrian

Popped in today and the service was great . The food was lovely and hot and really tasty. It was excellent.

Stopped at this pub on the way to Wales and have to say we felt so welcomed and at home. Everyone was friendly and chatty and we felt like a local. Excellent value for money and very dog friendly. Would recommend if you want a good value for money pub with a great atmosphere.

emma served us on our visit & was already rather rude as we went to order. then, the tap water had black chunks in it, politely asked for it to be changed and received more water with black chunks in (twice), she snapped that it “wasn’t her fault” as she’d changed the glass. understandably it isn’t her fault at all, however my friend is a very anxious person and was very polite about the issue just to receive a very overly rude and snappy reply for no reason. we got back to the table to realise there was once again black bits in the water so just went up to order a different drink. in the middle of serving she just walked away as she was talking. just not the way you should be treating polite customers.

Came upon this as we were driving back to our hotel. We welcoming as we went in. They found us a table straight away although they had a lot of bookings for that night. Served straight away with our drinks and came back for our food order. The locals were very friendly and chatted away. The food was very hot. I had the Mac and cheese with salad, garlic bread and extra chips. Very tasty. Hubby had hunters chicken, chips and salad and he said it was lovely. Great prices but then Green King me use are always great value. Couldn’t fault the food or service.

Always great value for money and the staff are always so welcoming - especially the landlady Em - my favourite place in Trowbridge to eat and drink.

A group of us booked for lunch for around 14 as they had a good Seniors Menu and quite often the normal menus at many pubs are a bit tto much for many of us at lunchtime. It was a bit complicated because they asked for a deposit at the time of booking and inevitably some of the group booked later without pre ordering as requested. The food arrived at a reasonable time and in the main was well received. However, my steak and kidney pudding was a bit grisly and I had to change a fork as it had food remnants on it from previous use. My partners Chicken Diane was cold and on a cold plate and the chicken was quite tough. I also noticed that the table in our places had beer stains on it and the joints on my chair squeaked when ever I moved. It was a warm day and I noticed when the window was opened the stay had very loose screws where it was connected to the window frame, a bit of poor maintenance here. The group are used to regular lunches together and always pay individually at the bar less the deposit already paid, which makes sense, however, the Black Horse decided that the group total had to be paid as one payment, which meant that the group spent a deal of time exchanging cash with each other and arrranging IOU 's so that just one of the group could pay at the bar. We were not pleased with this arrangement and will not be revisiting.

My parents went here for a meal pensioner s special as they do couple o time a month, but they where treated badly and told they could not have a pudding unless they ordered it when whey ordered the main meal, which is appalling, the service was very rude towards my parents and even came to the table and said that her manager was backing her up, after the countless time we as a family have been here we won’t be ever again

This pub is great! The food was quick, cheap and delicious, the drinks were the same, and service was very very friendly. The manager (I didn't get her name unfortunately) was lovely- she was very easy to talk to, and although this was only my second visit, she remembered a small detail I spoke to her about the night before, and was eager to make conversation about that with me again. My boyfriend is a rather fussy eater, yet the team catered towards both our needs without any hassle. There's a range of activities for people to enjoy such as darts, pool, and a few slot machines. Overall, it was a very lovely night and I would definitely go back again.

Just had another great experience in the Black horse ,serveral pints of old speckled hen, complimented with a mighty fine beef burger and chips . And of course not forgetting the friendly helpful staff. I highly recommend this pub for a great cosy evening.

It was open late, cheap and cheerful and dog friendly. Food was not very good quality but ok for the price, staff were friendly enough and I feel sorry for them as the back of house looked as dirty and tired as the toilets were- broken toilet seats, filthy floors and walls, black mould on the sealant around the sink… the mens were even worse according to my companions! Very off putting!

Quality food. I've eaten here twice now and had the burger twice though with different topping - Burnt Ends OMG Amazing! Quantity. The food portions are perfect we left feeling nicely full and it was all so tasty. Value. We had a 20% off voucher...

An authentic and lived-in place. We are in the English countryside, far from the chaotic and glossy (and expensive) world of London from which we arrived this afternoon. Black Horse is a legendary pub, with pool, darts, card tables and screens. Lots of beer, excellent food at honest prices, or rather more than honest, very low The staff is attentive, friendly and courteous, but overall the customers also seem like part of a family, just as it should be. The Sunday Special is a feast, as are all the dishes we tasted. A place to return to!

This is the first time we visited. We were treated by very good friends for my birthday. The meals were great. Very generous. Great value for money. A good choice of food. The bar has a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The table service was great. It was a Sunday evening and it was just right patron wise. Not too crowded. Great atmosphere, great company. Will definitely go again
