This pub is the best find in Wiltshire, support local independent pubs. Their Roast was outstanding we were made to feel so welcome and relaxed, we would love to see them again next year 😊

Didn't have ANY red wine. Didn't have the meal we wanted. My wife had the tasteless sausage and mash in the end, which wasn't what she wanted and I had one of the toughest steaks I had ever hsd in a restaraunt. Sarcastic landlord who was more interested in looking after his noisey mates. Cold and uncomfortable.

Visited at the steam fair. Friendly place but felt like gouging the tourists. £7.50 for a pint of neck oil. More expensive than London. Reason given was that's the price set by the brewery, but that's not how it usually works.

Maybe we were here on a bad day as other reviews don't reflect the service and welcome we received. Had been visiting the area and staying locally. Had seen good reviews so thought we'd give it a try. Late opening. Clearly not ready to serve. We asked about food to be told with a sigh that he could do a sandwich. Seemed like an inconvenience so we left. No warm atmosphere. No warm welcome as others describe. Maybe we just arrived on a bad day but as regular visitors to the area, we certainly wouldn't bother visiting this pub again.

I have been under many causes to this wonderful little pub. Freddy and his team never fail to deliver. Whether you are stopping for a cup of coffee, ale, wine or simply for doggo water - you will simply find it here. You will not be disappointed not only by the sheer charm of the place but the warmth of the hospitality and character of those within its walls. The food, I never know where to start....is beautiful, hearty, unassuming, plentiful and beyond my wildest dreams. I have yet to visit for a Sunday roast but the pictures provide nothing but unbridled anticipation, a visit of which I can only hope to happen soon. If you are looking for a trip backwards with all of the forwards thought of the modern, this is absolutely and unequivocally the place for you.

After hearing all the fabulous reviews we were very excited to be meeting with family for an early evening dinner. There was no gas due to a leak so no lemonade available. No shandy for the driver. No cokes. No soda water. Many food items were unavailable. The meals were large. Too large. No normal person could eat that amount and therefore we felt very overpriced. At the end of the meal our children were looking forward to desert but we were told they’d sold out. We wondered if there had only been one choice of desert and that was why they’d sold out. To say we were disappointed is an understatement especially as they charged £60 deposit for 4 adults and 2 children a week before the date. We cannot agree with previous fabulous reviews as our experience here was almost comedic. The waitress was very good but without the goods she couldn’t provide a good service. We will not be returning anytime soon.

I’m not sure where to start. A grubby little pub (the toilets are truly awful, but everywhere needs a good clean!) The glasses were dirty, the wine list which charges on a par with The Ivy London…oh and the aggressive red headed bar maid with a mouth like a sewer on her (I see that others have also commented on her attitude!) To boot, it’s all run by a very strange landlord. I wouldn’t return if you paid me!

Took a chance on this pub because reviews seem to swing from great to terrible, unfortunately after a visit it turns out the latter are more accurate. Just avoid this place, it is quite tired and a bit grubby, although it does have a nice fireplace! The food options are basic and the quality varies from average to poor and while the waitress was pleasant enough the manager bordered rude. Honestly stay at home, save your money and make yourself a ham sandwich, I promise you that is a better option.

We visited this pub after a day at the steam rally and to be quite Frank we were extremely disappointed. The place looked very run down, untidy and dirty. The toilets were filthy, like something from a horror movie. Service was poor, very slow and the red haired lady behind the bar was very abrupt. I overheard a dispute where the bar lady was very rude to a customer as she was trying to pay with cash. If they don’t want paying with cash then they should maybe note this in advance but after all custom is custom and paying customers should be dealt with politely and respectfully. Not quite the ending we wanted to what was in most parts a fantastic day out. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Not a family friendly pub sorry. After visiting here previously we decided to visit the steam rally next door and pop in to the ivy afterwards. Rude staff.. drinking behind the bar and drunk, listening to the landlord brag about how he had a fight with five customers the night before .. We were then called skanks and told to f*** Off by the red hair female for wanting to pay with change and not a note. Asking the landlord why this would be a issue … he’s still getting the money whether it’s cash or card we were asked rudely to leave . Would not recommend and always seems to be a chance you take for food… depends what mood there in if he’s cooking or not. AVOID

We’ve just returned from a Fathers Day celebration meal at The Ivy, well it was incredible! Our food which we ordered a mixed selection was piping hot, beautifully presented and plentiful, we couldn’t finish it. The Sunday roast came with an array of fresh vegetable, the meat was beautifully tender, absolutely scrummy. We were made to feel as welcome as you would an old friend and our dog was treated to treats and lots of cuddles by the lovely staff who could not do enough for us. And for all this luxury service you’d expect a large bill at the end but no, it was incredibly reasonable and well worth the money we paid, In short go and visit, find out for yourself we’ll see you there, it’s not local to us but it is now our go to pub. Walking in this beautiful part of Wiltshire, we had a look in advance and were pleased to see this pub was open and seemingly serving food. Hope raised further as we walked up and saw blackboards announcing among other things, a lunchtime menu. How odd then that the landlord seemed surprised that anyone had arrived seeking sustenance and , after bringing us drinks, even more surprised that we wanted food.'Its only me here today and I'm doing the books' he declared. 'I haven't got much in'.He then disappeared before we had a chance to say all we would want was sandwiches. He reappeared a while later with a menu he had presumably just written out with three choices of starters, mains and desserts.Again , before we had a chance to ask more he had disappeared ( back to the books?)When he returned a fair while later , we asked whether he had anything simpler such as sandwiches to which he replied ' As I say I haven't anything in - its just me here and I'm doing the books'. All very odd - we just didn't feel welcome at all - we left after purchasing some crisps to eat on the hoof.I suggest that if you don't want people to ask for food, don't put out the blackboards!

OMG... WHAT CAN I SAY!!! It was the best sunday roast I have had other than mine that I have ever had. At least 7 veggies , Yorkshire pudding, copious amounts of gravy and even cranberry sauce provided. One dinner and enough for two people.😋

Attended with hubby for an anniversary meal on a Sunday lunchtime. We pre-booked and on arrival were quite rightly asked to provide our contact details. We were advised where we could/couldn’t sit, social distancing was observed and clear labelling. A few people arrived whilst we were there and were advised to wait outside and had everything explained to them, even if they were arriving just for drinks/to sit outside. We felt very COVID safe.As for the meals, we had roast beef and roast turkey. For someone with a dairy intolerance, I had my own huge serving of vegetables and i certainly didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. The beef was cooked to perfection accompanied with delicious tasting gravy, roasties etc. I am not normally a fan of sprouts but I’ve been converted! The turkey came with all the trimmings and my husband said it reminded him of a luxurious Christmas dinner (that you’d normally pay three times as much for)! My husband is now asking for cheese sprouts at home! Huge portions, great value for money. We were checked on a couple of times throughout the meal and by the chef himself which I thought was a lovely personal touch. It felt like the chef felt a sense of pride at what he had cooked for us and so he should! We did have pudding too. There was a dairy free sponge cake and dairy free ice cream which was a welcome treat when I normally get offered a bog standard sorbet. My husband had Black Forest gateau which was light and had a mousse(y) texture to it, delicious!
