What a wonderful little pub. Was made to feel welcome on arrival by a lovely young man. He was so patient with our 5 year old grandson who was being incredibly picky with what he wanted for lunch. All food and drinks came quickly from order. Food definitely cooked fresh. We could fault nothing.

Staff nice, nice garden, pleasant. Let down by the food. £50 gets you i pint of cider half pint larger, peas undercooked and definitely from a freezer bag, 2 x chips also freezer bag, scampi again from the freezer as we're 2 portions of onion rings. 2 halves of cheap tasteless tomato's and a sirloin steak medium rare almost impossible to eat so chewy, suggests the cheapest cut they could find. Extremely disappointing even the measly two sachets of sause were cheap vinegary options no heinz here, always a sign of someone cutting costs to maximise profits. Needless to say we won't return despite the warm welcome. I know the trade is difficult these days but no excuse to rip people off. I'd rather pay a bit more and get quality than pay almost as much and get cheap freezer rubbish.
Best food in Devizes!! This pub always serves the most delicious meals. Cooked to perfection. They are dog friendly and the staff are always lovely. If you’re passing through this is the best place to stop.
We stayed for three very pleasant nights and dined twice. An attentive manager supported by his young but professional resturant staff enhanced an excellent experience. Obviously with its good resturant grading we expected good food. We got it - A very good chef resides here. We tried fish & chips the first night - absolutely lovely. The second dinner we went for nibbles to start followed by Cod chowder dishes with new potatoes, amazing special fries & fresh peas with asparo. Very good portions were served and all were perfectly cooked. The french wine we chose was equally good. Next time we visit the area we will stay & dine here.
Visited the Pepper Mill the other day with friends and had a great time. I had the sirloin and my friends had the flat iron steak and a risotto which we were all very pleased with. Our server Tania also did a lovely job and made our visit even more enjoyable.
Saturday lunch to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary was a must for us and one of our daughters recommended The Silks. The food was first class, the service friendly and efficient and overall the meal was really good value (3 courses as couldn't resist a pudding). We will visit again in the evening as Saturday lunchtime was a bit noisier than we anticipated (but I guess not surprisingly). Highly recommended.
Walked past Leonardo's La Piazza many times, saying 'we must try there', so we at last went for a quick lunch. This was a weekday so it wasn't too busy. There's a good menu - not just pizzas.
We had just a main course each:
Canneloni Verde for me and it was excellent. Well made and plenty of a light cheese sauce.
Hawaiian Pizza for my wife which was very good and more than she could eat, but they provided a box to take away the uneaten portion.
I was a bit disapppointed that there were no options of anchovies, olives or capers - or maybe I just missed them. Had they been an option I'd probably have had a Margarita pizza with the above - but then I'd have missed the Canneloni Verde.
Staff friendly and attentive.
Comfortable space with 2 levels of seating inside and good outside space under a gazebo looking onto Salisbury Market Square. Worth a visit if you like Italian food.
Amazing food, fantastic staff and a lovely setting. All ruined by the highhanded and arrogant attitude of the manger. Friends had booked this for my birthday, we went with 3 small dogs. My elderly dog has been really ill and I am lucky she is still with me. Something in the restaurant made her cough, I suspect it might have been an allergy to thatch. I totally understand that, had there been other customers nearby (there weren't), they may have found her coughing distressing. The manager shown zero compassion and demanded I put my dog in the car. This totally ruined the experience for all of us and I felt so bad for my friends, who are local and up to now have used the restaurant regularly (they won't now). Had this been dealt with in a caring and compassionate way it would have been very different. We had our puddings and coffee in the garden and I spoke to the manager about his attitude. He deducted the pudding from the bill and said if I come back I should have a glass of champagne with him. As if! Either the restaurant is dog friendly or it isn't. I have never, ever been treated like this and it pretty much ruined my weekend.

They refused to apply their lunch time offer when I went for lunch with my mum. She was holding the flyer advertising the offer while paying, they did not apply the offer to the bill though. When queried, they told her she should have mentioned it before paying. The flyer does not state this requirement. I've been to Ask in Marlborough a number of times in the past six months, but after this recent shoddy treatment of my elderly mum I won't be back.
Lovely quiet local pub/restaurant. Only stopped for a quick drink but if I'm ever back in the area I will visit again and make the time to try the menu.
