Best Sunday Carvery around. Totally unbeatable, great value, brilliant food and great choice!

I had braised beef, vegetables, mash and parsnip crisps for my main, and a sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for dessert. Both tasted gorgeous. Excellent customer service, and nicely priced too. I thoroughly recommend the carvery, however book up in advance. It is really busy on Sunday.

I dropped by one evening when I was too tired to drive home to refuel with a coffee.. and ended up staying for dinner! Wonderful food. Great service and enjoyed sitting in the well heated (some were saying too well heated!) sun room / conservatory. Nice atmosphere. Only had one hitch which was the automatic air freshener blasting off in the disabled toilet (downstairs) which set off my allergies -unlikely to be a problem for most people. But the staff were right on it, took my condition seriously (yay) and assisted me upstairs to the regular toilet. I requested that this issue could be resolved e.g. by enabling a manual mode for the air freshener and the member of staff assured me that this would be passed on.. Looking forward to another visit, when this particular problem is resolved. I hope! :)

Lovely menu ..had a great homemade lasagne

In the local area, we visited for a Sunday evening. The carvery menu is available but we chose from the extra mains. Both dishes were delicious: Halloumi Burger and Roasted Veg pasta. Very busy so recommend booking.

Lovely location, amazing food, well worth the wait. Very busy on a Saturday night so the service was a bit slow, however the food was very nice and definitely made up for it.

Bit of a long wait for food (Was on Saturday mind) food was absolutely fantastic quality and brilliant flavour. We got drinks fairly quickly. Service was very cheerful and accommodating, would return here. Easy to find. No loud music - able to actually talk at the dinner table which is a HUGE deal.

Food ok carvery a hefty £17.95, chicken salad was lovely... Staff mostly young and didn't seem experienced., they were trying their best but need more guidance...some staff just looked unhappy...Wait to be served at carvery and deserts were brought out one at a time and slowly so some of us had nearly finished desert. Latte was warm . Pub very busy and noisy. Carvery meat lovely but some veg not brilliant, it was late afternoon so maybe first sitting would be better service.

Stopped on the way on our journey for a meal and it was lovely. Good food and tasty desserts! Lovely establishment and friendly staff. The funny little quotes around the place was a great touch 😁

Pleasant meal one evening whilst visiting Mere

Went for lunch with a couple of friends. Absolutely perfect. The staff were friendly and the food was really tasty. I only took photos of the puddings, but next time I'll take the mains aswell!!

What a great pub! We found this pub thanks to a local resident in Mere who was kind enough to suggest it to us. Less than a mile from the centre, the first impression was of an inviting pub, the gardens were full of masses of pots and baskets all full with flowers. Plenty of parking at the rear. We were warmly greeted on entry and invited to to sit in the glass garden room. We all enjoyed excellent tasty meals which were beautifully cooked and presented. The menu is varied and offers a plentiful choice all at a very reasonable price. We will definitely return when next in the area .

Fantastic Sunday Carvery with gluten-free, and veggie options too. I had three types of meat, the biggest Yorkshire Pudding I’ve ever seen, roast potatoes, roast parsnip, peas, cabbage, red cabbage, mashed swede, cauliflower cheese, stuffing and gravy. My wife had Salmon with plenty of gluten-free sides. The food was excellent in every way. Plenty of space with areas for dogs and kids too. Not the cheapest but absolutely worth every penny. 10/10.

The parking is getting extremely dangerous. Hopefully they will solve this before someone is seriously hurt.

This is our third time at the Walnut Tree Inn, which didn’t disappoint us. Staff are well presented who were knowledgeable and informative. The carvery is an absolute must, lots to choose from plus a choice of 4 meats 🍖🍗🥩🐖

Fantastic pub with a lovely outdoor area. Reasonably priced with a nice varied menu and friendly staff. Ideal stop off point when travelling to/from Stourhead or travelling along the A303 or A350.

Wish I lived closer, cos the Carvery looked amazing! I only popped in for a drink, but the outside seating area was very nice and in the sun so very pleasant. Drink was a bit pricey £5.95 for St Miguel but it is everywhere now.

Booked for a family lunch. 16 people (12 adults & 4 children aged 2-7) plus 4 dogs. Email correspondence was easy, and food was ordered in advance. The location was perfect for all families driving approximately 2 hours to here. The pub is lovely. Great atmosphere & there's a children's play area just outside. The food was brilliant. Highly recommended 👌

Very nice looking building situated in a lovely village. The carvery looked nice but instead chose the walnut burger. It came with crispy chips and coleslaw. Burger Patty was thick and had a nice crispiness to it. We then ordered Profiteroles with chocolate and toffee sauce. This dessert was so delicious and quite a nice sauce going with it. The Profiteroles themselves were big and filled with cream. Overall customer service was very good and enjoyed every minute of it. I would highly recommend !!

Fantastic meal, great service and brilliant staff.

We came as staying near the area and looking for safe places to eat to cater for me being coeliac. The slogan 'the walnut tree, the place to be for gluten-free' made me feel at ease. We ordered the GF haloumi fries and nachos to share, and the chilli jam that came with haloumi was yummy. I then ordered the battered fish and chips, as it is very rare for it to be available GF, and it was delicious, although far too many chips after our starters as well. My husband had the chicken Diane, and he couldn't praise it enough. He never finishes his meal when we go out as he gets bored of the flavours, but he finished this meal as it was all so tasty. I'm glad we found this place and would definitely recommend it and would visit again if we were ever back down this area. The photo shows the X marked as not available for GF, so they were true to their word in that 90% of the menu is available GF. Massive reassurance when the staff stated they will warm up the separate fryer, which shows they are mindful of cross-contamination. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere, very busy and child friendly.

Wonderful Sunday carvery, super portions and very attentive servers, but I wouldmak sure you're hungry! It's certainly worth every penny.

Fist time I have been here since before covid, they have had a bit of a change around but the Sunday carvery was still as good as I remember! Lovely choice of meats, great roasties and good choice of veg. Very busy and although most of the staff are young, they are competent. It was really busy at lunchtime so I’m guessing it’s best to book in advance as we did.

Really good meal. Was worried as heard quality had dropped, but can say while group enjoyed good nicely prepared food.

Stopped in for some food on a trip to the west country, the pubs got a small carpark to the rear or street parking, great outdoor space and dog friendly. Good food and great hospitality, toilets are a trek upstairs.

Met family for a halfway lunch as we're in Devon and they're in London. Have to say we were impressed, the place is lovely, the staff delightful and the food is quite clearly prepared and served with love. I can't praise the whole team enough, we were treated like royalty and will certainly return. Highly recommended

It might be a bit out of the way, but we'll worth a visit. Once you have been you will defenatly want to go again.

Superb Sunday Carvery, Gluten free option is awesome but do ring first and order ahead it saves the 15 min wait for cooking, Great quality and amount of food totally recommended and pre book your table is almost essential!!

We just called in for a quick drink, which was good We have yet to try the food. We have now tried the food on 3 seperate occasion and have found it really good and the staff very helpful altogether a excellent experience .🙂

Fantastic food and service, the young girl serving us was great loved banter and a great smile More seriously the gluten free options for us was a must,with my wife being coeliac , their range on the menu was fab I can't recommend this enough , except don't all crowd there I wanna still get a table next weekend lol

On holiday eventually found a pub that did food got in at 7,50 got drinks ordered food by 8 at 9 asked when food was coming order hadn’t gone through so no food what a complete waste of time honestly thought pubs would be crying out for customers Wouldn’t recommend this to ANYONE
