Busy pub with good beer selection

They don’t allow people with disabilities in that pub especially if they need the toilet I wouldn’t recommend that pub to anyone

Classic old pub in good spot in town not plagued with cars with a fabulous selection of cider and Belgian beer. Not pricey either with friendly service. I'll be back though a bit of a drive from home.

Popped in here with my good friend Jim after going to a record store. Nice shandy.

It is one few pubs love in town. This is my favourite because it is a no fruit machine. It mind me of cross key pub in Thame. Where I live old-fashioned pub great music and great pub

Monk Unfortunately, it’s a bad review for one member of staff. My dad, my brother and I had come in on a Friday night for a few drinks. I like this pub, I’m from Chippenham but no longer live in the UK, so when I do revisit home, it’s a pub I like to frequent. Unfortunately when we came in for a drink, we were presented with awful attitude from the staff. For context, we had just been to the Chippenham beer festival for the first time, upon entry, we were given complimentary beer glasses. When we left, we of course brought these with us, and on the way home decided to go to the Flying Monk for a drink. When my dad decided to leave the Monk early, he of course brought with him our glasses from the aforementioned beer festival. When I went to the bar to get a drink for my brother and I, the barmaid decided it would be a good idea to accuse my dad of stealing glasses from their pub (an honest mistake perhaps), but when I provided her with the context that these glasses were a gift from the beer festival we had just attended, instead of walking it back, she decided to double down on the notion of my father being a thief. Embarrassing behavior from her unfortunately, a good beer pub with a rude and incompetent staff member. Great Guinness though! Thanks.

The pub doesn't have many tables so wasn't easy to find a seat, although we did visit on a Friday evening. Drinks were reasonably priced and the service was quivkt

This is my new favourite pub in chippenham, with it's chilled and friendly atmosphere.

I didn't eat there but everything else was good so ill assume food is good

What. Pub, easily the best selection of good quality beers coders and spirits, the dog is lovely and I can't believe how reasonably priced it is!

First time visiting today. Lovely atmosphere but had to wait at bar for 15 minutes to be served a drink as no one was behind it!

Went in for a drink went to the bar and I was told I wasn't welcome in the place and was asked to leave even though I never been in the place before and when I asked why they wanted me to leave they didn't answer me and when I said it was my first time in the pub they said and your last now please leave how rude

Went here for the Folk Festival weekend. What a fantastic atmosphere. 50 different ciders. Fantastic service.

Shockingly poor service and atmosphere. Staff were stretched and clearly not enjoying their work so service very slow exacerbated by single working card machine (and even then my cash was vehemently refused!) . Landlord extremely disagreeable so maybe that explains lack of cheer of staff.

Lovely Beers Nice service Not bad prices

I hadn't been in for a while; probably not since the name change. It was quiet when I went, late on a Saturday night, but regardless of why that is (probably the cost of living crisis or the cold weather - it's noticeably affecting several Pubs and the street outside), this Pub wasn't too badly affected. It actually improved things, as there were enough people in to feel socialible, without it being too noisy to hear each other. Lots of people I hadn't seen for a while too, so a different crowd generally to other Pubs, and that's important. The bar staff were very quick & efficient, which made getting on with socialising, seamless. The decor with lots of wood, makes for floors with "give", and acoustically absorbent surfaces, so there isn't too much echo. Maybe it's more about how the wood is mounted, ie with springiness. A good friendly experience overall, and I'll make a point of visiting more often.

A quietly busy and buzzing pub with a great range of real ales and really nice wine. Really professional and friendly staff. Obviously a local pub but welcoming to anyone.

First time in this pub, I liked it.

Its been an age since i visited this establishment but had some free time on my hands so thought i'd pop in for a swift un. They have a large selection of different ales & ciders to choose from as well as the usual spirits. I tried one of the more obscure ciders but it was lovely. The staff were very polite & welcoming & i'll definitely be making a return visit.

Lovely vintage style pub in the center of Chippenham less the 4 mins walk from the station a variety of popular and less seen drinks the pubs decor is great if you love old timey style pubs. Bar tender was friendly and it seemed like a nice atmosphere with fair prices for the service and for that vintage bar feel

Love this real ale & ciders pub. On Saturday I had the pleasure of being in Chippenham and got to pay it a visit. In a very good way, little had changed. Great range of beers and ciders, not just the big commercial staples but small brewers and guest ales on tap too. Staff friendly & welcoming, as was the dog in residence. As for decor, the style is basic but quirky, as befits a real ale establishment. Long may it retain its individual character.

Lovely place, lovely people, there's an in house dog 😍 and the range of ciders is extensive. The staff really know what's what and they will give you advice on what to have depending on what your usual preference is. Pricing is great and it's so central to town so if you fancy that downtime pint after shopping or fancy a park walk afterwards, it's only a stones through away! Would highly recommend.

A nice place for a beer in Chippenham. Real ales were good. Sort of traditional agricultural local feel. It looks closed when it isn't.

Very unfriendly , unwelcoming bartender . Went there on my own whilst on the working trip in Chippenham. I ordered a glass of wine took a seat , finish my drink and left , leaving the empty glass on the bar . The bartender chased me on the street shouting that I stole the glass ! I mean seriously ? ?

We went to The Flying Monk for the first time on Saturday to see a Rocky Horror inspired drag show. It was the best night I've had in ages. The atmosphere was very friendly and much fun was had by all. Please do something similar again because I know we will all want to come. Thanks. 😁

Cold, empty and yet it took 3 attempts to get a clean glass to try some very average 'Mighty Monk' ale. Nothing mighty in here!

Really good quality beers and ciders from a small, local brewery. This pub has also managed to create a smart, comfortable and cosy environment that challenges the other pubs nearby on all fronts. The food menu is not extensive but what is available is all cooked fresh, tasty and comes out well-presented. Good value for money and a top class pub.

Great pub , nice range of beers & lagers. Food is a lovely change from franchised pub meals served quickly . The top thing though are the landlords/ staff 10/10 every time .
