Always good food and lovely staff

Lovely pub with a nice beer garden. Good for families and dogs.

Well worth the 2 mile walk, to receive the lovely welcome from the bar maid at this great country pub. Good menu reasonably priced food. Good beer too.

Great local pub with a decent sized garden and play area for the kids. Food was decent and reasonably priced. Very impressed to see vegan options in a rural pub! Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great to find a free table on Bank Holiday Monday when there were lots of reserved and unavailable tables. Beer was good but the food was poor. Microwave reheated, soggy vegetables. I'm sure the quality is much better during quieter times.

Nice locals & staff. Good beef burger and garlic and herb pork dishes. We also had the chocolate fudge cake, which was pretty good also. Nice lil find....passing through.

Lovely friendly country pub very good menu plenty of choices. Hosts very friendly so is the Bar staff 👍we went again today with friends and the food was excellent 👌. Message for the fox and goose, stand by as we will be there again next week with troublesome Jimmy.

Can't rate the food as they stop serving so early we missed it. Accept the reason for the kitchen shutting early thanks. Hopefully next time.

Proper pub with proper pub grub. Even gluten free. First visit on bank holiday Monday. It was busy. Found this place by getting lost but I will find my way back.

Stopped over on our way back to London, their staff was very cheerful and accommodating. We really enjoyed their grilled mackerel which was one of the daily specials.

Nice place to eat have been here a few times over the years being from N Z but dont like dogs being around when food is being consumed ,health hazzsard.

Only negative was the table was a bit small for 4 but food and service top notch

Such a beautiful place. All staff are welcoming and friendly food was good fantastic service and beautiful garden to sit on with a play area for children. Also dog friendly. Would highly recommend this place.

Nice service, delicious food and drink.

3 generation family meal ranging from burgers, trio of steaks, grilled plaice and the to die for steak pie. Friendly & attentive waiting staff made for a very enjoyable meal. Thoroughly recommend and we’ll be back if we ever find ourselves in the area again.

Stopped here for lunch en route from Bridport to Oxfordshire. Food good, environs good, staff great. Thought we might have been too late but they serve food all day.

Stopped here for some food on the way back from Stonehenge and was not disappointed. Excellent service, friendly locals and lovely food. Bendigedig. Even got some great advice on local sightseeing. Thanks to all!

Quality pub lunch - really well made food, with some lovely specials in addition to (high quality) standards. A regular stop-off for us, and highly recommended. Staff are always lovely too, even when it's busy and they're under pressure

Very nice pub. We stopped here for lunch and had very nice baguettes in the beer garden - I had Brie and cranberry. A really good Guinness here too

Delicious classic pub food in a beautiful place

Stopped here on the way home from Portsmouth. Pub was very quite when we arrived, which was late afternoon. Which is a shame, as the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Definitely one to look out for on the A35.

Country pubs don’t get much better than this. Food is great value. The non-alcoholic beer selection will make a tea-total-ler weep.

Had a fantastic lunch today. Great portion sizes, varied menu with some pub lunch classics (very nice to see), fast and friendly service, very reasonably priced. Dog, family and wheelchair user friendly. Great beer garden and ample parking. Would definitely recommend and will be back again

Went for dinner here this evening, the food was fabulous. Proper good pub grub, the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly but the stand out thing was the service. It was a busy Friday evening, most tables were reserved or full and yet the food came out in good time and the waiters/waitresses/bar staff were very attentive and good humoured. Will definitely come here again.

Good honest food in a casual, cozy atmosphere. Everything was just very tasty but the desserts were fantastic! The super friendly owner who has been running this tent for 25 years, together with his nice staff, does everything they can to give you a wonderful experience. Highly recommended, definitely go if you are in the area!

Duck with cherry pie was good but not sure cherries the best choice? Plum or orange possibly bit better, but was interesting flavour. Lovely pastry and well cooked vegetables. My friend had the chicken curry which unfortunately was rather dry, needed a sauce. She said the curry flavour needed to be a little stronger. The apple and rhubarb crumble was excellent.

The food was not very good and I only ordered a sandwich! Thick margarine, tasteless cheese and tomatoes and no dressing on the side salad. Ploughman’s was poor quality, as was the pie and vegetables.

Had an amazing Sunday lunch, plenty to eat, so good value.Served piping hot. Will be back

Great pub find for a lunch on our way back from Cornwall. Really crowded, but it did not feel that way. Food was great and the service was quick. I did not get a pint since I was driving. Insert sad face here.

Friendly welcome and good setting inside and out. Service and beer good but food plain. Gammon egg and chips was ham egg and chips and fish and chips was ‘bought in’ battered fish with unappealing chips and garden peas. Otherwise would have been a 4.5:5 star rating. Very sympathetic to the pub industry facing such increased costs which inevitably impacts their offering unless prices increased. So a difficult balancing act.

Lovely little pub. Nice fire going during the winter, and the garden is quite cozy in the summer. While their menu and website don't do their food justice, it's some of the best noms to have in Salisbury. They always have something interesting on the specials board too. Service has always been amazing, and the staff + landlord are super welcoming. Only real complaint I can think of is the old bloke frequenting the establishment with fairly hateful views, but hay, it completes the country pub aesthetic and is somewhat hilarious.

Had venison sauages and mash. Very nice 👌. Only downside is not much if you are dairy free and the sorbet had dairy in too. That was one of our party and not myself.

This is an excellent village pub, with a good atmosphere, open fire, friendly staff, loads of parking, well looked after gardens and food that is served piping, hot and promptly. Certainly recommend.

Really lovely place. Been for food before on several occasions but recently popped into the pub for a shandy! One of the crispest pints pulled! Lovely chat with bar staff too. Very friendly place to visit.

Birthday party for twenty people, everyone pre-order their meals, so a variety of meals ,I choose scampi it was nothing special just like any other pub food. The waitress and waiters were very attentive to our needs. There was a special board for desserts if you wanted but I just wanted a coffee. Although a pub most of the sitting area was all reserved for diners. Quite a busy friendly pub with plenty of car parking space.

We'd never been to The Fox and Goose before but it was a midway meeting point for a family lunch. I'm so pleased we found it. The food was extremely tasty and well presented by staff who obviously enjoyed their work. We had 6 different mains,all were very well received. 5 different desserts ,with Bannofee pie being pronounced the best ever. ( I think my cherry roulade was the best !!!) We will definately drive here to eat again. Well done.

First time visit, everyone was very friendly who works there. They have a large menu choice with special board , and as we went on a Sunday, we were treated to a very enjoyable Sunday roast. Would definitely go there again when passing that way

Lovely food, we visited twice in two days. The food was good, the portion sizes were fine, the service pleasant and the atmosphere was one of a traditional English countryside pub. My only real gripe was the sticky tables, the tables were clean it must be the cleaning agent reacting to the varnish.

This is a great place for quality pub grub, there is an extensive range of meals to suit all tastes. The food arrives hot and well cooked. The portion sizes are more than adequate with just enough room for a delicious pudding. There is a really friendly atmosphere here with plenty of locals sitting down for their meals, always an indication of good value.

Had lunch here today. Friendly staff, nice table looking out onto pretty garden, really lovely fresh cooked main and a yummy desert. Good portion sizes and efficient service. Will come here next time I am in the area for sure. Lots of parking.

Only dropped in for a drink on way to Salisbury races. Service was good. Choice of drinks good. Didn't eat, but place was far busier than I expected and many clients seemed to be returned clients. Would recommend.

Stopped of on my way home from Weymouth. Typical 'Sunday Roast' menu. OK but nothing special. I had the duck and cherry pie with veg. My personal preference is to have all my food served at the same time on the same plate. I know it's not unique to this venue....by why are the veg served on their own tiny mini plate? My wife had fish and chips and my brother had gammon, egg and chips. All basically average. OK, nothing special.

Nice atmosphere and quite a few people eating early on a Saturday night. We will be back to try the food! The garden is well maintained with a small kids area, the equipment is fine and in good condition but not the most exciting. It is still the best pub garden for families we have found in the Salisbury area so far after trying many this summer.

Very good food and served on hot plates. If you're passing well worth a visit.

We came across this pub while driving to the coastal area. We absolutely enjoyed Sunday roast. The food was delicious! We were not only satisfied with the service but also the staff members. The price was resonable. Overall, 10 out of 10!
