This is the Cafe that used to be 'Mortimers' so was keen to see if the slow service had improved......it has! Attentive staff and plain but very good food served quickly and in a friendly different atmosphere. Well done! New Owners ! We will, and already have, been back !

Absolutely the best gluten free cream tea in Somerset! The staff are friendly and helpful, catering for both coeliac and nut allergies with a focus on separating allergens.

Was on a long walk with my dog…. Was made very welcome in this beautiful place, perfect cuppa and the very best coffee and walnut cake I’ve ever had. Just amazing! Thank you.

Thai

Thai has always been my favourite cuisine but no matter where I go in the UK, nothing compares to this little slice of paradise. The food is exceptional and the setting unrivalled. It’s the only place me and my husband go to without speaking - because we are too busy eating. Don’t question it. Just book it!

So the location is great- lovely village, lovely pub. The vegetarian option (small size main) consists of 2 small pieces of aubergine in an overly sweet, bright orange sauce with a tiny green salad with no dressing. At £15.95! The mushroom soup was nice with lots of bread but no butter. The affogato was nice Cornish ice-cream (why not Devon ice-cream??) and a truly awful coffee. Have a beer and eat elsewhere.

This is not a review of the ice cream parlour which was closed (probably due to Covid-19). The same people run a trio of cottages to let, Oak, Ash and Sycamore. I stayed in Oak with my family bubble and we had a lovely time. Great facilities and close to some fantastic Exmoor walks, so lovely to go somewhere different after lockdown that was safe. Very clean and well looked after, nice wood-burner for those chilly April evenings. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, cooker, etc. all you could wish for.

This fish & chip shop - takeaway or eat in -is exceptional. The fish is so fresh, the batter is light & tasty, the chips are great. We ate in their small adjoining cafe, the service is brilliant, friendly & polite. The prices are extremely reasonable. The best fish & chips we have had for a very long time. Well done!

This is now called Exmoor fish and chips. Very clean and well run, girls wearing hairnets. Very quick service. The Boss had small cod, cooked fresh which she pronounced excellent. I had pie also very good. Shed load of really good chips. All in all a good chippie. I recommend them.

Lovely little pub with lots of southern charm. The two ladies working there were really friendly, funny and great with our toddler! The food was lovely - it was great to see a dedicated vegetarian and vegan board. One thing to note is that they don't do kids meals - although we managed to feed our toddler with a starter and by sharing our food. Would highly recommend!

What a great find this place was for our evening meal. It’s a family run restaurant, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. The food was simply delicious. It’s was very reasonably priced and obviously cooked to order - not a microwave in sight. You could taste the love and care that had been put into the meal. Highly recommended

As three couples we arrived for a little get together -some of the group were regularly at Woods. It is a place that really has an authentic atmosphere for a Devon pub but with very good consistently delivered food and with a great wine cellar. We asked for a few changes on the dishes which were all fine and I had a great Duck dish accompanied by Asian style vegetables. Others had a. Dry enjoyable lamb dish but to me (and generally not a pudding person) a superb custard tart with young forced rhubarb and it has a tiny tinge of ginger - delightful. Friendly and relaxed it is not a place for pomp and fussing but it does deliver a consistent and honest high quality pub food.
