We were staying in Dulverton over the Whitsun bank holiday weekend and decided to have a chippy tea on the Saturday night. We both had small cod @ £3.99 and shared a medium portion of chips. More than enough for our appetites and very well cooked (light batter). Would definitely recommend and use again.

Absolutely love these chips! Very friendly staff, though there may be a question this is because they are sooo delicious and worth the wait! Family visit us just to be able to have the fish and chips!!! Not to see us 🤣

I have visited this fish & chip shop on numerous times over twenty years on our annual visits to Dulverton. We always visit the chip shop on our visits. It’s changed hands on numerous times over the years. This years visit was no disappointment. It was as good as ever, maybe even bette. The chips were cooked to perfection, brown on the outside and light and fluffy inside. The fish was fantastic, light and crispy batter and excellent fish. We both had the same and really enjoyed our meals. Generous portions too. We wil be back on our next visit.

Theres 4 of us staying in a cottage in Dulverton it was our first evening and we were all tired after a 7 hr journey So opted for fish & chips the fish was really tasty with big flakes of fish We ended up throwing some chips away there was that many we had 4 medium fish and 2 portions chips and a large curry sauce £37 ....really nice

Good food.. Good portion sizes. We preordered x7 fish and chip meals. Including mushy peas and delicious curry sauce. Much better under new management. Will definitely return.

The new management have done wonders, looks very inviting. The fish and chips were delicious, not greasy at all, lovely hot and fresh. We wish them all the best with putting the fish and chip shop up there with the best. Have no hesitation in recommending. Will certainly visiting again.

Visited this chip shop whilst on holiday nearby. Only a small chippy, seems family run. Ordered food on arrival and was given an order number. Waited outside whilst order cooked fresh. Waited a while but was worth waiting for. Fabulous fish and chips. White flaky fish with crispy batter. Excellent chips and good size portion. Definitely recommend.

The Fish and Chips were excellent - however I might suggest that a Time and Motion expert might have had our food in our hands a little quicker than the 35 minutes we had to wait.

Firstly, I think the name has changed to simply Dulverton FIsh and Chips. Anyway, I was staying at a somewhat pricey Airbnb down the road, so I decided to have takeaway fish and chips for dinner one night instead of eating out. Inside, this chippy looks very utilitarian, but don't let that put you off. We soon found out the reason for the huge pile of books (children's and adults') - everything is cooked to order and there is a considerable wait as a result. However, unless you are really pressed for time or have parking issues, this should not be an issue given the quality. The prices are standard fish and chip prices, but the quality is above your standard chippy. Recommended.

We used the takeaway facility. It was fairly good value for money. Various closing times are quoted online, but it is usually 21:00.

Freshly cooked food and the fish is gorgeous. Staff are friendly and the owner is lovely. Bit of a wait due to being freshly cooked and the last few times the chips have been a bit “scabby”.

A highlight of our annual stay in Dulverton is always a visit to the local chip shop and this year was no exception. Everything was freshly cooked to our order, cod, fish cakes, chicken pieces, sausage and sausage in batter. All were excellent. Very friendly staff too who gave us an extra bag of chips as it was near closing time. We will be back for more!

Very popular chippy, good service and good portion sizes great tasting fish and chips. fish is cooked to order but waiting time was not to long.

Living abroad I always look forward to local fish and chips. I was not disappointed. Very popular with several locals in the shop when we arrived. They offer gluten free battered fish but you have to order twenty minutes in advance. No problem as we went to the pub round the corner for a pint. The service is friendly and professional and very friendly. The cod was perfectly cooked and the batter was crisp. Chips were wonderful We had a great feast and very very reasonably priced. A wonderful meal and served with a wonderful smile. Well worth going.

So there was a staff shortage and only two people running what looked like a busy friday. Then we pitch up with a gluten free batter order. No problem, but it will be cooked fresh so you OK to wait. When the order was called in what I thought was a very reasonable time, not only was the batter gluten free but the chips has been cooked so they weren't contaminated with batter. Couldn't get better service.

Not sure the staff know what they are doing. Ordered two cod and chips with mushy peas. When I got it home, the fish was overcooked. with an exoskeleton of hard burnt batter and the chips tasted old and stale and not at all pleasant. Mushy peas were OK probably because its out of a tin and just needs warming up. The young couple staffing it need some retraining in how to do their jobs properly.

Recently purchased 2x fish and chip portions . Greasy tasteless chips, soggy batter with over cooked dry fish. Maybe it was the chefs night off, either way I’m going to be awhile before I order again

Went to the Bridge Inn hoping for a table, but full up. No idea where else to go on a Saturday night, so we chose Catleys take away.

We travelled 10 miles from our holiday lodgings to get here, whilst the staff were polite enough the food I would say was average, chips tasted as though they had been cooked then reheated. Fish was nice batter was a-bit cardboardy in places where it was a-bit thick. Don’t get me wrong it’s decent enough but nothing special

Unlike some of the of the pretentious pubs and restaurants in Dulverton the fish and chips served from this little shop is absolutely great. The exterior of the fish and chip shop is a little run down in appearance but results are awesome...generous portions of fish and chips and not expensive. Wish we had as good a fish and chip shop near us at home. Takeaway service only served in wrapped paper no foam or cardboard packaging. Well done you for thinking about the environment....

We visit Dulverton as a family at least once a year and we always have fish & chips from the local fish & chip shop in Dulverton for one meal. I think this is the third lot of owners since we ha e been coming to Dulverton, but the quality is still as good as on our first visit 14 years ago.

Our most recent visit was the best ever, the chips were completely fabulous and the fish as fresh as anything. Everything seems to be pretty much cooked to order in peak times so there can be a small wait but, it was worth every second!

Having read a previous review regarding portion size being small we ordered medium fish and a separate cod bites for my partner. We noticed that there are three sizes if chips available.

Sadly I had to go back and ask for more chips as the portion for two people was only a handful They gave me another handful. The did was nice and had more personality than the staff.

Wow! Absolutely the best fish n chips ever and coming from the seaside resort of Cromer I’ve tried some real good uns! Didn’t think it was possible but there it is! Cooked and flavoursome to perfection.

A bit disappointed with my order tonight. Had a medium chips at lunchtime yesterday which were the best I’d ever tasted, simply delicious crispy fluffy chips what were to die for. However tonight I went for two large cod and 1 large chips and what a different experience. The chips firstly were half the size of the medium and I could see when they were served I had the last of that fry which was just bad serving. The fish was more like cod bites and resembled big goldfish rather than large cod.

Had fish and chips out of here my wife a veggie burger and nephew a burger all with chips. Nephew, wife and myself were in total agreement that these were the best chips we can remember having and huge portions. Ok granted I've had slightly better fish but the chips more than compensated for that.

First time we went here it was lovely, we had kebabs and they were spicy and the chips were perfect. Second time the meat had changed, no where near as nice, then the 3rd time changed again Under cooked meat and brown hard undercooked chips! Such a shame as it should be a little goldmine with a captive audience.

Under new management and this lady is pulling out the stops to regain a reputation that was lost by the previous owners, and she’s doing great. I’ve not had anything less than tasty, crispy, fresh fish and chips, I always ask for ‘extra crispy chips’ as I HATE soggy chips, they’ve always accommodated me....thanks for that!

Went in on Fri evening with a group of friends we waited while our food was cooked fresh and we were not disappointed it was very much enjoyed will definitely go back if passing. Called in here by chance on Bank holiday Sunday. We all had cheesy chips and we were all agreed that these were the best chips we can ever remember having! Bit of a wait as all is cooked fresh but wow it's worth it.

First time we have visited since the new owners took over. We were disappointed as the chips were under cooked. Unfortunately this is the case at many chip shops were the chips are not cooked long enough and look white and mushed up together rather than brown. We have visited many times under the previous owners and the chips were great, cooked though, brown and not all stuck together when you open the paper. Not so bad as we won't try it again. Shame really, hope it will improve. Nice fishcake though.

This establishment is under new management according to the notice outside. If it does not show improvement I think it will be under new management again. We waited 40 minutes for sausage and chips, granted there was a customer in front of us ordering 8 portions of fish and chips but, it appeared that each order was done as ordered not fitting simpler orders in between. Two people walked out asking for their money back

Excellent cooked to order 2 medium portions of haddock & plus a medium portion of chips for £11.00, Very bust with locals and "visitors". Some i note had phoned forward an order. Friendly staff. Will use again when next in the Dulverton area.

With the new management well in place. The menu has changed dramatically all for the best. The people who do the cooking and serving are very friendly. My and my wife's favourite is there Burger with cheese and Pineapple. Try it
