You won’t find a better chip anywhere around here - crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Really superb. I was a loyal Abbey Friar customer for many years, but I think Somewhere Else Fishy have overtaken them!

Don't understand the reviews or the hotel's self description. We had 5 small plates between us: duck leg - very tender,as if slow cooked, but unbelievably salty/inedible; bream - very slightly overdone, which was acceptable, but very small piece & came with kale, also incredibly salty (why was it pre-salted anyway?). Stuffed peppers, greasy & filled with a very unappetising sludge- not sure what was in it. Fourth was a dish of ''deep fried new potatoes with sea salt, truffle oil & parmesan'' - dry to the point of inedible, incredibly salty, & no noticeable truffle taste. Lastly, ''fritto di portabello fungi'', ie. slimy mushrooms, which didn't work well with the taste of tarragon, in a very heavy batter. Waitress (very nice girl) said we weren't the first to complain about the saltiness. And I should add that my partner, recently in Florence & not usually one to complain (she's a ''glass half full person'' apparently), pronounced that there was nothing authentically Italian about this quite poor food. Wine was OK, but overall, for 94 quid, the whole experience was unhealthy & depressing.

Super buzzy place with great selection of home made food, sweet and savoury. Staff seemed to be enjoying their job which is good to see. The outside courtyard is a good place to sit on a sunny day but a few more plants/ general mood setting things could make it glorious.

Good Second Hand Bookshops are becoming rarer than the books they sell. This one is a gem and worth a pilgrimage, take in a visit to the abbey as well! On the two occasions I visited shelves were stacked floor to ceiling, others were stacked on tables awaiting sorting. A great place to browse and discover an interesting book or two or more. This bookshop is mentioned in my 1992 93 copy of Drif's Guide to the Secondhand Bookshops of the British Isles. You can also take a break from book browsing and enjoy what the small cafe has to offer.

Myself and my partner often go to “The Hub” for our lunch and usually it’s a pleasant experience, however the last couple of times I have found a member of the team miserable, unapproachable, verging on rude!! I have had to bite my tongue, they look like they don’t want to be there!

Gorgeous pastries and lovely coffee. Great decor too. An excellent addition to the town centre. Loyalty scheme available for coffee purchases. Their toasted ham and cheese on sourdough is amazing and their freshly made sandwiches are excellent. One of my favourite cakes is their Bakewell. Yum!

I came to meet some friends for some drinks and thought it wise to leave my car in the car park rather than drive home after a few drinks. I came back to my car with a note threatening me to be clamped if I leave my car there again. Well no chance of that as I will not be spending my money in this s hole. What a way to promote drink driving and repeat business. Out of business by Christmas on that basis

The room was dirty with mould and dust in the corners of the windows and on the blind in the bathroom. Water marks on the bath made it look like it hadn't been cleaned at all. The outer windows don't close at all and the inner secondary glazing is old, dirty and not sound proof - every noise from the road outside is heard clearly.

A brilliant day learning the skills to make laminated dough for pastries such as croissant and pain au chocolates. Everything was explained really clearly by Steve and we had a lovely lunch tasting some of the shop made products. Lots of fun and well worth the time. Will definitely do one of the other courses soon. The final products were delicious if a little rustic but that skill will come with practice.
