The hotel is old and perhaps needs a refurbishment. The staff are friendly and helpful. We didn't eat there so don't know the quality of the food. One of the walls in our room was damp.

Always come in the moon for a good Saturday night! Louie at the bar always knows what I drink and pours it before I even reach the bar!

Not only did I enjoy a couple of pints of decent cider in the comfortable surroundings of this proper pub, but I got to meet, and engage in conversation, with one of the regulars, 'The Avenging Angel' himself. An amazing experience by all accounts and one that I will remember for the rest of my days. The avenging angel, Wow!

Staff friendly and welcoming. But room very tired and in need of refurbishment. Thus is down to the owners not the staff that work there

The first impression of the room one was it’s paint damaged door and internal bathroom door, presentation of the room was not good at all with stains on the carpets, generally a tired room. We felt the presentation so poor we chose not to stay at the half moon, for the brief time we were there the staff were polite

Heating was not working on Second floor so had to move to a room on the First floor. Cutlery in the room was dirty and had dust in the cups. Glasses were not washed just wiped.

The staff are all lovely and friendly, extremely accommodating to my changing shifts and helped me as much as they could with asking housekeeping to stay quiet near my room after my night shifts. The staff really can’t do enough for you and will do everything to make your stay easier. Although it’s a bit loud in the evening when trying to sleep for a morning shift, it’s to be expected staying above a pub and nice to see a pub being so used by locals! The room was lovely, beds extremely comfortable and pillows were lovely!

A comfy room in a great location right in the heart of Sherborne. Booking and checking in was very easy and we had a meal in the evening downstairs in the pub and the food was lovely. I also had a breakfast in the morning which I have included some pics of. I have dropped a star off the room rating simply because the rooms are a bit dated. This may be partly due to the age of the building. The windows for instance are double paned rather than double glazing. The outside of these are very old and hard to get closed and so are pretty drafty. Add to this that there didn't seem like a lot of heating coming from the radiators and it was a bit cool in the room. Luckily the bed was very warm and cosy and the shower nice and warm too. The shower itself was over a bath that was also a bit tired and had some black mould showing but was other wise in a very clean and tidy bathroom that had everything you would need in it. Parking is available in site and you just make sure to register your vehicle with the hotel when you book in and its free. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is just at the bottom of the high street. So you are able to walk out of the door and walk through Sherbourne. It is a small pretty town with one high street. I would recommend the Half moon considering the price I paid, £58 for the night it was very good.

Room was a bit tired, but had everything I needed and was clean and comfortable. Good location as I was staying here to visit my husband in Yeatman Hospital. I have just had replacement knee surgery so things are very difficult. The staff here have been fantastic, so kind and caring and helpful. I haven’t felt as isolated as I expected and would definitely stay here again. Special thanks to Katie the Manager and Tracy and the Housekeepers. All staff so friendly and helpful. Thanks to them all. Your best assets for sure.

We stayed as a couple overnight in late September while touring the area. We chose the Half Moon based on its central location and the fact it had free parking included. We were allocated a room on the 1st floor on the back of the pub as we had requested a quiet room. We overlooked the roof of the extension and kitchens, not so picturesque but not a problem as we were only there one night. The room was clean and tidy, pretty small but with almost no storage space. Bathroom was also clean and tidy. In general, comfortable enough for our needs, but the room to room sound insulation was not so good. Wi-Fi in the room was pretty non-existent but fine in the bar. In general the rooms could do with some modernisation/makeover. We ate our evening meal in the pub as it was one of the only places serving food on a Monday night. That said our food was tasty, served promptly and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ample although we were not offered juice or toast with our Full English...

Very tired rooms.I stayed in two different rooms on two occasions with a large group of club members visiting the area.I could make a list of faults for both.(lights not working, toilet seat very loose etc).On a previous visit I tried the breakfast.Never again,we drove to a garden centre in Yeovil instead. We did not risk having a meal at the Pub but ate out.Good job because on the last night there was a problem with the kitchen and there was no food.A few beers were unavailable as well.Previous reviews mention sticky tables.I don’t know what they clean them with but you could pick up a table using the palms of your hands. The pub is very lively and popular with the young.Noisy at closing time.A few promises were made by a previous manager that were not kept by the present staff,in regards to eating and parking. We will not be returning.

Arrived to find my booking incorrect and had to accept a twin room instead of a double. Shown to room but had to complain as there was no heating. ( Room 6). Transferred to another twin (room 14). The room was clean and comfortable. However the bath had rust marks on the bottom and I felt uncomfortable with using it. Booked a meal for 7pm. Arrived in restaurant but no service....had to order at the bar. Order taken incorrectly. Meal arrived, carrots inedible. Not at all happy.

Food is below par and they usually bring the wrong dish. Ordered a vegetarian pizza and received a pizza with tomato slices on. Ordered a vegan chilli burger and received a regular chilli burger with pulled pork on. Food seems to be frozen microwave meals. I find myself in the unfortunate position of having to stay here for work for a while. If you enjoy greasy, unhealthy, tasteless food then this is the place for you. Rooms are ok. No shower gel etc in the rooms. No plugs in the bathtub. Premier Inn has better facilities

From a conversation with Kerry, the Manager at The Half Moon Hotel in Sherborne, and following an email request by myself shortly afterwards, you very kindly offered us a 20% discount and use of the Restaurant area facilities to hold the first Sherborne Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club event. This was arranged for Sat.30th Oct. and was a huge success. The venue was nicely decorated and the staff extremely efficient, friendly and above all patient to the needs of our collective. They should be commended for their service which was of the highest calibre and a credit to your management and organisation. Many thanks to all and we look forward to the next event.

Comfortable rooms, fairly recently updated, clean and modern. Satisfactory evening pub food - especially if you enjoy football on a very large screen and a game or two of pool! We were well looked after at breakfast, and efficient service. Good value. Will return.

We popped in for food after a trip to the cinema next door. Lovely warm greeting, great advice and opportunity to taste the sauces before making a decision. We had halloumi wrap, pork wrap & chicken wrap. All totally delicious. We will DEFINITELY be back! Thank you 😊

We were camping just down the road this past weekend and decided to have a browse - I'm glad we did as there was much more to this farm shop than I was expecting. Lots of different produce and gifts type things all quite nicely set out. Some things were sensibly priced considering you do expect to pay a slight premium at a farm shop (postcards 50p, fresh scones £1, clotted cream £1.99), but some of the prices were a little shocking - there were loaves of fresh bread at £4.50 and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of ice cream being served at the side of the car park! Overall a worthwhile trip - the scones were delicious, good selection of ciders and got some lovely warm slipper socks. I'd recommend popping in if you're passing (the views are fantastic too) just don't expect any bargains.

When in on a Tuesday and wanted to order pizza like we have done so many times before to be told that I couldn’t have the pizza done half and half as they don’t do half and half on a Tuesday , all I wanted was half cheese and the other half sweetcorn , but the lady said not on a Tuesday , never heard of anything so stupid ever , I have been going to here for the last 10 years but after the experience on Tuesday I will never recommend or return

Ate here Friday evening three of us had wood fired pizzas which were delicious, pleasant staff as always. On the Saturday two of us visited for lunch. We had crab sandwiches with a mixed leaf salad, they were tasty enough but £11 seems too much...
