Travelling with children, I'll always rate a place on how well they're catered for. Friendly welcome, great value kids' menu and most importantly, they didn't skimp on the quality just because they're kids. Chicken nuggets were proper chicken, sausages were decent quality, great chips and ice cream for £1 each. Couldn't try much of their leftovers as I was stuffed after an excellent roast with decent vegetables. Good local beer too. A new favourite.

My Husband and I found this lovely, thatched pub by chance when driving through the village. We were made welcome along with our little dog even though he was being a bit yappy at the time. We ordered Sunday lunches, Turkey for my Husband and veggie nut roast for me. They were both absolutely delicious, and just like you would serve at home. Huge portions, loads of different veggies, roast potatoes and of course a Yorkshire Pudding which is often missing from a veggie dinner. Highly recommended for excellent traditional home made food.

Really excellent value for money and tasty Sunday Roast but for me the Mediterranean Tart was just superb. Proper crispy, tasty chips and a lovely fresh salad accompanied the tart which was simply the best I have ever had. I visited the Crown today with my elderly parents for an impromptu lunch on the way back from a hospital appointment. My 85 year old father cannot walk due to Parkinson’s, and we didn’t have a wheelchair with us, so we weren’t optimistic for being able to stay. However, Paul the landlord couldn’t have been more helpful. He brought a chair outside and helped me get my dad out of the car so he could sit in the sun. We had a lovely lunch. An unexpected treat. Then Paul helped me get my dad back in the car. Super kind. I would highly recommend.

Nice place with good service but one of us had the Cod and chips but the Cod was obviously from frozen including the batter and was not at all nice , we told the waitress who told the chef and there was an apology and we were not charged for it but what amazed me was that nobody asked what was wrong with it as if they were expecting it , overall nothing special to order although it wasn't an expensive place we would have been happy to paid a bit more for better choices .

A wonderful welcoming traditional English pub with fine ales and a small but nice menu. The restaurant is down a short set of steps but is easily accessible. There is also a section on the same level as the entrance so wheelchair access is not a problem. The high beams give a sense of openness to the entire building. Well recommended.

Maybe not back up to speed yet? Landlord didn't know his drink stock. Lot's of staff overlapping, but none interested in acknowledging a waiting customer for drinks and food order. Evening Menu was limited to 'Garden Menu' and consisted of mostly burgers and simple standard take-away type food. Landlord didn't offer any 'dishes of the day' and when questioned about 3 things seen on a blackboard, said they had all gone and just a gammon left. Lovely location and large pub garden, just shame about the lack of any cooking and decent menu, and management needs to get it's act together.

My wife ordered the ham egg and chips at £12 only to find a whitebait in her serving of chips which meant the whitebait, chips and possibly scampi were all cooked using the same fryer which is cross contamination plus when my wife complained the meal was duly taken away and delivered a few minutes later with the same eggs which were now cold! Appalling! The waitress offered to warm the meal back up and not charge but by now she was obviously concerned with what kind of healthy clean kitchen it was and did not wish to risk another offering! I had a small sea bass fillet at £15 which was acceptable but when it came to pay, the front of house although not charging for the return meal which was never touched and exactly correct, she offered nothing in a way of an apology or recompense for a ruined meal very very poor customer relationship and didn’t really know how to address the problem so we left after paying the bill but would I recommend ihis pub for me it’s a big NO!

We had Sunday lunch at the Crown today and it was really so very good. My husband had home made game terrine served with home made piccalili which he said was excellent. My apple and parsnip soup with lovely fresh warm bread was absolutely delicious too. We then chose roast sirloin of beef and roast chicken and again both were very good, beautifully presented and cooked. It is a real joy to have vegetables that were not overcooked and looked and tasted as they should. The pub has recently had a change of landlords, and what a nice atmosphere and good food they provide. Everyone was very friendly and the service very good. The food was very very good. There were 8 of us in out party (3 were children) and we were all delighted with the food. The service was also impeccable. This restaurant would have received 5 stars if it wasn't for a few things. 1/ I find this amazing .... we spend over £100 on a Saturday lunchtime in a restaurant that was half empty and we were asked to pay £5 for the birthday cake as a kind of wierd 'corking charge'. We paid but thought this was unacceptable. 2 / we had to pre-order the food. I have never had to do this outside a special occasion i.e. Xmas, new year. I presumed they must have been busy but, although not quiet, this was not the case. AND we had to wait 40 mins!! 3/ it cost £15 for a salad with no meat in it (Israeli salad which was very good by the way). It was a shame that the restaraunt did all the difficult things very well i.e. Food and service and let itself down by strange quirky policies.

We both had the burgers, but not being too hungry we opted for the ‘smaller appetite’ version which is a great idea. I can honestly say it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Cooked properly (not red in the middle as many places like to serve it these days), with cheese, bacon and a delicious relish - we both really enjoyed it. It was fully booked but the folks kindly squeezed me in which I very much appreciated. So my advice is book before you walk. Had lunch with about 12 friends as part of a walking group. Great food and service. Fresh, and tasty and the host was most attentive. Recommended

Perfect weekend away, highly highly recommend. Location is fab, beautiful, quiet, rural, and only minutes from the beach. Room was clean, comfortable, recently tastefully renovated and provided the perfect base for our weekend away. The pub itself was a bustling village pub with a wonderful atmosphere, loved by locals and holidaymakers alike, a good range of drinks, fab service, old English character, and a warm welcome. Food was superb, steak was to die for and all meals eaten there were well enjoyed, continental breakfast was lovely and having opted for a cooked breakfast at an additional price (which was worth every penny!) we were full for the most part of the day. The locals were friendly and helpful. Last but not least, the staff- incredibly friendly, welcoming, and a joy to be around. Very relaxed although nothing was too much, we felt settled and very at home within minutes of arrival and sat in the bar until late with the owner Ed and other members of his team including Lee and Rory both nights. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish we were booked in for longer, already planning a return visit.

9 of us had a lovely evening. Food was brilliant, loads of gluten free options including fish and chips. Which I hadn't had for years. Hosts was very accommodating helping organise lots of different dietary needs and kids preferences. Will certainly return.

Lovely food, and excellent service. Lots of gluten free options too, including gluten free fish and chips, and crumble. Burgers were amazing too. Also lovely to see a local pub that had locals in it!

Thank you for a great Easter Sunday meal, was a welcome surprise to be remembered from over a month since our last visit and the hosts know how to look after diners without being intrusive. All this despite what was obviously a busy day for the business. We were not hurried at all and had time to enjoy the surroundings and food at our leisure.

We were greeted by ‘mine host’ Ed and staff, and a wonderful Lamb roast and delightful deserts in this gorgeous thatched pub. We had arrived for a late lunch to find ‘Elijah Wolf’ providing over 2 hours of great entertainment. There was a friendly atmosphere...

We stayed nearby and walked up the lane to the pub hoping for an evening meal, but it was all closed up and the garden was overgrown. Possibly it’s fallen victim to the lockdown? (The last review was February 2020.) It didn’t seem as if anyone was at home. A great shame for such an ancient establishment if it has gone to the wall. 😢

Ria went above and beyond today to make us feel valued customers and made sure we had everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy the foods we bought. The selection of pastries, cakes we tried today are the best we have had from a bakery. Thankyou

Attended for coffee only, to meet up with family. Friendly, helpful staff. Good atmosphere. Busy (Saturday morning).
