Dropped in for a late lunch for two as we could see they had a lovely sunny beer garden. What a wonderful place (apart from the smokers). Found a lovely sunny table, had our food & drinks order taken quickly with very good and knowledgeable suggestions for the drinks order, from the very professional waitress, which then arrived quite quickly considering how busy it was and it was very delicious. Highly recommended.

I absolutely refuse to take my older wife here as she will think the queueueue moves too slowly but I think the staff here do their best in satiating the needs of a large cafe . I had a very good soya flat white while my old girl had some crown work carried out at the nearby non NHS dentist. The place is welcoming and warm and despite the Welsh cakes being drier than the Atacana Desert 🌵, I will return for future coffee needs. Hats off to the young staff and the free coffee grounds that kill slugs .

Hmmm that was disappointing. I stood there, by myself, for what felt like a long and uncomfortable time, waiting. Two members of staff chatting to each other, the other apologising as he was wiped off his feet serving others. The young man finally asked the young woman to kindly serve me which she did with very little enthusiasm and no apology. Not a great experience guys 😕

The coffee is good. The wait for service to order is ridiculous. We stood in the queue for 25mins to order while the manager faffed. Later as we drank I watched a lady wait 17 mins for a takeaway! It’s not a 1 off. I have had this here frequently. Going elsewhere…..

Been coming every week for years to meet with group of friends. Really great staff. Coffee nothing special but good place to meet up. However we have all decided to stop coming. The reason is the icy cold, huge blasts from air con!!!!!!!! This is always on even on cold days and difficult to find seats out of range. This morning (Sunday 17th July) I went into Coffee #1 in Bridport. I am a regular to the coffee brand but normally to my local in Yeovil and this was my first visit to the Bridport branch so first impressions and all!! To say that Zara and Leanne made my day was an understatement - they had massive beaming smiles and look as though they thoroughly enjoy their jobs. I had a pot of tea and slice of cake which was ready at the end of the service area by the time I had paid. They were cheerful and bubbly, which was infectious! Zara and Leanne are both a credit to this company and will make almost everyone's day! I have seen a couple of not so good reviews for this shop but sometimes these places are busy and understaffed (following a pandemic and lack of staff to help) so instead of criticising, how about moving some items from the tables if you want to sit there to help out and appreciate the fact that your coffee is freshly made! I for one completely enjoyed my visit and told the girls so. They do a fantastic, sometimes thankless, job so keep going and keep smiling I will be back (in my best Arnie voice!) Love you gals Mandi xxx

As someone who has spent hundreds of hours in coffee shops over many years, I do not say it lightly when I call Coffee#1 Bridport my favourite coffee shop in the country. As I review things for my work I usually do not do so for pleasure, but this place has brought me to trip advisor as it would be selfish not to inform others of how wonderful this place is. My first port of call must be to mention the staff. In particular, Leanne, Alice and Charlotte - thank you for your wonderful service, your kindness, patience and adaptability with a cornucopia of sundry clientele. You make everyone feel welcome, feel like they are special, and you remember their orders with aplomb. You welcome guests into your staff family and it is wonderful to see you having fun together while working hard and ensuring you cater for everyone's needs - pets included. As for the atmosphere it is light, warm, full of fresh air, spacious and always possesses a genial murmur of satisfaction. Be it teenagers coming here after school; dog walkers giving old bones a welcome rest; families with young (and not so young) kids; or even those who want to work from home not-so-much-from-home, there is something here for everyone. Without a doubt the coffee and cakes are all excellent and, if you find yourself in Bridport, drawn to the small town by the hustle of a Wednesday market or the distant sound of West Bay's waves before the rest of the world has woken up, Coffee#1 Bridport will likely be open, as will the arms of its patrons. And once you arrive, you might just find yourself reluctant to leave.

I have visited this shop twice in the last week and twice they couldn't get my order correct. I had a hot chocolate and my husband had an Americano and I asked for cold milk on the side. Three people heard my say cold milk, the last one was standing in front of me pouring it when I said it and so they gave me hot froth in a tiny pitcher. So my husband had to take it back and swap it for cold milk. We decided maybe as it was busy we would give them the benefit of the doubt and went back again and despite me again saying to three people I wanted cold milk I was given hot froth. The same thing happened in the Newbury shop so it seems to be a lack of training across the company. There was no language barrier so that wasn't the problem they just don't care.....I will find an independant coffee shop next time.

We are staying in Bridport and we’re on a timed car park nearby. We came here two years ago and were impressed by the service and coffee, but not today. It was Saturday, Market day and I’m sure Coffee #1 have had busy Saturday lunchtimes before, but they just couldn’t cope. There were about 9 people ahead of us in the queue and it took 15 minutes to get to the till. At one point we were going to give up, but thought that once past the till, it would speed up, but it was another 20 minutes. One chap on till, one girl making drinks and another on the phone trying to call her manager asking for help in the shop (we could hear). You could see others getting irritated. I told the guy on the till that I didn’t want cream and he said we would be asked later and we were, twice. Nearly 40 mins to get 3 coffees is not great and the frappes, although ok, were not worth waiting that long for. Won’t ever go here again.

Nice interior to sit in, and I've ordered tea to drink in at this branch earlier in the year and received average service. Today, however, I ordered a single cup of tea to take away and was left aggravated by the dire service. Not only was the man serving in a sullen, distracted and sarcastic mood, but he had to ask not once but twice what my order was *after* he'd rung it through. I wasn't asked if I wanted a receipt before I was lazily dismissed (without eye contact).I specified to the girl finishing the orders off that I only wanted a tiny drop of milk (only full fat available, btw) then, when I went to sip my tea back at the car I found that she'd drowned the teabag in milk! It was completely undrinkable, and a waste of £2.40, as I was hardly in a position to go back and complain at that point. I'd add that anyone who knew anything about making tea with loose-leaf (which is what C#1 use) would know how tea needs to be brewed before adding any milk. Why not let the customer have access to milk so they can add to their own preference (like other coffee chains) and avoid the whole issue if C#1 can't be bothered to train their staff?I won't be going back in future, and I advise anyone considering stopping in for a cuppa to take a look inside and weigh up the attitudes of the staff serving on that day before making a decision.

Although dogs aren't supposed to be inside, a woman today, came straight in with big black labrador, it lay under the table, chewing a large bone. It had a sash suggesting puppy in training, it was fully grown, looked quite old, I don't think it qualified being inside, even if it was in training, which was doubtful, the owner wasn't visually or hearing impaired. There are plenty of other coffee shops in Bridport that allow dogs inside. I am allergic to dog hair that's why I went in there. Come on Coffee 1, don't let dog owners flout your rule.

The four of us really enjoyed coffees and light snacks at Coffee#1 Bridport last week.Delicious coffees, a yummy veggie wrap, and the largest (and v tasty) almond croissant I've had the pleasure to eat!Nice staff, comfy and plentiful seating, distinctive décor, spacious, good loos, good prices. We really like it.Parking is 5mins level walk away in a choice of two car parks.

Poor service lets down an otherwise nice coffee shop. I don't think it's the staff's fault, it seems like they just need more training. Went in, stood at the counter while two girls behind the counter ignored us for a few minutes...all it takes is a 'I'll be right with you'..you don't just totally ignore customers! The person I was with said the last few times she's been in the same thing happened. Sort it out!

Visited here about midday Sunday 18 Feb. Walked to the counter, man making coffees worked hard at ensuring no eye contact. So, I looked around to see if there were any clues to how to order. As I was doing this, young waitress walked right past me, again, no eye contact, no greeting, nothing. Lots of blackboards behind the counter with details of seasonal coffees, special coffees, etc - but basic customer service - no. Finally, it was not especially busy, so I can’t accept pace of business as an excuse.

Regularly visit this coffee shop and consider it to be the most welcoming in the town. Queues can sometimes be a drag; however, you can always see the friendly staff trying their hardest to accommodate everyone. Despite a few mix ups - as expected, the staff are only human - food service is prompt and the atmosphere of the café is always joyful.

If you -like me - often go for your coffee on your own this is the place to go to in Bridport. Lovely attentive staff and great coffee, well managed by Loz.

Really nice big space and good coffee. The staff work so hard and are cheerful and helpful even when it's really busy. I like the long opening hours too - even when we are shopping after work We can still relax with coffee before walking home.

Ria went above and beyond today to make us feel valued customers and made sure we had everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy the foods we bought. The selection of pastries, cakes we tried today are the best we have had from a bakery. Thankyou

We stayed nearby and walked up the lane to the pub hoping for an evening meal, but it was all closed up and the garden was overgrown. Possibly it’s fallen victim to the lockdown? (The last review was February 2020.) It didn’t seem as if anyone was at home. A great shame for such an ancient establishment if it has gone to the wall. 😢

A reasonable country pub with a range of Palmers beers and a satisfactory menu. It was also reasonably priced.
