This was once a really lovely village pub. Two bars and plenty of atmosphere, now it's nothing really, it resembles more of a holiday camp bar. A good place destroyed. Thanks for your reply, no it's not rose tinted anything, I grew up there in the 60s onwards, the white hart was my local for years. Not your fault someone else destroyed it.

We came here for food. Staff friendly and welcoming. We sat and didn't realise woman near us was Landlady as didn't say hello. We both ordered pie and chips. The landlady got up and put just pair blue gloves on, no apron and cooked food which sounded as if being done in microwave and speed came out. Very few meal options. We saw staff and landlady stroke pub dog and didn't wash hands, landlady picked up bone dog was chewing took in kitchen and filled with something and come back out. There wasn't really an atmosphere. We wouldn't use again and think personal opinion.

What ever you do don't go on a quiz night .purchased overpriced drink then we were informed you have 20 minutes to drink up and remove your self from your table for the quiz teams which was fair enough but was not told this when purchasing over priced drink.go to the nearby rose and crown pub bradford abbas a lot cheaper and better atmosphere.

Popped in for a drink with friends, sat at a table and nothing mentioned about a quiz night going on , just started on 2nd round of drinks to be told the table would be needed in half an hour for a quiz team , why wasn't this mentioned on our arrival ! ? , felt rushed to vacate & drink our overpriced drinks , unless your a local I wouldn't bother .

Wouldn't recommend this place.Found landlady very rude and unwelcoming. Staff looked miserable and not even a hello or good afternoon from any of them when we entered. Called in on the off chance to have a Sunday lunch as local to us. Chef and bar staff said it wasn't a problem so we bought drinks at sat down. Then heard the landlady having a go at the chef. The chef then came out to us and said sorry we have not enough food to give you!....not even the offer of anything except drinks though the place was practically empty near 1pm. I would recommend the Sun Inn near Charminster Dorchester. We drove straight there, got a warm welcome and excellent carvery straight away though the place was very busy.

During the Easter holidays, my friend and I were exploring the villages around Sherborne and ended up in Yetminster where we stopped at the White Hart for lunch. The atmosphere was so cosy and friendly, that it made us fell like home (while far away from home). While the pub was quite busy at the time, the service was and the food excellent. I ordered the burger (super succulent) and my friend the pie of the day. A nice place with a "real pub" feeling and smiley staff. Highly recommended!

Me and my wife visited early evening for a meal, pub was busy with lot of locals having a drink which is good. My meal was pie of the day with mash and veg, but a very poor meal, mash was out of a packet not very pleasant at all, some steamed cabbage and few slices of carrot with some very thin gravy. My wife was unimpressed with her meal as well. Generally hygiene needs attention, a dog sat on a bar stool sniffing around the counter and a member of staff stroking a dog and then serving at the bar is not good practice in my opinion.

We visited on the weekend of a friend’s wedding in the village. The pub was bright and welcoming and buzzing with the chat of the regulars. We’d been told by locals to get our food order in early but one drink led to a second and… you can guess what happened. We went outside to order our pizza and it had proved very popular! We went back in and asked where we might get something to eat but were told most places were shut now. We must have looked desperate as the landlady emerged with two packs of sandwiches and some cakes she’d bought for her staff. Exceptional service which saved the day. Highly recommended.

This is a really welcoming pub. The staff are super friendly - the chef popped out of the kitchen to check exactly what we'd like with a cheese sandwich I'd just ordered for my daughter. Lovely guy, great sandwich! The chunky chips were incredibly tasty. I had the vegan burger with sweet potato fried and that was great. I'd have given it 5 stars if there was more than one vegan option or any non-alcoholic beers - apparently there were 2% ABV option but kind of needs to be 0.5% to count as a non-alcoholic. Still, lovely place!

Absolutely shocking service from a young team headed by a middle aged lady who is the rudest woman I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting! Didn’t write down what we wanted,, didn’t give us all dessert menus to look at and rolled her eyes and walked off when we hadn’t decided what we wanted, tried to charge us for another tables drinks, asked us to leave as our table was taken when we were still eating, we are a local family of 12 celebrating 2 birthdays never again will I go there!

What a lovely experience. Joan and I with grandson Edward, down on the Jurassic Coast looking for fossils, successfully. The hotel was magnificent. Welcomed by a New Zealander, who couldn't do enough for us. Parking included, a bonus. The family room ultra comfortable. Dinner, choosing from the daily specials board, a revelation. The quality of the cooking, perfect. Breakfast can only be described by Edward, amazing. Fresh fruit with yoghurt, croissant, full English or other choice, fruit juice, tea, coffee or Edward's hot chocolate. Truly fantastic. All of the staff so attentive. Cannot say thank you enough.

We really enjoyed our last visit to Cerne Abbas back in 2021 and remembered visiting the Giant Inn - so it was so lovely to come back once again here (on our annual break in Purbeck) for pre-walk drinks. We arrived not long after the pub had opened & had a lovely friendly welcome - we decided to sit outside in the rear garden, & it was so nice to see the sun breaking through as we enjoyed our drinks. As with the whole village, this is a very historic building with lots of history, & I'm sure the 'giant' of Cerne Abbas would choose this as his watering hole if he could come down from that hill! We really enjoyed our visit which set us up for the day & put a spring in our step for our hike around the beautiful countryside surrounding the village. Thanks for making our visit so pleasurable!

The food at The Half Moon is basic pub food, but really good and well priced. The service was fast and efficient and the staff were pleasant and polite. The pub was quite quiet when we dined so the atmosphere wasn’t as buzzing as it often is but that did allow for easy conversation. All up it was a good visit and one we shall repeat. I recommend the Half Moon for price, quality and service.
