Absolutely shocking service from a young team headed by a middle aged lady who is the rudest woman I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting! Didn’t write down what we wanted,, didn’t give us all dessert menus to look at and rolled her eyes and walked off when we hadn’t decided what we wanted, tried to charge us for another tables drinks, asked us to leave as our table was taken when we were still eating, we are a local family of 12 celebrating 2 birthdays never again will I go there!

Excellent Sunday Carvery, twice visited now. The veg is perfect, not overdone & all very fresh. The staff are friendly & on the ball considering very busy. Great atmosphere, a true country pub. I called ahead to add another person to our group & mentioned we had a dog (bar only) when we arrived a dog bed was by our table for the dog! How great is that? Really impressed! They also gave left overs straight from the carvery to take home for the dog in a sealed container. Extra incredible service, take away Sunday dinner! They were flying out! Can’t take advantage as live too far away, but great for locals. The owner here has great foresight for business & runs a tight ship. Well done!

Lovely pub with food served in Bar and restaurant. Staff very friendly and food really good especially portion sizes . A word of warning if you order Cookie dough dessert have it to share as it’s huge and one of the few times I’ve only managed to eat half and had to send rest back as hubby already had his dessert and couldn’t eat any more!!!

Take away Sunday Lunch. Pipping hot delicious food. Kept hot in a tin foil dish. Seperate gravey pots. Top nosh!!

Having booked online and received confirmation the day before we were incredibly disappointed on our arrival to be told there was no table for us. Staff weren't overly helpful, just telling us that the online system allows you to reserve a table despite the restaurant being fully booked! More disappointing was when we were leaving someone approached the same member of staff, requested their table, showed their confirmation email and was ushered to their table straight away. When we challenged this the member of staff couldn't explain the difference. I would guess our table had been allocated to someone else and out of embarrassment the booking system was blamed. I would understand if we turned up late but we were ten minutes early. Safe to say we won't be returning.

Found this place by accident but went in had the carvery which was excellent and good value for money the guy serving was polite and friendly as were the staff if your in the area I'd recommend popping in and give it a try

The steak and ale pie is excellent. Guiness is very well served!

We went there Monday for a lunch before heading home. We were pleasantly surprised, dog friendly, which is always a plus. The also catered for my hubby who is dairy and gluten free. Very helpful. Food was freshly made and very tasty. Will definitely be back.

First time visiting The Turks Head 20/9/24 For the wake of a true and special friend. The staff were wonderful, the pub itself was spotless clean. Lovely old feel and lots of wood. This goes for the loos too, fresh and clean. They provided a cold buffet which was of good quality, some home made food, the coleslaw was thick, creamy and a fantastic taste. Highly recommend a visit if you are that way.

The chicken tikka was tasty and a fair size portion but a nice poppadom to accompany would of been nice, the sticky toffee pudding was lush, music was low, staff very friendly would recommend a visit

After previous visits, disgusted that our collection order was less than half full… the lasagne’s in this case, lacked in meat and based on previous less than half a portion, was only luke-warm. Another meal we had of gammon eggs and chips, fair portion but all was cold! Fish and chips, were chewy & again cold. Attempted calling The Turks Head to explain our disappointment however no one seeming to answer the phone tonight. We have supported this local for years, what a shame!

Staff were so helpful and chatty even though they were busy! Food was so good best steak and ale pie I have ever had and was handmade which is rare these days. Also dog friendly which was great. Thanks for great food and smiling staff ❤️

A lovely place for a great British roast dinner. All the food you could want washed down with beer or cider. Cheerful staff and a great atmosphere.

Disappointed, not as good as prevous vistis. Short on staff, so table was not ready, we had to ask for it to be cleaned, took ages for order to be taken and my food was luckwarm and over cooked, crumble was dreadful ! A real shame, felt sorry for the staff, who were doing there best.

Excellent food and although they had problems with lack of staff we had excellent service! One of our favourite places to have a meal.

Amazing food we all said this is the best cavern we have ever had. We ate on the 31st July 2024 chef was so nice cannot fault it. By the way I had a cheeky cocktail which was amazing too!

Sad that pub seemly had been left to 2 teenagers . Who were both excellent but under pressure to serve food cover the bar , clear tables hope they are being paid extra where was the BOSS food excellent.

Booked for Sunday carvery and was not disappointed. Plenty of meat and all the trimmings which was piping hot. Really enjoyed the meal, with a fine pint of Timothy Taylor's landlord.

The tables were left dirty, no after service ie comments about the quality of food. No service to the table for a choice of sweet or coffee. Staff more concerned about chatting at the bar than looking after the customers, absolutely bismill!

Ordered from set evening menu with drinks and sides. Had the fish cake and found a hair in my food mentioned to waitress reply "oh I'm sorry I will let them know" waitress didn't return I went up to the bar to pay my bill, I asked if she had mentioned it to the kitchen staff reply "I did" and that was it. Paid my full bill and Nothing further was done! Very disappointed tbh!! Something like this should be followed up further and some form of compensation!

Been there once before and had a lovely meal. But this time was rubbish, mains was good but the dessert was where it went down hill, lady took our dessert order as soon as she gave us the menu, us having no clue what we want all just start ordering anything, one asked for the server to come back in 5 minutes to continue our order, she did not return at all 3 desserts came out 10 minutes later we then ordered the final dessert but ended up not getting it. We waited over 20 minutes for one dessert, it had only just come out by the time we got up to pay and leave. Don't think we will be returning

Really grumpy rude guy serving meat at the carvery. His bad attitude ruined our lunch there.

First time going here and it will be the last. Who serves frozen potatoes on a carvery? The beef was over cooked and chewy. Veg was vile. Even had frozen swede. Over priced for fried frozen potatoes. The only good thing was the exit.

Came for a carvery on Sunday 2nd June. We were so impressed. Would go as far as to say best I’ve had. With that in mind we booked a table for tonight 5th June as it’s our anniversary. Arrived and the lady couldn’t find our booking. Seated us anyway. Went off to get menus. However she forgot. Eventually caught her eye ordered our meals. Came quite quickly. Absolutely delicious. Ordered dessert at 7.45. By 8.20 we gave up. Paid and left. Not good really is it?

Good food, Good Beer with excellent service

We came here for dinner whilst on holiday and were super impressed. The staff were so friendly and accommodating to families and we all enjoyed our food. In particular the shepherd's pie and the seabass special with crab mash. Would recommend a visit

We were staying at a nearby site and was recommended this pub by one of the staff. It did not disappoint. We had a lovely roast beef lunch with loads of vegetables! Very generous portions and with an extra jug of gravy. My husband was very happy and also because they had Timothy Taylor beer! The staff were very friendly especially the chap who served us. Well done the Turks head!

We (as a group) love this eatery so when we wanted to celebrate a birthday it was the go to.. I booked it a couple of weeks in advance.. Very disappointed when we were put in the bar area on mismatched tables of differing height, my chair was broken and one of our party who has mobility issues felt unable to use the w/c easily and left early... I challenged it and staff were lovely and explained other larger parties needed the proper dining area.. Had I been informed at booking that we would be in bar area I would have gone elsewhere, I have a fear of dogs and the bar area is dog friendly, thankfully no dogs were in.. Meal was awesome, staff lovely but it wasn't the surprise meal we had planned due to very very unsatisfactory seating x

A lovely carvery, very tasty. Staff attentive. Only thing I felt was a shame is the child’s carvery was going to be the same price as the adults. My son had to have something different from the children’s menu.

Our food was terrible,i ordered a stilton,garlic &mushroom burger,it had no stilton or garlic on it,also no skin on chips just normal,when i made a complaiant about it,the staff member said at first it was not on the menue,then he said they dont put stilton on as people dont lime it!!!unbelievable,my partner ordered a beacon and cheese buger and ask for extra cheese,huumm hardy any at all!!again really bad and again informed the staff member and they did nothing about it ..not every saying sorry,would never eat here again,not even to say we will replace it or add the cheese on both the burgers,bad and bad,relly upset about it as it was my partners birthday as well.DO NOT EAT HERE..NEVER.

Really nice pub, nice atmosphere. A good choice of menu, and nice to know that they do smaller portions on the lunchtime menu.

It's not the Ritz, but then it never tries to be. It's a country pub that knows it's customer. The food is better than much dearer places near by (moonfleet, looking at you). But the staff and service are great. They have connect 4 there too if you're going with the missus.

Just knocked 1 point off because I got the end of the beef joint and it was a bit chewy, and it woukd of been nice to have home made roast potatoes instead of frozen ones, other than that a pleasant Sunday lunch

We went for a mid week carvery at lunchtime. Lovely food, very tasty. Staff were v friendly and attentive. We sat in the bar as we ĥad dogs. Would recommend pre booking as it was busy for a lunchtime, this for me is a sign of a good pub being busy on a February lunchtime. 5 ☆

Went for Sunday carvery. Pre-booked so no problem getting a seat for 2. Good fast friendly service. Nice food in general apart from the beef which was over cooked and dry. Turkey and gammon fine. Vegetables had bite rather than being over cooked. Will go again.

We had a lovely meal here on our last day in the UK with all the family. Reasonably priced and good food.

Food was nice but we got there for New Year’s Eve despite our messenger booking it wasn’t written in the book so our table wasn’t ready. Unfortunately we left without puddings and more drinks as we couldn’t find any staff. On leaving and paying behind the bar we saw them all sat on a table in the corner having a drink

My meal was booked for 1230pm. I didn't receive it until 1345pm.

Celebrating grandsons 11th birthday with family, had plenty of choice if foods and there were no complaints from starters or mains. The lady who served us was showed interest, was very helpful and wished Daniel Happy birthday. All in all excellent

Brilliant. Opted for the carvery. 4 different meats to choose from. Massive selection of vegetables. Everything cooked well. First time of visiting but certainly will not be the last.

The meal was excellent…cannot fault it at all. My entire Group felt that the atmosphere created by some of the staff was far from welcoming. Sadly, meal 10/10 but customer service 3/10. Such a shame as it’s a great location.

We are regular dinners at the Turks Head, but on this occasion very disappointed with the prices to say the least. Love the Cottage Pie around £12.50 good price, but was told only had Shepherds Pie on menu £18.50 🤦‍♀️. Yes I understand lamb is a lot more expensive but really £18.50.😳😳

Just had the homemade steak and ale pie and the wife had roast pork and it was lovely, compliments to the Chief. The food, the pub and the service was of the highest standard, the young girl couldn't do enough for us. The locals are so lucky to have such an amazing pub/restaurant. Thanks

Another lovely experience at the Turks Inn Chickerell , food and service as always amazing ..it's a shame we have to travel from Portland to avoid disappointment...but the Turks Head makes an evening out well worth the effort.. I have other reviews of the Turks Head and as before would still highly recommend .

We visited today, with our two very large dogs, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We had the carvery, and it was delicious, and well priced. We will certainly be back when we next visit the are in our moterhome! The staff supplied extra food for our dogs, and I’m jealous, as it smells terrific!

From beginning to end, the service by jess was first class, the restaurant has chic decor, toilets clean, very reasonable prices, great kids menu, loads of parking, and dogs allowed in bar area. Went for the roast dinner, amazing, califlower cheese and extra gravy brought with the meals. I cannot fault our visit, kids dessert were amazing. Will definitely return when in Weymouth. Jess is an asset to the staff ,love friendly and confident.

This is an amazing cosy pub nestled just off the main weymouth highway in chickerell. Came for work but stayed to have my lunch here... The smell was so nice as it was being prepared, I couldn't help myself. The very friendly staff had everything well in hand preparing for the start of the mid week carvery... Very polite and professional This pub is Dog friendly with treats and beds for the dogs to use while on site 🐶🐾 The Turks head has huge range of wines on offer to suit all tastes... Aswell as all the usual tipples. Refurbished last year to a very high standard, very tastefully decorated and as usual I was privy to go behind the scenes... the kitchen was spotlessly clean and the multiple chefs were busy preparing a fantastic array of fresh food for the carvery deck. Really worth a visit if in the Weymouth area... I would highly recommend.

In Weymouth on holiday and we were told The Turks Head was worth a visit. Brother in law and his wife were with us and wow what a meal we had! The service was fantastic as was the food staff friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Best pub meal we have had for a very long time worthy of any restaurant. When next in Weymouth we will defo visit again, we’ll done The Turks Head!

Had roast beef, the best pub roast I've ever had! Vegetables included were swede, carrot, red cabbage, green cabbage, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes with tender beef slices, Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy! Very good value for money. Also, dog friendly too! Book a table as very popular pub.

Food was excellent service was quick and friendly. We didn't book so sat on the terrace as it was fully booked so next time we will ring ahead.

We are no strangers to Weymouth or the area of this establishment yet we had no knowledge of it until a recommendation from a family member . We tried calling prior to book a table but there was no answer so we decided to head over there as it’s not far from where we were staying. On arrival we asked for a table and the first the member of staff we met with was rather dismissive and told us they were fully booked and couldn’t possibly fit us in even though there were empty tables. I did explain we’d tried calling ahead but no none had responded. My wife again asked given it was half empty and another member of staff had a look at the bookings and found us table that we could have for a couple of hours which was more than enough time for us so we were seated and opted for the carvery . The meat , vegetables and gravy were all of very good quality and tasted absolutely delicious! They didn’t skimp on the portions like some places have previously dined at. While we were dinning the venue started to fill up and we also noted they offered a take away option which seemed to be very popular which also made us wonder why the first member of staff who wasn’t interested in accepting our custom did not at least offer this to us , further customer focused training required perhaps ! It was very reasonably priced when taking into account we also both had drinks with our meals . The venue itself was clean , tidy and had a great ambiance and from what could tell is a very old building which added to its charm. We’d happily dine there again and I’m willing to over look the rather dismissive attitude of the first staff member we encountered as the second one was the complete opposite in terms of their approach to customer service which I commented on before we left.
