A brilliant day learning the skills to make laminated dough for pastries such as croissant and pain au chocolates. Everything was explained really clearly by Steve and we had a lovely lunch tasting some of the shop made products. Lots of fun and well worth the time. Will definitely do one of the other courses soon. The final products were delicious if a little rustic but that skill will come with practice.

I went for a one day sourdough baking course at their original Victorian bakery in Alweston. Wow! I arrived early and had coffee and pastry in their little cafe. There was eight of us in the class, all amateur bakers but a beginner would have been able to keep up as Steve Oxford's instructions were easy to follow and he made it lots of fun. We baked three sourdough loaves, stopping for tea and delicious mince pies while the dough rested. Amazing how much we achieved that afternoon. We all left happy with a jar of sourdough starter and the bread we had made. I could hardly stop myself nibbling on it on the drive home. Thank you Steve, although I am a regular customer at Oxford's in Canford Ciffs, I will now be making more of my own bread.

Attended a sourdough course ran by Steve and it was great. He has tremendous knowledge and imparts it in such a fun way that we all enjoyed it.

Terrible steak pasty. Burnt and chewy, not very pleasant and over priced. Will not be going back. They really need some quality control as family members have had similar experiences

Maybe it’s time for a makeover? The entrance is dirty with spider webs and paint is peeling off the window frames. Internally the walls are dirty and the upholstery and cushions are stained. The staff are friendly and helpful and coffee is good according to my partner. The tea would be a lot better if I could actually get my finger through the handle. Maybe some nice teacups would be good? They’ve super cheap at the charity shops.

I bought a couple of pasties here to take home for lunch, one steak, one chicken, and they were both absolutely awful. My steak pastie had virtually no meat in it at all, just some onions and lentils smothered in pepper, and the pastry itself was undercooked and greasy. My wife's chicken pastie was equally as bad and she left virtually all of the pastry as she though it tasted and had a texture more like filo than short crust. Terrible quality and terrible value at about 4 pounds each. Since the old baker retired this place has gone steadily downhill, the steak pasties used to have actual pieces of steak in them and potatoes, now you get what amounts to a teaspoon of what might be mince.

I visited the Dorchester shop on Sunday afternoon and bought a goats cheese and pepper sandwich for lunch. I’m not sure when the sandwich had been prepared but the bread was dry and tough. I was unable to cut through the crust with the knife and fork provided. Very disappointing for something that cost nearly £5 and uncomfortable to try and eat. I gave up after a mouth full and left both the sandwich and the shop. I wouldn’t recommend sandwiches from this establishment.

First time going into Oxford’s but what a hidden gem, best coffee I’ve ever had, the young man made me my coffee too the letter. Been drinking coffee for over 20 years religiously and would definitely recommend this place, my only issue was the lack of glass in front of the food didn’t really want to eat something that anyone can touch. Non the less my hubby loved his Eccles cake.

Could not find the link to Dorchester's Oxford's Bakery which is found near the bottom of town on the pedestrian part! Lovely small bakers with a few seats outside. Very good flat white served by lovely staff. Croissants and coffee far superior than the chain on the corner.

We'd looked forward to buying bread from Oxford's Bakery in Sherborne...met all expectations. Delicious artisan wholemeal loaf, made perfect toast over the next couple of days. Good selection of breads and cakes, lovely staff, excellent value - very reasonably priced.

This bakery makes a great selection of breads, pastries, cakes & treats. Everything I have tried, has been excellent. The bread is particularly good. You will need a sweet tooth, for the Chocolate brownie & bakewell tart, which are full on sugar!

My husband loves this bakers, particularly the cakes. We went in to discover quite a few old tradional favourties that brought back childhood memories - Madelines or known to me as Lighthouses - these tasted better than I remembered. Hubby loves the huge Belgian Buns - these are a meal in themselves - big and tasty. Bread is also great and at a reasonable price for a large loaf. Located half way up Cheap Street past the Post Office on the left side if walking up. If you fancy something different than the supermarkets try here. Staff are also chatty and pleasant.

Traditional, old fashioned, classic bakehouse/tearoom. It does what it says on the tin! And the Eccles cakes are to die for.

I came to meet some friends for some drinks and thought it wise to leave my car in the car park rather than drive home after a few drinks. I came back to my car with a note threatening me to be clamped if I leave my car there again. Well no chance of that as I will not be spending my money in this s hole. What a way to promote drink driving and repeat business. Out of business by Christmas on that basis

What a lovely place. We were visiting our Auntie who lives in Puncknowle. She booked a table for us no wonder she loves it here. We were made welcome by Sue, who is the chef. The food she delivered was great. Lovely atmosphere really friendly. Highly recommend the Mediterranean Vegetable Tart. Yummy. Definitely will visit again. Well done Paul and Sue you have a great place thank you.

We stayed nearby and walked up the lane to the pub hoping for an evening meal, but it was all closed up and the garden was overgrown. Possibly it’s fallen victim to the lockdown? (The last review was February 2020.) It didn’t seem as if anyone was at home. A great shame for such an ancient establishment if it has gone to the wall. 😢

The room was dirty with mould and dust in the corners of the windows and on the blind in the bathroom. Water marks on the bath made it look like it hadn't been cleaned at all. The outer windows don't close at all and the inner secondary glazing is old, dirty and not sound proof - every noise from the road outside is heard clearly.
