The best restaurants in Stroud South West

Wow whoever is the Brummie working solo tonight providing Minchinhampton and its environs with freshly cooked fish and chips massive thank you - our meals were amazingly good - as good as it gets. Absolutely crispy batter, fresh cod and tasty potato, deep fried.CONGRATULATIONS

We enjoyed our Anniversary stay and meal at Hatton Court Hotel. All staff were polite, friendly and very efficient ensuring we had an enjoyable evening. The surroundings, atmosphere and ambiance were very pleasant. The menu had an excellent selection of food and wines to choose from, I enjoyed the crispy salt & pepper squid but in my opinion, after being served my ‘Bouillabaisse’ (fish stew!) I was underwhelmed, the lobster bisque was lacking flavour and missing the mussels (I didn’t initially realise there were none) the Sea Bass was very nice, but I did put in a late order of fries which arrived in no time at all. On the other hand my wife really enjoyed the Arancini, followed by Braised pulled beef feather blade. The bottle of Italian wine was very nice and paired well with the fish. We would not hesitate to eat here again, but my choice of mains would certainly be different.

Visited after seeing it on the Youtube channel 'Roaming the Cotswolds' and after a walk around the common. As the vid had been taken on a foggy day, I didn't expect a view with my pint. It's worth the visit alone. Only had drinks and snacks, but staff were great and everyone enjoyed the sunshine in the rear garden, while dogs and toddlers played around us.

We stayed in the lodge for two nights. Fabulous room nice and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. We loved the evening meals again lots of choice and very tasty. The best thing about this place was the friendly staff. Just up the road from Slimbridge I would recommend.

Took a while to arrive but was within time limit. Flavour was good but the main problem was it was cold, and the batter on the fish was soggy and only crispy on the ends. An expensive take away tea and not worth price which is a real shame

We were warm and comfortable on a cold day in December. The food was just amazing: I had belly pork with chive mash. Nice atmosphere and staff made us welcome.

Nice new decor ,great food , very friendly staff great with kids requests ,out the back a small secure play area and garden . Themed food nights we went Thursday and it’s steak night …delicious ,good beer selection Will definitely be back

I like that the Dinneys is very child friendly, kids can enjoy themselves as well as the adults, that's what a good village pub is about, the young community and the old creating a busy welcoming atmosphere. It's a nice change from the fousty city pubs and their patrons who seem to think kids shouldnt be seen or heard! Very helpful, polite and friendly.

This was the perfect place to stay in the Cotswalds. A quiet village, a lovely inn in a beautiful location. We chose to include breakfast, which was an excellent choice! Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff were attentive. We also had dinner here one night, and not only did it taste wonderful, being able to just come down from our room was a treat after a long day of exploring the local countryside.

Googled a pub around Stroud and came upon this one. Emailed to reserve a table and had a confirmation email back within an hour or so. A smiley lady behind the bar directed us to the restaurant. Greeted by a young lady who was very pleasant. 5 of us in our party including an 8 year old and an 11 year old. Ordered ciabatta, baguette, omelette and jacket potato. All of which was freshly prepared, well presented and good quality and arrived fairly swiftly. Husband had a pint of Butty Bach which seemed to go down well! There was a children's menu but our children preferred a baguette! Children's menu was fairly standard but mash on offer as well as chips. Will definitely return.

The food is exceptional here... We had the potato rosti with creamy mushrooms and the steak focaccia. Full flavours, tender and tasty, locally made fresh focaccia. Chef knows and loves what they're doing and the passion shines through! Generous portions without being too much; just perfect. The atmosphere is wonderful; warm rouge walls alive with art posters and a glowing log fire. Fantastic place, excellent service. Cannot fault it!

Had booked a table for 6 people for Saturday 4th March. Had confirmation email when booked as I queried the nenue option for gluten free items. We arrived just before the time our table was booked for only to find the place in darkness. It was closed. When I rang the number the call was immediately cut off. We had to go to sainsbury's for a curry. Not impressed and so disappointed. If this place ever opens again, avoid it.

Currently still waiting for food, been here almost 2 hours, need more staff or don’t accept as many tables when understaffed, kind regards
