We booked for dinner here tonight Saturday 30th March, based on the food reviews and they did not disappoint. The food was amazing, my husband had the soup and burger both of which he said were the best he had ever tasted. I had the cod and again cooked to perfection. Thank you for a lovely dinner.

As usual, this pub is the absolute epitome of every thing I dream a pub would be. Especially in a Cotswold village Amazing landlord, fantastic staff and the food is fantastic!!! A really great mix of people, from locals I know, through an expirenced gentleman cycling to a not so near village in the dark, to a music group in leathers who I had a great laugh and chat to... This is The Field Of Dreams, where all types of people, from all backgrounds, and all different rungs of the social ladder will gather, remember, come together for a laugh, cross perceived boundaries, banter and cajole , but will always help you leave happy and wanting to make the world a better place! I honestly cannot recommend this pub enough. It truly is a genuine traditional village pub, and by Jove, they do SO much to support the Village and the Church, the Fete etc... I drank in Mayfair and around Fleet St/ Royal Courts of Justice for many years, and I have to say, apart from all of us going to a service at St Bride's in Fleet Street ALL those year's ago for Diana's funeral.. an unforgettable period of time... this landlord, these staff, this pub... they remind me of this! FANTASTIC food, great landlord, great staff, great pub, great village. Special!

The Stirrup Cup is a wonderful little gem of the Stroud area and is definitely worth a visit. I went on a Wednesday evening with my wife and upon entering the pub we were warmly greeted by the member of staff on the bar. We had reserved in advance and were shown to our table in the window before being asked what we would like to drink. The landlord Julian (who is also the chef) came out to say hello and then we were given the menu to peruse. It was a nice surprise to be presented with a simple uncomplicated menu and as a vegetarian there was enough choice for me too. I had the halloumi burger and my wife had the ham and egg. The food came out in a timely manner and was lovely as were the desserts that we chose too (Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding). The decor of the pub is traditional and inviting and we had a lovely meal that was well cooked and presented. All in all this pub is a must visit it you're in the area.

Lovely well presented food. Definitely worth a visit and will return next time I am in Gloucestershire. Friendly locals and the staff were really kind and attentive even though they were very busy. We were indeed very happy with our food which was nutritious, well presented and cooked to perfection. Congratulations Team Stirrup Cup definitely my kind of pub. Very reasonable priced food and drinks for the area. Steak with all the trimmings, roast pork belly with creamed potatoes, roast carrots, Salmon, prawn and asparagus pie with a very generous portion of fresh veggies and beautiful buttery mash potatoes + 3 drinks for £50. Couldn't fault it. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We really wanted a Great British Pub Meal. And we'd been to this pub before and got exactly that on our past visit. This time it was really disappointing to be served 'freezer to fryer' fare - and pretty average fare at that. It was a nice pint - I had another (yes, the beer seems good) but there's not much positive to say about the food. Covid or not, this is poor. There was almost more staff than customers so that wasn't the problem. There's lots of other options in the area - folks will vote with their feet. I know we sadly won't be back.

The Stirrup Cup doesn’t pretend to be a gastropub- it is basically a decent pub offering a range of staple dishes and daily specials. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food at lunchtime perfectly adequate and well priced - and the beer is always very well kept. Do expect fine dining and you shouldn’t be disappointed. Expect Lunch with drinks to be £15 plus a head which is excellent value.

. . Esperamos un viaje de regreso pronto.

We were trying to find somewhere to eat on the way to visit family and found this winderful pub.One of the locals recommended the Sunday roast. This was an excellent choice! The great thing is they had the option of a smaller portion, perfect for smaller appetites. The food was beautifully presented and served with freshly cooked vegetables and a cauliflower cheese that was as good as my homemade perfectly cheesy and I would say a hint of colemans mustards! Delicious. Added to this it came with a piping hot jug of gravy, so often there is not enough when served in the meal. The staff were pleasant and friendly, I would highly recommrnd this lovely pub.

The service and food on the day was amazing, Julian and his team went out of their way to make sure everything was special and went to plan including decorating the room and providing complimentary Pimms and looking after all our requests. My family and I visited the Stirrup Cup today for Sunday lunch, when we arrived the pub was busy it had a great vibrant atmosphere, we were seated promptly and the waitress took our drinks order. My initial thought was that we would be in for a bit of a wait for food as it was clearly already very busy. The waitress was back after a short while and took our food order. We were with our 3 year old daughter and it wasn't a problem to have a child's size roast (this is not always the case in some pubs).Within 10-15minutes we were served 5 adult roast dinners and a child's. We had a massive bowl of veg, cauliflower cheese and loads of gravy. The waitress then told us that we could have more cauliflower cheese and veg if we would like it. It's a nice touch, in some restaurants it can be a little awkward to ask for more.I had the beef, it was divine, and the yorkie was a proper homemade delight. The rest of my family also raved about the quality of the meal, great value at £12.Do yourself a favour, get along to this little Cotswold gem of a place. I will definitely be paying another visit.

Dropped in on a recce prior to arranging big annual walk/lunch with old London friends. We had used the Stirrup Cup before when it had been run by the excellent host Phil?..now at the Butchers Arms in Oakridge, I gather....so had high hopes we could bring our friends here again after a suitable hike up the Toadsmoor Valley.Well....we probably won't, sadly. Nothing especially wrong, just a few niggles: The squid we had wasn't crispy in it's panko batter, despite it being very quiet and kitchen therefore under no pressure, (very small portion too), and there was a rather annoying and distracting amount of piped music played just a little bit too loud.Would certainly give it another try in the future as it looks really nice and the food was not bad bearing in mind we only tried one starter...but I really don't expect to go to a country pub and have to listen to Coldplay or similar if I don't want to...it's simply not the right environment. Asked for it to be turned down in my area but they turned it up!

Went with a friend for dinner. Very pleasant and clean country put that's been given a freshen up. Tables were booked up but they accommodated us in the bar area. Menu choice was good. Shared a starter and I had Ox Cheek which was absolutely delicious and beautifully soft. My friend had the risotto and said it was fine. We had 2 desserts which the owners wife makes and they were really good-sticky toffee and a Pannacotta. All portions were substantial. Would happily go back. Really nice staff too.

A number of our local pubs have changed hands recently with varied results, so it was a pleasure to visit the Stirrup Cup last week to find a cosy pub with welcoming hosts and a really promising menu. We ate liver and bacon with a bubble and squeak cake and slow cooked ox cheek with horseradish mash: both delicious and very substantial. It was hard to choose, so we'll be back soon to sample more. Good luck to the new owners!

We had heard a new young couple had taken on the stirrup cup. So we gave it a visit and the food and staff were spot on. Would recommend to other people to try. Even for a drink. Think with a little hard work the new couple will make a go of the stirrup cup. Now knowing family own the falcon at painswick will give that a visit soon

Sunday lunch was perfect..especially port crackling and cauliflower cheeseNot all opened yet and decor a bit stark, but only been under this management for a month....As long as food stays this good and with Lucy's energy and imagination I'm sure this is going to be a great success

We had a lovely meal last night. Delicious Butternet Squash Risotto, tasty gammon with creamy cauliflower cheese and two superb fish pies. Quantities were ample and service friendly. Charlie and Lucy have made it a very welcoming place.

We had heard that Charlie & Lucy had recently taken over the Stirrup Cup and just knew that it would be worth a visit. Having used the Falcon in Painswick many times, (Which their family also own), we were not disappointed to see that the same style and customer service has come to Bisley. Only after their first full week of trading the pub was buzzing with diners, locals calling in for a quick pint and walkers enjoying a coffee. Having booked a table we took the dog for a lovely circular walk along the valley to return to a gorgeous Sunday roast, which left me full to bursting. One of our party had the butternut squash risotto, which was well presented and very tasty. My wife had the chicken pie which was packed with meat and lovely. We opted for puddings which in turn were also delightful. The menu was varied and the ingredients locally sourced. We will certainly be returning to sample the evening menu. You can just see that Lucy & Charlie have got it right.

Welcomed by friendly new landlords and a roaring log fire. Food was beautifully presented and the service was excellent! Great place for morning coffee and cake, lunch and a walk, or equally good for an evening meal by the fire. Have now been for lunch and an evening meal on separate occasions, and will definitely be returning!

I have a vague and distant memory of this having been a lovely cosy country pub once upon a time - all that has been ripped out now leaving a stark, barren place lacking any comfort and an atmosphere I can only describe as awkward. Maybe that's why it was empty at peak Sunday lunch eating time. This is a shame as the owners clearly mean well and try very hard. The roast dinners we had were tasty and really nicely presented, but the portions were surprisingly small. We didn't feel like prolonging our stay with dessert.Neither of us could get through the impenetrable wifi signup procedure.

Found this pub by complete accident when following re-direction signs on our way between Cirencester and Brockworth. What a lucky pair we are! The food we have enjoyed there is absolutely delicious. George has excelled himself making us feel completely at home and serving us with restaurant quality food at pub prices. I am vegetarian and don't often get such lovely tasty food in local pubs. We have returned there a couple of times now and have not been disappointed. Just wish it was a teensy weensy bit closer to home! Thank you George.

Upon entry of the "Stirrup Cup" we was met with a warm welcome by the owner. I had a pint of bitter, "The Stroud" which was nice. That was where it ended!!! I ordered the chicken breast and it was embarrassing!! The breast was tiny, I had 2 cauliflower florets, 4 French beans, 3 tiny roast potatoes, and 2 shavings of a carrot!!! To boot it was £11.90!!!!! I would have been embarrassed to have served it to a child!!!! The gravy that came with it was like dishwater, and after I nearly ate all of the breast, blood was coming out of it!!! The family members I was with were embarrassed for me as I was the biggest person there and my meal was so pathetic!!! My wife even joked that I should have picked something else!! I would have done but the menu was pathetic also. You had a limited choice of:28 day mature beefCodPork bellyNut RoastOr the pigeon (aka Chicken)I feel this restaurant wont be open for long as they don't give value for money, the portion sizes are laughable, and upon evidence it was dead. Other than us four there was two other couples in there. If the "Stirrup Cup" was any good wouldn't half of Bisley be in there having they're Sunday dinner!!!! I have been to Bisley a couple of times to visit family, and I envisage many many more visits, however, I will never pay this restaurant a visit ever ever again!!!

Our second visit for lunch, cheerful and helpful staff who always make you feel welcome. Plenty of choice on the menu, very reasonably priced and generous portion sizes. If you are looking for traditional food, value for money in a homely venue then this is the place for you. Looking forward to our next visit.
