I had a birthday meal with my family here once, the food was good and I had a nice time.

Lovely restaurant with great friendly staff

We were on a tour towards Wales in the motorhome. After we asked nicely, we were allowed to stand in the parking lot for one night. Of course we stopped in too! Everyone was very friendly and nice! There is no reason to complain

The food is fabulous, service is great, and the only complaint I have is the service charge ,I like to tip and do but I don't agree with being forced to tip ..this could have an effect on people going which would be a shame as the food is excellent

Met friends for lunch. Nice enough but don't cater well for vegans - only one light bites option, burger and fries which was OK, no non-dairy milk and their coffee is instant not fresh

Went for a meal with friends and paid £15 for a poor quality lasagna (was a small portion, had melted cheddar cheese on top and no bechamel sauce.) Told it came with chips, it didn't. Coffee machine broken, as I think was the heating as the place was freezing! Friend paid £8 for a large glass of wine, not got an issues there, but the £1.50 to top her wine glass up with a squirt of soda, making the cost of the drink £1.50 is criminal. Not going back there in a hurry.

I only went for a Sunday roast with friends it was busy the service was not bad we only had to wait about 20 minutes for our roast and it was good l have been here before about 3/4 times l would go back

Fabulous meal, got exactly what we asked for. Good solid excellent filling meal at a reasonable price, fabulous service from Louise, Sarah and team. Well worth a visit. Shame about the feral child but beyond their control

My family and I booked three rooms stayed for a weekend for a local wedding. No complaints at all. For the price The Whitminster Inn is very good. Good quality breakfast very good in house restaurants great food and service. towels bedding first class would certainly rebook for next visit to family. Staff member Sarah most cheerful kind and considerate.

Just what was needed to treat my friend for her birthday. Top marks for the table service, the lady was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food available. I had the prawn frittata, it was enormous, freshly cooked and arrived steaming hot on a skillet with a plate that contained wraps, grated cheese, soured cream, guacamole and an extremely tasty salsa. 10/10 My friend had an 8oz burger which she devoured. There was a warm, jovial atmosphere. With a fair few people either at the bar or eating. The music was great too. We shall most definitely be revisiting and recommending to our friends and families

Having written a review before about this restaurant after an evening meal, we have become regulars for Sunday Lunch. The offering is delightful, good vegetables, Yorkshire Pudding and the Lamb and Beef all cooked to perfection. The service is great with Louise the boss and Sarah her number one, always on duty serving along side their well trained staff. We will continue frequenting this establishment, booking is advisable as it is always very busy. Cheers George Irvine.

We found ourselves needing to eat out at short notice before a gig in Bristol. After failing to get a table booked at 4 places, we tried The Whitminster on the way. We were very pleased we did. Staff were lovely. The restaurant was warm and spacious and the food was excellent. I had vegetable fajitas, beautifully presented with all the dips and cheese, lovely warm, slightly crispy tortillas and a healthy sized portion of sizzling vegetables - excellent! My husband had ham, egg and chips, which looked lovely (especially the chips) and he really enjoyed his meal too. For the 2 meals and 2 drinks, the bill was £33, which we thought was good value. Would highly recommend.

Very good roast which was freshly cooked, piping hot and a good size. Service was great too. My partner had the burger which he said was very nice too.

Visited here for the first time for Dinner, the venue is large and friendly and popular. Food was nice and staff were good. The venue has within it an Indian and Chinese restaurant with take away Pizza and Fish Chip Shop outside of it, so quite a selection within the complex Plenty of Parking, Whitminster Inn is close to J13 of M5 Motorway so easy to get to.

Fantastic meal for group of 8, really enjoyed the duck special, lovely food, great service, good selection of wine (great South African Merlot) definitely worth a visit.

Visited here recently for a birthday meal. Highly recommend the steak. King prawn linguine was ok but seemed to have a few normal prawns with no king prawns present. It was well presented but was not particularly flavoursome. The pan roasted lamb rump was disappointing, more of a roast. The “rosemary jus” was gravy, and the “potato dauphinoise” was replaced with roasted new potatoes. If I returned again I think the steak or perhaps the pie would be the safe choice.

We had the best Sunday lunch yesterday I have ever had it was awesome. Large portions all home cooked fresh veg great roast potatoes parsnips cauliflower cheese fantastic gravy. I am really fussy and I loved it !

We went here while staying at a nearby campsite and to celebrate our anniversary, as well as my mum's birthday. It's a fantastic place; more like a complex. There are 3 separate restaurants on the site - Indian, Chinese and a pub restaurant. We dined in the latter. There are also 2 takeaway outlets at the front. We were really impressed with the set up. The place is spacious and airy and all the Covid measures looked to be in place. The food was excellent. A couple of us, myself included, had the fish option from the specials board. It was stunning. I would definitely recommend giving this place a go.

We have just attended a wedding here and stayed the night. Everything was brill. The staff are the friendliest I have ever experienced. They catered to everyone and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fabulous and the room was clean. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Ordered a takeaway from the Indian Garden for the first time. After recent poor experinces from a couple of other restaurants, I din't know what to expect.I ordered several dishes and so far have only tried the Chicken Jalfrezi. I wasn't disappointed, a flavoursome dish with a good kick. I can't wait to try my Nawabi Chiken tomorrow. I'm so glad I tried this takeaway, friendly with excellent food, exactly what you'd expect from a good curry.

Visitamos para tomar una copa por primera vez el sábado. Era muy ruidoso con los bebedores jóvenes. Decidimos irnos y tomar un chino para llevar, que fue excelente, puedo agregar. Mientras esperábamos por nuestra comida, notamos un flujo constante de chicos entrando y saliendo del pub hacia un vehículo donde estaba ocurriendo un claro abuso de sustancias a plena luz del día. Realmente no sé cómo la gerencia no pudo haberlo notado. Si revisa sus cámaras, es avión para ver. No volveré y he informado a la Policía.

Nos detuvimos para una comida para llevar cuando estábamos pasando, servicio rápido, comida caliente y sabrosa excelente relación calidad-precio, tuve la hamburguesa de bistec que venía con excelentes encurtidos y ensalada de col casera y patatas fritas. La esposa tenía el pollo frito sureño, buenas porciones calientes y sabrosas. Volveré de nuevo.

We had a very tasty meal with friendly service. The restaurant looks good after refurbishment. It was only let down by the loud TV on at the bar which was easily heard in the restaurant. Will be visiting again for a meal though.

El lunes 3 de febrero, 10 de nosotros nos reunimos para almorzar en el pub Whitminster. El comedor ha sido reformado y abierto con nuevas mesas y sillas.Todo el ambiente es muy agradable, limpio y brillante.Nos dieron la bienvenida y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa, tomamos pedidos de bebidas y repartimos menús. La comida era excelente, muy caliente y bien presentada. Tuve el bacalao y las papas fritas seguido de pudín de caramelo pegajoso, que estaba preparado y presentado muy bien, como cada comida en la mesa. Lo único que comentaría negativamente es que parecía haber solo una comida vegetariana en el menú principal, que era halloumi. En general, una experiencia muy agradable.

Went into the pub after a lovely meal at the Indian Garden. The staff were rude and unhelpful. The atmosphere was like something off the league of gentlemen and we were made to feel very uncomfortable with staff talking about us at the bar. We were told the pub was closing at 10.30 despite it being a Saturday and there still being customers in the pub and a group of 11 of us walking in. One of our party asked for coffee and was told a NO very abruptly! As a member of the local community this is my local pub and myself and family used to regularly visit but after our visit tonight I will be travelling further afield in future where I will be welcomed and my custom appreciated!! Such a shame that a once popular village pub has become mismanaged and selective of its customers.

Just had a really good Sunday lunch with huge yorkshire puddings. Could not fault at all . Really hot and plenty of beef and vegetables. Staff all very friendly . Busy even for 4pm.

Have eaten here on several occasional and food is always superb. Sunday Lunch is especially good with a choice of meats and large portions, would highly recommend. Friendly staff and always welcoming.

If I could rate the response I received a minus I would. I’m truly disgusted that I phoned the premises to ask a viable question about the machines in the toilets and the lady hung up on me!!!!

Las reservaciones para grupos grandes los sábados, las especialidades diarias eran chuletas de cordero duras que no se podían comer, las comidas idénticas se facturaban a diferentes precios, el pollo frito del sur no tenía sabor, ¡la masa dejaba mucho que desear! Para ser honesto realmente no puedo encontrar un positivo. Nadie vino a preguntar si nuestra comida estaba bien, así que tuvimos que buscar personal. No regresaria

We had Xmas lunch this year and food was plentiful and very tasty. Staff were all very helpful and atmosphere was very good. Would recommend a visit.

We visited Saturday evening early and booked a table as we were not sure if it would be busy. It did fill up about an hour later. We ordered four different dishes. One had a very tough rump steak and was not charged for. The other meals were fine - especially the fish and chips. Three desserts ordered and I ordered lemon possett. Whatever was delivered was some sort of caramel thing and not what I ordered. They were very obliging but not as we would have liked it.

Sunday dinner for my Brothers birthday I must admit I didn't think it looked much from outside. But inside and it was different. Service was spot on. Draught Orchard cider was excellent. The roast was delicious with plenty of it. Could have had more pots of cauliflower cheese 5 between 11 roasts. 2 had Fish and chips my wife mentioned the chips seemed as if they were reheated. But they did have Orchard cider on draught. I suspect we will be back.

We stayed here for 1 night after attending a wedding and reception 12 miles away.

We arrived on a Wednesday steak specials night and the £10 rump steak with all the trimmings was delicious and very popular with other customers. The pub restaurant had a good ambiance and friendly staff. This is only part of a much larger complex on this site with Chinese and Indian restaurants to the rear and an events building further into the very large car park. Diversity seems to be the word here. The owner was very friendly and helped us find the best spot to park our motorhome overnight. A good find for us not far from the M5 and one we’d use next time we travel this way.

Absolutely rediculous, booked a family meal to then have hardly no service, food orders was missing not all the food that was ordered come out , then the waiter dropped honey sauce all down the back of 4 people along the row ! Which went into my hair , and has resulted in brushing it out and it’s snapped it , I’ve now seen after trying to wash my top it’s stained it ! the service was poor, was told that the manager would come and speak to us about it and then was told he was busy and they would take £20 off the bill! Little did I realise that my hair would snap 4 tips were ruined AND half of our guests food wasn’t even brought out! Such a shame as we go there a lot! Unfortunately now our custom will be going elsewhere!

My wife, son and I ordered three meals to take away. The place was run down, needs redecorating, all tables needed clearing and relaying, floor dirty. There were about 12 customers in the place.

I was chatting to pleasant group of I think around 20 year olds, they were acting just like everyone else yet were asked to leave after one of the staff spoke to them so rudely.

Where to start. This is a place for just locals really, newcomers aren’t welcome, we were stared at and people kept looking at us, maybe we sat in seats that are usually taken. The manager Mick is so rude and spoke badly of us to his staff and people stood at the bar which is not on, especially as we could hear him.

We went to an event here and had to pay £10 for a pitiful meal, they got the orders wrong and when the baked cheese dish arrived it was woefully inadequate. We asked for a side salad and more toast for which we were charged extra. I was appalled as we were a party of 40, buying drinks as well as paying over £400 for inadequate food and service. Needless to say we won't be booking here again.

I've enjoyed every visit I have paid to the Whitminster Inn. Lovely Chinese food. Good for vegetarians, the Jil Yan Sweetcorn is beautiful!

We were welcomed with the traditional Chinese celebration at 12 noon with the traditional Chinese drums and dragon display to celebrate their New Year.

We went to the Whitminster Inn for lunch today, It was for my daughters birthday meal and I cannot praise it enough. There was twenty of us including five children, we all had a roast lunch and it was just brilliant. Staff was pleasant and we will certainly go back again. Thank you

Went to the Chinese restaurant at the Whitminster Inn for my wife's birthday with the family on Saturday. It was very busy so you need to book a table. It is a one price menu, all you can eat for £19-95p. All the food is...

We popped by for Saturday lunch and noticed it had changed hands. SUPER impressed by our meal, steak was perfectly done and the chunky chips were ace, and the sauce was freshly made! The other meal we had was the pie (turkey and pork) which was delicious with seasonal veg (roasted carrots and parsnips). Very friendly and attentive waitress served us. Drinks were bargain. Nice cosy atmosphere. We were very happy with the meal. Total was under £25. If you want a great meal for a bargain pop in here.

We live pretty close to this restaurant and have always counted on it as a place for excellent steaks and fantastic fish and chips (restaurant, not takeaway). Fancied a steak last night so we went there. Something was different straightaway - waited for over five minutes for someone to come and talk to us and show us to a table. Always used to be that the bartender would notice if someone was waiting and if waiting staff were busy would help with seating guests. Eventually we got noticed and shown to a table. The menu has shrunk to half the size in number of dishes offered. I loved the sound of bubble and squeak with breaded poached egg and crispy pancetta. I love pancetta. Husband ordered smoked salmon for starter. When they arrived he reckoned it was smoked trout not salmon and my pancetta had been replaced with a few bits of soft bacon. Bubble and squeak had carrot in it?? Very disappointed and told the server who offered a free drink. She said the chef had to improvise because they didn't have any pancetta. In that case I should have been told when I ordered it because I definitely wouldn't have ordered it if it was bacon. Wasted £6.50. We asked for the wine list to be told it had gone missing. There was only one copy? We also ordered two rump steaks - both were tough, mine particularly so. Husband said chips tasted like the oil hadn't been changed for a long time. Chips used to be amazing at The Whitminster. Beautiful crispy hand cut ones. By this time we decided not to complain and just not come again. This was a completely different place. The furniture was the same but the atmosphere was so different. So much so that we looked it up on Trip Advisor when we got back to see if it had changed hands and sure enough it has. All is explained. Don't bother with it unless the reviews start to change and show that the new owners have got their act together.

Very pleased with all the communications prior to the stay. Staff sensitive and attentive throughout. Requests for food were addressed and all was good. Plenty of room for about 80 people. Rooms comfortable - lovely crisp white sheets!

Visited for yet another birthday celebration but although food was good the wine list was crap. Ended up with an insipid bottle of Chilean red which I wouldn't even use to cook with. Then came the bill.- no overall complaint but THE NEW MANAGEMENT refused to acknowledge the loyalty card of the previous owner which meant I lost over £7 credit. Cheap gesture so that's our last visit. And by the way this part of the "Whitminster Inn family" is independent of the the other franchises - India and Chinese Gardens etc - which we shall still use.

We have been coming to this venue for years - 25 of us usually last Sunday in November and always enjoyed our lunch. Today was a very unwelcoming and disappointing experience. We were not given menus, just served up semi warm main course of turkey roast for everyone! No offer of a starter either. The meal was warm at best - the waiter said turkey for everyone had been pre- ordered - definitely not the case but did not want to make a fuss. A standard menu eventually arrived to order deserts. So it was not a set meal at all. If ordering cheese and biscuits specify how many slices of cheese you want as you will be charged by the slice. I won’t be back and expect we will seek a new venue in the future.

Visited with family for special birthday meal. Food excellent, and catered well for Dad who is gluten free. Service excellent ++. We come back time and time again.

Our first visit and we will definitely be returning. The restaurant was comfortable, well laid out and although next to a main road you couldn’t hear the traffic.

A shame as this was a personal recommendation for a birthday lunch. First impressions were great, but we learned much later that they were down to one chef. (We saw a cheffy looking guy disappear in his car for 20 mins ....,) That said we were the only ones there when we arrived so a table of 3 should not have over taxed them. Pie of the day was OK, but 1 of 3 sausages in Bangers and Mash was just too pink, and onion gravy made with jarred sweetened onions. Confit duck leg too fatty to have been cooked low and slow. We should have stopped there but decided to have puds. Having to go searching for a waitress should have been a clue, and we nearly walked out 20 mins later when again I had to go searching. To be fair they knocked the puds off the bill, which avoided a clash as Plum Crumbles were very very disappointing. This is one of 3 restaurants at this venue so hope my friend's recommendation was meant point me towards the Chinese or Indian offerings.

Last night we went to the Fromebridge Mill just down the road, and had to send our steaks back twice before leaving without paying, on our disappointed drive home we decided to give the Whitminster Inn a try and was welcomed by a lovely young man called Jack. He waited on us hand and foot and it would be fair to say he gave us outstanding service.We ordered a steak which was perfectly cooked and one of the best I have ever eaten, the chef even catered to our needs and swapped the chips for an incredible mash which was perfect.I will definitely be returning for food and drinks very soon and would recommend it to anyone after our great experience.

We visited the hotel yesterday for Sunday lunch having previously had really nice carvery meals there, and found that it is no longer a carvery which was disappointing. We were not the only people complaining about the food. The only thing I enjoyed was the pork crackling which was delicious, the meat was tough, the vegetables were undercooked, the roast potatoes and gravy were very greasy which I am sorry to say does not suit my stomach! It was not very hot either. The manager was very pleasant and at first offered us a free dessert, which we declined, but to be fair he did only charge us for one meal. I thanked him and told him we would not be eating there again. Such a shame as it used to be so nice. This is a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".....!

We had eaten here last year on the Sunday carvery and were impressed with the quality, including plenty of really well cooked (not overcooked) fresh vegetables. We tried the China Garden today and it's a great formula - all you can eat, but fresh cooked not buffet and ordered a bit at a time so you're not over-faced and don't take more than you'll eat. Plus of course it all comes out hot and cooked to order. Good tasty Chinese food.

One of the best Chinese meals I have had in a long time, you get a starter( an excellent menu) a main course( very varied choice) for £9.50 + for an extra £1 you can choose a pudding or a hot drink, I would highly recommend a lunch time visit.

Have previously been to the restaurant with friends and had a good meal. Visited on Sunday again and their performance was poor. New Management had removed the Carvery option, and meals were severed on plates arrived cold. Staff tried very hard to improve the experience but appeared not to be fully supported by the management.

Overpriced for fish & chips take away... the portion of chips for £2 is very poor value for money and everything seemed expensive compared to other local take aways. Quality did not justify the cost

We were a table of 9 and went to the Indian garden on Friday 19 may 2017. Food was excellent, lots of it and tasted lovely. The service was also excellent, very attentive staff who couldn't do enough for us. One of the best Indians I've had and would thoroughly recommend it!

We ate a Carvery at Whitminster Inn today. The staff were very friendly and the quantity of food was generous but it was tasteless. Very disappointing.

Thanks for our massive fish, sausage and chips take-away order on the bank holiday weekend for 35 people when we were staying locally; very well organised, right on time and tasty (including lots of salt, vinegar and ketchup!)

My Son, Daughter-in-law, Husban and I went to the Whitminster Inn on a busy Friday eve. Our waitress nickname "Trevor" was lovely. Very friendly, informative and efficiant. The food was hot and very tasty all round and the four of us were very happy with our choices. The fish Chef came out to talk to people afterwards and was open to putting our ideas on the menu. We had a great eve and plan to return next Saturday.

Had a Chinese takeaway meal last night and it will be the last! Apart from tasting like an overlooked microwaved meal, the texture was soggy, one dish was so salty it made my wife and I feeling ill. I wouldn't recommend it and it's definetly not worth the high price.

Stopped here to get a takeaway on the way back from a long journey. We ordered but weren't told there was an exceptionally long wait for food , 3 more people placed orders after us and after we'd watched all 3 walk out with their food we asked where ours was. ( wondering if they'd missed our order as it was so busy) It came out shortly after but wasn't right (clearly had been missed then rushed) we waited 10 more minutes , then on arrival home discovered the order which the guy checked in front of us was wrong and even had a dish missing. Most of what we did have was cold.Eventually We were told we could have a refund for the missing and wrong dish if we go back!! I virtually had to tell them they had to do that though! If they can't cope they shouldn't keep taking orders, really bad management.

Three of the meals ordered with no peas,but came with them anyway,ordered a side salad,all it consisted of was a lot of the same greenery and half a tomato,not what I call a salad,having spent nearly £200 on mains asked for the dessert menu and were told the kitchen was closed,at 5 to 9! made a fuss and the menu was brought out,but three of the dishes were not available and not much else to choose from.

Friendly, good options of food, taxis quick to collect. I recommend the Chinese yuk sung! There is a fish and chip place, Indian and traditional british pub grub. All to a good standard.

As a local to the Whitminster Inn, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Arguably one of the best traditional English pub restaurants in the county. It's nice to not have the noise of a pub but the style of the same setting. With comfortable seating and fresh seasonal flowers on the table you feel right at home. The menu choice is brilliant and so well priced for the quality (genuinely it's amazing value). One of the greatest pleasures of the restaurant are the staff, and in particular the Manageress Louise who always recommends the freshest dishes of the day, service is always with a smile and cannot do enough for you, remembering a customers face is a massive attribute to her and some of the other staff. Nothing is too much trouble and this is why so many frequent this brilliant restaurant. Keep it up guys, here's to many more meals.

We found this restaurant on a Motorhome phone App. Called in advance to confirm if it was ok for us to stay overnight and to reserve a table for an evening meal.Oh my life what a gem of a find.There are 3 places to choose to dine, Chinese, Indian and an amazing Gastro dining restaurant. The staff are so attentative and helpful from the moment you check in. All the members of staff from the waitressess, bar tenders and memebers of the management team, went out of their way to make sure all the customers were happy with everthing. We ate in the Gastro part of the establishment. The food is amazing ....which is such an understatement to be fair. If only we lived closer as I know this would definitely become a regular place for us to visit. We will make sure we call again each time we are in this part of the country.

Had a small wedding ceremony at the Whitminster Inn . Very professionaly handled by all staff especially Claire. Made the occasion very smooth and trouble free. Thank you

Hired this place to deliver a training course, the facilities are good, the staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic. This location has so much to offer with free parking, easy access from the motorway. It has on its location a Chinese and Indian restaurant with a restaurant serving good wholesome pub food.A must place to visit for a great meal and very accommodating staff.

Poor menu choice compared to previous visits, puddings especially poor. Seasonable crumble consisted of tin pears and tinned custard, cheese cake obviously shop bought so much for 'their excellent chef' - see web page! Main OK nothing to write home about pricey for what was served up.

Hotel has had a make over since last visit which is very good. Popped in for a drink and sat in a lovely lounge area with a wood burning fire. Guy behind the bar very friendly and knowledgeable about wine. Both owners were there and very friendly. Didn't eat this time but good has always been very good.

Went to the whitminster on Saturday night for our xmas party and I can say it was a lovely evening! The food was brilliant and the service even better! The food was brought out promptly and the staff were all very organised and efficient! Especially for the huge number of people that were there! Lovely atmosphere will definitely be going back next year

We have been here many times and never had a problem you pay a set price per head and just keep ordering off the menu it will be cooked fresh to order very helpful staff anything you want just ask if they can do it the will

Visited the establishment last night. Fantastic we were made to feel like Royalty everyone was greeted on arrival. Food was excellent cooked to perfection staff very friendly everyone enjoyed it. Sure we will be back again. The Party was for some tenants of Stroud District Council.Thank you Claire and all Staff.Pat Eagle

Well I wrote a very poor review on hear a little while ago but we did try again and everything was perfect. But today we arrived with 3 people behind the br one man on his phone I found a table my Husband ordered the drinks. Sat down and a very nice your lady gave us the Menu for which we choose we sat there and sat there until my Husband went back to the Bar to see where our drink were O yes they are just coming they still never arrived the some 15 mins later along came our starter as she put it on the table our Mains were served by another person as she put them on the table our drinks appeared so within the space of 2/3 mins we had everything such a poor state of affairs. May I say the young lady that took out order said she ordered the starters first. I spoke to the Owner/Manager and all I got was sorry as there was no one over 18 to serve our drinks she was behind the bar when we arrived also the man on the phone. There was no one waiting to be served so really its just VERY BAD MANAGEMENT even if you are busy you should a least serve the drinks I think they have lost our Custom and we certainly let others know Nothing like word of mouth. The only positive note was the food was good just not served in the right order

Food poor, dry bread, not enough filling and gone off cream what more can I say. Staff not apologetic. Won't be going again!
