The best restaurants in South Somerset South West

Really disappointing! My family and I took my 87 year old mum here for a Mother’s Day treat!!!! When shown to our table we were told someone would come back to take our drinks order. However after waiting for 25 minutes and feeling rather thirsty my daughter decided to go to the bar to order. We then waited for ages to order food but eventually I actually had to ask a waiter to take our order (by this time we were hungry and tired of waiting). An hour later our food arrived but quite honestly I wish they hadn’t bothered!! Cold cabbage, tough meat, soggy Yorkshire puddings, raw broccoli…….. We won’t be returning!

Attempted to go here twice but both times they were closed even though it says open online. Dissapointed

Since this venue opened 10 years ago we have traveled the 45 miles from our home at least twice a year. Last Friday evening was the first time we had been back since the major alterations to the layout, splitting the dining area into two quite distinct restaurants. The Roth Bar & Grill has been relocated to a barn area with the bar stuck in the middle thus dividing the area in two. The whole room was dark with uninspiring drab furniture and totally soul-less. Before the "transformation" booking a table at weekends was a must, now, we were the only ones dining there for most of the evening which speaks volumes. I should point out that our food was good although rather expensive for what it was and the staff, who outnumbered us 2:1, were very pleasant. The whole thing is a total disaster and unfortunately it doesn't stop there. The area previously occupied by the Roth Bar & Grill is now an Italian / English restaurant. Gone is the open kitchen and grill area, gone is the lovely quirky bar that you walked through to the seating area and in it's place is a much larger dining area, tables with white table cloths in place of the more rustic furniture, and an absence of character. I noted that only about half the tables were taken. Separating the two restaurants is the old entrance lobby, now just a large empty space save for the books lining the walls. Previously this contained the reception area and book shop and a meat curing room, glass walled and lined on three sides by large salt bricks with whole sides of beef hung, now it is just a wide empty corridor giving access to the two restaurants, the gardens and toilets. Both my wife and I have had a life time in internal and external design, I do not ever recall seeing something of such character totally destroyed by someone with little or no talent. Frankly, it makes me very angry. Yes, it could have been altered to allow for more seating but not like this.

This place is always empty and always get turned away even when the restaurant is empty! When you do get a table the service is excruciatingly slow, with overpriced terrible food. The waiting staff always get the order wrong and are very unapologetic. Bad food, poor beer, overpriced and poor service

I've never had a bad meal here, the food is excellent. As for the desserts, they most certainly do not disappoint, the chef is a miracle worker.

I was hoping to grab a light bite or a sandwich but sadly we were unable to get any food as they were only serving meals that were priced more than £20. I visited the garden centre with my elderly relatives and had to take them elsewhere. This put a bit of a dampener on what was otherwise a lovely visit.

My second favourite kebab shop in Yeovil and never had an issue before. Popped in Saturday for something to eat, there were kids sat on the counter sliding up and down and some kid running around behind the counter dipping his hands in the fresh salad. Totally put me off now and definitely wouldn't do there again.

Thankyou so much to the wonderful staff at Pizza Hut who worked so hard today to make my son’s 6th birthday a memorable one. Our main server, a dark haired lad (didn’t get your name, sorry) was brilliant from start to finish and thrived in a busy environment by being polite, efficient and agreeing to take our cake and put candle in to bring out to him. Was so lovely that other staff members joined him to sing! Very impressed as I work in hospitality myself and know how chaotic it gets but everyone was so smiley and positive. I really wish I’d left a tip now!!! I will come back and leave one soon I promise. You’re all stars!

If you are visiting the cemetary or crematorium this is the ideal stop-off for a snack. Its nearby and offers a tasty selection of food to eat quickly. there is a large car park alongside

Very friendly pub...good service.. excellent range of Wadsworth beers well priced...cider as well as the usual suspects. Pleasant outside seating area

This is a fast food cheap and cheerful resteraunt ideally placed for a bite before or after visiting the museum .The pies are the best choice
