The best restaurants in South Somerset South West

Lovely find, perfect for a little getaway. Great location for a visit to Montacute House! The team were very welcoming and our room was clean & tidy. We ate here 3 times during our stay and each meal was fantastic, breakfast was great! We enjoyed some live music on the evening and the pub had a great atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place enough, we look forward to visiting again.

turned up , no booking,on 2nd march with a party of 14, a very warm welcome, very accomodating amazing staff, the food was beautiful, a great choice , the landlords selection roast was so good, the cauliflower cheese oh my it was special, well done to the wonderful 17 year old chef who cooked our food, (i think he was the owners son), hes a credit to you, everything made our unexpected visit to you very special with a family reunion, very good prices to, thank you all very much for making our visit memorable, we all will be back very soon xx many thanks xx

I was hoping to grab a light bite or a sandwich but sadly we were unable to get any food as they were only serving meals that were priced more than £20. I visited the garden centre with my elderly relatives and had to take them elsewhere. This put a bit of a dampener on what was otherwise a lovely visit.

Bar staff need to be trained better. It's a joke today

Family get together BUT now they add 10% to final bill !!! We used to like going to Mattia but even though food and service is good they have now started adding 10% to the final bill which in all honesty is quite a lot and TBH if we want to tip we should if WE want to and not because they have lost trade due too the new road layout. I never saw anything to say they add this to our bills either only mentioned when i queried when i paid!

A good roomy cafe, with plenty of space to talk without being to close to others. Good food and drinks. Value for money in a good location. The staff are very pleasant, and work their butts off. Whenever I am in with my brother, they are always extremely efficient and never idol. MANAGEMENT TAKE NOTE OF YOUR STAFF PLEASE. YOU HAVE A GOOD TEAM HERE.

Ordered the Mixed Kebab and I was blown away by the size of the kebab. Meat beautifully cooked and a good amount of each meat. Chips were deliberately boxed when I collected so that they were crispy when I got home. Highly recommended!

Lured by a FB ad of a 'new menu' we tried lunch here. The restaurant didn't look prepared; posters on some tables, no welcoming atmosphere. We went through to the bar where there were menus. It was a chilly damp day but no fire, the fireplace looked unused; the decor was dark & 'querky'. We chose a pork casserole & Thai curry. After ordering we were told that there would be a wait as he was busy with another order (though the place seemed deserted) & the food arrived in half an hour. The curry was meaty but sitting on a base of glutinous rice, not at all like the illustration on the FB page where the rice was in a separate bowl served with green beens; there were no beans at all. The casserole was a bowl of thick soup with no discernable potato (as stated in menu) but the taste was OK. So, very disappointing food, in a dreary room. We felt sorry for the bar person who was trying hard. Won't be back.

Excellent service, delicious Sunday roast and a nice atmosphere. As a local, I haven’t been here for a very long time, as all the above was lacking, but I would thoroughly recommend.

Really awful experience, not only was it 30 mins late.. it turned up cold. Chips were cold and stale on arrival, lasagne was awfully cheesy. Salt added to everything with no option to not have it. Garlic bread was hurrendous. Obviously frozen. Bags filled with oil. Onion rings cold, Penne pasta almost watery. Also whilst we were waiting past our delivery time we tried ringing 7 times with no answer. We have young kids waiting for their dinner.

Appalling service/disgusting, ordered a takeaway meal, on collection the chips were scattered over the tray and the attendant scooped the up with bare hands the offered me the remainder left on the tray. Will not be using ever again.

Haven't had a Chinese takeaway for a while, thought we would order from the Mandarin as heard food was good? The delivery turned up in the time given, but first of all the free prawn crackers were soft and all the beef in the curry both for my husband and myself was really chewy and didn't have much flavour, all in all very disappointed

Great food, well cooked and plenty of it!

Standard Morrisons cafe. Went for breakfast. Staff were friendly, albeit service seemed to be a bit slow in terms of receiving the food itself.

No idea on the food front but a pub is a pub in layman's terms. Enough said.
