Lovey village pub, very dog friendly! Food was great value for money and extremely tasty! Very relaxed atmosphere and felt very welcome. It also had Harry’s rhubarb cider on table which was a bonus, it went down a treat!

Visited whilst working in the area as I do a LOT! Maybe 3 days a week I stay in hotels and I book myself by the day as I need to know where I’m working the following day to know where to book. I’m a Surveyor and like a nice quality place to stay. This place is a locals pub in a small village setting. But exactly what I love! VERY friendly staff, friendly locals.. the bar was busy and the Manager asked some of the locals to ‘chill’ twice but they were just laughing and loud. My ideal place to stay is always a pub with rooms and this is a great find. Don’t expect chandeliers and Michelin star cuisine because it’s not and doesn’t try to be. It’s a nice menu with good quality pub food in a friendly setting. The rooms are basic but very tidy and very clean. HAVE TO SAY…. This is the first place I’ve stayed that has air conditioning which is amazing. They know how to be cost effective but the kind of place I’m always looking for. Will pin this place to stay again when I’m next nearby. :)

We had a 2 night stay this March, perfect for needs, as we wanted to visit the Clark Village and the RSPB sites located nearby. Food here is excellent, fast service and nice selection, bar drinks cater for all, loads of beers and Ciders. Nice restaurant for breakfast which certainly gave us a good start to the day. Room was just fine, and spotless, warm and cosy, bit tight for space in the bathroom but fine, huge bed was very comfy and clean. This is a local pub that does food. The landlady was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant part of it is behind the main bar, slightly separated. There are only a few tables there so it's probably best to book in advance. The service is not fast but that is because everything seemed to be prepared to order. The food was good. I couldn’t find a menu on line so did not know what to expect and unfortunately there was nothing that appealed. They had a carvery but I have an aversion to buffet food. The waitress spoke with the chef and he said he could steam some cod with a cheese sauce. Liked the sound of the fish, so he offered me a final choice of hollandaise which I accepted, gratefully. My husband had gammon with all the trimmings. It was very much a traditional pub with rooms and certainly not a “gastro pub.” The service was good and the staff friendly, so not a bad experience at all.

The service was good but the food was very poor. The roast of the day - beef - was clearly not sliced from a fresh joint, so was overcooked and tough. The roast potatoes were anything but roast potatoes and the yorkshire pudding was a limp chunk of goo! The vegetables were over cooked and appeared to have been reheated. The chicken breast (special of the day!) was very dry.

The website looks alright and most reviews on here are good. However, the pub is quite run-down, the furniture dirty (seat cushions etc.), the choice of ales is very limited (only Teignworthy and Butcombe) the food pretty terrible. I had food poisoning almost immediately after lunch in this place. The salad tasted old, slimy and dodgy, the baked potato foul. I did eat it because I didn't want to disappoint and embarrass a friend who had invited me here, but I wish I hadn't finished the meal. I tried the coleslaw but left 99% of it as it didn't taste fresh and had far too much mayonnaise in it. The service was friendly, but a bit slow. I definitely wouldn't go here again, not even to have a drink.

Two of us had prawn cocktails, not the normal tiny prawns but loved big juicy prawns, beautifully presented. The Stilton, garlic mushrooms were also very tasty. My husband ordered a mixed grill.... How he managed to eat it all I don't know but again nicely presented and he said all the meat was cooked well. 3 of us has beef stroganoff which was served with fresh cauliflower and broccoli both cooked just how we like it not too soft and not too firm.

We loved the feel of the 'local' pub with loads of friendly people in the bar that gave us lots of information of the local area There is an extensive menu including a children's menu and a specials board with loads of different things to choose from, we were really spoilt for choice. All the staff we came into contact with were just lovely and nothing was too much for them, they loved our children and made us all very welcome. We will certainly be coming again! Met up with friends who we haven’t seen for a while so really looking forward to this meal. Very friendly, very old pub with a real fire in the middle of the bar. Our friends had booked on the understanding that we could have a table by the window and that the beef would be rare. Well our table, though allocated to us was occupied by other people. Many apologies and a choice of the remaining places sorted that hiccup ! The beef unfortunately was very well done so a bit of a disappointment, but the roast pork was a lovely alternative. Plenty of vegetables on offer including a very nice cauliflower cheese, however the cabbage and peas were swimming in water and had to be drained. The gravy was pleasant. The sweets were nice enough though I felt my Eton Mess could’ve done with more cream, ice cream and meringue and less tinned watery fruit. After our meal we went back to the bar for coffees, I thought they were excellent but our friends felt they were far too strong. All in all we really enjoyed our meal, made all the nicer by the very helpful friendly service both in the bar and the restaurant.

A classic pub with a lovely fire in the centre. We spent New Years Eve at the pub and stayed over in the hotel area. I had a 3 course meal and everything was brilliant. The service was great - didnt even realise there was only one waitress at the time our large party was being served.

We visited The Old Pound Inn on a Friday night. The welcome was very warming like the pub - open fire burning in the main area. As we were dining we selected a table away from the main area away from people who were drinking and or watching the big TV.

Just returned from the pub having had a lovely meal. We had a great welcome and a choice of seating and chose the bar area with a real fire. The starter was prawn cocktail and big juicy prawns. Main course from the specials board of chicken and pork. Both delicious. I will definitely return.

The Inn offers a good selection of meals, something for everyone and a carvery on a Sunday. The food is all well cooked, the meals are a generous size and very tasty. I would recommend you try it.

We had a lovely overnight stay here - 2 adults and 2 children sharing across 2 rooms with a connecting door. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We opted to have an evening meal on arrival - great value, good sized portions and tasty food. Similarly, the breakfast options were perfectly suited to our family. Would recommend and would stay again. Only reasons for not being 5 stars are the bathroom was quite small (perfectly clean and functional) and the adult side of the room was 2 single beds (which we could probably have pushed together if we'd been so inclined). Worth the money.

So I've been working in Langport for past 10 days. The day I arrived at the old pound inn where I was saying for the duration of my stay to the day I left has been an absolute pleasure. Breakfast is tasty and the pub food they serve is delicious. The local people in the pub are so welcoming and make it feel like a real family pub. Can't wait to go back. For a B&b; Bedrooms are very clean and have all the requirements of a modern hotel. Highly recommend this place.

If you imagine a typical somerset village pub, you are pretty close to what you are going to find here.

I stayed here one Saturday night in September, on my way to Portland on business, I had a bad journey down with a major hold up on the M5 which mean't a diversion and the motorway being closed, which added a good hour onto my trip. The main point of this review is, When I finally got near to the pub, which was down country lanes, my sat nav was working well until I got to about a mile from the place, and I found the lane to it was closed and a diversion was in place, ok, here I go again, just what I needed, so, I followed the diversion one way, which after 6 miles disappeared, so I drove back to the lane diversion and drove the other way, same thing, no sign's, so, back to the first diversion, and I decided to ignore it and about 200 m beyond the road closure sign was a sign to say access the the Old Pound Pub!!, this put another hour on my journey, by which time it was knocking 10-0 pm.

Had read great reviews for the Old Pound so booked a table for my wife and myself but on the day discovered that the road from Langport to Aller was closed so we were forced to follow a not very well signed diversion so we were very glad to arrive at the wonderfully warm-welcoming establishment which was clearly very popular with local residents to judge by the number already in at 6.30 pm.

Arrived and looked a lovely place from outside. Close to the main road through the village but didn't seem too noisy. Showed to room, seemed nice enough size clean and tidy. Was a very hot day noticed air con unit searched for remote. Was told sorry recently installed no remotes. Offered a "desk fan".Left hotel booked into Travelodge at extra expense. Was only staying one night but if longer this would not be an ideal place in warm weather to stay.Decor outside rooms very dated. Pub food was alright. I wouldn't stay here again sorry.Contact with owner states air con not commissioned, no offer of recompense.

Best gammon that me and the missus has ever had. Nice buttery roasties and plenty of vegetable options. Plenty of seating and car parking spaces. Nice large outside area for summer time food and drink. Staff were friendly and reasonably priced food. Downside was that the carpets needed a really good clean, but I'm sure that this will be seen too in the not too distant future.

The Lord Nelson is our local so an easy choice for a family get-together to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. We had a table for 20 and took over the skittle alley which doubles as a function room. Everyone attending had a great time and the pub and staff received lots of compliments. They are all extremely friendly and professional, and Mark’s food is excellent. Not sure we’ll make the skittles team though!

It's a pub that serves perfectly decent food. But it's not a "gastro-pub" (whatever that is). You can go in and be sure to get a moderately good meal for a moderate price. Nothing fancy. No pretentions of being anything it isn't. Just a country pub catering for a decent honest local clientele. And that's a worthwhile and valuable service I appreciate.

I genuinely have to applaud the staff. This chain has a particular modus operandi, which is a challenge in itself. Being both affordable and hospitable to the masses in tandem is no easy task. The Cerdic management can be commended on those it employs, namely those that stand up rigorously to the extreme varied volumetric patron numbers and the pressures that this produces, especially given the size of the establishment. It is not for me when the 'masses frequent on their evening of well deserved leisure' but outside these times, it serves my purpose.

Fab lunch at the Prince of Wales today. Confit duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, and venison faggots with mash were our main courses. Both dishes were tasty, filling and cooked perfectly. Puddings were good too; ginger treacle tart and apple pie with custard, not overly sweet and decent size. Thank you
