Stayed nearby, and this was traditional pub was recommended to us by the local owner of our accommodation. Large car park, lovely pub, dog friendly, food was fresh and pipping hot and delicious 😋 Friendly service, would definitely visit again.

What a great place to eat! They have a lovely venue, with traditional old beams and open fires in the cold. The food is homemade and generous and the price very reasonable. We had the grilled goats cheese salad with a side of chips and it was delicious. The goats cheese was mild and perfect in texture, complemented with a balsamic glaze. It was a very generous serving too. Our friends had the lasagna and that came with salad and chips. They said it was delicious. If you’re in need of a friendly, homely pub and you’re near Langport, try this.

The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. As a party of 7 plus 2 small children we sampled most of the menu, everyone agreed the food was excellent. Good selection of veg and plenty of gravy to please my husband. The lemon posset was to die for. Lovely traditional pub with plenty of room, also lots of outside seating although we didn’t sample as cold and raining!!

A very enjoyable lunch of chicken and bacon salad, a rather large ham & cheese omelette, a steak & kidney pie and lastly a chilli jacket potato. Portion sizes were generous and all the food was tasty. A choice of real ales was available and both the Tribute and Proper Job went down well. Service was friendly and efficient and there’s plenty of seating inside and out and there’s a large car park to the rear. We’ll worth a visit.

A very disappointing visit for Sunday lunch , with very curt service . Our family of of 9 arrived for a get together after a year apart after recommendation from another family member . Only 7 of us were eating and two joining later for drinks , the table we had was most uncomfortable for the 7 of us with 2 of us having to sit in a window seat which meant the position to try and eat in was nearly impossible unless you engaged your core and we're prepared to almost slide of the cushion . The menu for main courses was adequate but the side dishes were very sparing . The dessert menu was extremely small and as a type 1 diabetic there was nothing suitable on offer . I asked if it were possible to have a cheeseboard but was most rudely told no by the waiting staff , so was left unable to eat with my family . I tried to speak with the manager at varying times throughout the visit as didn't want to make a scene but this wasn't possible . All in all a very disappointing experience and we shall not be returning any time soon .

As usual, a warm welcome and lovely attentive staff. Only issue is that Sunday lunch is quite minimal for the price. Three small roast potatoes per person and a very thin ( but nice) slice of beef. Stopped here on the off chance whilst passing through on a Saturday afternoon, so glad we did. The barman/landlord seemed to be on his own apart from the kitchen staff behind the scenes. He was ever so helpful and accommodating the wife and I were seated in the bar area with our three small children as we had brought our dog along but this was perfect, plenty of space and close to the open fire that was roaring away keeping us warm from the December air outside. The food was to die for, between us all we had a range of what is to offer and it was all fantastic ( the chips are out of this world ). Four meals ( youngest still on bottles, I didn't leave a child out, don't worry lol.) Four meals drinks and 15% tip came to £50, now that can not be argued with in my book. Lovely Pub, atmosphere top notch, food is excellent and service was impeccable.. definitely will be returning in the future.

We have eaten here on a few occasions recently and found the food to be good. We came for Sunday lunch today and were very disappointed with the general experience. We sat down at 1.30 to be told there was no roast beef (surely you would hold some back for your bookings?). We ordered a pork and a chicken. We had starters first which were ok, the garlic mushrooms were lukewarm. The mains turned up with very very small portions of meat and 3 dried up roast potatoes each that had been hanging around for a while, the vegetables were also lukewarm. I asked the waitress for some more pork only to be told they had run out (one of my slices of pork had even been cut in half - was this so that some other poor diner could have his portion?). So I spoke to the landlord Jerry, who found some more pork (where had it been hiding!). To be honest we got the impression that they had run out of food and our meals were cobbled together with the last scraps. The whole experience was a let down; when I paid the bill and voiced my concerns to the barman he was not the slightest bit interested. What a shame; we are locals and eat out often. We won't be back.

We tried to visit this pub on a Monday night in November but it was closed, the website needs updating. We tried again on a Thursday evening and got in. All the crew are friendly and helpful. The inside looks recently decorated and is smart and functional. The menu is not large but has enough choice. I went for cod n chips. Service was a bit slow but our meals arrived pipping hot and comprised a plate full of food. The fish was uninspiring but the chips and peas were super. A nice pub serving reasonably priced food with friendly service. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We booked to visit for our daughter's birthday. The bar staff on arrival were pleasant however the table waitresses were not of a happy disposition! The meal itself was £10.50 (it did benefit from The Eat Out to Help Out scheme but I don't feel that should account for the size of meal!!). My daughter had lasagne and my husband had beef burger but both meals came solely with chips. Not a vegetable/salad leaf in sight! The chips were supposed to be triple cooked but they were clearly just frozen chips and were also hard. When we asked for condiments, we were just given some sachets which gave the feel of being in a cafe. Really disappointed that a special family meal out was not done justice

Having pre-booked directly with the pub for an evening meal with friends and family we were disappointed they'd not only missed the starters, but when we pointed out pretty much told us they'd prepared the main courses now so we'h have to have them. The owner didn't make much of an attempt to apologise and initially suggested we'd not sent the full menu choices through. In future perhaps it would be better to check the prebooked menu choices with your customers and then if you make a mistake at least be prepared to own up to it.

Had a drink and then asked if we could eat - we hadn't booked (whoops) and all tables reserved. but owner went to the kitchen and returned to say that they could manage us at about 1:30, which was fine by us. We both chose the Hake, on mash served with roast vegetables. It was extremely good and reasonably priced. The pub has a great atmosphere, pleasant gardens, but on a sunny day, climb the steps to the roof terrace and enjoy the vast views from there whilst enjoying a refreshing pint. Plenty of parking, a clean, smart and attractive pub with large open fire.

We booked for two at 7 p.m. on a Fridy night. Big mistake-bar was full of horrendously loud skittlers, not the management's fault but they could have asked them to keep it down a bit. We couldn't get near the bar for them but were eventually spotted and shown to our table and our drinks brought to us. We soon ordered but waited 40 minutes for our food. Our food was very nice except that my friend had the pie and mash and when we were asked about sauces she asked for a little gravy. That'll be a £1 extra she was told so we said no, on principle. The food is quite pricey anyway. Another waitress came over and asked if all was o.k. so we mentioned the need for gravy but received the same reply. This petty meanness really spoilt our evening and has put us off returning to this pub.

Frequented this pub often. Not good today. Menu changed nachos which were best in the area are now on the revised new menu as for sharing at an increased price of £12.50. No option to have as a single course sadly even though the waitress spoke to the chef. When they came they were very short of cheese and just plain nachos underneath. The sour cream which is usually very good was very runny. Our other order was fish and chips and the portion of fish was small although the chips were very good. I spoke to the waitress about the nachos but really no one seemed to care. After we finished our main course we waited ages for our plates to be collected even though there were only two other tables with customers so we decided not to have pudding. This all makes me very sad pubs these days really need to keep their customers and I feel I won’t be going back.

I must say the portions were quite stingy and the vegetables not really enough for eight persons but tasty enough. Then we all had a pudding Eton mess. Well that was mine was! A mess! It looked horrible and compared to the others it looked stale, I had two mouthfuls an couldn't eat anymore. When the girl cleared the plates I complained also I had a chipped dish. She never came back to me, hence that's why I am writing this. I would have taken the pudding back, but why should you have to? When you pay good money you should expect good food. Won't go back!

Neither of us finished our meal as the portions were so generous! The food was clearly of a high quality and incredibly fresh, it was definately great value for money.

After a visit to Barrington court we went looking for a pub lunch. The first pub we stopped at rudely sent us away due to a walking group. The next stop was the Lamb and Lion. It’s a really lovely pub, nice decor and the welcome was friendly.

We eat here several times a year as part of a regional Classic Car Club meet including Christmas parties in both 2017 and 2018. Our food has always been of a good quality. Staff are often small in number and therefore work hard but they are friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Visited here by the off chance after some air rifle shooting with the family on a Sunday. We stopped off hoping to grab a bite to eat however was told that they couldn't accommodate as it was Sunday service and we would have needed to book online. Fair enough.

Having eaten here before I decided to book the largest upstairs room for a family Christmas lunch. I was told we would need to pre order. We did. They lost it! Therefore much of what would have been eaten was now not available. We ordered from the standard menu. Only two portions of turkey left in the building....just as well it tasted and looked like boil in the bag portions (chef what chef!!).

The room was nicely decorated, had a real tree and the table was attractive. An unusual idea was place settings with each persons' choice of meal, much appreciated by some of our older guests! The meal was tasty with enough to suit everyone's appetite. Time between courses was a bit long; more waiting staff would sort that out but all staff were pleasant and helpful.

We took a friend for his birthday for Sunday lunch, we booked for 12.30 we arrived early and were shown to our table. After a long wait starters arrived after 35 mins. All very good. Then another 35 mins for the Roast to appear, a shame we had to wait so long. Please get more staff as your food is excellant but very poor service today.

What a gem of a place this is, a lovely old but refurbished pub at Hambridge. We stopped here after a busy day out and I can honestly say one of the best experiences I have had for a pub meal. It was warm and inviting (good wood burning fire providing plenty of warmth) staff were excellent and the meal outstanding, plates were hot meal was hot and delicious, it is well worth taking time to find this place!

We visited for lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon and were seated promptly. Our orders were taken quickly but we were told they had run out of lamb which was a shame. Our food arrived within reasonable time and was tasty, we all agreed it was good value for the money. After we finished nobody came to take our plates, despite two waitresses walking empty handed past our table on several occasions. We finally had to ask for our table to be cleared but were told that we would have to wait for her colleague to do it as she was covering the bar. During the wait I wandered around the pub and took a look upstairs including out on to the roof terrace - I was surprised at how deceptively spacious the pub is and I was particularly impressed with the beautiful far reaching views of the countryside. We ordered desserts for the children and unfortunately two of the four dessert options had sold out. All in all it was a pleasant lunch but was let down by poor service.

How is it possible to run out of lamb in somerset, we ordered 4 lamb Sunday lunch dinners at 1-15 pm , orders were taken and then to be told we only have enough lamb for 2 of our party, at 1.30pm, having travelled 35 miles on recommendation, and then to add insult we then waited 40 mins for our food to arrive, nice pub poorly run , and shall eat closer to home next time ,

A large group of us decended on this pub for our evening meal. We had pre-ordered and the staff had perpared a large table for us in the dining room. A couple of female waitresses took the drinks orders from us and these were soon delivered to the table. Bottles of water were also on the table. The starters and later the main meals were delivered and eaten. The meal I had was very good and I think everyone of us enjoyed this experience. The girls cleared away and then took the sweets orders I however ordered cheese and biscuits. This was the only negative part of the evening because i never got my order. The sweets were served and consumed but despite keep asking for the cheese and biscuits they did not appear. A little thing but it let the staff down.

We travelled from Poole and called in to have lunch with an old friend. We were warmly welcomed by the waitress and then the barman and were advised that we could choose where we wanted to sit as they were not very busy. In no time at all the tables filled up and the pub was full to bursting creating a very warm atmosphere. We ordered our drinks at the bar but the food was waitress service. Our food was excellent and beautifully presented, all freshly cooked. The deserts were exceptional. When visiting again, we will definitely lunch here.

On a Thursday lunch time we had a lovely meal and first class service.I took the precaution of booking as on Tuesday and Wednesday this week The Lamb & Lion was fully booked. I could not understand the previous reviewer with “the I’ve arrived so fit me in attitude “and when the pub couldn’t they gave them a 1 star rating.

Celebrating a birthday lunch. The place is spotlessly clean and well laid out. The food was exceptional. From gnocchi to Steak and Ale pie thete was something for everyone. The people here are extremely helpful and pleasant and we were made to feel very welcome. Can't wait to return and try other items from the menu.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, the room was clean and the breakfast was quite nice. The actual pub was a mess, very run down and depressing. We were booked for two nights but came home after the first day ...... would not recommend this hotel.

First time in this pub for a few years. Always a good cheap meal to be had and nothing has changed. Pleasant and clean pub and we three enjoyed the fish and chips. Pleasant staff and good tasting food. Well presented and the puddings were tasty, perhaps a bit pricey though. However an interesting experience and one we would perhaps repeat at a later date.
