Really enjoyed the sparkford Inn, had a great night staff went above and beyond

We come here regularly for Sunday carvery it never fails to disappoint the food is always fresh and hot always three choicesof meat and its great value for money, our favourite place for Sunday lunch

My food was OK but the wife's main was obviously a microwaved baked potato that was red hot in the middle and cool at the outsides. Soup was good but why do people put Pilau rice with Chilli con carne.

Stayed overnight and was very happy with the room. Clean, spacious and well-maintained. Despite having a large wedding group in, the staff were able to serve us dinner with very little wait. The food was variable - I really enjoyed the scampi, though one friend's nachos were cold, and another's burger was pretty small.

Attended to have lunch, disappointed, portions were tiny, had burger, was overcooked and bacon far too crispy, chips were overcooked. Waitress was moody and not helpful.

Great place to go for a few drinks with friends, friendly staff and very nice pub. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

This is the worst B&B in the uk. Firstly you get NO BREAKFAST. We had not been in the Inn for 5 minutes before a full upfont payment for 2 nights was demanded. The Inn is totally understaffed and the Dinner Menu is very limited. Fortunately the Bed was comfortable.

Amazing food and quality service. Staff are more than helpful and check in to ensure your meal is up to standard. We arrived minutes after the pubs 12 noon kitchen opening time, and were served quickly. Food was hot and delicious. Also a large selection of dishes 👍

Missed main meal and missing items on mixed grills.

Food was OK. 3 out of 6 food orders not as expected. i.e. no eggs on mixed grill as they'd run out, didn't tell us only when we raised it. No alternative item offered and no reduction in price. Drinks expensive.

Bar service good and friendly. beer not bad, at least it was cold. food was mediocre to say the least, in fact worse than mediocre, appalling. Don't waste your time or money.

Food was OK. Lady was friendly and helpful. Rushed off her feet.

We met with friends for lunch. Some pretty good food choices and some nice Specials. They do have a GF menu (not mentioned on their website) but they admit to possible cross contamination. There were some dairy free puddings available. The staff were pleasant and efficient with our service. Not a massive selection of draft beers. Some 0% bottled beer/cider and a fair selection of other soft options. There are tables outside too.

I attended an event there. The event room was very nice. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely old pub, very welcoming and homely. Excellent meals. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. Beer garden kept well and easily accessible.

Good room, clean, big comfortable bed, but very hot bedroom with no fan provided. No breakfast provided. Evening meal was OK but took forever to come.

Stopped off on our way to Devon. They were able to seat 15 people on one table. Friendly service and good food.

For me, this is a 3.5 star place, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but nothing special. Food very reasonably priced and helpful staff. It is a perfect location to break in a long drive to Devon

We felt really sorry for the girl behind the bar as she was having to serve bar customers with drinks, take food orders, bring food out & clear tables etc. She was having to do everything other than cook! The food was lovely but not very hot but I wonder if this was due to only having one member of staff trying to get food out. There really needed to be another member of staff to help out with the food side of things. We were a table of 12 & had pre-booked so it’s not like we weren’t expected. We had to order at the bar which meant our food orders went in at different times so maybe this was why the food was cold. It’s a real shame as the food was lovely it was just marred by the lack of staff. Well done to the girl working who maintained her cool!

18th May Table booked for 12, place pretty much empty on arrival, no table service provided?? Pretty much ignored throughout visit!! Food was OK, but everything was overcooked and dry:0( Sauces were very small and inadequate. Best part of the meal was the desserts :0) Would not return.

What a surprise!! Never been here before but will certainly be back!! There is quite an extensive menu that caters for most dietary preferences so you shouldn't really be stuck for something to eat, and based on what we had, whatever you get should be pretty darn good. We rocked up on a Monday and the carpark was empty and I had the uneasy feeling that it was closed but was delighted to find it open with some diners already in situ. We were greeted by a lovely young lady, who's name I didn't get, but she was very welcoming and competent and dealt with us in a very warm and professional manner. It was all in all a very pleasant experience and one that we will hopefully be repeating in the near future.

Lovely pub with great food. Had Sunday lunch here. Meats were cooked to perfection with plenty of vegetables available. Well worth a visit it your in the area.

We held our wedding at Sparkford Inn. Louise (the Manager) and Simon (Chef) were amazing and really went above and beyond to make our day really special. We have returned exactly a year later to celebrate our first Anniversary. As before, Louise and Simon were wonderfull as were the newer staff, Alison and Izzy, going the extra mile to make the day memorable. Lovely food and drink and beautiful bedrooms.

Comfy pub & both the staff & clientele were really friendly. We were lucky enough to visit on a sunny day so sat outside in the beer garden. There’s a games room with a pool table, dart board & boxed games. Just a 5 minute walk from Long Hazel Park where we were staying in our motorhome

Not very good. 🫤 Well…the Beef for the roast was not good. Half of my x2 although, thin, slices were un-chewable. Should have stuck with ‘just’ Turkey. Surprisingly, there was only X1 green veg which were Sprouts! (If I’m not mistaken, more people DON’T like them than do.) A LARGE glass of Wine is at most…medium. Would we return? Not anytime soon. Xx

First visit here. We rang up to see if they could fit us in for the same lunch time and we're lucky to get a table. Friendly staff. Lovely carvery. Lovely looking pub as well. Will definitely be going back

We stayed overnight with dinner. We enjoyed our meal. Room was lovely and roomy and very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and attentive.

A lovely carvery had on Sunday. It was still hot and very tasty. Would like to have been offered 3 meats instead of 2 for £12.99. The peas were abit hard for me but everyone has different cooking preferences so this wasn’t a deal breaker. A good range of veg choice available. Would def go again and nice to have it available right on the doorstep. The service received by Kylie, the chef and Sky was friendly professional and welcoming. Thank u

We went there for a meal for my daughters birthday and the service was very good as the lady in charge was super pleasant and helpful. Very reasonably priced. Recommended.

A fantastic Carvery for the money, friendly staff, very old pub, showing its age but feeling very homely and welcoming, you will not be disappointed, and only 4.5 miles from home.

Came here for dinner last night, let me say it was amazing!! The service was way above my expectations, Louise our server was so kind and helpful, she made sure all our needs were looked after. I had the fish and chips and my partner had the cowboy burger. Both looked good and tasted even better. They were even able to tailor my partners burger to his fussy eating needs😅. We were so full but were easily persuaded to try their desserts, the salted caramel cookie brownie was to die for!!! Honestly couldn’t recommend this place more, very friendly warm atmosphere with lovely staff!!

Very good meal and great service, i had the mac and cheese which was amazing. We were served by Louise was amazing and catered to our every need.

Wonderful pub , came for lunch today with my daughter , plenty of choice and good value for money . I had the scampi and my daughter had Mac and cheese , food was lovely, service was great , Louise the new manager was great . Can’t wait to return .

The food was amazing, i came with my mum, service was absolutely great, there was a great selection of alcohol on the bar and louise looked after us very well during our meal i had the ultimate chicken burger which was cooked to perfection i very much enjoyed my whole experience.

Came in for a meal the steak was lovely the service was excellent the staff couldn’t do enough to help me I will definitely be returning next time I’m in the area also noticed they rent out rooms and I took a look at the function room and was really surprised at how good it looked

Stayed for 1 night and had dinner beforehand. Excellent food, excellent service. Very welcoming. The room was huge, clean and the bed was soooooo comfortable I didnt want to get up.

Me and some friends came to The Sparkford Inn for the drag night last night and oh what a night. He was fabulous and so much fun. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and were joining in with all the fun. We also had dinner before hand which was so tasty and came out in such god time considering how busy it looked. I really enjoyed the nachos so much flavour. Thank you again to everyone at The Sparkford for such a fantastic night. We hope you out more nights on like this.

We came here for Mother's Day with our family. We had a great Sunday roast. The Carvery was fantastic 3 choices of meat. Lots of veg roast potatoes, Simon. The server on the Carvey was so good and welcoming. We will definitely come again.

myself and my boyfriend came here for dinner last night. He had the ultimate burger and I had the fish-and-chips. It was cooked very well and we really enjoyed it. Ali, on the bar was really nice and was very welcoming to us. Nice little country pub that we have found here. We will definitely return when we are out this way.

We came here for carvery. Food was fantastic three choices of meat, two choices of potato lots of veg, great choice of sauces. The staff were great, very friendly and very welcoming lots of locals in the bar having drinks and it was a really welcoming place to come, we will definitely be back

We love the Sunday carvery here, they have new manager and Louise, Kylie and Simon are great they always make us feel welcome the place has a great feel about it now

We came for sunday lunch it was carcery stule and it was so nice we will definitely come again we all really enjoyed it , we saw posters for ecents there looks like the place is getting busier we will be going to some of them as they have lots on so looking forward to it

Hotel bad but food good. Room was dirty and neglected. Evidently not cleaned (dust around & teaspoon was filthy). Bathroom light faulty upon first try and it was a palaver getting it fixed. Hairdryer was missing parts. Wi-Fi didn't connect and is unsecured anyway without a password. Breakfast is not offered. Actual suite / apartment was a good size and had quirkiness. Shame as it had great potential. Dinner on the other hand was very lovely, cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I recommend you eat dinner here but stay somewhere else.

Good to see Hobgoblin beer on tap and in excellent condition. We had a shared plate of chips with pulled pork topping which was tasty. Service was very good. Hope to go there again when in the area.

So glad they are serving food again regularly, we were able to stroll there and back, certain of some great pub grub. We only saw one member of staff though we were greeted warmly, our order was taken promptly and food arrived quickly. Afterwards we were able to enjoy a few games of pool and got friendly quick service at the bar. Great value family pub and restaurant.

The food was well cooked and very tasty. The chips were crisp and fluffy and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Had the most beautiful lasagna tonight, served Kylie’s special touch , piping hot and served with a smile. Try it , can’t believe they can do it for the money 😍

We went to visit the Haynes Museum one more time after a year and after we finished we decided to eat somewhere nearby. This Inn was recommended to us by a nice lady from the Museum, so we arrived in a few minutes. Since we were hungry, we ordered the daily menu with tomato soup and for the second course we had gammon. Everything was very good, comfortable seats, tasty and cold beer, fast service, hot and tasty food. We will definitely make a stop at the Inn when we are in the area

Went here with my family and had a lovely meal. The food was splendid, the staff looked after us and it was nice to see the pub back busy again.

Very Long wait for food and watched some waiting an age for a simple ice cream. The meal was over cooked and bland and probably the worst Hunter’s Chicken I’ve ever had. A glimpse of cheese and very dry and tasteless. None of the promised rocket and nothing green in the plate at all. An undercooked half a tomato The chips were good We followed it with a chocolate tart which was hot at one end and cold at the other! Service was friendly but the apology for lack of cheese was so weak and no solution offered. We pass here often and would have loved to have found a regular top but we won’t be back.

Went there with friends and unfortuntely it has reverted to how it was 18 months ago - quiet, slow food service (I saw people ordering at the bar and I saw when their meal arrived). Nobody lingered after eating. It is not the slick welcoming operation it was when Gemma and Jon were runnig it, which is a pity. I will go back, but only because it is comvenient to the A303 for friends who come a reasonable distance.

The Exterior family room was spacious, basic, with rear window that didn't open. Breakfast consisted of a bag of continental style breakfast items with milk being provided in a bottle, (not sealed, but obviously topped up) same with juices. Not in new sealed cartons or bottles, but re-used screw top water bottle type containers. Variety pack style cereal boxes. Dust was in all corners and edges, especially obvious in the bathroom, which also had empty shampoo and liquid dispensers (luckily I'd taken my own). For the cost of £100 (2nd Sept 2023) for a grubby, family room, I was very disappointed, as this could be a great place to stay of a little TLC was give to the place, especially in its rural location and convenient distance to a number of great local attractions. Drinks from the bar were average for the area.

A lovely Old London, fabulous food and fabulous,friendly staff. We were made so welcome and made my Grandaughters wedding reception so enjoyable.l would recommend this warm delightful gem to everyone.

Cracking carvery. Staying at the local campsite. Had the carvery, great value at £11.99. Really enjoyed the meal and the chef obviously takes pride in his work. Friendly service. Would recommend.

Lovely Sunday carvery just what we all needed. A good variety of veg, vegetarian option and pigs in blankets for those who want that little bit extra. Would recommend booking ahead.

I had an incredible experience at the Stratford Inn! The rustic charm of the pub made it the perfect stop on our biking adventure. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and the mixed grill we ordered was simply delicious. And let's talk about the praline chocolate tart—it was truly out of this world! The locals were friendly and eager to chat, adding a warm and inviting atmosphere to the place. A five-star gem that I can't wait to visit again.

Comfortable, clean rooms, friendly service, competitively priced freshly cooked evening meals and a complimentary continental breakfast. What more does the weary traveller need? We'll definitely stay here again.

I came in with my son and was greeted and shown to a table. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming! We were served quickly and the waitress looked after us well! My son enjoyed his meal from the children's menu and I enjoyed mac and cheese! Good food and great prices! Staff were wonderful too! Highly recommend

We booked to stay here overnight as it was about a 10 minute drive from where our friends 40th birthday party was. The room was lovely and even came with complimentary breakfast in the room. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The only downfall would be there was a loud noise coming from the plumbing system when we arrived and it went off every 15 minutes which was quite irritating. However, we were only there to sleep and then travel home the next day so we didn’t mind. The other thing is there seems to be no taxis in the area we called 10 different phone numbers and they were either fully booked or didn’t come to sparkford. (Not complaining just giving information to people who consider staying here that are using it for a local event). Overall it was a lovely stay and we would stay here again if in the area.

I am currently spending the 2nd day in the hotels beautiful rooms and with my friends we have just eaten excellent food in short, great discoveries.

The one line description on the menu really understates the salads. I had the chicken and bacon, a full breast of nicely grilled chicken and really crispy, crunchy bacon topping a really tasty salad. Just regret not taking a picture.

Nice pub, just had a couple of beers so not sure about food.
