A bit gutted. I was really looking forward to taking to visitors here for brunch/ lunch. The only food available was roast lunch - no problem, roast beef or pork was fine by us. However, for £20/£22, you expect a seriously good roast. The gravy was basically stock water, the veg was just boiled greens and roasted roots, and the yorkshires were tiny. Pork was good but apparently the beef was tough and the portions were mean compared to any roast at any other eatery. Overall, it’s the kind of plate you’d expect at a Green King. The setting is lovely as ever and the coffee is excellent, but I honestly couldn’t recommend the food, especially at these prices.

a real disappointing meal. came for a sunday roast which firstly was on the pricier side. the kids roasts both were missing items. all of our meals were cold, the beef tough and inedible. the kids pork for a 1 year old had majority fat and crackling which no 1 year old will eat. the gravy was watery, and not one member of staff asked us at any point during the meal if everything was ok. what you get for the money was not worth it in my eyes. definitely wouldn't be returning for a sunday roast.

Starting with the positives, the cafe is beautifully decorated and the quesadillas were delicious. The menu is small and we were told the only two things left on the menu were quesadillas or burgers. Myself and my sister ordered 2 large wines and when delivered, they were accidentally tipped over us both. She apologised several times and went to get a tea towel to mop up while I went to the bathroom to drench my wine-soaked jeans with water. There were no hand towels in the bathroom so I went to find staff and ask for a tea towel. I couldn't find anyone initially then found the waitress in the shop area telling a colleague what happened. I assured her not to worry and accidents happen; it was her last day at the job too. I sat back down for lunch in my cold wet jeans with a teatowel to soak up. Chicken quesadillas were tasty although the red cabbage side did not work with them at all. Also for the price I was disappointed that when we asked for mayonnaise we were presented with cheap sachets. After that my sister went to pay and order some cakes. The waitress was confused that my sister wanted to pay before the cake arrived and apologised saying they didn't have any boxes for takeaway. My sister explained that we didn't want to take the away she just wanted to pay for them upfront so we could leave straight after. She brought up the tipping options on the screen, 15% or 20%. Considering the food options were minimal and over priced and we had wine spilt over us, she didn't think a 15% tip was appropriate and was looking for a 10% tip instead. She looked on the screen for an option to leave less but struggled momentarily because the option to leave 'custom gratuity' was quite small. In the 4 seconds that took, the waitress felt she should passive-aggressively repeat to my sister that she needed to choose a tip amount on the screen. She finally found the option to leave a custom tip although quite frankly, any wait staff who have to apologise profusely numerous times for spilling wine over you should be offering something compensatory, not getting aggy about a tip!

Arrived just after 12.30 for lunch. Fairly quiet with not a lot of people there. Waited for the waitress to finish chatting before she came over and perfunctory asked if we wanted food or coffee. We sat in the dining room overlooking the patio for nearly 20 minutes without any order being taken. When the waitress showed another couple in near us and just left without speaking to us we had had enough and got up to leave. The couple near us said they didn't blame us and weren't happy with their service either. Various things off the menu which was surprising as it was very quiet and quite early for lunch. Thought the menu was a bit pretentious and over priced. Lovely surroundings outside but won't be back.

Went here with my daughter for her birthday we only went for light lunch just as well as we were going out in the evening for dinner. Light lunch it was good need my daughter ordered sausage roll and halloumi fries I ordered a ciabatta. My daughters turned up after about 10 minutes. I was still waiting for my ciabatta 20 mins later. I asked the waitress who had taken our order she apologised. When it turned up it was rock hard I couldn’t get my knife through it and my daughter had almost finished her lunch. Not one member of staff came over to ask if all was ok as is normal in a cafe/restaurant. It wasn’t even over busy. I left 3/4 of my ciabatta nothing was said by staff when I paid. If it hadn’t of been my daughter’s birthday I would have complained and asked for a refund. Not impressed at all. Certainly very over priced. Another place that eventually could end up being a victim of its own success. Over priced and over rated. Shame went when it had just started up a few years ago when prices were fair and service was great. Won’t be rushing back

We have constantly supported this cafe over the last three years, enjoying the offerings of the previous owners and the current owners, enjoyed the food be it cake or brunch or lunch and have constantly given good reviews and recommended to many people. We live quite close to this restaurant/coffee shop, one of about 6 very good eating places in the area all offering different menus but always advertising to use local or their own produce. There have been changes along the way but always good. Yesterday we had a disappointing lunch. This cafe can produce amazing salad bowls, cakes, healthy dishes and great coffee and teas as well as soft drinks.. We were told some weeks ago that salads would be on the menu throughout the year, not just in the summer months as over the last couple of years. Twice now we have been and no salads. We therefore chose from a lunch menu. The burger choice was good apart from the very greasy burnt onion rings. The quesadilla choice with chicken was disappointing. Very greasy, frazzled around the edges, a little chopped avocado on the side, finely shredded red cabbage with lime juice called slaw and the filling was melted cheese with red kidney beans and a small chunk of chicken. Certainly not a healthy dish. The extra halloumi side dish to share was greasy and burnt. It was obviously not a good day. Several members of staff were visibly stressed. I am hoping Farm & Field read this review as they can certainly do much better than this, as it is usually such a good place to eat. We hear their new Sunday roast menu is very good and we will certainly try this at some point.

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful places to eat around the local area. The roast dinner experience was incredible, beautifully cooked meat, a wonderful variety of veg, tasty gravy and THE BEST roast potatoes I have ever had whilst eating out (I mean they beat mine too). So worth the trip.

Hadn't eaten here since the new owners. Love the new decor, coffee is always good which we come for on a regular basis. The breakfast was cooked nicely and presented well and I appreciate prices have increased alot, but feel the breakfast at £14 wasn't worth the money, 1 small sausage, 2 very small pieces of crispy streaky bacon, beans, mushrooms, 2 hash browns and half a Tom, scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, toast was hard, it had obviously been left under the hot lamp, the plate was very hot and the butter spread just melted to oil. It's such a shame because this is a wonderful location and the staff were very pleasant and chatty. One other comment (sorry) if you're asking customers to wait to be seated you need someone on the ball to watch for the arrival of customers, not leave customers waiting without being acknowledged and then the barista having to leave customers waiting for drinks whilst she shows others to the tables. We will continuing coming for coffee but probably not food, ending on a positive, it's great to see you no longer charge for oatmilk.

We were looking forward to visiting Farm and Field Café after after one of us had been after a park run back in October 2024 and had a great experience. We arrived having made an online booking to be told our reservation wasn't on the system, so showed our confirmation and waited for a 'walk in' table and were placed out of the way on a table for 6. The café didn't seem overly busy at the time of day we visited, so didn't anticipate long wait times. After ordering at the counter (with no receipt given), we waited for over 20 minutes before receiving two coffees, and over 50 minutes for our first food order to arrive, with the second served separately about 5 minutes later and was the wrong food. The member of staff left the table before we had a chance to note the wrong order, and we did not have time to wait potentially up to another hour for the correct order to be made. We weren't approached by any staff to check how the food was, so left feeling quite underwhelmed. We usually don't mind waiting for good quality food, but customers usually are told about particularly long waits at the time of ordering. The quality of ingredients and aesthetics were of a high standard, if not a little too complex for breakfast/ brunch. The facilities were really nice and can see a lot of effort has been made on the refit. The grounds were the highlight for us with plenty of space to walk. I rarely feedback, particularly when we haven't approached any staff at the time, however have been prompted by a pushed email following our booking. We just hope our feedback is useful moving forward to ensure a long and successful business. Slight improvements to attentiveness and communication around timings would go a long way.

We had a nice visit recently! We sadly had just missed the breakfast, but there was a delicious special for us to try- Cheesy Leek Rarebit! Decor is great, and the fact that it’s dog friendly is a huge bonus! Cakes looked so good, but we will have to come back to try! My only criticism is that we weren’t told about ordering at the bar, so we sat for ages thinking we were being ignored. Only until I asked at the bar. With someone hosting at the front all these details can be easily explained for first time visitors ensuring the perfect first visit!

We visited this cafe today as a family of 15, and the experience was fantastic! Despite our large party, the service provided by Amber was outstanding—she was attentive, efficient, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, and we were especially impressed with how well the kitchen handled our sizable order. Everything arrived piping hot, including our drinks, which is no small feat for a group our size. Overall, a great spot for breakfast with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. I visited Farm and Field Café recently and had a mixed experience. The staff were polite, attentive, and very efficient, which made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was lovely—relaxed and inviting, a perfect spot for catching up with friends after the local parkrun. The coffees were great, and the prices were reasonable. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food. I ordered the "Shrooms on Toast," and while the concept sounded fantastic, the salsa verde completely overpowered the dish, making it feel too fussy and complicated. Simpler flavours would have worked better for this dish. Overall, it’s a nice place with great service, but the food could benefit from a more balanced approach to flavours.

It's a lovely cafe- clearly a lot of attention has been paid to the ambience and decor. The food was OK, but there were one or two things that just let it down a bit. We waited more than half an hour, even after going up to the desk to to ask, for someone to even take a drinks order. In the end I had to go back to the desk ask they take my order because nobody was coming, which led to 2 hungry and grumpy children which put a dampener on things. The waiting staff were friendly enough but perhaps either need a bit more supervision or more of them for the number of covers. The food was OK, but honestly I wasn't overall that impressed. A shame because it's clearly a lovely spot and someone's working hard to make it a successful small business. Also, they need more than 2 toilets for a venue of that size. Some small family friendly changes like colouring or activity shelf would go a long way.

We visited lunch time with our two labradoodles. Very impressed with this establishment. Our first visit. Took our fur babies for a lead walk around the lake. Very tranquil. The gardens are lovely. Then went into lunch. The waitress was really polite, cheerful and helpful throughout our lunch. The layout and decor of the premises were very impressive. Now the lunch - we both had the BLT with chips (which are served in a mini basket). Without doubt the best chips I have ever tasted! The BLT was very tasty although somewhat difficult to eat with all the layers. We cut it up to eat it. The lattes were also delicious. We will definitely return again. Thank you. 🤩

We used to go to Farm and Field at least 3 times a month but since its recent ‘refurb’ it has gone downhill. The staff seem less invested, the prices have increased excessively and the food quality has deteriorated. This morning when I asked for a sausage sandwich, I was told it wasn’t on the menu; only after pushing did the server ‘ask the kitchen’ who said they could do it but presented me with a dry sandwich with no butter in a cardboard box rather than on a plate. 2 dry sausage sandwiches and 2 black coffees was £21 which I feel is excessive for the self-service style café. It’s a shame as we used to love it but will not be returning.

We have been regular users of the snack shack / cafe after the Saturday morning ‘Park Run’. Not so long ago, the farm provided a reasonably priced bacon bap and coffee for £5. Today we paid more than double. £10 for a mediocre bacon roll and coffee is extortionate!! Suffice to say, we will not be returning as despite our loyal custom, we cannot afford to pay these ridiculous prices and will be looking elsewhere for an after run drink / snack.

This is the first time I have visited the Farm and Field cafe in a long time. Wow what a transformation! From chaotic, overly complicated and poorly organised it has reinvented itself to professional, slick and relaxing. Our brunch was absolutely delicious and made from clearly high quality ingredients. The atmosphere was light, calm and relaxing - a world away from how it once was. The log burner set the atmosphere on a bitterly cold December day but it was also warm and cosy in the glass fronted restaurant. All of the cakes and pastries set out in a simple and uncluttered way behind the glass counter looked delicious and appealing. A glimpse into the kitchen allowed my chef daughter and my catering manager self reassurance that it was also clean, organised and uncluttered, an indication of the hygiene standards we both crave. I really can’t fault it and will definitely be booking again soon.

We came for the winter wonderland and Christmas stall event on 20/12. Completely disappointed! We went in to the white barn which had very few Christmas decorations, and even fewer stalls. Outside of the barn was ONE food stall selling six different items (all completely overpriced and just as disappointing). We went for the loaded roasties £9 and pigs in blankets £7. We were told that there would be a SHORT wait for the pigs in blankets and were handed our potatoes. We then proceeded to wait 20 MINUTES for the pigs in blankets. The man serving put five sausages in each pot and started giving them out to people waiting. Before we were handed ours (that we had been waiting 20 minutes for) he ran out! By this point our potatoes were STONE cold and the cardboard box they were served in had gone soggy and floppy. We were walking back over to the order window with our soggy, gravy soaked box of potatoes when a nice girl came out from the cafe. She asked if everything was ok and we told her we were still wait in on our pigs in blankets, she said that she would grab some from the cafe for us. She went back inside and we waited for another five minutes at least. She came back out with our sausages and we thanked her. Upon further inspection we only received three pigs in blankets and one un blanketed pig, when everyone else received five. At this point we were thoroughly disappointed and cold so we got back in the car to rehear our sad potatoes at home. We opened the box and discovered that ALL the gravy had been soaked up by the cardboard so we put them in the oven for ten minutes and made more gravy. I have to say the pulled turkey was rather nice, but everything else had been ruined by the wet and horribly bitter tasting stuffing. Really disappointing when you have been promised “an abundance of food options for you all from food stalls to our amazing cafe serving some of our Christmas favoruites such as the Loaded Christmas Roasties!!!” And a “courtyard filled with snow and festive lights showcasing live performances and entertainment from local groups” When in fact the courtyard had one food stall, one sweet hut and some sad foam snow that had turned into a pile of smeary mud.

Disappointing experience today. Food is ok, albeit a little overpriced, but service is poor. Very long wait for food and drinks. Terrible acoustics in new restaurant area (which used to be the cafe area and is better suited for that!) made for a noisy and unpleasant atmosphere. Work not finished in restaurant area - there is a fairly big section of the room with no flooring, meaning tables are crammed in. We were seated in the restaurant area which is supposed to be table service and then asked to pay at the counter - no table number to quote made it a more difficult process than it should have been. Overall disappointing, I have been visiting farm and field for years now and at one time was a very regular customer. Sadly over the years I have witnessed a decline in quality and standards and have visited less and less often as time has passed. Such a shame, I certainly won’t be back in a hurry.

I did write privately but got no response so here is my review. ‘ Good morning, I’ve been sent an email requesting feedback on my visit. I wanted to do this privately as we didn’t have a good experience. We booked a table for 11am. We’d heard such good things so we were happy to drive for an hour to get to you. When we arrived the waitress at the door said hello and said she’d be with us on a minute. She then continued a conversation with another waitress about an order for another table that was being placed. We waited approx. 8 mins until she’d finished her conversation. We were seated at our table then waited about 10 mins for a waitress to acknowledge us. No one told us breakfast finished at 11am. Granted we could have looked it up prior to our visit, but out of courtesy it could have been mentioned. We ordered and waited another 10 mins at least for our drinks. By the time our food came we’d finished our drinks. No one came to check if the food was ok or ask if we wanted any more drinks. There didn’t seem to be anyone in charge. All the waitresses were young, polite but didn’t have the skills to know how to look after customers. We ordered avocado on toast. Looks wise it was appealing but there was just too much going on, too many flavours on the plate. The restaurant did seem clean but there was quite a few wasps that the staff didn’t seem to care about even though I saw at least one customer freaking out about. Additionally behind the fire exit sign at the door there were cobwebs, a large spider and dead flies, not what you want to be looking at when you’re eating. We won’t be returning or recommending. Sorry. I did try to highlight this visit privately on instagram but got no response.

Fantastic service and food was delicious. Staff were accomadating and friendly. My only observation, was that a latte wasn't made with oat milk as requested.

Read some poor reviews on TripAdvisor so were a bit reticent about visiting, but we found the place to be very welcoming, bright and clean. We had coffee and cakes a few days ago first, and that was excellent and the service fast and friendly. This morning we had breakfast in the main restaurant with a couple of friends and all enjoyed the experience, The breakfast was delicious and well cooked and there were always staff on hand when we wanted to add to our order, The restaurant was very full, which made it a little noisy. The park, pond and garden area are beautiful too and will worth a visit.

Having been many times previously the menu choice was disappointing for breakfast not as varied as it was before. Coffee remains great and the service was too.

Lovely cafe which we stumbled across. Very clean and tidy place. Ideal for kids as a brilliant children's menu. Adults food menu means I will be revisiting to try more things! Ample free parking and play area nearby.

The grounds are looking really pretty and enjoyed our walk around the site The cafe could do with a deep clean. Menus came out incomplete. Service and attention to detail have deteriorated since last visit.

Long wait to be seated despite booking online. Left feeling unimportant. Staff are young and sweet but seem to lack leadership to deliver really good quality customer service. Coffees were slow.

Booked and arrived on time but waited ten minutes for anyone to come to the table and take our order. Then waited over 30 minutes for food which seemed unreasonable consider how busy it was. I had to go and ask the woman who seemed to be in charged and told her we had been then over 40 minutes (which with a toddler is hard!) she went to check in the kitchen and came back to the table and “corrected” me, saying it had actually been 30 minutes since our order was placed (still too long in my opinion) and that food would be out shortly. Breakfasts all arrived missing bacon, so I had to call them over again. They then brought out what can only be described and raw, inedible, fatty streaky bacon. All in all, not a good experience which is a real shame as I had been there for coffee and cake with friend over a year ago and it was fine

Not a great experience. Booked a table for 3, food and drink is overpriced for what you get, took a long time for our order to arrive (which was only sausage roll and chips) the chips were luke warm. Sat under the covered terrace area and there was someone nearby smoking - there needs to be signs up in this area stating no smoking, I went and told the staff who did go and politely tell the individual but then 20 minutes or so later when the individual (female)was walking our table by they came up and verbally abused me! Asking why I didn't speak directly to them instead of speaking to the staff - she was extremely rude to me. I don't think I will return to this venue again and probably wouldn't recommend it either however having said all this the cakes looked lovely - in hindsight we probably should have just had coffee and cake and sat inside as this hopefully would have been a better experience!

Several members of our family have become regular visitors to this restaurant. Our table was booked on a visit for lunch the following week. On our hostess on the day was very attentive, but was clearly multi tasking lots of roles as I had to ask her to come and take our order. The drinks were organised while we waited for the last two members of our group. We were given a selection of menus including the specials. My husband struggled to select a Choice, but decided on the plaice goujons only to told the specials menu wasn’t available apparently this was an over sight. I had been informed at the booking the menu’s were subject to regular change, but not that it was completely off on some days. Inside the restaurant is very attractive, but it has a high acoustics level it reminded me of a canteen on this occasion. The doors were open allowing lots of flies in ,which the staff commented it was very annoying. In the end my grandchildren covered their food with their napkins to stop the flies landing on their plates. The outside area is very pleasant, but only half the area has sun protection provided which is really not acceptable for young and old on busy hot sunny days. All in all it’s a lovely friendly modern environment, but I believe the above should be addressed. The bill was just under £80 for 3 adults 3 children eating one course and sharing several bottles juice.

Used to be lovely, but there are always issues nowadays. Unhelpful staff that honestly don't care if you're unhappy with your experience. I think the new manager needs some customer service training perhaps. They're always running out of dishes on the menu. It's always been vastly overpriced but we never minded that much as it was a nice experience with a good atmosphere. But now it's not worth the price. One thing that really irritates me about this place is that there are always empty tables inside that aren't available to book online, yet when you arrive and sit outside the cafe remains empty the whole time. It's like they don't want people to sit inside which is really odd.

The food took a long time to arrive from the kitchen but well worth the wait. The portion sizes were generous and very tasty (although not entirely convinced that the pork and apple burger needed cinnamon) Attention to cleaning is needed, lots of cobwebs especially above head height and behind exit signs and on lighting cables above the counter

Service was attentive and food although it took a long time was tasty. We were offered another round of drinks because of the wait. It was ashame that I’d booked the restaurant and was put in the cafe area. There was also a wait whilst the table was cleared. The main issue was the amount of flies in the cafe area. They were everywhere and spoilt the atmosphere.

We were disappointed actually. Had booked, and lunch in restaurant. The service was great, but the food and wait not so much. Also it was very noisy - large echoey space that did not lend itself to peaceful dining. My sister had the salmon, which was lovely piece but sat on a huge bowl of noodles, which was most of the dish, therefore expensive at £15 plus. Would have been so much nicer if other things had been included vegetables etc mixed in. Seemed dull. I had Caesar salad and they accommodated a half portion for me which I appreciated, but Caesar salad should not have cherry tomatoes in it, and the chicken was very dry. So no. Will not be back. Sorry.

I am a delivery driver for Lievito Bakery and have delivered here many times. I said to my wife we must go there it looks fabulous. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed and seated, given our menus and drinks orders taken. My wife chose the Avo on sourdough and I chose the Burger. The food was the best we’ve had in a long while it was fabulous, well done chef. The service and the whole experience was brilliant. There was a Wedding at the same time and the grounds were manicured. A great experience and highly recommended.

Stopped on the way back from Cornwall. The food is incredible and as a dairy allergic guy they were able to cope with all of that with a great variety on offer. And the lemon cake was amazing!!!

We went to the Greek evening however very disappointed by an empty restaurant and no Greek theme at all! It was just like sitting in a cafe and thought it was a proper Greek evening. As for the food it was ok but very overpriced and have had better. I have been here many times and it seems to have gone downhill over the last year! Shame! 😢

We checked out the menu a couple weeks ago and it looked amazing. We arrived this weekend and unfortunately the menu has been reduced and is a lot more basic than we expected, we were a bit disappointed! The food was mostly pretty good with the exception of a pork burger that was still raw in the middle. The staff were apologetic and took it back to the kitchen to be cooked again. In all, staff were friendly and helpful but we weren't impressed with the food, probably won't be back anytime soon.

Visited for lunch. Menu is crazy. You can’t get a simple meal. Everything is complex- nothing for those who need something straightforward, except a burger. This place gives the impression of being green and ethical but I think not. The decor was interesting. You can book a central booth if you pay up front - it’s festooned in flowers but they’re plastic! One of our party ordered a dish which was advertised as dairy free but came loaded with cheese. They replaced the fish but it took ages and he ended up eating after we’d finished. No reduction to the bill. I really didn’t like this place. Mainly because the staff weren’t friendly, there was nothing on the menu I would choose and it purports to be green/ethical but this lacks substance. Won’t be returning.

Great food and service. However have rated down as we were able to book a table for the restaurant for 2pm earlier in the week and when we arrived were told the kitchen was now closing at 2pm so we could only eat from the deli not the main menu. We actually were seated at 1.50. When I queried this I was told the manager was updating the website. Surely our booking could have been accommodated if done before the website was changed. Alternatively, it would have been polite for someone to call and pre-warn us rather than assume we would be happy with a deli snack. We had travelled here specifically for a meal.

Doesn't deserve a 1 star . Absolutely shocking. A group of us booked for dinner. Orders taken twice and still got it wrong. We eneded up being screamed at by the landlady and plates were snatched away whilst trying to eat .then a full on screaming session in the middle of the pub. We all left but still had a barrage of abuse whilst being recorded at the door and being blamed for setting off the landlady's ptsd. Shocking way t talk to customers. Avoid at all cost !!!

Food is expensive, but quality ingredients and good portions. The chapel environment is lovey and we enjoyed our visit overall. I think the timing of their service could do with some guidance. We sat down and were given our menus and then approached order in less than 5 minutes to order which felt very rushed. Then we finished all food and it was nearly 40 minutes by the time we actually left because we had to wait 25 minutes for the bill, whilst all sort of wide-eyed, knives and forks finished trying to catch the server's attention. Then once we had the bill having to actually get up to find a server to ask if we could pay 15 minutes later. It just makes it a little bit awkward and clunky, especially when they weren't busy and there were plenty of servers moving around. If you're going to charge the prices you charge, in such a pleasant environment I do think that the service should match.

The landlady of this pub is extremely rude and a really nasty person! I parked in this pubs car park as I was attending an event close by and couldn’t find any parking anywhere. I unfortunately missed a sign reading patrons only to park here as it was dark and there was no light above it. I wasn’t expecting to be parked there long and was planning on popping in there for a drink afterwards. Unfortunately the event ran on for longer than I had thought it would and as I have my young daughter with me, I didn’t have time to pop in there as I had to get her home. The landlady blocked the car park exit and started shouting abuse at me through my window. When I opened the window and thanked her for allowing me to park there and apologise for not seeing the sign she called me a s**g and a b***h. My daughter was upset about this and was scared of the woman shouting abuse! I am absolutely appalled by the behaviour this woman displayed. I will now never visit this establishment and will be taking it further. There was absolutely no reason for this disgusting and intimidating behaviour and I’m surprised ratings aren’t lower for this pub.
