Farm and Field cafe in South Somerset

Had a lovely first visit here. All the staff was very friendly. It has a great atmosphere and the food wad fantastic. I will be back in the near future.

Excellent sandwiches, three of us visted for lunch as working nearby, all 3 of us said some of the best sandwiches ever tasted. Lemon chicken and new York deli we had. Staff also.loveky and nicely decorated

A gorgeous cafe & restaurant with stunning views. I came for a Halloween themed quiz & since this one, they’re going to do monthly quizzes now. The food is delicious, you can eat in or takeaway. I had the loaded curly fries which were so tasty and filling (£16, worth every penny). The staff in the cafe are all lovely, friendly people who will go the extra mile to make sure customers are happy. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. The atmosphere is brilliant - the decor is so creative with plants and wall art. There is also a beautiful wedding venue next door to the cafe which is part of the same business. A stunning, large open space with an upstairs balcony and gorgeous views. It’s clear they’ve recently touched up the place and look after it as the toilets are so modern and clean.

Disappointing experience today. Food is ok, albeit a little overpriced, but service is poor. Very long wait for food and drinks. Terrible acoustics in new restaurant area (which used to be the cafe area and is better suited for that!) made for a noisy and unpleasant atmosphere. Work not finished in restaurant area - there is a fairly big section of the room with no flooring, meaning tables are crammed in. We were seated in the restaurant area which is supposed to be table service and then asked to pay at the counter - no table number to quote made it a more difficult process than it should have been. Overall disappointing, I have been visiting farm and field for years now and at one time was a very regular customer. Sadly over the years I have witnessed a decline in quality and standards and have visited less and less often as time has passed. Such a shame, I certainly won’t be back in a hurry.

Lovely food, good service in a lovely venue. The food is arguably slightly overpriced, but is of good quality.

Beautiful setting , food was amazing and well presented , great value and brilliant service . Lots of yummy things to choose from too. Cake and sandwich counter well stocked too . Highly recommend 😃

Lovely venue, easy to find with huge car park. The friendly attentive staff and excellent food, makes this a very easy recommendation to anyone looking for a great pace to eat!

I booked a table several weeks ago as there were 9 of us. We arrived 10 mins early and the table hadn't been reserved or set up. Luckily there were two tables vacant which were put together for us but if it had been busier this wouldn't have been possible. I got email reminders of the booking and had to reconfirm the day before so I was disappointed that the table hadn't been reserved for us. Other than this everything was good and we had a great time.

Good farm shop for lunch. Cannot fault the quality of the food. I had the ramen bowl and it was delicious. However, the service was somewhat chaos. When a cafe has to come out numerous times and keep asking if you have had everything you ordered then you know their system is a little broken.

I used to visit regularly but over the last 3 visits I've noticed a real deterioration. Menu has been significantly reduced and wait times are long for food. Always been quite pricey but some options feel really stingy now (over £8 for a dry breakfast roll with two items in it?). Coffee still really good but due to the above probably won't visit for food again. Staff are lovely but overall sad to see how it has changed since we first visited a few years ago.

Although lovely, the gluten free flapjack was extremely sugary. This was agreed by the 3-4 people in our party that had it. The chocolate brownie was perfect. The iced americano was not nice, and as a result, my wife did not drink it. The service was good but we did keep getting brought out food that we hadn’t ordered.

Food and coffee was great, was unable to order breakfast / lunch if we didn’t pre book. Was made to sit outside on a wet and cold morning as we didn’t book in advance, service was good. I think the thing to keep in mind is pre-book.

The best sausage rolls ever! Can never fault it here, quick service tasty food and a nice setting and walk around the grounds. Plus a new addition of a Nutella Mocha… omg what a find! 😍

The food was lovely but the breakfast choice was significantly reduced from previous visits with no simple egg options or tater tots. The atmosphere was slightly marred by a vast stream of park runners coming in and out to get takeaways, leaving the door open continually and queuing throughout the front of the café at one point. I understand this is good business for the café but it definitely detracted from our experience and we will avoid Saturday mornings in future and check the menu in advance next time too for better choice.

Lovely brunch and lunch, friendly staff, gorgeous grounds to stroll around. Will be back.

Great breakfast lovely coffee and really nice helpful staff

Our party came to F&F from; Sherborne, Salisbury, Weymouth, Chetnole and Barrington, some for the first time. The booking was easy on line, the staff front of shop were welcoming and courteous, and the team gave us enough time to settle before asking for our order. Orders were delivered close enough together so as not to have a steady stream of orders, which in the age of Commercial Coffee Makers and choices prolong’s the delivery, well done the F&F team. We will come again.

Very beautiful place, not only to eat, but also to have a relaxing walk. Tidy, well looked after. Food tastes amazing.

Can’t fault this place service was very good, however the meal we had whilst very tasty seemed to have a lot of vinegar on it which we didn’t like we appreciate that lots of people would love it as they say you can’t please everyone but over all a very lovely meal.

Fantastic service and food was delicious. Staff were accomadating and friendly. My only observation, was that a latte wasn't made with oat milk as requested.

I did write privately but got no response so here is my review. ‘ Good morning, I’ve been sent an email requesting feedback on my visit. I wanted to do this privately as we didn’t have a good experience. We booked a table for 11am. We’d heard such good things so we were happy to drive for an hour to get to you. When we arrived the waitress at the door said hello and said she’d be with us on a minute. She then continued a conversation with another waitress about an order for another table that was being placed. We waited approx. 8 mins until she’d finished her conversation. We were seated at our table then waited about 10 mins for a waitress to acknowledge us. No one told us breakfast finished at 11am. Granted we could have looked it up prior to our visit, but out of courtesy it could have been mentioned. We ordered and waited another 10 mins at least for our drinks. By the time our food came we’d finished our drinks. No one came to check if the food was ok or ask if we wanted any more drinks. There didn’t seem to be anyone in charge. All the waitresses were young, polite but didn’t have the skills to know how to look after customers. We ordered avocado on toast. Looks wise it was appealing but there was just too much going on, too many flavours on the plate. The restaurant did seem clean but there was quite a few wasps that the staff didn’t seem to care about even though I saw at least one customer freaking out about. Additionally behind the fire exit sign at the door there were cobwebs, a large spider and dead flies, not what you want to be looking at when you’re eating. We won’t be returning or recommending. Sorry. I did try to highlight this visit privately on instagram but got no response.

Read some poor reviews on TripAdvisor so were a bit reticent about visiting, but we found the place to be very welcoming, bright and clean. We had coffee and cakes a few days ago first, and that was excellent and the service fast and friendly. This morning we had breakfast in the main restaurant with a couple of friends and all enjoyed the experience, The breakfast was delicious and well cooked and there were always staff on hand when we wanted to add to our order, The restaurant was very full, which made it a little noisy. The park, pond and garden area are beautiful too and will worth a visit.

Having been many times previously the menu choice was disappointing for breakfast not as varied as it was before. Coffee remains great and the service was too.

Lovely cafe which we stumbled across. Very clean and tidy place. Ideal for kids as a brilliant children's menu. Adults food menu means I will be revisiting to try more things! Ample free parking and play area nearby.

The grounds are looking really pretty and enjoyed our walk around the site The cafe could do with a deep clean. Menus came out incomplete. Service and attention to detail have deteriorated since last visit.

Long wait to be seated despite booking online. Left feeling unimportant. Staff are young and sweet but seem to lack leadership to deliver really good quality customer service. Coffees were slow.

Booked and arrived on time but waited ten minutes for anyone to come to the table and take our order. Then waited over 30 minutes for food which seemed unreasonable consider how busy it was. I had to go and ask the woman who seemed to be in charged and told her we had been then over 40 minutes (which with a toddler is hard!) she went to check in the kitchen and came back to the table and “corrected” me, saying it had actually been 30 minutes since our order was placed (still too long in my opinion) and that food would be out shortly. Breakfasts all arrived missing bacon, so I had to call them over again. They then brought out what can only be described and raw, inedible, fatty streaky bacon. All in all, not a good experience which is a real shame as I had been there for coffee and cake with friend over a year ago and it was fine

Several members of our family have become regular visitors to this restaurant. Our table was booked on a visit for lunch the following week. On our hostess on the day was very attentive, but was clearly multi tasking lots of roles as I had to ask her to come and take our order.The drinks were organised while we waited for the last two members of our group. We were given a selection of menus including the specials.My husband struggled to select a Choice, but decided on the plaice goujons only to told the specials menu wasn’t available apparently this was an over sight. I had been informed at the booking the menu’s were subject to regular change, but not that it was completely off on some days. Inside the restaurant is very attractive, but it has a high acoustics level it reminded me of a canteen on this occasion.The doors were open allowing lots of flies in ,which the staff commented it was very annoying.In the end my grandchildren covered their food with their napkins to stop the flies landing on their plates. The outside area is very pleasant, but only half the area has sun protection provided which is really not acceptable for young and old on busy hot sunny days. All in all it’s a lovely friendly modern environment, but I believe the above should be addressed. The bill was just under £80 for 3 adults 3 children eating one course and sharing several bottles juice.

Not a great experience. Booked a table for 3, food and drink is overpriced for what you get, took a long time for our order to arrive (which was only sausage roll and chips) the chips were luke warm. Sat under the covered terrace area and there was someone nearby smoking - there needs to be signs up in this area stating no smoking, I went and told the staff who did go and politely tell the individual but then 20 minutes or so later when the individual (female)was walking our table by they came up and verbally abused me! Asking why I didn't speak directly to them instead of speaking to the staff - she was extremely rude to me. I don't think I will return to this venue again and probably wouldn't recommend it either however having said all this the cakes looked lovely - in hindsight we probably should have just had coffee and cake and sat inside as this hopefully would have been a better experience!

Used to be lovely, but there are always issues nowadays. Unhelpful staff that honestly don't care if you're unhappy with your experience. I think the new manager needs some customer service training perhaps. They're always running out of dishes on the menu. It's always been vastly overpriced but we never minded that much as it was a nice experience with a good atmosphere. But now it's not worth the price. One thing that really irritates me about this place is that there are always empty tables inside that aren't available to book online, yet when you arrive and sit outside the cafe remains empty the whole time. It's like they don't want people to sit inside which is really odd.

The food took a long time to arrive from the kitchen but well worth the wait. The portion sizes were generous and very tasty (although not entirely convinced that the pork and apple burger needed cinnamon) Attention to cleaning is needed, lots of cobwebs especially above head height and behind exit signs and on lighting cables above the counter

Service was attentive and food although it took a long time was tasty. We were offered another round of drinks because of the wait. It was ashame that I’d booked the restaurant and was put in the cafe area. There was also a wait whilst the table was cleared. The main issue was the amount of flies in the cafe area. They were everywhere and spoilt the atmosphere.

Popped in for a late coffee, really nice place, clean, pleasant and good sized cake. The olives were an added bonus.

We were disappointed actually. Had booked, and lunch in restaurant. The service was great, but the food and wait not so much. Also it was very noisy - large echoey space that did not lend itself to peaceful dining. My sister had the salmon, which was lovely piece but sat on a huge bowl of noodles, which was most of the dish, therefore expensive at £15 plus. Would have been so much nicer if other things had been included vegetables etc mixed in. Seemed dull. I had Caesar salad and they accommodated a half portion for me which I appreciated, but Caesar salad should not have cherry tomatoes in it, and the chicken was very dry. So no. Will not be back. Sorry.

I am a delivery driver for Lievito Bakery and have delivered here many times. I said to my wife we must go there it looks fabulous. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed and seated, given our menus and drinks orders taken. My wife chose the Avo on sourdough and I chose the Burger. The food was the best we’ve had in a long while it was fabulous, well done chef. The service and the whole experience was brilliant. There was a Wedding at the same time and the grounds were manicured. A great experience and highly recommended.

Amazing food and service. We previously enjoyed the Chinese themed evening so we had to try the Greek theme and it didn't disappoint

Stopped on the way back from Cornwall. The food is incredible and as a dairy allergic guy they were able to cope with all of that with a great variety on offer. And the lemon cake was amazing!!!

We went to the Greek evening however very disappointed by an empty restaurant and no Greek theme at all! It was just like sitting in a cafe and thought it was a proper Greek evening. As for the food it was ok but very overpriced and have had better. I have been here many times and it seems to have gone downhill over the last year! Shame! 😢

Lovely breakfast and friendly staff.

We checked out the menu a couple weeks ago and it looked amazing. We arrived this weekend and unfortunately the menu has been reduced and is a lot more basic than we expected, we were a bit disappointed! The food was mostly pretty good with the exception of a pork burger that was still raw in the middle. The staff were apologetic and took it back to the kitchen to be cooked again. In all, staff were friendly and helpful but we weren't impressed with the food, probably won't be back anytime soon.

Visited for lunch. Menu is crazy. You can’t get a simple meal. Everything is complex- nothing for those who need something straightforward, except a burger. This place gives the impression of being green and ethical but I think not. The decor was interesting. You can book a central booth if you pay up front - it’s festooned in flowers but they’re plastic! One of our party ordered a dish which was advertised as dairy free but came loaded with cheese. They replaced the fish but it took ages and he ended up eating after we’d finished. No reduction to the bill. I really didn’t like this place. Mainly because the staff weren’t friendly, there was nothing on the menu I would choose and it purports to be green/ethical but this lacks substance. Won’t be returning.

Great food and service. However have rated down as we were able to book a table for the restaurant for 2pm earlier in the week and when we arrived were told the kitchen was now closing at 2pm so we could only eat from the deli not the main menu. We actually were seated at 1.50. When I queried this I was told the manager was updating the website. Surely our booking could have been accommodated if done before the website was changed. Alternatively, it would have been polite for someone to call and pre-warn us rather than assume we would be happy with a deli snack. We had travelled here specifically for a meal.

The food was fine - my avo on toast wasn’t great tbh, the avo was tasteless… the burger was ok bit definitely not worth £17. Service so slow…..

Outstanding place. The meal was really good. Familiar favorites on the menu. Enjoy the burgers, wraps and pizzas. The drinks are great as well. Farm and Field Cafe is excellent.

I never complain and I have never left a negative review but I feel as if I have to. Farm and field has gone downhill over the past year or so. Used to be a really nice atmosphere and great veggie options. Now they always seem to have run out of veggie stuff and we feel unwelcome and an afterthought. We just went for breakfast and had booked in advance for a birthday meal. We had to book outside as the inside was apparently fully booked, which is fine in itself, but the whole time we were there the inside was completely empty. We asked twice of we could move but we're told we couldn't. Just after ordering we were suddenly surrounded with around 80 wedding guests crammed in the undercover outside area, which again is OK in itself, but all the guests were standing around our table and being so loud that we couldn't hear the staff when they were trying to talk to us or each other. We asked again if we could move inside to one of the many empty tables so we weren't crashing the wedding party but they refused. All the guests were looking at us as if we shouldn't have been there and to be honest, we shouldn't have been. Especially when there were plenty of other tables which were empty for our entire visit. We have been regular customers over the past couple of years but will not be coming here again if we are going to be crashing a wedding.

Service very slow and took a while for them to even take our order, however the breakfast itself was very good.

Our party of 5 waited 20 minutes before the waitress came over to take our order! Then 45 minutes for it to arrive. The menu said you could order breakfast Mon-Frid. A lady ordered it one and a half hours before the cut off time and was told the menu time was wrong so she couldn't order it. She is a small eater and that was the only thing that came in small portions. We had booked the table well in advance and it was a Friday. Poor service.

Expensive just warm cappuccino..place needs an update.

Food is splendid. The meal was wonderfully prepared and tasted great. Excellent location for brunch or breakfast. The coffee was good too. The restaurant has a beautiful interior. Farm and field cafe is magnificent.

We had a lovely time - I think it would of been nice to of been offered another drink or asked if we wanted cake soon after we had finished our mains - rather than when we were ready to leave. Thanks again.

20 of us came along for lunch last Saturday to celebrate imminent baby arrival. Thank to all staff who made us feel very welcome. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I am sure we will all be making return visits. Thank you to Holly for arranging all the table flowers for everyone and the central arrangement. Your help and advice was much appreciated. The tables looked fabulous. Thank you to everyone concerned. A lovely event.

Farm and Field Cafe is amazing for brunch. The pancakes, mushroom on toast, farm breakfast and bbq beef smash burger. Great restaurant.

A really lovely cafe, and a great place to stop for a post-Parkrun drink and bit of cake. There was a good selection of both drinks and cakes, and the hot food menu look good too. The only downside was that it felt expensive - we had 3 coffees, 3 milkshakes and 4 bits of cake and a bill of over £40. That is the way of things at the moment, though, and you are getting quality for the cost in a beautiful location so worth it as a treat.

The food used to be great but now the menu did not gave much of a choice, I really miss the pancakes with peach or with different fruits. Waiting time is quite long

The food was absolutely delicious so I've already recommended you to friends and contacts. The service was however not really up to standard. The staff were warm and friendly but ....... we weren't informed we needed to order at the bar when we were given our menus, we waited 45 mins for our food to come out with no updates as to where it was and why it was taking so long; and despite various members of staff passing our table during our wait we weren't even offered a glass of water, which was rather disappointing. That said the food and atmosphere was so great that I shall be returning and recommending you to friends who aren't on a tight timeframe.

We have to wait a little while for our food, but that was understandable as it was very busy at the time. We did feel that the prices were a bit steep, the Quality of the food was excellent.

My family and I visited the Farm and enjoyed a lovely visit- looking at the lake and well tended gardens. Sadly the Farm Cafe spoilt our experience and I regret to say we will probably not return again. We were kept waiting for 40 minutes with two children for our food to arrive - being the only people in the cafe I was not impressed? The pasties were served cold and the chips were like eating warm cardboard? The mimi pancakes were obviously warmed direct from the freezer in a microwave oven. The texture was awful? My wife had the chicken salad - she enjoyed her meal. The staff were in my opinion very slow and disorganised - I speak with catering experience. I truly regret having to leave such a review but things need to be greatly improved. Jim Pike

Beautiful setting, attentive staff and delicious food!

It seems you have to book a few days in advance to be able to eat here, after failing multiple times because they are unable to accommodate walk-ins even though half the tables are empty. That said the food is excellent and there are regular updates to the menu.

We loved the restaurant so much we booked our wedding here ! Brilliant food everytime and a great setting to bring family and friends along.

Tried getting food here on Saturday and then Sunday, both times despite being quiet ‘the kitchen was fully booked’

Hi there - we love your place and always want to visit whenever we have visitors, of fancy food and a stroll - your food is wonderful and the outside environment and walks are beautiful....unfortunately, this time, the service was a little challenged! We were initially told that they couldn't take orders yet as the chef is inundated - and the waitress went off to find out the situation...this seemed a little odd as we had booked a table and it was only 12.30. Another waitress came and said the same...we asked her how long - and she then left to find out, like the first one did! After a little wait one of them returned and said it would be about 20mins...which is a perfectly reasonable wait and really didn't need all that fuss - which unsettled the older member of our party. One of them then returned to take our order, and unfortunately there were things unavailable - which it would have been helpful to know upon arrival - as, again, this creates disappointment which could have been easily avoided with simple communication at the start. We then discovered they'd run out of eggs - which, again seems a little odd at 12.30 with a table booking...had we just turned up out of the blue and been squeezed in, some of these things would be more understandable - but not with a booking - and so early on a peak day. It's such a shame as all of these things could have been greatly eased with good communication and people skills - which were, I'm afraid thoroughly lacking. The young waitresses seemed quite out of their depth over these, pretty foundational things - though the omission to mention menu changes at the start, wasn't theirs. The food - as always - was beautiful (although pea shoots missing - so, again - simple communication or a note on the menu that garnish etc will be seasonal/varied with availability). Compliments to the chef. I strongly recommend these things are addressed as I have witnessed things like this spreading like wildfire amongst certain demographics of the area - which you do not need - and I, personally, want to support anyone using local produce, ethical sourcing and quality wholefoods - which I feel you do...I mean you're the first place I've been to, other than festivals, who offer Dirtea! Amazing! Your space, ethos and food are wonderful - bring some magic to the atmosphere and the service and you will have nailed it. (sigh....i should probably mention, too, that all of us, independently, felt that the menu is hard to read....some styling would help). All this said - I'm not going anywhere - I'm rooting for you to thrive. Very best wishes Lydia

Very disappointed with the lack of customer service. Arrived and were told there were no tables available, so booked online where there was plenty of availability. Then when we signed in with our reservation we were told we could not have any hot food, even though the kitchen closed at 2pm and it was 1.45pm at this point. Not the first time we’ve had bad customer service here but I’ve given the staff the benefit of the doubt the past few time but unless things change radically with staffing or training the staff on good hospitality we won’t be returning. I’m not the only one in my friendship who has had this experience either.

Very disappointing I used to love the food and had beautiful breakfasts before but my poached eggs were horrible undercooked even tho told how I like which never had issues in the past always were on point! then asked could I have another egg as I. Can’t have undercooked eggs 🤢 but eggs came exactly like before put me off totally it’s a shame I think chef must have changed 🤷🏻‍♀️ My experience in the past were brilliant Food , Staff , atmosphere was great sadly it’s not the same

It was our wedding anniversary and we thought we would start the day by having a very special breakfast. On arrival despite many staff wondering around it took over ten minutes for our order to be taken, then a further forty minutes for our meal to arrive. Even though they had only been open 90 minutes, and the restaurant was not busy, I was told they had run out of beans so my fried breakfast contained an extra egg as compensation to add to the existing two on the plate, all of which were very small in size. The bacon consisted of one strip of over cooked streaky and the hash brown was of the frozen variety. The sausage was good though. My wife's pancakes arrived cold, rubbery in texture and tough to eat. They were topped with halved strawberries with the hulls still left on. Despite the excess of staff, not one approached us to ask if we were satisfied with our meal. On mentioning that I wasn't satisfied I was offered an apology by the girl on the till, but no compensation. We left very disappointed and needless to say we will spread the word, will not be returning.

Had a lovely lunch today, first time coming for mum and sister and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and location.

cake was lovely, tea pots definitely too small sadly. Service was good though could have done with a smilier greeting when first ordered. Atmosphere was nice, calm.

Great Friday night Mexican food. Staff, as always, are friendly and helpful. So alround highly recommended.

Lovely food and attentive/friendly staff however the coffees weren’t hot enough/luke warm.

This is a great place to relax and enjoy a good book! Maybe even catch up on some studying. All the staff are wonderful and create an enjoyable experience.

Food was excellent, very clean restaurant. Staff were very friendly but service was incredibly slow, considering it didn’t seem that busy in there.

Third visit there and twice now we have just turned up, the time 1.15 on Friday lunchtime to be greeted by ‘have you reserved a table’. No, well our kitchens aren’t serving food. I was amazed as the place was empty and no food service, other than cakes. I did have a cake but it wasn’t an enjoyable experience.

Incredible food and drink. Exceptionally creative and clearly well developed menu, which shows a high level of understanding of food pairings and technical ability. Always welcoming, friendly and efficient service and great value for money. A true testament to the hospitality industry and if I was able I would visit every day.

Booking must be essential...Looked lovely, turned up on a very quiet Sunday morning and the place looked very empty, there was only 2 of us so thought they might be able to 'squeeze us in' with lots of tables visibly empty and no queue of traffic upon entering we thought we had a good chance. To our disappointment we were turned away and not even offered one of the outside tables. Not sure why our business wasn't good enough for this place! Other reviews didn't sound too good either so hopefully we didn't miss out 🤷‍♀️
