We popped in with friends, quite late in afternoon, at the weekend. Staff were really friendly, and went out their way to make some late food to go with our coffee. Sandwiches were excellent both in quality and quantity. Oh, also, I could not resist the CHOCOLATE Fudge cake. Not sure if I should thank you for the extra “pounds”, but I couldn’t help myself..Many Thanks

I often have my lunch at Number 7 as the quality of the food is excellent. The staff are very friendly and the service is good. I usually have toasted sandwich with local sourced ingredients accompanied by salad. Good selection of drinks - locally produced ginger beer is my favourite.

Crossing our fingers we would find a decent breakfast when we happened upon this place. Thank God! Double egg and sausage sandwich and a huge pot of tea was just the ticket. The place is very clean, serves fantastic food and looks like it's really popular with the locals...always a good sign. Wished we lived closer!

Lovely fresh food in this little café-restaurant - connected to the excellent delicatessen next door at Nbr5. I had the "special" - smoked salmon risotto, my partner had the grilled goats cheese salad. Great cakes & traybakes for dessert, too. Recommend you park in the Waitrose carpark just around the corner.

On a long journey, and reached Crewkerne at coffee time. Have driven through many times, but not stopped before, so found an on-street parking spot and very soon saw this café across the road. Ordered an espresso, and was pleased that a small window table was free so I could watch people and traffic passing by. The coffee was fine, and as I left I discovered that next door is an excellent deli run by the same people, where I bought a loaf of bread.

I visited for a coffee, treat and time out from the stresses of life. The coffee was ok, although small is very small, but the service is grumpy. No smiles, short responses to questions and turning away people wanting to come in. It was no where near closing but they'd obviously had enough of customers and each other (they were snapping at each other too). My previous visit had been the same so won't be visiting again.

We thought this would be a good choice as it is combined with the deli next door. How wrong can you be ? The ambience is non-existent the decor is dated and boring and the furniture is a mush-mash of chairs and settees that are scattered untidily around presumably for the customers to sort out as the staff are too lazy and not really interested because half the tables had dirty cups etc. on even though there were only two or three people in and the girl behind the counter was doing nothing. The coffeee was less than avaerage and the cranberry flan was stale and dry. So if that represents the standard we obviously didn't bother with the deli. Gives a very down market impression of Crewkerne to the visitor. Certainly won't be returning.

We stopped here for a snack lunch and I ordered the Club Sandwich which was very tasty, but rather too large and unmanageable. Rather than the normal three slices of toast this one was made with two, a top and a bottom, it hadn't been cut into portions or 'pinned' to stop it falling apart, so there was a lot of very tightly clenched hands holding the 2 bits together, it was very tasty and reasonably priced and served by a pleasant waitress. My wife had a Ciabatta which she finished and enjoyed.

Totally lacking in atmosphere, this place needs the kiss of life. The only music came from the extremely loud refrigerator, but it is good to see that the staff have perfected the art of chewing gum with your mouth open, and that it is still alive and well in Crewkerne. The only other customers were single elderly ladies drinking coffee and eating cake (except for the one who couldn't open her packet of cashews, or whatever).I half expected a kid with a banjo to start playing 'duelling banjos'., or somebody to call a number, and one of the ladies to go out a back door. Admittedly, it was a wet October afternoon, but this is when staff should be doing their thing to promote the place. One member of staff shone, but the rest - well!If this was the1950s, this place would be a café, or rather, a caf. Certainly not a restaurant.

We we're here for a smallish group of mixed ages on a Friday evening. We had booked. Staff seemed overwhelmed or not very experienced and so we waited ages for drinks and when they did eventually arrive, some were missing. We had ordered our pizzas in advance and so assumed that once we arrived, food would come quite quickly but we waited approximately 45 minutes for the pizzas. They have limited pizza oven capacity and so weren't able to bring all 8 pizzas together. The puzzas were l.k but not worth the wait frankly.

I often visit the area and have enjoyed sandwiches in Number 7, however I was very disappointed on my most recent visit . The staff seem different and very disinterested. We ordered pizza at £6.75. When it arrived it was about the size of a small side plate. We queried the size as we thought there had been a mistake. But no, it was correct. A total rip off!!! Pizza is one of the cheapest things to make so in no way was this worth the expense. It appears that the owners are victims of their success. They should think very carefully about what they are offering and charging. People will soon realise that they are being taken for a ride and will avoid the place.

We eat here quite often and I have to say that having just read other reviews, I'm wondering if the low raters are actually eating in the same place. The food is tasty and of reasonable portions. It's reasonably good value. The place is clean and pleasant. The staff aren't too bad, not service; it tends to be swift. Having recently moved to Crewkerne I gave this place a couple of chances but won't be returning. Very average food, below average service and, massively overpriced. Grossly overpriced for what you get. Buy and pay for at the counter - no waitress service. Food average - bread is thick bloomer type - with hard crusts - great if you have all your teeth, if not, avoid like the plague. more expensive than a local restaurant where we had a meal with a wine and a tonic water, and we only had a toasted sandwich in Number 7 with 2 coffees. Definitely would not recommend.

We have just visited No. 7 for the third, and probably last, time. The decor and fixtures/fittings give a good impression and at first glance, things look good. Having said that, a large bin lorry was parked right outside for the duration of our visit which definitely didn't help what view there is.We now know that there's no waitress service and that you have to order and wait at the counter. We also know that they add an extra 20p for paying with either a Credit OR a Debit card for totals under £10 - but you only find that out "after the event": not acceptable. The coffee (extra shot) was quite tasty but apparently the milkshake (banana) and apple juice were just average. The service was quite poor with two of the only three simple items having to be repeated; and of course the hidden charge most certainly did not help.I do feel this place could be so much better but having given it three gos, I think that's enough.

I came here for lunch with my wife and a couple of friends. The place is bright and clean, with friendly staff, with a delicatessen next door, to which you can walk through. There is café style menu, salads, quiches, sandwiches, a very large vegetarian selection, some hot food, and soup. There is a small bar. Two of our party had something off the specials board, very tasty, but small portions. The others ate off the main menu; one had a very generous sandwich, and the other a fish dish that also came in adequate portions. Later I saw another special coming out, same portion size. This place is almost very good, but not quite.

I think the menu could be expanded a little to include sandwiches, filled roll etc. The big change that is needed is the menu itself, it's almost unreadable, poor brown card and small black writing is not a good combination. Stopped in for lunch as we've passed this place often on the way to and from our sons university in Hampshire and thought we'd give it a go. The place is a bit mad but fun. Friendly servers appear to be from Eastern Europe and sometimes have a job understanding what you are ordering. The food was plentiful and hot, everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was pretty good and quick too, but it wasn't that busy only three other small groups dining. However when my husband went to pay he was over charged for my portion of fish and chips (the price on the menu stated £12.90, he was charged £16.99 for an 'Evening fish and chips' as I discovered on returning home, so check your receipts before leaving) also be aware a 10% service charge is also added to the bill, we always tip but don't favour restaurants who do this. Would we return? Possibly but not definitly.
