Tried lunch after visiting the museum. The staff didn’t appear engaged and the quality of the food poor considering the price. The soup was cold, the pasties stale and a lack of staff resulted in the queue to pay further reducing the temperature of the food. I overheard a customer complain that his food was cold and the staff seemed happy to microwave some heat into it. Not sure that’s the answer, maybe hot food in the first place would be better. Not a great experience and one to be missed. Judging by previous posts, there is a theme here and whilst the RN are not responsible for the museum or catering it does reflect.

Two of us rode our motorcycles here from Alton in Hampshire. Decided to not stop en-route for our lunch foolishly thinking that the Swordfrish cafe would be of the same excellent quality as the museum itself! How wrong we were. It reminds you of the 70s Wimpey style restaurants; no flavour, no variety and chips with just about everything! The cold drinks cabinet wasn't cold so all drinks were lukewarm only! I'm sure if the cafe had been run along the same lines as the excellent one at Portsmouth Dockyard then I would be telling a different story! Basically avoid the cafe if you don't have children and find a decent pub nearby instead!

Reading the recent reviews I was a bit worried but I have to say there was a big improvement from our last visit. The staff were helpful and pleasant and the food was good. The menu is standard for this sort of outlet and absolutely fine. There’s outdoor seating if the weather is fine - it was at half term. Cutlery is now metal and there’s a jug of tap water. It was busy at lunchtime but was closing up when we went back for tea but we were served.

This restaurant is never going to win any awards for quality, innovation, freshness or whatever. The lunchtime choice is in the order of fish & chips, scampi & chips or roast of the day (which today was chicken breast or pre-carved pork) With a bit of imagination this place could be so much better, and they'd do well to get consultants in to look at menu planning. A proper carvery perhaps, or fresh fish, or pasta, or risotto. Probably the best thing they do would be breakfast...

Missed a couple of months meetings since then staff has changed again and not for the best. We book in good time with numbers and times normally all works well but not this time. No breakfast food on the hot plate which was not turned on . Orders taken on a scruffy piece of A4 paper which summed it up. The food was served piecemeal and cold in the end after a 40 minuet wait with no sign of our order I asked to have my money back. This was down to a complete lack of control and zero organisation. To a point I was told chef was under the impression he was serving our group must have been the Scout's how left as we arrived and we should have arrived at 10.30 no we always order from the hot plate at 10.00. Excuses excuses and poor organisation and nobody had any idea as to what was going on

OK. It's 11.30am and it's rather quiet despite the car park for the museum being almost full, plus 4 coaches. Everyone must be in the museum.General indications are it's a nice large cafe/restaurant. The first surprise is the sandwich counter. Sandwich prices vary between £3.20 - £4.00 for what looks like nothing exceptional. The usual culprits being cheese & pickle, cheese & tomato, ham & mustard at the low end with beef & horseradish, prawn and pork & apple at the top end. The drinks are no cheaper with soft drinks cans coming in at £1.50, and a few alcoholic beverages starting at about £3.75 upwards for 500ml cans/bottles.The main restaurants items appear to be more average priced. There are the usual snacks (sausage rolls/pasty's, etc) for around £2-£2.50. With jacket potatoes around £4 - £5, depending on filling, etc, although they didn't look like anything to write home about by size, nor skin texture. Possibly microwaved. There were a number of more restaurant type food items on the menu consisting of the usual type starters (about £4 - £5) and 2 or 3 main courses (about £8 - £9).Sitting near a window it was clear that no attention to cleaning is made in this area. The frames, especially the bottom parts of the frames were filthy! Apart from this, the restaurant appeared very clean and tidy. Staff appeared to be pleasant and helpful enough. Given it was a cold day outside, it was nice and warm inside.

The restaurant was light, airy and for the type of food outlet exceptionally clean and tidy. There was a limited menu but what was on offer looked fresh and palatable. They had a DIY drinks machine which put me off coffee as I prefer full bean but the till operator shot round and made a cup of tea for me. He was very helpful and kept calling me sir. Obviously happy in his work and customer service high on his list of priorities. Having just landed at Heathrow Airport from America, we choose this place for a pit-stop on our drive to Torquay. We got a bite to eat before going into the museum - both were wonderful. I am GF and they had plenty of options for me, and we both had a delicious meal. It was clean, friendly and inviting.

As this is the only place to eat at RNAS Museum, Yeovilton, it is pleasing that it is good of its kind. There is a nice range of hot and cold food on offer so that you can have a snack or a full meal in the light and airy restaurant area.

Had morning tea at this restaurant that is situated immediately outside the Fleet Air Arm Museum. Should you wish after entering the museum your ticket allows you to exit to the restaurant then reenter the museum. The morning tea/coffee and scones was adequate but not at the top level this type of break.Staff most friendly and efficient in this mainly self serve cafeteria style establishment.

Set your sat nav for Fleet Air Arm RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset BA22 8HW for some good homemade food! There is plenty of free parking outside the museum and the access is easy for all abilities. The prices are sensible and your get good value for money. The is a playground assault course for children and a covered picnic area with plenty of in covered seating. The food is fresh, tasty and hot. There is a cold food selection as well. There is a good selection of coffee and other hot drinks available. See my pics of the menu boards for more info. The only downside is that the main menu board is a bit jumbled and could do with a tidy up!The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean tidy.It is open from April to October 0930 to 1700 and November to March 0930 to 1600All in all the perfect pitstop!

First time in this pub for a few years. Always a good cheap meal to be had and nothing has changed. Pleasant and clean pub and we three enjoyed the fish and chips. Pleasant staff and good tasting food
