I go to Palmers restaurant every day with my buddy Mike, yesterday I had visitors from Stratford on Avon ex army mate and his wife, I brought them to Palmers for breakfast, ( which atm is half price ) anyway, after breakfast they just happened to mention that they thought the restaurant was bright, clean and cheery, and remarked how friendly the staff were, as they greeted me and them as we came in. The owners are often here and take time to speak to the customers, the manager Ben and his supervisor Ellie lead their team from the front, making a visit here a very enjoyable experience.

We went to Palmers a couple of days ago for various garden equipment and while we were there decided to have a coffee. Big mistake. We decided to sit outside as it was very warm inside. I told the very pleasant blonde lady at the till and she said it would be brought out to us. We decided to go in after about 10 minutes as no coffee yet and a bit windy. I told the staff at the counter and gave them our new table number. Our tray with our printed order was on the counter so I assumed it wouldn't be too long. Another mistake. After another wait I went back to the counter and asked whether the order would be long to which the reply was 'what did you order'?! It seemed our order has disappeared. I asked politely if we could have the two Americanos we had ordered about 20 minutes ago. The pleasant blonde lady said she would do them straightaway, which she duly did but then they were delivered by a very surly young lady with glasses and long dark hair in a ponytail, who slammed them down on the table and flounced off before we could even say thank you!! and we were the ones whose order had been mislaid twice!! So unbelievably rude. My coffee also was lukewarm and at the price charged £3.00 for an Americano I really would have expected more than a coffee from a push button machine. Such a bad experience needless to say I won't be returning!

Well well well.. what a terrible disappointment. My family and I endured a venture into the garden centre and looked at what the place had to offer… other than some overpriced book marks and dead plants there’s not much. We walked on through to the “cafe” to quench our thirsts and stop the rumble in our tummy’s. I was not expecting to have to remortgage my house based on the extortionate prices!! FROM £10 for a scummy panini with lack of choice for fillings. Judging by the other plates of the folks sat in the dining area it was poor portion sizes. Perhaps they think they are feeding plants rather than people? We were greeted by staff member who resembled the stature of a bulldog… miserable looking and barking to the customers. Safe to say we shall not be returning to this establishment.

The pictures on the website of the food do not come close to what it's actually like when your eating at palmers. the full breakfast for example with 3 sausages and 3 eggs this is such a false description the food is cold burnt and nothing like the advert one egg and one burnt sausage is a better description and the prices are so bad for the quality and quantity you actually get. there is a mixture of friendly and unfriendly staff too. and the female owner is just shocking how she approaches her customers this place used to be ok many years back but now its disgraceful in so many ways major improvement needed and also toilets and eating area are filthy

Palmers has badly gone down hill, popped in for lunch. Had an overpriced cheese sandwich dry and tastless, no garnish just a couple of crisps on the plate - all for the extortionate price of £7!! I would avoid this place and buy yourself a supermarket meal deal or a Gregg's baguette - better value.

Absolutely dreadful. The worst carvery we ve ever had. They serve you at your table, so you can't actually see the food, so you can't really call it a carvery. The lamb was not carved off a joint but definitely prepacked, the food was cold. I gad one half and 2 tiny hits of potato tgat didn't even make a whole one, they were very crispy on the outside and stone cold in tge middle as if the had been reheated. Yes there was cauliflower cheese, 1 florets and lots of thin watery sauce. The whole plate was swamped in a mountain of peas and swimming in gravy. My mum was too embarrassed to say anything. So bad for almost £16!!

Went for a ploughman’s, used to be so good, size of it had literally halved and the price of £12 extortionate. Used to be able to get ham and cheese for £8.95. I hardly had stated it, went to put the ham in my mouth and it stank, it was off. I was literally retching!!! My friend smelt it and said the same! Called over the staff and was told I could have another meal with fresh ham!!!! That’s what I wanted in the first place!!!! I said I felt sick and couldn’t eat anything else. They offered me half the price back, I said no as I had hardly touched it. Eventually I was given a full refund. It appears that Palmers have lost what they had, I would rather pay a bit more and go to The Trough. Will never eat here again.

Attending the restaurant at 2:30 whilst they were still open. They had sold out of all food and told me they could only do sandwich and chips. These are items they sell gluten free. Upon ordering the gluten free items, I asked them if they use separate butter between the sandwiches and if the chips are cooked separately. They informed me that they cook the gluten free chips with breaded products therefore making the chips not gluten free. They also use the same butter which is used in normal sandwich’s in the non gluten free ones. The food is therefore not gluten free. I have reported this outfit to environmental health. The quality of gluten free sandwiches matches yeovil hospital.

I bought a galvanised watering can from here about a year ago and within a few months it starting to rust through at the bottom. I took it back (with a receipt) on Wednesday expecting a refund or credit note. By this time there was a large hole in the bottom of the watering can but I was told that it wasn't possible to refund me unless I spoke to the supplier who would authorise the refund. The lady dealing with this was supposedly a supervisor and was extremely rude. I asked why she couldn't authorise the refund and was told that they do not do this. She very reluctantly gave me the number to call of said supplier and expected ME to make the call - by which time steam was coming out of my ears! My husband, who was waiting in the car, was horrified and agreed that it shouldn't be up to the customer to do this. The day was saved by a much more polite salesperson who made the call when we went back in. I finally got my refund. I cannot believe that that this is the company policy and I'm still fuming about how rudely I was treated. We have been to Palmers and used the cafe a couple of times, and I'm afraid that the service and food were also dreadful. We will definitely not be returning there.

The restaurant used to be a favourite for our family and a regular one for Sunday lunch . What has happened to this place ? For Sunday lunch is more expensive than several local pubs about £3-4 more expensive and the quality is nothing like it used to be here. The portions sizes have shrunk and don’t ask for a substitute veg if you don’t like one of them , you’ll be told no we don’t replace a veg it comes as it comes . Plus you no longer get cauliflower cheese with every roast it seems only with beef now . Not worth the money .

A pleasant enough setting with waiter service and a good seating area. But.... The coffee was warm as it's served from a machine, so no good asking for extra hot. The cappuccino I ordered was missing at least an inch from the top and had a bitter taste. I ordered granary toast. Nice but packets of marmalade and butter are such a lazy gesture. I did mention to the waiter regarding the coffee. He offered to get me a replacement or some hot milk. I politely declined. A few negatives, hence the score. The rest of the trip was spent wandering the garden centre itself. No disappointment there :-)

Upon ordering a 'White Chocolate Chip Cookie' you'd normally expect an enjoyable (sometimes soft) cookie that you could break into pieces and enjoy. Not the one my partner got today however, which required a hammer to break it up and was crispier than an overbaked crisp. When she questioned a member of staff (presuming supervisor or manager) on this and asked if she could swap for an alternative, she was met with a very abrupt 'what's wrong with it' and 'thats how it should be. You can buy something else if you like?'Ok, if the cookie is meant to be very overbaked, i'm sure some people enjoy testing their jaw strength on breaking through it, fair enough, but the way she was spoken to by the member of staff was unacceptable, and has put our group of 5 off visiting again. It was also overheard in amongst the staff talking and wondering what was our problem 'she wanted a soft cookie'. If you're going to talk about your customers, do it out of ear shot! Shame really, as this was our first visit, and my Coffee & Walnut cake wasn't bad really.

I have given Palmers time to respond to an emailed complaint but no response. I now find myself writing this comment which could have been avoided. I phoned to ask if dogs were allowed (answer Yes) I then asked if dogs were allowed in the café area (answer Yes) I queried the last part again as needed to be sure (answer Yes). We then travelled and purchased in various departments as a lovely garden centre. My Husband put the purchases in the car, my Daughter and her Mini Dachshund 13 week old puppy in arms took a place in the food queue and I pushed my 93 year old Mum in wheelchair to an available table towards the rear. My Daughter (whom I add has anxiety and depression and please note this puppy is her new Emotional Support Dog), was screamed at by a lady behind the food counter "GET THAT DOG OUT OF HERE". She came to find me, she was in a state of distress. I walked back with my Daughter only to meet with another member of staff who again told us in no uncertain terms to get the dog out. I told this lady I had phoned to ask if dogs were allowed but this met with an uncomfortable confrontation. Please don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily agree dogs should be allowed in eating areas and that is why I phoned first but this puppy needed socialisation as part of his training for his role as Emotional Support Dog and that is why we chose to visit this establishment as was told it was not an issue. The attitude of the staff turned a pleasant trip into a distressing experience.

Went for a quick bite of lunch after a journey back from Worthing, met an amazing lady at the till that was so helpful, the 4 of us ended up with a carvery, the staff behind the counter could not do enough for us the food was fantastic, a friend didn’t like red beef so the chef went to find a more well done joint for her, the staff served our veg for us also, we though that we would not get much food due to this but the staff could not of put any more on the plates. The cauliflower cheese was lovely, and such a great amount of veg, we asked for more apple sauce and he staff told us to grab a seat and they would bring it to us instead of letting our food get cold. The management should be proud of their staff, was lovely to see staff with a smile on faces, nice to meet polite staff and be so welcoming

A lovely, convenient place for coffee, lunch or snack. Always welcoming and never rush you to move on. Great place to meet up with friends and free car park.

Came across this place whilst travelling through and stopped for lunch, first impression was the cleanliness and presentation. Not expecting a clinary experience we were impressed by the quality of the good honest fare available.

They really shouldn’t claim to serve vegan food. Options (only after asking as the vegan “menu” was hidden in a folder under the counter) - Salad sandwich; jacket potato with beans, vegan breakfast (which is the same as normal breakfast with all meat & egg items removed and a vegetable sausage added, which they point out will be cooked in the same oil as meat sausages). I opted for what ended up being the blandest, cardboard tea cake I’ve ever tasted. No indication of prices on this menu. Preferable to their awful offering, they should just be clear that they don’t cater for vegans and let us choose to find somewhere that does.

We often go there for breakfast. If you go before 10.30 am they have a special deal, 2 midi breakfasts for £12 including drink. Their idea of “midi” is actually “large”!The food is good, you get the usual breakfast items plus sauté potatoes so there is a lot of food. They are very amenable to swapping items when you order. The restaurant is quite large but they do employ enough people to keep it running smoothly. We have never been kept waiting long and the tables are cleared quickly and if there are any spillages out comes the vacuum cleaner. The only downside is that, other than the breakfast special the food is quite expensive and the hot drinks are eyewateringly so.

Called in for a full English breakfast on Monday 17th June 2019. Premises are spacious, clean and bright next to the garden centre shop area. Efficient staff brought out delightful freshly cooked meals. For under £9 each this was excellent value.

Stopped here for lunch and had the most fantastic cheese & ham 3-egg omelette with chips and salad. Good price, well cooked and served quickly considering they were really busy. Went away so full but very happy indeed. Only issue was walking past the most fantastic looking cakes but being too full to manage one after our lunch. I suppose I will just have to go back for afternoon tea at some point to try them out! One of the best spots for a good lunch in Yeovil. Also really handy for gifts and quirky items if you have someone hard to buy for, some pet foods including the nature's menu frozen parts that my dogs love. Not to mention the actual garden centre is well stocked with good variety. I really like visiting.

Service was terrible, order taken 10 mins after waiting, meal came 10 mins before drinks and was not cooked fully, when shown, the eggs were removed cooked poorly and appear to have been thrown bk on plate, rest of meal now cold and tasteless. Mocha was terrible also. Then progressed to the plant section and was treated rudely by staff member who we later found out when called to give feedback about the poor services was the manager Donna whom was rude again and hang up on me. Will never use palmer albany again

After choosing trees for daughter's birthday we had lunch in the restaurant attached to the garden centre. It's a bit 'canteen' & because of the high roofed 'hangar' structure it didn't feeling particularly snug or homely.

Although very good quality & value for money ,the Sunday roast portions seems to have shrunk in my opinion.

It was very busy when we arrived but found an uncleaned table. No one came to clean the table so I did it myself. Food was prepared quick and was plenty. So to the negative! I was shocked to see how many of their chefs and prep staff were going outside to SMOKE! I don't have a problem with people who wish to smoke but if you are a chef or food prep, come on! Smoke after your shift. When staff came to clear the table they stank of stale cigarette smoke! That was such a let down and I hope Palmers will stop their staff who deal with the public or prepare their food not to smoke during their shift.

As a gently developing asset the Restaurant has grown to make the Garden Centre a place to visit. It is busy and organised. I visited first time for a while for a group getting together, and then visited on my own (buying a sparrow lodge). I was not the only one sat alone at the second visit, so it is a popular place. Good food at a good price. Ignore the road works around it, it will only improve and not their fault!

Very fast to process our order and get it to our table. We had jacket potato and beans with salad, which was all good, shame it came on a plate that might have come straight out of the freezer! You would not expect a hot plate with salad, but even a room temperature plate would have prevented our food from going cold quickly. In future I shall ask for a warm plate and the salad in a seperate saucer. The coffee was nice and hot and a large latte has 2 shots, so good flavour. We have not tried many meals from the menu as we are veggie and the overall majority of meals are meat based. Cakes looked nice although we have not tried them yet. My friend has to have gluten free and apart from omelette and chips, this is all she can have.

The food itself is good but the system of selecting your food and then having to wait in another queue for your hot drink isn’t positive. If you select a warm scone, it’s cold by the time you eventually sit down. This could be changed to make service overall a more pleasant experience.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, the room was clean and the breakfast was quite nice. The actual pub was a mess, very run down and depressing. We were booked for two nights but came home after the first day ...... would not recommend this hotel.

First time in this pub for a few years. Always a good cheap meal to be had and nothing has changed. Pleasant and clean pub and we three enjoyed the fish and chips. Pleasant staff and good tasting food. Well presented and the puddings were tasty, perhaps a bit pricey though. However an interesting experience and one we would perhaps repeat at a later date.

This place is always empty and always get turned away even when the restaurant is empty! When you do get a table the service is excruciatingly slow, with overpriced terrible food. The waiting staff always get the order wrong and are very unapologetic. Bad food, poor beer, overpriced and poor service

Celebrating a birthday lunch. The place is spotlessly clean and well laid out. The food was exceptional. From gnocchi to Steak and Ale pie thete was something for everyone. The people here are extremely helpful and pleasant and we were made to feel very welcome. Can't wait to return and try other items from the menu.
