The pub is lovely, quit expensive and this leads me to the issue in hand, when paying premium prices the basics would be nice, clean glass to start, maybe a cheerful acknowledgement and a manager who can be bothered to step up when needed too, I understand it's a hard job to be there when needed but really clean glass and clean table a bit of direction so there is some organisation would good
The owners of this have obviously worked hard to build up a reputation for quality and good service to their customers however their staff have a different idea rude and untrained is the only description I can find won't go there again
Taken out for lunch on mothers day by my son.
Firstly I would like to praise the lady who served us very friendly and welcoming, sadly did not get her name or get a chance to tip her.
We choose the pork and turkey dinners and enjoyed drinks whilst waiting. Lovely surroundings in the outside covered area.
Food arrived and tasted as good as it looked, ample servings and well presented. Surrounded by other mothers enjoying lunch....until the last customers arrived and sat down with their very yappy, barking dog.
Now Im sure some people can block this annoying noise out, however I do not wish to have my conversations interrupted every time we attempted to have a conversation. The dog barked every time someone went near the table, walked past the table. The owners made NO attempt to shut the dog up and when my son complained to the staff 1 person thought that giving my dirty looks was appropriate. The same female thought it appropriate to walk over to our table and in front of everyone told me that they were not moving tables because we had complained, but because they had chosen to move. We also ended up getting into another conversation (polite description) with a male who inserted himself into the situation. He thought it was helpful to inform us that it was a dog friendly restaurant and we should not have gone there if we don't like dogs.
FYI we have always owned dogs but do not feel the need to take them into restaurants especially when they cannot be quiet. Before you point out that service dogs are welcome, I have never seen a service dog that sits there and barks continuously.
We cut short our visit, foregoing dessert, another glass of wine because the atmosphere was so toxic.
So, I can only conclude that welcoming dogs takes precedence over humans!! We continued to hear the dog barking from the table they choose to move to. Probably spoiling someone else day/lunch. Not everybody feels able to complain so will suffer in silence and probably not return.
Your policy created that situation and staff made no attempt to ask them to keep dog quiet.
I do not expect to receive a response because clearly dogs are more important than paying customers. Good luck with that!
Overall a great shame and as a local who likes to enjoy the local restaurants I have crossed this one off our list. The review was based on the dog situation, the food was 5 star.
We went to have a meal for my son’s birthday. The pub was semi clean and busy! The food arrived very fast after ordering it! And after we started eating it you can see why it was so fast? We all had mixed grills apart from one, but the food was clearly pre cooked and held in a hot plate! Peas were looked like they was cooked in the morning! The chips were very over cooked and dry. The sausage was also dry and hard and also seemed like it was from breakfast time! The chicken! Clearly was cooked and held a long time before serving as it was falling apart and a brown/gray colour. Gammon was chewy, and the pineapple ring felt like it was straight out of the tin and touched the grill and then served. The steak was supposed to be medium? But was well done. The only thing that we could say positive was the 2 little onion rings and the egg Wer cooked to order! Again everything else was CLEARLY PRE COOKED and VERY DISAPPOINTING. Very POOR and SHODDY EFFORT.
Sorry to say! But we wished we’d have slummed it and gone to WEATHER SPOONS?
VERY POOR SHOW..

Excellent service. Well received. Bug room. The breakfast was great. The fitness room is not very big but I was alone and could enjoy the home trainer, treadmill and a bit of gym

Good music, need to clean the lines of the pumps. Coke was flat when approaching staff staff agreed it was tasting off and had staff go and check the pump . Staff came back to say pump was fine and working so staff then said they wouldn't be pouring us a new one or replacing the drink in actual fact the words were the pumps fine I'm not doing anything about it. Used to really enjoy this place. Not anymore. There was a group of 6 of us and we were out for a night out. We were putting money in the pool table and buying drinks. But took our custom else where for the night. Toilet brush in the mens corridor just on the floor and the whole venues floor was sticky,
