I am a regular at this lovely village pub! A lovely selection of ales and good food. Nice people and great atmosphere 👌 I'm so lucky to have this pub so close! Whether you want a great pub garden in the summer or a roaring fire in the winter.

A quiet little pub which seems to be a popular place with the locals as there are always a good few folks in. They do St Austell brewery beers here so I can get one of my favourite pints in. Not had food here so can't comment. The staff are very friendly and always welcoming. Atmosphere is quaint and plenty of nooks and crannies to have a pleasant pint with a mate or two.

I was very impressed by the friendly atmosphere of the pub and staff. We arrived without a booking and were made to feel very welcome, as it was Sunday I can only comment on the roast, we had chicken and it was delicious, as were the trimmings and the excellent value for money. Unfortunately I'm trying dry January but I was extremely tempted by the excellent range of real ales on tap. I would highly recommend a visit and shall definitely be returning next month! (Unfortunately I was hungry and didn't think to take any photos but the food looked delicious)

We were heading south on the M5 and looking for somewhere close by to stop off for dinner. After reading a few reviews online we decided to stop off at The Plough Inn and had a great evening meal. The food was proper pub grub well done (we had scampi and gammon) and it had a great atmosphere in an old traditional pub. I couldn’t believe how busy it was for a Thursday night and it was definitely better than the photos online. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Wish I had a local like this!

A traditional pub in the heart of Congresbury and just a few seconds drive from the main A370, this is very much a proper pub with a great beer selection, but some good food options. It’s not “gastro” by any means, but if you want good, hearty pub food it’s very difficult to beat. Since my last visit, the “Pie of the day” has morphed in to a choice of three listed on a sperate board. As much as I like a pie, I’ve been very disappointed in a couple of other pubs recently, one of which was basically just a pool of gravy under the pastry lid with literally two chunks of meat in it, and on another, a fish pie that was served cold. No such problems here, I opted for the Chicken, Bacon & Tarragon pie and what turned up was piping hot and bursting with filling under a crispy puff pastry lid. It was really very tasty, and the accompanying chips were well cooked to. A small salad was perhaps al little superfluous, but other than that it was great. Across the table, the Beef & Ale pie was just as good. Overall, a cracking pub and well worth a visit.

A dish to remember.....i was also eating it the evening after!?!. Last nights dish at the convivial The Plough was so absolutely scrumptious i didn't want it to end; from the excellent chips to the superb 5* cordon bleu Barnsley Chops - cooked just to my tastes slightly fatty, juicy and sublimely tasty as lamb should be. I took the second chop home to be able to prolong the gastro delight....thank you to all concerned from the chef, staff, shepherd and of course the ultimate gesture by the sheep its self.

We discovered this pub when visiting to watch the Morris dancing one evening. It has loads of atmosphere, with low ceilings, cosy rooms off the main dining and drinking area and a tiny bar which is approached on two sides. It's a very friendly, welcoming place, with a good selection of local beers, and as we wanted to support it we decided to come back for dinner the next evening. Would definitely recommend booking a table as most if not all were full quite early on on a Friday night. The menu isn't huge, but there is a specials board with a lot of choice - we ate venison stew which was hot, hearty and very filling, leaving us with no room for pudding. Portions are very large! The pub has a car park, but there is room in the roads nearby. Dogs are welcome too.

A lovely, traditional old pub on one of the main roads through the village, this ticks all the boxes as far as a welcoming local goes, both in terms of the décor and the atmosphere. Staff and other customers all seemed friendly, and not having booked we managed to squeeze in to one of the last available tables in the front room. I thought I had heard that there were now a few more adventurous specials on the menu, although that didn’t seem to be the case on our visit with lemon & Thyme Chicken in a cream sauce being the only option, with the rest of the menu offering very much a traditional “pub grub” offering. I opted for the Beer Battered Fish & Chips and this was a decent and tasty dish served along with peas, a side salad and a (homemade?) tartare sauce. Sometimes battered fish can be a bit greasy, but that didn’t seem to be the case here and it went down well. I asked for tomato sauce and asked for a lot as I get through countless little sachets, and the friendly waitress was happy to oblige bringing me out a large ramekin of it. Across the table, the Scampi & Chips were also well received. All in all, a cracking pub and well worth a visit.
