The Woolpack is my 'goto' Inn for a catch up with friends for a pint and a light lunch. Although very disappointed that the 'Burger and a Pint' offer enjoyed on October 15th was no longer available I did like the smaller portion size of fish, chips and peas, I am not at all partial to rosemary chips but was happy that I was offered normal skinny fries instead. We were looked after attentively by Marie and Mandy and thanks to Libby the Chef. A very happy couple of hours was spent here.

Visited here on a Sunday with a friend asked for a table for a roast was told yeah we got tables but we’ve ran out of food. Bit odd as they had just opened and lots of people were sat eating a roast also seen food being brought out to tables. Can only assume we weren’t dressed correctly, who knows shame as looked very pleasant place to eat.

Menu looked interesting so booked table online as staying in area. Relaxed restaurant, we sat upstairs. Lovely front of house guy and one hardworking waitress. Food was wonderful, fish cakes as a main, delicate flavour, steak perfectly cooked. Dessert, I’m still thinking about it…….poached pear, blackcurrant (I think) chestnut cream and honeycomb, wow. Couple of glasses of Merlot, everything perfect. A lovely relaxing evening, absolutely lovely staff, we shall visit again.

Fantastic local pub. Proper old school local drinkers' established. Friendly owner, friendly locals, loads of character and charm... feels like stepping back in time to what pubs used to be. Best of all, you can count on a chat with Aura, the pub cat, who's invariably to be found occupying her favourite chair.
