We as a family love going to ask in wells over any other with having a 6 year old and 8 year old. They both ask to come to this restaurant, they feel relaxed welcomed always given colouring and greated with fab staff. I It's also nice to see the same staff witch shows that staff are treated with respect and care. Thanks to all the staff at ask wells xx

Mediocre, low quality ingredients. Salami misti pizza undercooked and very small for £16! Margarita pizza undercooked had to be sent back. Extra olives ordered just thrown on in a pile not even spread out. Clearly annoyed to be asked for this. Supposedly ”impressive salad fit for Caesar” Caesar salad was limp. Lettuce dripping in dressing with soggy croutons and dried up chicken breast. Mushroom Risotto was over seasoned and served so it looked like a bowl of sick. A few mushrooms on top as a garnish is all this needs. Lazy chef. Shockingly grim looking. Terrible slow service from a girl that nearly tipped the food on us as she delivered it. Noisy. Unfriendly. No smiles from anyone. Overpriced. Deserts were ok hence the stars. Bill was £120 with one beer and no other alcohol. Seriously don’t bother. There’s another pizza place in town and it’s fantastic.

We were greeted and seated swiftly by a cheerful waiter. The restaurant looked nice, unfortunately we did notice quite a few seats were rather mucky, I cleaned mine myself before sitting down. Our drinks order was taken quickly, unfortunately the wine is ridiculously expensive. Our food order was taken in good time, and we had a check back too. We actually had service from 4 different members of staff throughout our hour stay, rather peculiar. We had to ask 3 different waiters for our bill unfortunately, the first 2 seemed to forget. Maybe a bit more training needed, and better to allocate tables to individual staff members. They’re more likely to get tips that way too. The calzone was very good, perfect with the chilli oil and Parmesan on top. Very nice light and crispy dough, same as the pizzas. The chicken and pancetta pizza was the best I have had for many years, perfect thin crispy base, and very tasty. Definitely going to have one of these again! I added king prawns to mine, would probably have been better to have regular prawns rather than king prawns, and 2-3 times more of them. Also, marinade them in garlic. All in all definitely the best meal we have had in Wells, and when we are here next we will be back.

We stopped in Wells and were lucky to get a table for lunch at Ask. As we had two of our young grandchildren with us who are vegan choosing food that they would like was not straightforward but we found enough choice of Pizza and sides that appealed to them. The service was good and friendly. Overall a nice lunch stop.

Nice lively atmosphere. Went for lunch with family and although the service was a little slow as the restaurant was busy, our server Adina was charming helpful and patient, which added to the enjoyment. The food was excellent, and portions were just the right size. We also loved the decor and ambience. Hope to visit again on our next trip to Wells.

Arrived on spec but had to wait a while before someone came to seat us. I have to say, the young lad who was unable to show us to a table as it wasn't his job was really great and extremely polite and ensured someone who could help did. He actually ended up serving at our table. He was professional, helpful and a shining example of great customer service and focus. The pizza itself was average as was the bruschetta to start. My husband was disappointed with them.I enjoyed my pasta dish however.

This was our 7th restaurant in Wells in 7 days, we actually only went because we couldn't find anywhere else open on Mondays. We got off to a bad start, the calamari starter was off, the king prawn and crayfish tagliatelle was off and they'd run out of Pinot Grigio, (they'd had a busy weekend). So we tried again, butterfly king prawns and arancini starters followed by burrata and pancetta carbonara and luganica sausage and 'nduja tagliatelle, (whew, what a mouthful). The starters were ok, the tagliatelle was spicy but nice, the carbonara was a bit tasteless. To compensate, we both had salted caramel gelato puds, which were the highlight, and one was knocked off the bill. The service was exemplary - could not be faulted, the location of this restaurant is beautiful, between the square and the moat of the Bishop's Palace. With a substitute bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon, £95 including gratuity was not bad.

You get exactly what it states on the menu ..... good but not outstanding. Staff engaging with service prompt and efficient ...... nothing particularly memorable.

We booked at short notice and were able to take in a trainee guide dog. The food was good and the service was excellent. An enjoyable evening.

We reserved a table but still had to wait for a large group to be attended to first. Service was chaotic as we asked for a Gluten Free menu for one of the children. We were told they didn't have one, then someone else said they did, and ultimately it was a menu with the option for GF. Food was average at best. Then the coffee machine broke down. Thee waiters told us "10 minutes for coffee", " you can order coffee now", "can't serve you coffee", so we gave up. Ask Italian was thoroughly recommended to us, but this was a disappointing experience.

Not a great experience. My youngest had a pizza which looked ok, but then my salad arrived. The chicken was highly processed and just slapped on a bed of baby gem lettuce with very little parmesan and no promised dressing. The lady serving us was lovely, but twice forgot our ordered items. I should have got a salad from Waitrose.

We stopped going here for a while as the service was terrible. But it has much improved. Food was excellent, service was good, and there wasn't much of a wait time between main and desserts. Would definitely consider going back again.

We had tickets for a special evening event in Wells Cathedral so booked a table to eat beforehand. We enjoyed a great meal, served by a helpful and friendly polish waitress. My husband arrived on his mobility scooter and everyone was helpful in getting him in and parked. Thanks 🙂.

The restaurant atmosphere it's warming and welcoming. The food was fantastic, we had large portions of calamari, the new lasagna bites (very spicy sauce!) , pizza and few sides. It was my mum's 65th birthday, we loved the service and the attention that our waitress Addina paid to our evening. She's to be commended for her customer service skills.

Really disappointed with Ask Italian again! Every time I have booked for this restaurant hoping to use Tesco vouchers I’m told they don’t accept them on that occasion. Visited Ask in Wells Somerset 29 December….and guess what! They don’t accept vouchers over Xmas period. Food was rubbish and I really begrudged paying for it. Sadly I have unused vouchers cashed in so I have to use some other time but beware….they always have some excuse for not accepting them. Tesco need to look into this

We ate here on two evenings, as most of the other restaurants were booked for Christmas parties. However, we were not disappointed. The staff were so friendly and on both evenings we were thoroughly looked after. The extensive menu was very good and the atmosphere and food was excellent.

Just had the most delicious vegan lunch. I had the salad verdure vegan version..and I could just have started eating it all over again when I’d finished..(That’s not meaning the portion was small..which it wasn’t- It was just sooo delicious) It was so good to have a proper vegan meal…not just the usual burger or junk food type thing. This was a properly delicious, healthy meal. My husband had a delicious vegan pizza, a glass of delicious apple juice and I had a glass of Prosecco…and the bill came to under £40! Perfect! We’ll be back.x

This is a excellent restaurant for a spot of italian food, with a great atmosphre and excellent service. Despite being very busy (at 6pm) service was very good and food excellent.

This is a very nice restraint and has a nice view if bishops palace. The food was really nice here and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Booked an outside table but when I arrived all the tables were full. When I asked about the booking I was told that they can't stop people sitting at the tables. I suggested that they could put a reserved sign on them but didn't seem to understand. Sat inside and had a very mediocre pasta dish. I had an offer on my phone for a free dessert but the waiter has to go and get someone else to deal with it. When I mentioned about the outside booking he said that the policy had changed that morning about bookings. I pointed out that I had called into the restaurant at lunchtime half an hour before it opened and my booking had been accepted. I have eaten in Ask restaurants before and enjoyed the experience. This time I didn't .

Had lunch here during the heatwave in September and it was lovely and cool with nice aircon. The staff were friendly and polite and we did not feel rushed. And the food was lovely.

Another fantastic evening spent at Ask in Wells and professionally hosted by John Matthew, our very friendly and gregarious waiter. The food was both timely, hot and delicious. My wife had the Rosemary and Olive bread followed by the Brisket of beef pappardelle and I had the small Calamari followed by the Linguine con frutti di mare. Everything about our evening was perfect, so thanks again to all the team and to John who goes that extra mile to make sure your evening is special. Well done to you all.

I was literally here to eat time, waiting for an appointment. I have eaten here before, and enjoyed good pizzas. This time I tried the calzone. Too much 'flavour' far too salty, I could not eat it!! I was rewarded with a 'free' beer. Not good.

Lovely evening out. It was a Monday, and our waiter (John Matthews - I found his name printed on the receipt!) was really friendly and helpful and did not rush us at all. Six chatty women who were so engrossed in catching up that they kept forgetting to look at the menus were no problem for him! Really nice food, great service.

I came for dinner with my family in July. The food was lovely. I asked the waiter for extra cheese and for extra vegetables on my pizza and i didn't get disappointed. My cheesecake was very sweet but it was nice with the ice cream together. The building / restaurant looks pretty inside.

Went with family and I must say. It was awesome. Was served by a top waiter called Peter. He made us feel completely welcome and enjoyed our children’s sense of humour ( day 3 and we can’t wait for school to start lol). Very accommodating and I’m saying this from someone who has run pubs and kitchens since 2005. If every place had this customer service we’d be flung so far into Europe we might end up in Italy and it’s heat wave.

Great food. Ask Perks meant a free dessert this month, so great value. Waiter John M was attentive and cheerful. Wonderful evening.

Last night we had dinner with friends and had an amazing time. The food was great and the manager on duty Sienna made our evening even more memorable by being absolutely amazing. Anything we asked for was taken care off without any issues or hesitation and she made sure we felt like being in a Michelin star restaurant. Thank you Sienna we will be back soon.
