Pizza Express in Mendip

Absolutely amazing dining in experience at Pizza express! The staff are all so lovely and accommodating and can't do any more to help, service was fast and they went above and beyond! Every single one of them was brilliant! Big shout out to Alexandra - super friendly, service was brilliant, really attentive and helpful! Sid - the food was delicious, the pizza was amazing! Presentation was really good! Such a lovely kind girl and was a pleasure to talk to! Mimi - absolutely lovely and got our drinks out super speedy! All in all the staff were so lovely and really nice! We had such a pleasant experience here! Would highly recommend 10/10.

Arrived restaurant half full 19.20 on Friday 20th December 2024. Requested table for five. Completely ignored by staff after 10 mins waiting to be served, we requested to order drink & food. Still ignored another 10 minutes, no eye contact from the three members of staff on duty or acknowledgement after another 10 mins we walked out. Totally dissillusioned with Pizza Express won't be back. Good luck getting served!

Food and service was excellent. Waitress was lovely made my son a special hot chocolate which made his day!

The waitress who served us was really lovely, dont know her name, she had a poorly leg. At first we were sat at a very draughty table by the stairs, asked to move but we had to wait some time for the manageress to clear another table.

Went with my lovely wife for lunch. The food was great. The service was okay, not brilliant but okay. There was a slight woman with prown hair who seemed quiet. Maybe it was her first day, our drinks took a while and she didn't come back to check how our food was. The girl with the injured knee seemed more on it than our waitress. The cleanliness of the toilets could've been better. I would come again though

Food was very good didn't think the chocolate cake was the size of a skyscraper as it was described on the menu when they charge almost £10 for it, it was let down by the service as there was only 5 staff and there were long waits between ordering and getting food. This was made worse by the manager telling off the young girl that was running tables who was struggling as the chief kept ringing the service bell. The young girl was doing her best but the remaining staff were not prioritising their own jobs so she was having to pick up the slack.

Always such a good pizza from any of these restaurants. Lovely service!

Great pizza & lasagne excellent service and tasteful decoration. Not to noisy although it wasn't busy when we were there. 1 suggestion is to add focaccia to there menu, after all it is a pizza place

We came to Pizza Express in Street for our daughter's birthday on a quiet tuesday evening. The staff immediately recognised our daughter's special needs and went out of their way to make our meal such a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable experience. The manager, Ella, in particular had an exceptional approach, and was a shining example of all a restaurateur can aspire to be- she turned an ordinary chain restaurant meal into an evening our daughter, and we, her parents, won't forget. Thank you so much for your hospitality, and for being such a beautiful soul Ella!

Food was good service was average there as no atmosphere

Quite dreadful service. Offer advertised in the window apparently "finished yesterday". Waiting staff disinterested and vague.

The place was amazing and the staff was lovely and We visited on the day before my Sons birthday and got him the dessert with a brownie with ice cream with finally a candle.

Didn't get to taste the food as I was told if I didn't book it i would have to wait 40 minutes strange as the place was only 10 percent full !

Very slow service, burnt ends pizza with 1 bit of meat on it. Kids meals ridiculously hot

The restaurant It Is lovely. Service really slow we wait in the main entrance over 20 minutes for take a sit. I tried the lunch menu of 12 pound, pizza and drink and It was ok. Part of staff doesn't look confident with the offer.

Had a lovely lunch here with a friend. I had the niçiose salad & she had a pizza with a salad in the middle. Service was very good. Efficient & friendly. The restaurant was clean & spacious & has a nice atmosphere.

Went with my son and granddaughter, service OK but my choice was not possible as they had run out of spinach and baked tomatoes, not concerned I was happy to accept without the ingredients, my order was refused, I thought for what was on offer it was quite expensive

Poor food... Poor service... Ridiculous prices and soulless atmosphere. I have no problem paying 15 pounds for a pizza when it looks better than something I got from the Aldi freezer section and you are not left hungry. I have no problem with staff spilling something all over you and your table when they are apologetic and at least make an effort to wipe the table and offer you a cloth to clean up your clothes... Rather than just walking off and leaving you with the mess I would not go back.

Never been to this place so the review is a fake.

We ordered 2 meal deals via the delivery service and Uber Eats. Both pizzas arrived cold, both pizzas had the tiniest amount of toppings and on the La Reine the mushrooms were raw. I had the Sloppy Guiseppe which had minimal amount of cheese, sauce and beef but was made up with an excess of raw red chilli, I don’t mind spice at all but this was excessive in contrast to the other toppings. To top it off I was unwell overnight within 4 hours of eating my pizza. I have complained to Uber as well but nothing done as yet.

Great food, good tasting and quite quick to come. I thought there could be more to a portion and prices are at the top end of the scale, but that's just my opinion. Atmosphere seems rather commercial, again, my opinion. Staff all were very friendly and helpful.

My gluten free pizza when it finally came was very good compared to other gluten free pizzas I've had the the past, surprisingly moist. We came on an evening where they were experiencing some unusual difficulties and there was a delay in getting the food to us. I was disappointed that they had not kept us informed, as we could have changed our order if we had known. They were very apologetic though and gave us some (sadly glutenous) free extras and a discount to compensate. The staff were very nice. The women's toilets were also incredibly cold. There was no heating, no hot water and even no hot air from the hand dryer. I came out shivering. Probably most days you'd get a better experience than we had.

Disappointing! Normally enjoy Pizza express! But today there was a long wait for food, no chicken Milanese, replaced with goujons which were very dry. Side salad very small for price. Arancini portion very small, dry and only just warm. Cannelloni was hard and burnt round edges. Portion sizes have got very small and dishes very expensive.

No one to greet us when we arrived but good service eventually. Pizza was delicious.

Have come here a few times over the year's and will return again. Staff are friendly and helpful. Meals are good and have tried different meals over the visit's and can't fault any of them. Plenty of seating space and fast service. Interior is clean and tidy and would recommend people to come and enjoy a meal and drink.

So, I popped in for a takeaway option after work. Gave them the order, and apparently, the order was placed wrong. It wasn't a big issue for me, HOWEVER, the best wrong order ever. The pizza and garlic bread were delicious! The garlic bread was soft and fluffy dough with plenty of stringy mozzarella, and the pizza was superb. Would definitely recommend it, and I know what I'm ordering the next time I go.

Visited whilst on a short family holiday. It was a Monday night, so it was pretty quiet. The staff were very helpful and the food was great. Would definitely visit again if we happen to be over that way in future. Thanks

Lovely food, good service but could just do with replacing the light bulb above our table, a little bit dark!

It was a Saturday afternoon and not too busy but it took 45 mins for 2 pizzas to arrive (I had to ask where our food was). When they finally arrived they were hot and tasty. Base was crispy. Service was friendly but average visit.

A well cooked pizza went down well with a side salad and garlic dough balls. The cheesecake they used to serve years ago was nicer than the ones served today but it tasted ok. Friendly staff too.

We were taken to our table which had drink spilt still on the floor underneath, we had to ask for it to be cleared up. The waitress came to take our order, to be told that several items were not available on the menu as they had run out! The starters came which were lovely, a long wait for the main , these came out whilst our dirty dishes from starters were still on the table No one had cleared them away in between. No staff asked if we would like more drinks even though our glasses were all empty on table. We were offered a dessert menu but the wait for someone to take our order was so long that we chose not to and picked up a Tiramasu from supermarket on way home. Also the glasses were covered by n dishwasher marks , white smears which didn’t look great, Although the food was lovely we will not be visiting again or recommending, very slow service and not great attention to detail, The restaurant was by no means busy !!!

I'm vegan;"other half" is vegetarian coeliac.We can both eat happily here.You have no idea just how good that is to know.

Pizza's were good but the deserts were so small you needed a microscope to see them. It was a shame because the evening was really nice. The staff were very helpful and polite. Thanks for a enjoyable evening.

great CX at PEx Street... so good, I went two evenings in a row whilst visiting a friend in Glastonbury...

Unfortunately although service was good considering how busy it was, food was not great. Ordered two garlic bread with cheese and a calamari. All food came out to table burnt. The calamari was inverted so the non burnt side was facing up but very crispy underneath. Disappointing.

We went to the pizza express in Street in Somerset . We were seated straight away, and drinks were ordered. The table and chairs were clean and tidy, and though the restaurant was busy, we were not on top of each other in there. The pizzas were delicious. 10/10!

Me and my husband enjoyed every single moment while having our food and drink. We love coming at your restaurant while shopping at the outlet. It's our little pleasure. Thank you for being there. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A lovely lady called Alexandra (Romanian) welcomed us with a delightful smile and found us a perfect cosy table for two. She went out of her way to help with the menu and wine selection etc. She was polite, cheerful and very helpful. Thank you. x

10minutes wait to get menu . Ordered food and drinks , waited 10 minutes for water to turn up as the waitress had forgotten about it. 40 minutes wait for meal. Pizzas were very chewy. Ordered Coffee, 10 minutes wait again. Very poor service. Won't be going there again.!!!!!!

Walked in and was waiting 52 minutes for our food. I noticed they are more bothered about delivery then people waiting in. Pizza didn't even stay together all cheese was falling off and didn't stick to the base. Very poor for a so called big company rather get Chicago Town pizza frozen and cook myself

Lovely food, great service with a smile

We arrived as a party of six, we were served by the most pleasant and engaging young man. All six of us had starters and mains and it was all cooked to perfection without a long wait for any of it. We paid by vouchers and again the same young man was very patient when we had to start all over because a mistake was made. Thank you Pizza Express Street, your food, service and staff are amazing 👍 So we decided to return on 11th November, waited by the door for a while until we were spoken to. Lad went off to a table and came back and told another employee the table he wanted us on. We were given our menus and unfortunately that was all we had served to us. I kept trying to make eye contact with anyone that would look my way but no one would, people came in after us and their orders were taken. So we walked out, very disappointed with the service this time, only came back because it was so special the last time. Change of staff maybe?

Took my 7yo son and his friends here for a birthday party. It was fantastic. Staff were amazing and did a fabulous job of keeping the children entertained and happy. I wish I caught the name of the lady who hosted the party - she was brilliant. A huge thank you to her for making the party so special. Everything leading up to the party was great too - easy and quick booking, with a follow up call on the day to discuss details. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, not too loud and not too quiet, and the facilities were clean. Thanks again to the team at Pizza Express for a lovely time.

We always call in at Pizza Express, Somerset as part of our annual holiday. Despite recent poor Trip Advisor reviews we called in today when the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy to find only one member of staff on duty. Poor quality dough balls (a first at Pizza Express ever) and virtually no garlic butter and staff member asked for more…we gave up after 10 minutes when she finally arrived back and walked out. Avoid!

Friendly and quick service with very good pizza.

Myself and my best friend visited here on Wednesday 4th October at approx 6.45pm and had a terrible experience. We first took a while to choose our meals and starters. When we finally finished ordering we swiftly got our starter in which tasted horrible and with no side plates to eat on. Then once we'd eaten 2 dough balls each we found a long brown hair in the Chipotle sauce which put us off hugely. We then complained and the waiter was very apologetic which was good but very disappointed in the starter. We didn't get any more starters, we just went to the main courses which were classic pizzas. At first the pizzas were lovely and hot, but then the cheese and crusts were horrible and burnt. We left half of our pizza each as we were very dissatisfied with it all. The service was great, and the very nice waiter had taken off the starter and our 2 drinks off the main bill, + 20% discount and removed the tip which we really appreciated however when you see a long brown hair in the food it really puts you off eating the rest of the food. We couldn't figure out whose hair it was as the chef had a hat on and looked bald. Really bad experience, I would never return.

Amazing time here today, just happened to pop in with my partner and 14 month old for lunch. Chris was amazing during our time here making us very comfortable and a pleasure to be around, very approachable, best waiting experience. Mimi was the chef at the time and the food was delicious (our daughter ate more than she threw on the floor which was definitely a compliment 😂). Thank you 😊

We walked in after 9 pm this we were the only people in the restaurant but Chris the manager was fantastic let us stay for a pizza & could have not been kinder.

Visited here Sunday 3rd Sept 2023 having been in Sept 2020. Got a seat ok. Great menu and prices ok. we both had lasagnes which were very nice indeed, beats any pub type. Our server was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble to her. Toilets were very clean

Me and my family visiting street, decided to eat in pizza express, 2 of my family members works for pizza express Portsmouth. Unfortunately the service wasn’t that great, soonest we walked in the first thing we heard was the waiting hour for food is over a hour and we don’t have a table for sever, he walked away and we waited another 5 min for another person to come in (lady curly hair) with accent, this time my wife was leading the conversation as I was already upset with the lack of service, the laid first question was “what do you want ?”. We really wanted to have a pizza as we know how great the food is in pizza express, and the service has always been great, but not on this one. Over 7 free tables, lack of service, rudeness and disrespect for the customer. Don’t think this this is how pizza express employees are trained to serve a customer.

We are fuming with our experience we waited over an hour for the pizzas to be cooked, 2 pizzas between 4 of us. So not a big amount, we noticed several tables being served that arrived long after us. I asked a member of staff who just apologised & said it's in the oven so won't be long. That's it, when I went to pay I was given the full bill nothing deducted for the inconvenience we had, so I told the boss on leaving we won't be back & they should change the name from Pizza express to Pizza wait, to which he said lots have said that lately. No way will we return, be aware the service is awful

Pizza was average. Wait time was 45 minutes. Service was stroppy. Not up to Pizza Express' usual standard.

Pizza express? More pizza pedestrian. Firstly, Andrei, seems to be single handedly manning, taking orders and delivering food for the whole restaurant while the manager gets followed around by the other staff all looking lost. Not sure if he had a bunch of new starters of his training methods are terrible but it provoked an observation from an 8 year old. Food, not what it was, pizzas undercooked, calamari over. But not worth bothering the long suffering Andrei for.. my biggest disappointment though, apart from 2 hours to get fed, was the dough balls... one portion, four for one of the kids looked great, the rest... we'll see the pic.

Awful food. The worst food I’ve had in a long time. I’m not one to review on restaurants but I had to put one on for here. We got a takeaway which took nearly an hour with us waiting for it. The pizza was cardboard, literally. The most thin tasteless pizza I’ve ever had. I couldn’t eat it and neither could my children and they’re usually not fussy, at all! The chips were awful. And the canelloni tasted like rubber. Nearly £70 for a family dinner to be put in the bin. Never experienced this at a pizza express such a shame.

Nice friendly staff and good food and service

Very disappointed. Staff didn't seem interested had to ask 3 times for a pizza cutter as both pizzas were burnt round the edges and lifeless. There were only four other people in at the time so it wasn't like they were rushed off their feet.

Staff very friendly and couldn't leave without leaving a tip. Food good as always.

Stopped for lunch after a shopping trip, food was great service was even better! Our waitress sobia was super friendly and the male manager was amazing with the children! Will definitely be back!
