Pizza Express in Mendip

A well cooked pizza went down well with a side salad and garlic dough balls. The cheesecake they used to serve years ago was nicer than the ones served today but it tasted ok. Friendly staff too.

I'm vegan;"other half" is vegetarian coeliac.We can both eat happily here.You have no idea just how good that is to know.

Pizza's were good but the deserts were so small you needed a microscope to see them. It was a shame because the evening was really nice. The staff were very helpful and polite. Thanks for a enjoyable evening.

great CX at PEx Street... so good, I went two evenings in a row whilst visiting a friend in Glastonbury...

Unfortunately although service was good considering how busy it was, food was not great. Ordered two garlic bread with cheese and a calamari. All food came out to table burnt. The calamari was inverted so the non burnt side was facing up but very crispy underneath. Disappointing.

We went to the pizza express in Street in Somerset . We were seated straight away, and drinks were ordered. The table and chairs were clean and tidy, and though the restaurant was busy, we were not on top of each other in there. The pizzas were delicious. 10/10!

A lovely lady called Alexandra (Romanian) welcomed us with a delightful smile and found us a perfect cosy table for two. She went out of her way to help with the menu and wine selection etc. She was polite, cheerful and very helpful. Thank you. x

10minutes wait to get menu . Ordered food and drinks , waited 10 minutes for water to turn up as the waitress had forgotten about it. 40 minutes wait for meal. Pizzas were very chewy. Ordered Coffee, 10 minutes wait again. Very poor service. Won't be going there again.!!!!!!

Walked in and was waiting 52 minutes for our food. I noticed they are more bothered about delivery then people waiting in. Pizza didn't even stay together all cheese was falling off and didn't stick to the base. Very poor for a so called big company rather get Chicago Town pizza frozen and cook myself

Lovely food, great service with a smile

We arrived as a party of six, we were served by the most pleasant and engaging young man. All six of us had starters and mains and it was all cooked to perfection without a long wait for any of it. We paid by vouchers and again the same young man was very patient when we had to start all over because a mistake was made. Thank you Pizza Express Street, your food, service and staff are amazing 👍 So we decided to return on 11th November, waited by the door for a while until we were spoken to. Lad went off to a table and came back and told another employee the table he wanted us on. We were given our menus and unfortunately that was all we had served to us. I kept trying to make eye contact with anyone that would look my way but no one would, people came in after us and their orders were taken. So we walked out, very disappointed with the service this time, only came back because it was so special the last time. Change of staff maybe?

Took my 7yo son and his friends here for a birthday party. It was fantastic. Staff were amazing and did a fabulous job of keeping the children entertained and happy. I wish I caught the name of the lady who hosted the party - she was brilliant. A huge thank you to her for making the party so special. Everything leading up to the party was great too - easy and quick booking, with a follow up call on the day to discuss details. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, not too loud and not too quiet, and the facilities were clean. Thanks again to the team at Pizza Express for a lovely time.

We always call in at Pizza Express, Somerset as part of our annual holiday. Despite recent poor Trip Advisor reviews we called in today when the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy to find only one member of staff on duty. Poor quality dough balls (a first at Pizza Express ever) and virtually no garlic butter and staff member asked for more…we gave up after 10 minutes when she finally arrived back and walked out. Avoid!

Friendly and quick service with very good pizza.

Myself and my best friend visited here on Wednesday 4th October at approx 6.45pm and had a terrible experience. We first took a while to choose our meals and starters. When we finally finished ordering we swiftly got our starter in which tasted horrible and with no side plates to eat on. Then once we'd eaten 2 dough balls each we found a long brown hair in the Chipotle sauce which put us off hugely. We then complained and the waiter was very apologetic which was good but very disappointed in the starter. We didn't get any more starters, we just went to the main courses which were classic pizzas. At first the pizzas were lovely and hot, but then the cheese and crusts were horrible and burnt. We left half of our pizza each as we were very dissatisfied with it all. The service was great, and the very nice waiter had taken off the starter and our 2 drinks off the main bill, + 20% discount and removed the tip which we really appreciated however when you see a long brown hair in the food it really puts you off eating the rest of the food. We couldn't figure out whose hair it was as the chef had a hat on and looked bald. Really bad experience, I would never return.

Amazing time here today, just happened to pop in with my partner and 14 month old for lunch. Chris was amazing during our time here making us very comfortable and a pleasure to be around, very approachable, best waiting experience. Mimi was the chef at the time and the food was delicious (our daughter ate more than she threw on the floor which was definitely a compliment 😂). Thank you 😊

We walked in after 9 pm this we were the only people in the restaurant but Chris the manager was fantastic let us stay for a pizza & could have not been kinder.

Visited here Sunday 3rd Sept 2023 having been in Sept 2020. Got a seat ok. Great menu and prices ok. we both had lasagnes which were very nice indeed, beats any pub type. Our server was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble to her. Toilets were very clean

Me and my family visiting street, decided to eat in pizza express, 2 of my family members works for pizza express Portsmouth. Unfortunately the service wasn’t that great, soonest we walked in the first thing we heard was the waiting hour for food is over a hour and we don’t have a table for sever, he walked away and we waited another 5 min for another person to come in (lady curly hair) with accent, this time my wife was leading the conversation as I was already upset with the lack of service, the laid first question was “what do you want ?”. We really wanted to have a pizza as we know how great the food is in pizza express, and the service has always been great, but not on this one. Over 7 free tables, lack of service, rudeness and disrespect for the customer. Don’t think this this is how pizza express employees are trained to serve a customer.

We are fuming with our experience we waited over an hour for the pizzas to be cooked, 2 pizzas between 4 of us. So not a big amount, we noticed several tables being served that arrived long after us. I asked a member of staff who just apologised & said it's in the oven so won't be long. That's it, when I went to pay I was given the full bill nothing deducted for the inconvenience we had, so I told the boss on leaving we won't be back & they should change the name from Pizza express to Pizza wait, to which he said lots have said that lately. No way will we return, be aware the service is awful

Pizza was average. Wait time was 45 minutes. Service was stroppy. Not up to Pizza Express' usual standard.

Pizza express? More pizza pedestrian. Firstly, Andrei, seems to be single handedly manning, taking orders and delivering food for the whole restaurant while the manager gets followed around by the other staff all looking lost. Not sure if he had a bunch of new starters of his training methods are terrible but it provoked an observation from an 8 year old. Food, not what it was, pizzas undercooked, calamari over. But not worth bothering the long suffering Andrei for.. my biggest disappointment though, apart from 2 hours to get fed, was the dough balls... one portion, four for one of the kids looked great, the rest... we'll see the pic.

Awful food. The worst food I’ve had in a long time. I’m not one to review on restaurants but I had to put one on for here. We got a takeaway which took nearly an hour with us waiting for it. The pizza was cardboard, literally. The most thin tasteless pizza I’ve ever had. I couldn’t eat it and neither could my children and they’re usually not fussy, at all! The chips were awful. And the canelloni tasted like rubber. Nearly £70 for a family dinner to be put in the bin. Never experienced this at a pizza express such a shame.

Nice friendly staff and good food and service

Very disappointed. Staff didn't seem interested had to ask 3 times for a pizza cutter as both pizzas were burnt round the edges and lifeless. There were only four other people in at the time so it wasn't like they were rushed off their feet.

Arrived at midday and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Finally went to find a someone who then seated me. When they returned with the menu they told me there was currently a 45 minute wait on food. Pizza undercooked and a really disappointing visit

The service is scarily poor, I have been waiting my pizza for about 50 minutes, disappointing. Pizza came with no topping on it just a dry crust and waiting for the bill was even more draining, had to wait 10 minutes after repeatedly asking! Do better!, I will not be coming back!

Excellent meal at Pizza Express Street. We shared doughballs (always great) a romana pizza and the linguini. Both delicious, great portions. Plenty of toppings on the pizza. My daughter loved her children’s meal, the three courses is really good value. Quick service. Our server was very helpful and polite, had time for a chat with us and our little one. Best pizza Express I've been too. (Street) Good service and great food. I have coeliac disease and they cater for gluten intolerance which is great. The gf garlic doughballs were particularly yum! Would highly recommend a visit

Visited tonight for a birthday tea for daughter with family and friends. Absolutely Fantastic. Nothing too much trouble. Staff were all friendly and helpful, food was enjoyed by all. All the staff on shift joined in singing happy birthday which was lovely. Thank you so much. Will be back!

Food was average, service was good, but the price was outrages. We ordered, Dough balls, (to share) Pasta dish (each, which was tiny portions) Pizza (to share, which was tiny) Pudding (each, which was tiny portions) and 3 drinks. (each) = £116 And didn't even fill full up

Thank you to Alex! We visited yesterday 07/04/23. Our son is autustic and was having a visible meltdown during lunch. She came over and did so much to distract him and make him feel happier. Once he calmed down she got him to help her choose his drink from the fridge, pick his pudding and gave him extra strawberries with sauce 🤩. Then before leaving she gave him a biscuit before playing chase & hide/seek around the restaurant. Thank you for making our lunch time a better experience. No 2 days are the same with our son. We had a fantastic experience here this evening, the service was incredible and food was great. All the team in there were polite, courteous and attentive and engaged so well with our 2 kids. A huge shout out to our server Blade though- who our kids absolutely loved. An absolute credit to the store, very good at what he does and really left a great impression on our family. Thanks to blade and all the team.

Delicious food and great service.

My wife ordered a pasta dish, I had a pizza. The food was cold and whilst I managed to eat my pizza my wife sent her pasta back which meant we had to eat separately as I had finished my pizza before my wife's meal was returned. The plates were very cold, not even at room temperature, which contributed to the problem. During our visit we saw a number of meals sent to the wrong tables and there was at least one other customer in dispute with the staff. On the way out, we advised the manager as we did not want others to experience the same problem.

We went to Pizza Express (Street) today and was welcomed with open arms even though we came with a list of allergies and intolerances, none of these phased our wonderful server. He was great, read back everything to ensure the correct order was going forwards and all allergies and intolerances were catered for (Gluten, dairy, egg). Would certainly go there again although maybe book first if planning on going at a busy time of day. A very positive experience, thank you

Me and my partner went here for a meal. We were really disappointed and won't be rushing back anytime soon. I thought the food was expensive for what it was and the atmosphere was loud and we couldn't actually chat because I couldn't hear. The stsrter of dougballs came out first, luke warm. My partner had a lasagne, which came out first. It was burnt around the edges and the portion size was small. After 5 mins of waiting, I told him to tuck in so it didn't go cold. 5 mins later and the manager came over to apologise that the lasagne was someone else's and that my carbonara shouldn't be too long. We also had polenta chips to go with the lasagne which eventually came out with my meal, by which time he had finished his lasagne. My carbonara tastes burnt but didn't look it. Personally I would have been more happy with a tesco microwave meal, it would have tasted better. The polenta chips were very oily. Staff were pleasant but we were apologised to 3 times, the person who covered our table seemed unaware and just seem to be a general lack of communicstion. The drinks and pudding were the best bit. Cost just shy of £70. Disappointed was an understatement.

We have just eaten in Pizza Express Street and it is the best (of many) experience we've ever had at a Pizza Express restaurant. The food came incredibly quickly, was piping hot and delicious. The gent serving us was friendly, polite and attentive as was the lady serving this evening. We were able to pay for the food with Tesco vouchers, which made it really affordable. The whole restaurant was clean and tidy and the toilets were immaculate too. We don't live locally, but frequently visit and we will be sure to dine at this PE when we do. Many thanks to all staff.

We took my granddaughter there as it was her 6th birthday. We hadn't told the staff but they noticed her 6 today badge and at the end of the meal they brought her a lovely plate with happy birthday written in caramel and a brownie with a candle on it. Lovely touch and much appreciated !

First attempt for a espresso: Black brew without any crema. Second attempt: Crema on but it was not recognisable a crema. Pizza: it is hard to get even a mediocre pizza in GB but this one gets the first price for being bad. But the price for two pizzas two coffees and a bottle of water was exceptional high.

Arrived as they opened with two toddlers. The service was fab and we were really well looked after. Food was quick and good standard. Thank you

Nice Food and very friendly staff

I am compelled to complain today after visiting your restaurant yesterday and receiving the most disappointing meal ever for your establishment and the lack of service care we received. Your not a fast food chain and I admit that I am more than happy to wait for excellent food (normally is) but when the manageress comes over and says that your food wont be long now as it is in the oven when the restaurant only had four tables seated, I found strange and should have sounded alarms! We ordered 3 pizzas on top starter which eventually came and my wife and I looked at ours in disbelief as the topping were only to be described as baron in comparison. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures but if you look at the advertised images than there was no comparison. Example. Spicy Giuseppe - green peppers pieces 4 in total placed one piece in each quarter and a length of 12mm for 3 pieces and a whooping 30mm for the final piece. There was no red onion or sliced chilli. To be totally honest it was a margarita with a tablespoon of ground beef and 4 bits of green peppers. Their was absolutely no spice at all and was more like a sloppy Giuseppe as it was dripping oil. The other disgraceful pizza served was the Funghi Di Bosch. Again the pizza did nor resemble what was the advertised image and was a margarita with some sparsely placed NON chestnut mushrooms given a ample room to manoeuvre a child’s small toy car around the top of the pizza without cause of concern of hitting a incorrect mushroom! There definitely wasn’t any rosemary or finished off with parsley and Gran Milano cheese! The only pizza that had some similarity to the advertised image was the Polla Ad Astra but again with reserved presentation of topping ingredients but not as bad as the first two mentioned. I beckoned the waitress over and explained that the Spicey Giuseppe had no spice and was disappointing. She offered myself some ground chilli flakes but I opted for the chilli oil which I asked to be changed as this even had no chilli taste. She even admitted it hadn’t infused and brought another bottle over which unfortunately was worse. Disappointment on disappointment. Apart from me beckoning over the waitress, there was no interaction or interest in the customers experience. So I find myself writing this email with a deflated mood as we have eaten numerous times at this establishment and others Pizza Expresses without never walking away disappointed and unhappy.

Had the most beautifull pizza ever from this lovely place we have bruchetta to start lovely and hot all the food was cooked fresh are pizza was the best ever The staff here were very welcoming and polite it was a pleasure to have such a lovely meal from here can't praise this place enough THANKYOU

Took daughter in law and granddaughter in for lunch. After sitting at table for 30 minutes and three tables of people being served before us although they arrived after and had not reserved, I asked if we could be served. The restaurant wasn't even half full. Requested a straw for granddaughter to drink her drink but never got one, food arrived after another 45 minutes. My 5 year old granddaughter was given an activity sheet to draw and colour but when we asked for pencils to do activity sheet whist waiting for food we were told they didn't have any spare ones. Lots of tables needed clearing, the staff were too busy stood chatting to each other and our table was sticky. Before leaving we used the toilets, they were dirty and none had toilet roll in. Won't be re visiting.

The best Pizza Express we’ve been to, & one of the nicest family friendly restaurants we’ve been to anywhere!! Your staff member Michael just made our visit amazing from start to finish, welcoming our three year old little boy with us, and when we said we were unsure what he might eat off the kids menu because he’s a really fussy toddler, Michael used his initiative and pulled out all the stops to get our little boy involved with the cooking to entice him to eat, and it worked!! They made a pizza together at the table which he was able to take to the chefs himself to cook, and then he was rewarded with the ice cream station after. If only every Pizza Express (and every restaurant for that matter) had a Michael working there who just took our casual dining experience from the usual average to absolutely excellent!! He said he used to work as a children’s entertainer before, & his mum was a pre school head teacher, hence why he’s a dab hand at entertaining the little ones, but he joined pizza express 4yrs ago and stayed ever since as he loves it there! So, Pizza Express bosses if you’re reading this, he needs to be acknowledged for his hard work please and the fantastic efforts he’s making to enhance your brand’s reputation. The food was also excellent and the other staff were lovely too. Thank you :)

AVOID! People were leaving without eating cos fed up with waiting for food! We waited and finally received a chewy half cooked pizza. We and many others will not return
