The Well Inn in Mendip

Booked a 2 night stay with breakfast included. Went down in the morning for breakfast to find the bar and reception all locked up. No food. Had to go elsewhere for breakfast, making me late for meeting. Room was very small and noisy.

Terrible. Oddly quiet upon entering, you could count the people in the bar/restaurant area on one hand, for a Friday night it seemed strange to say the least. The receptionist wasn't helpful at all and shooed us off to our room shortly after everything was all okay with check in. The room wasnt very big at all. The mattress was incredibly lumpy, you could feel every spring and it was too big for the bed frame and over hung either side. The bathroom was very poor, the fixtures were hanging off the walls, the look of the bathroom and the shower was incredibly poor, looked like it had been fitted and decorated by a child. I think maybe the cleaners need a bit more attention to detail as the room was filthy. Everywhere you looked dust was gathering. On returning from dinner, as we felt if the food was as bad as the rooms we certainly wouldn't eat there and plus they don't do food past 8pm, we noticed what the receptionist failed to mention earlier was to enter our registration into the tablet for the parking. However, very conveniently, the hotel and bar area was all locked down and couldn't access the tablet. This was only just after 9 pm, and it says it is all locked and closed at 10pm. We have recently found out we now have a parking charge, obviously, you cannot make it up. As you have guessed, we certainly won't be staying again.

Stayed here for two week through work, rooms are small but decent, only for sleeping anyway, food and staff was next level, would definitely recommend,

We stayed for one night at this establishment . We arrived at 8.30pm and went straight to our room as we had had a long drive and had an early start the next day . The room was disappointing . We knew it was a small double and it was actually larger than expected but that was the only good point . The room was grubby, tired , flaking paint , dirty bathroom floor , dusty , fittings loose in bathroom ( tap , loo roll holder , towel rail . The tv control didn’t work properly , we couldn’t turn the volume down . The room was very warm , there was a fan available but it was dusty , the bed was so uncomfortable the mattress had no support and we had to be careful not to get to close to the edge as the mattress became so compact it was hard not to roll off the edge we checked the mattress in the morning and it was full of stains . We should really of spoken to the manager but we didn’t want to go down into the bar once we had got ready for bed , we just wanted to have some sleep so we could be ready and off early in the morning .

We expected so much more from the Well Inn, but were very disappointed. A very basic hotel, breakfast was tea and toast, the bar is newly refurbished but the tv didn’t work. Our room was very small, bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. No food on a Sunday and the bar was closed at 4.

We popped in here looking for a drink and a light lunch, we were told that they were only doing Sunday roast, a response we had had from several other establishments, i said we were only looking for a sandwich. The owner asked us to wait while he checked with the kitchen, he returned with good news and we were served a wonderful sandwich with chips and salad. It doesn’t seem much but this is what I call top notch customer service, we were turned away from 2 other pubs in the area that were only doing Sunday lunch and basically snubbed us. The bar and restaurant had obviously had a a recent makeover and looked very contemporary. Would imagine the same customer focus and hospitality would be afforded to guests staying there.

This was a gem of a find it is under new management.. the whole place is lovely .. staff wonderful owner is lovely and food was great ..we visited on the way to shepton mallet prison .. perfect pit stop would definitely recommend

My friend and I went here for dinner, we were a little apprehensive as our friend didn't recommend the lunch they had recently. All we can say is that is was absolutely awful, the food is trying to be something it isn't, its meant to be a "pub" but the food is not comforting at all like what you would expect from a pub. Over hyped menu and lacked much flavour. We won't be returning or recommending.

Popped in for lunch as saw that the pub was under new management. All I can say is WOW! The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced! Belly pork and goats cheese salad was so so tasty!! Will definitely be coming back soon with my friend who I rang after eating here to tell her delicious the food was! The revamp inside was also beautiful, has such a lovely vibe to it. Can't wait to come back again soon! Thank you 😊
