Pret A Manger in Mendip

Lovely breakfast options, great tea and coffee, but all spoilt by the most miserable, unfriendly staff member serving, I've ever had the misfortune to be served by. It wasn't just us either, she was like it with everyone. It made us laugh to read the poster in store (shown). the secret is apparently " real smiles..... friendly banter..... " Not on a Monday morning apparently. I know it's probably a thankless task, I get that, but isn't customer service and a smile part of that job? We went into Clarks village and every other shop worker, bar none, gave us a friendly greeting and a smile. I hope she's OK, I recommend meditating first thing to help with stress. Update: I'm assuming that your response to my review is sarcasm, otherwise you really are clueless and your claims to value customer service are simply talk.

Nice coffees and selection of snacks

I have been to Prets all over the UK, this is by far the worst one. The older man who served us (who I think may have been the Manager) with a foreign accent was unfriendly, unprofessional and passive aggressive. Tables rocked back and forth so you easily spill drinks and to top it all off the mocca was garbage. Don't waste your money here. Reading through the past negative reviews all they do is reply and apologise the same generic response and nothing changes. Talk is cheap.

Bad coffee, mediocre food and high prices.

Cold drinks are tasteless and bland. You need to pay £3.90 for this water mix.

As usual clean, good food but some of the drinks combinations are getting weird, trying too hard?

Lunch today at Pret in Clarkes Village, Street. Salad bowl, Swedish Meatball Hit Wrap and MacyCheese. All ok but quite expensive for the quality. I would have liked more choice but selection here is typical for this type of restaurant. As always, staff were polite and friendly, thankyou.

Great salad ideas but PLEASE leave avo out than add when hard as a rock. Avo's are delicious and are possibly not sustainable enough to waste having travelled 10 000kms. Thanks

Only visited for morning coffee. Service was good coffee nice. Looked like there was a good range of snacks. Place was clean and airy with plenty of seating

The food is mediocre at best and why do you charge extra for eating in when no plates nor cutlery are given with your meals. It's all serf service and are expected to chuck your own rubbish out once finished, nothing justifies why you should charge extra for eating in! Super expensive! Both myself and my partner and her family will never be returning to Pret!

Very bad service the girl serving us had an attitude ( as in bad) the coffee was awful. Sandwiches cost was absolutely expensive for a cheese and ham plus no butter in sandwiches. It was dirty everywhere will not eat at any pret a manger again due to whole experience at clarks village.

I bought two black Americanos and a bag of crisps. The coffee was awful. Over-extracted and too hot. Served in take-away cups, even though we stayed in. The acoustics in here are terrible too. If you have a hearing difficulty, stay away. (I'm an acoustic consultant.)

Dreadful. Dirty tables no napkins. Coffee dreadful, unbelievable waste, staff not hygienic and uninterested. Blowing noses, hands through hair, no hand washing before serving customers. Long wait for a toasty. No plate in site, had to eat out of greasy wrapping paper. Disgusting. We will definitely not go back.

I picked up 2 toasties (1 ham/cheese, 1 cheese) and handed them in at the till. Female member of staff unfriendly and not particularly polite, too busy flirting with a male member of staff. Waited for the lunch - it arrived with 1 tuna toastie instead of the cheese. I went back to see the male member of staff who had called out the order and explained that he had given me tuna instead of cheese. He was immediately curt and said I had picked up the wrong one! I explained again that I hadn’t and that I was vegetarian and would not have picked up tuna! At this point the female member of staff joined in to add that I had got it wrong. To avoid any further argument over the matter I asked for a refund. The male member of staff did give me a refund although they were both curt about it - no apology at all! I checked on the way out as to where the tuna toasties were and they were at the other end of the shelf to the cheese. Appalling customer service!

Generally very clean throughout, wide range of drink and food choices. Friendly staff. Outside area sometimes a little grubby but inside always very good

Nothing gluten free and hot. Salad again today. The Barista is working his socks off as only him seemingly able to make hot drinks. Sat at 12 noon too ...poor love is probably not going to get a break any time soon. The queue is long.

Messy, disgusting 🫣 toilets 🚻!! Very expensive eating 😑 especially as you are offered NO plates, WOODEN cutlery (YUCK YUCK YUCK) overflowing bins!! Filthy floors!!

absolutely disgusting, water and food all over the floor, toilets disgusting and no toilet roll. limited food options and seems understaffed by the state of the restaurant, very mucky. paid extra to eat in and was still given a paper cup for my coffee and no plates!! what am i paying extra for???

Went in and was thoroughly disappointed. 25 minutes for a cheese toastie and 2 Americano coffees.....tables were unwiped.... One of the staff emptied the bins and went back to serving without washing his hands....... Come on.....up your game

Called in for coffee after shopping at Clark’s Village. Both the lattes were Luke warm and that is being generous. My wife witnessed one of the counter staff pressing the rubbish down in the bin to the side of the counter that was overflowing and then straight back to serving she never washed her hands. How can this be hygienic. A sure way of passing and carrying germs potentially giving unsuspecting members of the public food poisoning. Avoid this place unless of course you want to end up in hospital.

Food was tasty. Drink were good and hot, had to ask for serviette. Disappointed with friendliness of staff member that served me, actually looked short staffed. Tables weren’t cleared. Toilet was disgusting, floor wasn’t very clean, toilet seat loose. Only one toilet, disabled toilet was out of order. No baby changing facilities. When I came out, a mother was changing her baby on the floor. Very unhygienic. There is room for a fold away changing table

We lunched there today 05/12/23. Lunch - tasty Service - wasn’t very impressed. Member of staff that served me wasn’t overly friendly. Cleanliness - tables weren’t cleared, looked short staffed! Toilets - disgusting. Only one toilet, it wasn’t clean, disabled toilet was out of order. No facility for changing your baby. When walked out a mother was changing her baby on the floor. Floor wasn’t very clean, unhygienic

This is Pret in Clarks Village. I feel bad in having to say this but we weren't impressed. One hot chocolate, one latte and one chai latte. One cheese toastie, a vegetable roll and a small carrot cake slice, cost £27!!! The latte was warm and bitter, the hole in the cup lid was non-existent. I took it back and requested a hot coffee, and when it came it was the same as the first. The veggie roll was dry and nothing to shout home about, in fact the wooden knife they gave us to cut it (3 portions) would just about cut butter, so we gave up on that. The cheese toastie was hard and slightly overdone, I've had better! No full fat milk (who do they think you are, Nanny Pret?) I'm sorry to give a negative review, but all three of us were unimpressed.

Overpriced, not very clean, and a slow service, even though the staff were very polite. Tables need a deep clean.

Our first stop for coffee and a sandwich when we go to Clarke's Village. Plenty of room to get a table.

I loved my wrap and cake. However not 100% convinced my coffee was the decaf I ordered. My heart was racing shortly after.!! Good job I have pills for that!

Tables to squashed together, people got grumpy trying to fit. How daft running out of milk at the lunch time rush?? No hot drinks available. On a cold wet day.

As is the norm,not much vegan or vegetarian choice and only the "ever present "brownie for the passing coeliac.

Went here Saturday whilst out for a spot of shopping. The food was not labelled accurately, and was tepid, not hot. The staff member barely spoke to me, was blunt when I asked a simple questions, and ushered up the next customer and started serving him before I had even put my pin in the card machine. Generally okay, but too busy for the staff to give good customer service.

CHARGING EXTRA TO EAT-IN!!!! We've been customers since the late 90's in London but we're going off Pret. We always stop at the Street branch for lunch on our way out but it's getting very expensive. £19 for two drinks, a salad and a sandwich..... what really annoyed me was the extra cost per item to eat in! Probably another £3-4 on top of the £19. That was a bad decision. 👎 and then you have to subscribe for the best prices...... seriously all we want is coffee and a quick bit of lunch. Three prices for every item. Madness. Collection of hot drinks was consistently chaotic with customers unsure what belonged to who. Baristas were chucking drinks down the drain. Mine, a pumpkin latte was announced as a vanilla latte but after sitting getting cold for five minutes the batista abruptly said it was pumpkin after all (it was vanilla by the way). Not a good experience and we won't hurry back. You're getting greedy Pret and customer service at this branch has gone down hill a lot. Eat-in costs make customers feel unwelcome.

I was served by a lovely chap called Louis, he was very pleasant and was asking me how my day was! Loved being served by him. However, the manager seemed a bit off and forgot to even make my drink before asking ‘what are you waiting for?’ Which came across slightly rude. Overall pleasant trip though!

Busy and somewhat stressful visit. Queued for a while to then queue again to get drink…after quite sometime and other customers after me being served I (with great effort) managed to catch the eye of a staff member and finally got my drink which had been forgotten!!…tables needed clearing throughout the restaurant…then a female staff member emptied a large bin..liquid puddled on the floor as she tied up the bin bag…she was then called back to the till where she went directly WITHOUT washing her hands 🙌!!!!????!!!!…..a few minutes later she returned to the bin bag and carried it out leaving a trail of fluid behind her….returning once again to the till area without clearing the fluid up….definitely dangerous to customers who could slip…there were some older people in the restaurant and in the end I got a “yellow wet floor sign” and stood it by the main area of wet floor…..very poor hygiene and staff attention…

Went in for two coffees just after opening was served in the paper cups even though we sat in. Chairs, tables and the floor had left over food crums on them. Only one person serving at the time untill 10am, Then two more members appear and made drinks for them self's

Pret is my favourite coffee chain and this one is no exception. Large, modern and with air conditioning. Always popular and it’s justified. Staff are friendly and efficient.

It’s OK but not fantastic. Seemed more expensive than Prêts I’ve been to in London and the outside tables had not been wiped. I asked a member of staff to come and clean the tables - to be fair, he did come outside and wipe a couple but not the one I was sitting at. I moved tables in the end to avoid having to eat in someone else’s crumbs. Don’t think I’d bother going there again which is a shame because Pret is a bit of a favourite usually.

2nd visit, no decaf coffee again! Badly stocked. Dirty tables and floor. Used to be the opposite, good selection and very clean. Can only assume it is bad management.

Very large pret store. Lots of seating inside and outside. Tables are cleaned quickly. Hot and cold food, snacks and cakes available here. Full range of coffee/tea/drinks menu. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The whole restaurant is clean, tidy, and well laid out.

Great coffee; sadly dogs aren’t allowed so we sat out on the terrace in the freezing English July summer weather 😑 Staff were lovely though….and they don’t make the (stupid) rules….

Horrified to find a customer sitting at an outside table with his dog and dog bowl on the table. I told the staff behind the counter about this, they informed me that as the table was outside it was okay! Do not feel that is is acceptable as it is very unhygienic as they do not clean the tables after every customer has left.

Usually excellent service. It does get very busy at times so on occasions it isn't perfect, but also understandable.

Absolutely appalling no plates, no proper cups no knives ect, will not be back.

Had a lovely chicken salad box with a lovely Caesar dressing. And a very nice iced coffee. The man who served was excellent. Went back into the store to sing his praises to the Team Leader.

Let's just say that the staff wouldn't win customer service employees of the year. I know it's not easy having to deal with customers - but hey, smiles & being polite cost nothing.

I visit this Pret in Clarks Village regularly- at least once a week. I always drink decaf coffee for health reasons. The last 4 times (over 4 weeks), no decaf has been available, apparently the machine is broken(?). I asked for decaf tea instead but they don’t serve this. Very disappointed as I have been a loyal customer for years.

We tend to get a snack here when at the outlet but have noticed it is becoming highly priced and lacking in former quality

The team are always really friendly and the place is clean. The food and coffee are as expected, delicious!

I tried the protein bowl with salmon egg and greens 🥬 and it was spectacular There was only one employee at the time and she was all over the place trying to keep everything under control well done to her

Large selection of sandwiches, baguettes and toasties at the Pret A Manger in the Clarks Village Shopping Centre, Somerset. Service good at this busy lunchtime venue. Quite expensive.

Table's to close can't sit down, coffee to weak, no control over kids running around it's not a playground. Never again..

Very little food choice on the shelves

Very busy, ran out of ordinary milk!

We went there to grab a quick drink and a coffee while visiting Clarks Village. It was 3pm and there was effectively nothing there apart from coke, green tea and peach drink, and sparkling water. Nothing else. Went to order 2 x lattes but they had ran out of milk apparently. Utterly pathetic.

We went in around 11.30am and found a table quite easily. Our food was lovely and fresh with lots of interesting options to choose from. The very berry croissant looked amazing but wasn't great - it might have been best warm - and the cheese twist was delicious.

Really nice and friendly staff and the Hot Chocolate was very much welcome after going ice skating, only downside was toilets were out of order but other toilets were available nearby so not a big problem.

Lovely staff, particularly the server Sofia, extremely welcoming and friendly on an extremely busy day with a long queue!

Pret A Manger are always busy and it's not surprising as the food is good and the coffee is always nice. My disabled partner is treated so well by the staff we will always head here for a coffee break. Thanks Pret.

Very good tomato soup, nice and hot. Sandwiches were good too.

Appreciate it was busy, but I waited 15 minutes after ordering to be served a hot drink. When the employee called out the drink for collection I politely said it was mine and he angrily snapped at me 'Well I've been calling out for five minutes!' Which he demonstrably had not as I was stood at the side bar waiting that long. Even were it the case that he had been calling it out, I hadn't complained and I was speaking pleasantly without any hostility. No need to take your frustration out on the customer!

Very poor service today. One member of staff was helpful but only after I complained. Also overpriced. Sandwich quality was poor.

First time using and last ! Long queue , staff ignoring customers ! Dared asked if I could be served and snapped at by rude (apparently overworked lady) due to staff shortages and only 2 working covering the whole site ! Quite frankly if your open you should be able to cope, shouting and sly comments to customers who want to eat not the best representation, didn’t bother getting a drink just snack and left, no hello, no thank you, no conversation, just plain rude and terrible customer service.

Good quality food and friendly staff. Tables was cleaned promptly when customers left, however the cleanliness of the toilets was not great and we had to search for some hand sanitiser, several of the bottles were empty.

Friendly staff, spacious premises and some of the best made lattes and flat white’s I’ve had at Pret. Highly recommended.

Hot day, wanted a cold drink, they had absolutely nothing left. You’d think they would prepare for the weather. Then I had to pay £2.10 for a bottle of water that tastes foul

Visited on a Friday afternoon, it was only about 20 percent full. There did not appear to be a staff shortage, but we could not find a clean table, crumbs everywhere. So, we cleaned a table ourselves, whilst we were there a young lady using a soft sort of brush/mop swept the floor three times but didn’t wipe a single table. Although must people are thinking Covid is over, the tables should be cleaned regularly irrespectively of Covid or not, it’s just simple hygiene, perhaps a little staff training is needed? There appeared to be a plumbing problem as the main toilets had a closed sign on the door.

Our first trip to the Clarke's Village outlet and the heavens opened. Thank goodness for the Pret nearby. Busy, but efficient. One of our orders was wrong otherwise they would get 5 stars, but it was replaced instantly.

I dropped a star from my previous rating. Disposable cups still being served for drink in, which most other places have got rid of since lockdowns ended. One loo out of order and the other in need of attention, with a loose handle and wet floor. But big, spacious and cheerful. It didn’t seriously detract from our experience.

today I had the pleasure of being served with my wife by a wonderful "blue haired" employee who made two frappe with hazelnut and mocha extraordinary, thank you very much we will definitely be back

We bought two soups, with rolls. Unfortunately no butter available, the rolls were sour dough and very chewy. Staff member who served us, took our money but didn’t bother to tell us where to find spoons, just walked off instead. Reasonably clean, but could be improved upon.

Came in with someone I was supporting. The lad behind the till Corey was really nice and friendly gave me my espresso free when I ordered for me and the invidual I was supporting. And was helpful when I needed to reassure it was okay to stay while the staff were cleaning round.

We had a late lunch at this place and sat out in the sun. The place was busy but the staff were managing to keep the tables sanitized between customers and showing a friendly face to everyone that walked in. Good food and drinks - nothing to complain about

A quick drink and snack inbetween Christmas shopping, more staff than customers, one member of staff skipping and running around cleaning, cardboard cups and a paper bag for toasted sandwich, no plates or decent cups to drink from, plastic cutlery. Hot chocolate was tasteless, this was not an inviting place to visit, never going there again, although staff were happy, one person on the till others members of staff milling around even though there was a queue of customers, very disappointing.

Popped in to get a couple of hot drinks to warm us up after a couple of hours of shopping. I have to say what a lovely store, staff busy cleaning anything that didn’t move. Quickly stopped to serve with a smile, drinks clearly labelled to denote allergens. Hazelnut coconut milk hot chocolate was really well made no powder residue at the bottom and a lovely heat without burning the tongue. Cappuccino was very nice also a good temperature so coffee wasn’t burnt. Thank you to the team working today. 😊

Quick service, good value for money

All you have come to expect from pret, service was quick and friendly. Lots of seating inside and covered seating outside. This is a larger outlet but it can get busy especially at the weekend.

Manager needs retraining It wasn't very busy when we went for lunch. The manager was obnoxious to a member of staff. He was making coffee and very charming. But was there any need for the manager to belittle him in front of me. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. We will not be going back to see a manger bully the staff.

We went to Pret A Manger in Clark's Village and was disgusted with the way the manager bullied the staff. It was very uncomfortable to hear.The manager needs to be told about her bullying staff is against employment laws.

It was ok but I ate in and I might just as well have paid less and and took out the coffee and croissant as it wasn't served in a plate or in a mug. Lesson learned. Next time pay takeaway price and don't eat in, as there's no difference in experience.

Lots of things out of stock by 2pm but the meatless meatball vegan wrap was tasty and not too spicy. Good lunch :)

The place is light and airy unlike other coffee chains. They have coped well with the changing Covid rules. The staff are friendly and do an amazing job considering how busy it can get. The food is fresh, the place is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant This is my go to place for coffee.

A bit expensive by comparison to Costa for the same thing.

I would seldom ever be a person to write a negative review, but I was simply appalled by Pret A Manger in Clark’s Village yesterday 20th June. The manager in charge was rude, loud, noisy, and belligerent. The way he ordered his staff around was so disrespectful, it was painful to watch. The entire inside area was dominated by his booming voice. It was shocking. The customers all scuttled out, and nobody look particularly at ease. Sorry.. but such person should not be employed! I will never go there again.

The salads have been revamped and are super. Chicken Laksa delicious - liked the large and small choice - perfect. Miso soup is a great addition. Service was efficient, especially over peak lunch service. Well done to the team at Street - we had a great visit.

A very nice surprise, we were after a quick snack before a long drive home. We chose Pret over Costa as we don't have a local branch. The range of food was great, all of us had something different and all of the food looked great. The staff were also very helpful and even though they were not able to make my wife's initial drink choice they provided her replacement free of charge. This was above and beyond what we expected! Fantastic!
