Always fun, good food, but slow service.

Visited for lunch and have to say what a pleasurable and enjoyable experience! Instantly evident is the professionalism and positivity of the staff, it was obvious that they enjoy working there. The restaurant was immaculate in every way. Really nice atmosphere, excellent choice on the menu and the food arrived quickly and was to a very high standard. We would recommend this as an ideal lunch to anyone. First class throughout.

Although it was very quiet, we were rushed to make our order. Over priced and food underwhelming. Very unimpressed. Food was not hot. Will not go back

Popped in here for a drink after seeing in 2025! It was a real honour to meet some of my boyfriend's sister's friends. Great place for people watching.

Wow what a welcome, what a night, I am one of the Cape Cornwall Singers, I have never experienced such a great welcome and such superb hospitality, the food was simply stunning and the atmosphere exceptionally friendly, my heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to both Landlord & Landlady. Hugh

Sad to hear how the curly haired waitress was speaking to an elderly customer whilst I waited in line. They refused her cash payment, the lady politely said, I don't have cards. The waitress in a rude tone replied... yeah and I don't make the rules so.... Qnother customer offered to buy the lady a drink on her way out but she declined. The pasty I had was nice but the drinks took ages to be made and were tepid. Such a shame.... Won't be returning.

had 2 pasties from Truro today.Tasty but was not until I got to the last corner realised it must be a veggie by misteak...Hope they get another visit soon,butcher be good,or standards ..poor visitors from Everywhere!

Food tasted very nice but not as described on the menu. We ordered the posh kebabs but was more like a cold wrap but the menu says open flat bread. Atmosphere was fine and the service was good. Not sure if I would rush back.

Tapas are delicious, easy to eat. Lovely cocktails. Chip in my glass led to a quick replacement cocktail with no hassel. Great evening.

Amazing pub, really good choice of beer, winderfull staff and lots of great live music.

Every time I go home to Cornwall, I try and get at least one fry up in from here. Absolutely lush, good size portions, cheap price and the staff are lovely

Ok, well I don't like to give bad reviews but considering I spent £25 and had such a bad experience I think it's right to inform anyone thinking of getting a delivery from here.. So, I ordered mixed starters for one, crispy beef and chilli chips. Mixed starter, probably the only edible thing to arrive, although super oily and a lot of the stuff was dry, and not crispy... The sweet chilli beef was literally like sand inside... The sauce was nice but the beef was horrendous, like carbonated inside, didn't feel like eating meat.. More like charcoal... The chips.... Clearly fried from ages ago, or fried badly.. Soft cold wet outside, dry inside.. No real flavour.. Portion was massive, but sadly just more to go into the bin... Yeah, what else can I say, simply awful experience, for what was meant to be a massive nice meal ended up eating cereal for dinner..😅

So, just had a sorry experience at Sole Plaice. Arrived at 20:05 and as the website claims to be open until 21:00 I should expect to have a choice. I should also explain that previously I’d arrived at the same time and was greeted with smiling female faces. Tonight however, I surprised a rather mystified gent behind the fryers who looked at me like a rabbit does the headlights of a barrelling car. I asked for 2 cod and chips and I sausage and chips to which the rabbit told me all he had was the driest piece of fish he cod muster on the warming plate, 4 rather small and tired sausages and some battered sausages which I didn’t see but can ‘t expect them to have left me wanting more. I questioned that the website said you close at 21:00 to which the rabbit tailed off whilst telling me he had a busy day. As I had been away from home for the day and needed and wanted sustenance I opted for the loneliest battered fish in the world and two sausage and chips. After the rabbits doe-eyed companion tried to bamboozle me with that’s two sausage and chip? No, it’s still for three people I eventually left and unlike my last experience with Sole Plaice, I couldn’t really muster a cheerful goodnight.Once home my appetite wasn’t any greater when I came across the chips or what I presume was left of them. I know the SP gives away batter bits so it surprises me they sell their chippy bits. In short, I did not enjoy my experience and the 2 stars reflect not only how poor the service was today (and you had the nerve to charge me full price) but it was also bumped because my previous experience with the ladies I regard as a 5 star service.

I was served a chicken and bacon pie, the middle was still frozen and the outside was warm, they took it away, I said let's see how it comes back to my mum surely the would give me a 'fresh' one? It was returned reheated again and fully cut open. The pie was fully splayed open, looked like baby food. i had only partially cut it open. The wedges were only warm to and very firm. I'd been here once before and wasn't happy but mum fancied a change. I regret it. I will not return. How they are still going I don't know. They use massive plates but portion is small, cost £10 then drink. I will not return.
