We have stayed in several of the hotels in the Pig group, and this is our top favourites. The location, surrounded by countryside, is perfect for an 'away-from- it-all' stay. The building, with a taste of the homely country big house, is perfect for a relaxing glass of something by a log fire. Great food and drink and really comfortable bedrooms with great views. Above all, the staff are wonderful, attentive, friendly, relaxed but very professional and helpful. We had an amazing long walk there, and felt perfectly at home during our stay. Yes, of course we will be back! Sending our best wishes to all the staff. Colin and Brenda. 😃👍
Really busy, but well worth the wait. Went there at around 1pm on a Saturday and waited about 15 - 20 minutes. Once we were seated the food was very quick.
Staff always go above and beyond. So far we have tried a few different pasta dishes and pizzas and they are always delicious. Problem now, is that I don't want to change my order as the food I have tried is just too good!
I went to this place for the first time and had a great experience. The food was fresh, and the portions were perfect.
The tikka masala had just the right amount of spice without being too much. It’s a nice spot for a relaxed, casual dinner
First visit, and I was very impressed, staff were very professional and friendly, didn't have to wait at all for drinks before ordering food. The food was excellent, the menu varied, all served in a very professional manner,
Outstanding restaurant, independent I believe, staff trained very well, unlike many places you visit these days

Friendly, professional staff, nice cosey ambiance, lovely food served in good time, we didn't feel rushed or ignored. Thwy have a perfect balance for this kind of establishment. We will be returning.

I recently had an extremely disappointing stay at Hotel Indigo in Bath, which significantly disrupted my vacation plans. I was assigned room 215, located on floor -1 (the basement level), and encountered numerous issues that made my stay unbearable.
Upon entering the room, I noticed it was unclean, with stains visible throughout. Although I initially chose to overlook this, the situation worsened when I attempted to sleep around midnight. Hotel staff were moving goods up and down the stairs directly outside my room, creating constant noise from footsteps, door slams, and conversations. This disturbance persisted until 6 AM, depriving me of any rest.
After the staff finally ceased their activities, I hoped to get some sleep. However, I was soon disturbed by loud noises from pigeons near my window. Upon opening the window, I discovered a significant amount of bird droppings, which was both unsightly and unsanitary. Additionally, insects (bed bugs) began to invade the room once I turned off the lights, further adding to my discomfort.
To make matters worse, construction noises began at 8 AM, eliminating any chance of rest. Frustrated and exhausted, I decided to check out early and return home, as the experience had completely ruined my holiday.
I have attached photos to illustrate the poor conditions I encountered during my stay. Based on this experience, I will not be staying at any Hotel Indigo properties in the future and cannot recommend this hotel to others.
Delicious food and very friendly staff. Highly recommended for anyone with coeliac disease - they are super careful about cross contamination and have lots of gluten free options.

Just had a very pleasant weekend away in Jan and the hotel delivered better than we expected. Staff charming, food very good and spa was really good considering the time of year. If it was that good in Jan must be fab in warmer months when the lovely gardens come into play

There was only one good thing about this place. The ambience was absolutely lovely, and the renovation made the place feel very bright. The service was very positive, and although had to come back a few times for them to say we couldn't have certain things, this was one of the better parts of the experience.
However, the food was a big let down. The chips were stale, the ham didn't really taste of ham, just a soft block of salt, and eggs were oily and hard. We had a cold pork chop that was more fat than pork. Clearly choosing a pork chop was the wrong decision for someone who doesn't like fat, but it was still a shock when cutting off the fat filled a plate bigger than the bowl of pork. It too was cold. The steak cooked well, but sadly was only warm. The bread was cold and chewy and although the flavour was good, it was ruined by one piece being burnt and tasting of oily char.
The chowder starter was more like a tasting dish. It lacked depth, and just tasted like a sour cream and didn't taste of much. The fish in it was lovely, but there were so few pieces which was a bit unfortunate.
Everything was a mixture of oily, stale, cold, or lacked depth and still came to £110 after discretionary service charge.
Not sure it was worth the trip, and a little disappointed given how much I had looked forward to it.
I wanted to like it, but even the members of the party that were more forgiving than me left extremely disappointed.
Hopefully our experience was abnormal and this was just a bad day for them, that our experience is not like how yours will be, but the 45 minute drive for my 21st birthday meal was not worth it and won't be made again. Other reviews look amazing, and I really wish I could have had the food that was served to those people, but I wasn't so this is (unfortunately) the only review I can make.
Stopped by for lunch. Very enjoyable experience. Everything you hope for at a pretty country pub. Located on a little village green easy parking. Welcoming host, great range of drinks and tasty well cooked food. Duck Ragu pie excellent! Great service, no negatives. Superb value. Retuning soon. Many thanks.

The food was great, we both had fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. The building layout is strange though, we weren't aware the cafe/resturant and fish and chip shop were the same as there are two separate counters. We wanted to eat in but were told we would have needed to order in the restaurant. Staff seemed a little off and not very welcoming, however like I said, the food was good.
We are regulars at the Chew and it never disappoints! In for lunch yesterday and can honestly say the food and service continues to be the best in class!
Jane had Sea Bass which was cooked and presented perfectly. I had Calves Liver and it was the best I have ever had!
As usual, the girls doing the hard yards waiting on everyone did a great job.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and welcoming.
The Chew Kitchen really is gem of a place and truly deserves its 5 star ratings!
